Hello everyone!
Went on a nice 10.2km run this morning. I wasn’t super motivated. I have been trying to cut some calories out of my diet to lose a bit more weight before I start any serious training plan again and really am noticing that I have less perceived energy on my runs. I am not slower, I just feel weaker while running if that makes sense. Also, I have been really missing my misplaced earbuds these past days. Good news though! After overturning the house these past days, I found them, right in my purse. The place I first looked for them! Small little buggers. I really need to develop a system so they don’t get lost again!

30.9/160km for October!
@Laurz9191 I tend to feel like that sometimes...
Always at the start of a run. Like, feeling 'ugh'... And it's a struggle ! But I'm okay after about 2M in -if just to complete what I set out to... Might be less pacey though.
My issues with weight loss are more post vacay weight gain from over indulging... Eating like I'm Guy Fieri and drinking like I'm back at university lol
175-180 lbs is the sweet spot for me. Get antsy/irritated if I'm over 180 lbs.2 -
I was feeling burnt out, so a short run to keep things loose.
My least favorite weather along coastal California is when the hot Santa Ana winds blow. That makes it wildfire season. The humidity plunges to single digits, and the temps go up. The east winds from the Mohave desert desiccate everything with strong, hot, dust-bearing winds. We get cracked lips, nose bleeds, dehydration, and often smoke from wildfires. It is an Autumn/early winter thing. Imagine standing Infront of a hair dryer...it can be like that. I'm whining because they haven't actually started yet, but are about to.
The plus side is the skies are usually crystal clear blue, and when there is a swell it is great surfing because the wind blows straight into the waves.
October Running Goal: 15 runs, 60 miles- Oct 2 - 2.94 miles
- Oct 4 - 1.40 miles

October Goal: 130 miles
10/1: 11.11 miles
10/3: 6.25 miles
10/4: 6.25 miles
10/5: 7.01 miles
30.62/130 miles completed for October
I didn't post yesterday, but I did run. I ran 6.25 miles yesterday and 7 miles today. It was still hot at around 75°F yesterday and the run just felt tough. Today was much better at 68°F. We had thunderstorms last night and actually got some rain, so the streets were pretty wet and even though it was humid, it felt pretty good this morning. I didn't see any wildlife today, but I saw a skunk yesterday. And I also saw a raccoon that had been hit by a car. I was hoping he would be moved by today, and he was. Someone moved him out of the street and onto the middle of the sidewalk. Not exactly what I had in mind. But other than having to dodge roadkill it was a good run. And our water pressure is back to normal and the tests came back good so we don't have to boil our water anymore.

6.7/62 so far this month.
Did 1.55 today (not the 3 I had hoped for - much hotter than they predicted and very humid).
Maybe 62 miles was too much to aim for in my 1st month of trying this, but I’ll keep at it.
But, I am averaging over 10,000 steps per day.7 -

Probably. It took me two months of trial and error, by month three I started to get a better idea of my fitness and ability, I was able to set more meaningful monthly goals
"I'll keep at it." <- There you go!4 -

Thanks - I’m waiting for cooler weather. If it’s 3 degrees out, I can knock it out of the park. 80s and humid, not so good. My body thinks I should live in Siberia. It’s more the weather than anything else. 60s are coming, so that’ll help a lot.4 -
-
@chris_in_cal - this is the worst weather… near 100 here the next few days with humidity in the 8-15% range. Fortunately it does cool off a bit by Sunday but I am sure it will be back. I will get out tomorrow if I can get up early enough and I feel up to it. The medications really zonk me out the first week but I should be better by Saturday.6

Morning everyone!
Got in 5 (09"24).
Have a nice Friday all.
@chris_in_cal @Mari33a ha! only ever been Belfast so couldn't comment on Dublin... But doubt Dublin gets anywhere near as hot as SF peak summer! 😊2 -
Hello everyone! I had a 9.1km run this morning. I am so sorry for what I am about to say to those of you who are still suffering from heat, but I actually had to pick up the pace to get warm, even with a base layer on. Today is my ideal running climate. I can still wear shorts but the cold air cools me down. Let’s see how I do next week in France! It’s supposed to be 30C, so 80F - so back to summer it will be!
@tarun_yadavA I also usually do feel better after like the first 20 minutes. Today I had a bit more to eat before going out and did feel a lot better.
So far an even 40/160km for October!8 -
9.5/120 miles
10/2: 3 miles
10/4: 2.8 miles
10/5: 3.7 miles
I woke up to thunder, rain, and pretty gusty winds. I knew it would be raining so I set out clothes and shoes to get wet in but the gusty winds made me wonder if it was the best idea. We have a lot of trees and there is always a ton of debris after a storm so I figured maybe it wasn’t the best idea to run in the dark with tree debris blowing around. Of course, within the first mile on the treadmill, the storm calmed down and the rain lessened to a lovely sprinkle. Oh well, I was committed. I wasn’t planning to run because I needed to get the car packed for heading out of town after work and my plan was scheduled around that, but after a skipped run and a bailed run, I felt like I needed to do something just to keep the habit going. Don’t want to set that precedent. I am at the hill country this weekend and it is supposed to be a lot cooler. I am looking forward to some crisp morning air!8 -
Probably a smart call @martaindale...I know about running in the dark and fallen trees
This morning again, started out thinking I was going to do a slow, easy run. I guess my body decided to push it a little due to the better than usual temperature, even tho my brain said slow down and take it easy. It was only 66F this morning. Tomorrow morning should be really nice (mid 50s), so the plan is to just relax and enjoy it!7 -

It was really nice this morning at right at 60°F. I ran 3.5 miles and I just enjoyed it so much. It felt cool when I headed out and I never really got hot while running. Since it was a shorter run I tried for negative splits and got it. And while I wasn't terribly speedy, I did run faster than my usual pace. Tomorrow should be in the 50's and it will be a rest day for me, but it looks like we may have some 50's on Sunday morning too. This is perfect running weather for me.
@martaindale Good call on not running when it is dark and stormy. I'll run in rain, but not if it is rainy and windy and thundering.8 -
It was a nice morning and looking forward to a little chill in the air the next few mornings too!
Goal of 100 miles. Yesterday I did not run in the morning before work because it was REALLY storming with the whole crash boom bang thing going on. So instead I decided to do a quick one at lunch. Oops. It was cloudy - not really cool but under 80 at lunch makes for nice running weather. I ended up with 7. Than about 4 PM my neighbor who has been away texted did I want to play tennis?🤷♀️😳🤣 Well who is going to say no after missing a few weeks and having a pretty nice afternoon (not 100!) Unfortunately I did discover that my knee which has been bothering me on steps not running at all was seriously hating moving on the tennis court. Oh well. Another injury to watch. 🤷♀️ story of my life. This morning after a lot of activity yesterday I wasn't sure I would have anything left but the body was willing and the weather was a tad cooler so decided to try to keep my avg mileage up and to say to HE!! with you apple watch for challenging me to 8.5 miles 14 times this month (walking and running) So if you see me not doing ANYTHING after the 14th.. you will know why.
1-Oct-23 8.03 8.03

I am soooo looking forward to 60s and 50s. I hope they come soon here. I’m so tired of the heat and humidity and I really dislike treadmill time. Prefer to be outdoors.

<kidding> <maybe not>
I certainly do not want anyone to feel intimidated by my mileage. It is just part of me, what I train for. The goal for me is just to run.
I have thought about it over the last few days, maybe not post as much. I do not know yet.
I did want to post today because a client of mine caught this picture on his way in for appointment.
Another client brought me pears:This baby weighs 14.9 oz!
Mileage to date:10/1 18.41 miles, 1980 days on the run, 1162 days HM+ Streak, County Line and back

I got out for 6 miles this morning. I ran 4 miles with a friend and then another 2 on my own. I have been sitting in meetings all day for the past two days. I needed to be at work at 6:00 am yesterday morning but thankfully had to go back out to my car for something or else I would have missed a beautiful morning sky.

@AlphaHowls please consider my comment only as poor joking. 🙃🥹 You actually INSPIRE all of us here and I love your posting. Please don't ever stop... ✅🌟✅
The opener tells it like it is. We each do what we can. Some of us are old or fat or slow or speedy or Tarun... etc. (he's a class by himself yes? 🤓) but we are all here and seeing what you are capable of thru thick and thin often reminds me that I need not wimp at the smallest thing. Cause I tell myself what would @AlphaHowls do? 😳🤷♀️🤣💖
And oh my I hope to see an Eagle one day. Gorgeous.10 -

@SummerSkier hahahahaha
I'm nothing special... I'm neither as fast as @Scott6255 nor do I do @AlphaHowls ' mileage.4 -
Side note-
Got a response from MFP about my ticket about posting in the forum's via Android...
One for you @polskagirl01 .... I tried Sernik6 -
@AlphaHowls Please continue to post and share all of your sunrises and running adventures. Yes, you run a lot of mileage. That's who you are. When I first started this group my monthly goals were maybe 50 miles and there were several big mileage runners here. Yep, it was a little intimidating until I got to know people and then was able to realize that I don't want to do what you do!! I worked up to where I want to be and it doesn't bother me 1 lick that you run like 4x my monthly mileage. You do you!!10

@teresa502 The sky is beautiful! That's a cool sculpture. I love large scale sculpture.tarun_yadavA wrote: »I'm nothing special... 12.5/120 miles
10/2: 3 miles
10/4: 2.8 miles
10/5: 3.7 miles
10/6: 5 miles
5 miles on this hills this morning with temps at a cool 67F!! Knocking 5-10 degrees off makes such a big difference. It should be in the 50's tomorrow and it will be glorious.
As I was driving in last night I caught a beautiful sunset. It was gone by the time I got to the house so no pic, but I'm glad I saw it.8 -

Whole heartily agree!! It is just an honor to be in a group with such a tremendously talented and humble athlete like @AlphaHowls and so many others here. I am always inspired by you all ❤️8

@AlphaHowls I agree with everyone else! Your mileage inspires me and actually gives me strength when I’m out there running! So, please, keep posting about it! We hope we can support you too!
That’s what I love about this group. It’s not about competition at all. It’s about everyone trying to reach their own very individual, personal goals- and sometimes maybe not making their goals but setting goals, which, in and of itself can be a powerful act. In my case at the moment that’s 160km- (a goal I’m personally content with) - in your case it’s 500miles !. And that’s awesome just the way it is!
