It hasn't got really cold here yet but the temperatures have dropped and it took me a 1/2 mile to get warmed up. It's getting dark really early too, like before 7pm. Seemed to happen quicker this year although I that's impossible.
@kgirlhart - Your before and after pictures are brilliant. Well done on maintaining so well!
@tarun_yadavA - looking forward to you photos and hearing about your adventures in India5 -

Thanks @mari33a!
I ran 6 miles today. It was a little warmer at 70°F, but it is supposed to be cool again this weekend. The forecast even has a few 40's (which is honestly a little cooler than I like. 50's-60's are my favorite running temperatures. It was windy this morning, but overall it was a nice run. I didn't see any skunks today, but I did see 3 deer at the park. There were two big deer and a small one, so it seemed to be a little family.
Nice shoes @SummerSkier! And great run! I often do that too, where I'm just going to run 5 miles, well maybe 6.... Ok 7 miles.7 -
Glad the shoes are working for you @SummerSkier
Yes @Mari33a I have also noticed it seems to be getting dark a lot earlier all of a sudden.
Did an easy 6 TM miles today.5 -
Welcome @mnsmov15 .
Great run @Teresa502 . Love that the local runners do that with the money they find. Is that the running club or just the local runners?
Great running @SummerSkier . I do that self talk too, but it usually stops at an hour or so when I do - not seven miles by a pretty long shot. Those shoes are cool.
Nice running @Mari33a . I agree that it seems like all of a sudden it is getting dark at 7pm instead of 9pm. Not sure why that is.
Great run @kgirlhart !

I didn't post yesterday because it was late when I got home. I spent the day with mom while electricians were working at her house - added some new dedicated circuits for her portable heaters since her wiring is so old. They also changed out all of her old 2 prong plugs to 3 prong ones. I had planned to run when I got home, but a friend wanted me to play tennis with them, so I said yes. I was only home 45 min before heading out again. Tennis was interesting - I played great for two sets, then completely fell apart and I'm sure looked like I had never picked up a racquet before. I guess I got tired, but I didn't feel like I was. Anyway, after I got home I seriously considered breaking my streak, but gave in and did a mile walk on the treadmill.
Today, I had an appointment to get a hair cut and then another to fill out the final papers for my cousin's Medicaid. Mom went with me and we ran some errands on the way home. We also ate lunch at the Black Olive Italian Restaurant. It was good, but still sitting a little heavy on my stomach 3 hours later, so opted for a driveway walk again. Hopefully I'll get in a run tomorrow.7 -
Morning everyone!
I got in a 5k run. Been quite the 48hrs... Lot of eating and drinking.
Anyways... sooooo.... remember when you Southern ladies were talking about which side of the road and nearly getting hit....
So I nearly got hit by an oncoming truck this morning.
View from Rooftop bar where we had drinks last night
My run this morning
I posted a video of Traffic -all directions- when I was running on Strava.. Before a truck nearly hit me lol. Can't seem to post it here.
Gonna try a run earlier tomorrow. Got up late. Was so hot and just busy

I’m driving to Hilton Head SC tomorrow. It’s about a 6 hour drive and I want to get an early start so I took some extra time today to do my long run. It was 50F when I started in short sleeves so I added my arm warmers and wore them until the second mile. I found one penny today.
@SummerSkier – I’m going to have to check out the Pumas. I’ve never even considered them before for my running shoe. How is the toe box? Wide? Narrow?
@Scott6255 – Is your races this weekend? Is your brother or niece running with you?
@quilteryoyo – It’s just local runners who all come together on Christmas morning. Glad you were able to keep your streak alive. I know it has to be so hard some days.
@tarun_yadavA – Glad you are enjoying India but please be careful of that traffic.
5 -
@Teresa502 the toe box is a little narrow. I thought the first run they were going to hurt my feet and even swapped to thinner socks, but it is almost as if the Puma's conformed to the shape of my feet the more i used them which is odd. Usually I am a first love or hate and no "breaking" in type person. 🥹 If I had tried them on in a store I would not have bought them. And if my cat had not thought they were the cat's meow I might not have put more miles in. Sorry meant to put my photos in a spoiler yesterday guys.
🤷♀️Nice 8 mile run and enjoy SC. I went there on vacation to Tybee Island one year and it was a gorgeous area. Lucky penny for the 13th!
@tarun_yadavA that is really scary. Glad you got in a run. Will check strava. I can't get vids on here really either.
7 -
@tarun_yadavA You did great running with all of the disadvantages you had. Glad you didn't get hit. I'll have to head over to Strava for the video. Looks like a great place to have a rooftop drink.
Nice long run this morning @Teresa502 . Have a safe, fun trip.
@SummerSkier Cute picture of HaiHai and the shoes.

2.25 miles today. Longest one time walk/run so far this month. Working my way up slowly…

Slow and easy is the way to go @daria0919 . You are doing it the right way. Congrats and glad the old Garmin is still working.3

@SummerSkier - You can't beat a cat's endorsement!2

Dang @tarun_yadavA you are brave to run in such a crowd city! Glad you met someone to run with.

Today I ran 3.3 miles. I was trying to keep my pace under 10 minutes, and I finished the run with an average pace of 9:43. It felt good to run fast. It was a fun run, and I saw a fox at the park. It was 72°F. It felt warm, but it didn't get too much warmer all day. It is supposed to be 49° tomorrow, and 47° on Sunday. I'm planning to rest tomorrow and do my long run on Sunday. I may have to pull my sleeves out.

Hey everyone!
I haven’t had time to post, but I am in Bordeaux and I have been running a bit. There is a 7km loop next to the river across 2 bridges that all runners in city seem to do, especially once the sun goes down.
Tomorrow we head back to Germany. I’m not sure I’ll get up early enough to run before. I have been taking pages out of @tarun_yadavA ’s playbook. Evening out (a good amount of wine), rolling out of bed to run.
Here are my views from the route.
iler
@Scott6255 Good luck tomorrow and Sunday on your races
@kgirlhart Yout pictures are really inspiring and something to be proud of. Thanks for posting.
12.10. 7.5km, 13.10. 7.1km- total for October 75.1/160km. I’m going to go do today’s loop now.

Run this morning was fun - 9.2 km. There were some awesome clouds. Since everyone here seems to have the same route, you feel like you are part of a huge running movement/community when you run here. I like it. Now I’m off to explore the Atlantic coast and a giant sand dune
.
So far 84.4/160km for October.8 -

@Laurz9191 love ur photos too! On our next trip to France we plan to fly to Bordeaux zigzag across the Pryenees and fly home from Perpignan.
@tarun_yadavA I’m following u on Strava now. Hope u don’t mind. That traffic was mental.6 -
Nice treadmill run @Scott6255 ! Looking forward to hearing about your races next week. It's supposed to be low 50's here tomorrow. A bit too much of a rollercoaster for my liking, but happens every year.
Nice speedy run @kgirlhart !
@Laurz9191 Nice running while on vacation and you had a very pretty place to run.

Thanks @Laurz9191. I love your photos. Looks like a wonderful place to run.

A dear friend came over yesterday with plants and a shovel, and we worked in my garden. She did most of the work, but I did enough to count it as a workout. We planted roses, lavender and heather, and redid the bed itself (took out dirt, put better dirt in, mulch, etc). It will be nice when the roses start doing their thing next Spring.
Also a Squash Army update:
The entire back row is roses that you can't really see in the picture. They'll be nice next year.
There's not much to see here either. The little fence is blocking off a space for the crazy bee-friendly flowers that live there to take over. I plan to weed out the ones that grow outside of the fence.
2 squash are turning orange but firmly attached to green leaves/vines, and the rest are still green but big. I hope they have time to ripen before it gets too cold.
There are weird mushrooms growing in there and I don't think they're edible, so I'll be sure to wash that one squash very well if it matures enough to harvest.9 -
@polskagirl01 your squash are looking very good!
Nice run @kgirlhart
Had a really nice run this morning. 54F, a little windy, but a very pleasant change. Wasn't planning on it, but got a PR for my fastest 10K and fastest 10 miles. Probably the change in weather combined with new shoes. Was good training for next week 😁8 -

Nice of your friend to bring flowers and the free labor is even better @polskagirl01 ! Glad that you were able to help out and get in a nice workout too. The squash are looking great.
Congrats on your PRs this morning @Scott6255 ! You are going to do so well in your races next weekend.
Hahaha I feel you @Mari33a ! Maybe that's why I cleaned first today, but then I didn't want to run.You did great.

I didn't post yesterday, but it was a busy day. I cleaned the gutters and swept/blew the leaves off of the porches and part of the driveway, rested a little and then mowed my yard and got the rest of the leaves off of the driveway with the mower, rest, then gathered some gravel and went down and helped mom fill in the hole around her faucet that had to be repaired a couple of weeks ago. We dumped, tamped, and dumped some more and then had to dig up some more dirt to finish filling it in. Why is it that it always seems to take more dirt to fill a hole than what you take out of it? LOL Anyway, after all of that I didn't feel like doing hill repeats, as scheduled, so I just did a 2 mile wun on the driveway.
Today, I was moody and kept procrastinating getting out for a run. I wound up cleaning house and then sitting and watching the original "Lassie Come Home." I cried nearly the entire movie...I'm such a sap when it comes to movies about dogs. Anyway, that made me feel better, so was able to force myself out for a run. I was supposed to do 7 miles. I knew that wasn't going to happen, so talked myself into doing an easy 45 minutes...keeping my HR under 140 bpm for as long as I could. I did 3.15 miles. Avg HR was 137 with a max of 147 bpm.

@teresa502 I love the idea of collecting change and donating it. Such a fun idea for a run group.
@Laurz9191 Lovely pics. It's nice that you found the spot all the cool kids use for a run!
@tarun_yadavA Glad it was only a close call. Be careful out there!5 -
46.7/120 miles
10/2: 3 miles
10/4: 2.8 miles
10/5: 3.7 miles
10/6: 5 miles
10/7: 8 miles
10/9: 4.1 miles
10/10: 7.1 miles
10/11: 3 miles
10/14: 10 miles
I'm in the hill country for the eclipse this weekend. Got up early to get my run in before people started showing up at the house. The weather was amazing this morning. High 50's, low humidity. The run, however, was rough. I didn't sleep well and the wind felt like it was a constant head wind. Just felt tired the whole run. Funny, Garmin said I was productive for the first time in a month!
Life is getting in the way a lot this month. I skipped a run on Thursday because my schedule got messy then by the time I could run it was late and I couldn't get out the door. I'm going to have to get it together as I get into this training plan. I find it hard to run after work but sometimes it just has to be that way. I'm usually so consistent so missing a couple of run in just 2 weeks is out of character. I don't want that to become a habit.9 -
Morning everyone!
Checking in. Heading back to Delhi for the week, before wife+kids join in.
Horrendously unhealthy weekend. So hopefully I find somewhere to workout (or better- run!). Will be working UK hours in India, so 1:30 - 10pm.
@Laurz9191 Bordeaux looks lovely! Glad you got some great food and wine in! And forced runs the next day!!! 💪
@Mari33a thank you! And sent you a follow back request!
@martaindale @SummerSkier @quilteryoyo @Scott6255 thank you all.
Laugh about it now! Lesson learned.8
