Fun Weight Loss Chain

Hey folks, I remember a while back, we had this awesome thread where we shared our weekly progress to keep each other motivated and accountable. Well, I'm here to kickstart it again! ๐
I wear many hats โ I'm a personal trainer, a nutrition expert, a single parent, and just a regular human. Yep, even us PTs can struggle with our weight sometimes. I hit the 100kg mark! ๐ I kind of lost my way because I didn't like the extra attention you get when fit, but now I'm ready to get back on track.
Here are the simple rules:
1. Post your weekly updates on a day of your choice. I prefer Fridays because it sets a positive tone for my weekend (and maybe if I do well I get a little treat like a bottle of wine ๐ท).
2. Be kind to each other.
3. Let's motivate and support one another by sharing what's been working for us.
Feel free to use this template each week and let's embark on this journey together! ๐ช

Hey Linda! ๐ Welcome to the thread, and big kudos to you for diving into this journey! ๐ Here's some friendly advice:

The fact that you've decided to start again is a HUGE win! ๐ When it comes to meal planning, start small and build up. Try prepping some healthy meals in advance to make things easier. And moving a little more is a great goal! Even a short walk can do wonders for your mood and energy.

Hey Irene,
Thanks for sharing your progress and thoughts! ๐ Losing over 25 pounds is a fantastic achievement. Remember, progress isn't always just about the numbers on the scale, but also how you feel and the positive habits you're building.
It's completely normal to have days where you doubt your progress, but your dedication to tracking your food is a big win. That shows commitment and self-awareness, which are key to making sustainable changes.
Motivation can ebb and flow, but finding small joys in your fitness journey, like celebrating those days where you can tell you've made progress, can keep you going. Maybe set some short-term goals or find a workout buddy to boost your gym motivation.
You're doing great, Irene! Keep up the good work and stay positive. Every step forward is progress, no matter how small. ๐ฟ๐ช1 -

Hey Lisa!
Welcome back to the journey towards a healthier you! ๐ Starting fresh is a great mindset. Tracking your progress and being honest about it is a powerful tool. It's not about how many times you start; it's about the persistence and determination you show each time.
Consistency is key. Tracking your food and progress will provide you with valuable insights into your habits and help you make evidence-based adjustments. Remember, small, sustainable changes over time can lead to significant results.
Also, reaching out and sharing your journey can be incredibly motivating. Don't hesitate to lean on this community or involve a workout buddy. You've got this, Lisa! Stay focused and believe in your progress. ๐ช๐ฟ1 -

Congrats on the big loss your first week. Just wanted to remind you that calories make you lose weight not macros. A calorie is a calorie whether itโs from sugar, fat, carbs, protein, the body doesnโt know the difference in terms of calories. If protein keeps you in check then great, but the protein was not the source of your weight loss. If you believe otherwise would you please provide your source? Congrats on the big loss your first week. Just wanted to remind you that calories make you lose weight not macros. A calorie is a calorie whether itโs from sugar, fat, carbs, protein, the body doesnโt know the difference in terms of calories. If protein keeps you in check then great, but the protein was not the source of your weight loss. If you believe otherwise would you please provide your source? This is to be sure everyone gets the facts regarding CICO or the thermodynamic concept that a "calorie" is a sufficient way to describe the energy content of food.
I get what you are saying, I have my masters in nutritional science/anatomy and contraindications when comes to people with medical needs. Hey there! ๐ While it's true that calories are a fundamental aspect of weight loss (calories in, calories out - CICO), the role of macros can't be overlooked. Proteins, fats, and carbs can influence satiety, energy expenditure, and even the composition of weight loss.
Studies like those published in the "American Journal of Clinical Nutrition" and "Obesity" show that high-protein diets can enhance weight loss by promoting a feeling of fullness, boosting metabolism during digestion, and preserving lean muscle mass during calorie reduction to focus on targeting body fat and not your lean muscle mass.
So, while calories matter, the type of calories (macros) can impact how your body processes and utilizes them in the weight loss journey. Keep rocking your progress! ๐๐ช2 -
