Didn't trust myself to run easy outside, so jumped on the TM for 5 easy miles 😄6

I'm glad you are feeling better @yirara . I have found when I have a particularly bad episode, just drinking water calms it down. Weird, but it does. But, mine doesn't happen very often, thankfully.
Nice run @kgirlhart . I'm sure I would wear longer pants in those temps too. Glad it was a good one for you.
You are doing great @SummerSkier . I bet you could find a charity, or maybe even a local school that would take those shoes off your hands. I know around here a lot of the schools have shoes and essential clothes on hand for kids who don't have any. Thanks for your comment about my running. I have been thinking about my plan. I really like to have one to give me an idea as to what different types of runs I can/should do and distances, etc. But, I need to just use it more as a guide and not be tied to it too much. That is what I do anyway, but I feel "bad" (not exactly the right word) when I don't follow the schedule. So, guide it is.

My mom, neighbor, and I went to a semi-local orchard this morning to buy some fresh apples and other items they have there. We had lunch out before coming home. I was tired, so took a nap and then did my run on the treadmill.
I did a recovery run, keeping my HR under 130 bpm as best as I could. I did pretty good for the first 20 min, but then went over, even with more walking. I ran at 4.2 mph and walked at 3.8 mph until my HR went down to 120 or so. Most of the time, that was one min of walking. My pace, therefore, was really slow - 14:40 min/mile. Guess that is to be expected on a recovery run.5 -
Morning everyone!
Got in 4.5M today (09"18).
As always - thanks @quilteryoyo and @SummerSkier for your kind words and encouragement 😊 ... And yes, you're right. So far: 4 runs (+1 gym elliptical) /7 days is better than what I hoped.
I'm going to run with someone local here tomorrow. So that should be good. Better than monotonous laps!
bON, RE: food...Well... As you may already know from me... When I travel (well, working this week!), I like to take in the local food+drink and culture as much as possible. Eat and drink like locals would. I'm a poor man's Anthony Bourdain tribute act. So yesterday night, after finishing work around 9.30/10... came across this guy...
Food truck. Smelt amazing. It's called a 'Kathi roll'. Kinda like a Mexican tlayuda but with a beaten egg cooked into it one side... And then they fill it up with grilled meat and onions and chillies and chilli sauce.
Soooo good
This one was a 'single egg, double mutton'. Sooo good.
I've been lucky with no 'Delhi Belly'! Worried a bit about the kids though... Eldest is especially keen to try street food. Youngest is more into what I would call 'Glocal' fusion cuisine... ie, he wants to see what McDonalds India and KFC India have to offer. Apparently KFC India has thing called a 'biryani bucket', where it's a bucket of chicken fried rice, topped with popcorn chicken and comes with various curry type dips (glocal sub for gravy I guess?).
Oh, and add to the calories... tea is huge here. Or chai even. But it's these multiple cups of milky sugary sweet tea that's laced with subtle flavours... Ginger cinnamon etc.
And then they have it with things... Sometimes fried and savoury, rather than say cookies or cake. My favourite is thing called a 'pakora'. It's basically a deep fried fritter. And you can stick allsorts of veggies in it. Onions are common. My favourite is this one called 'Paneer' - which is a type of Indian cheese.
So the end result is something kinda like a spicy Culvers Cheese curds or Mozzarella sticks but with a different batter and spiced obviously.
'paneer pakora'
Side side note-
Asked why do Starbucks and other coffee places call it 'Chai Tea'? Chai = Tea. People in the west are literally saying Tea Tea. 😂
PS: @quilteryoyo how were the apples?4 -

@tarun_yadavA I am so happy you are writing these posts and pictures. it is absolutely the best part of MFP right now. Yes, you can veer off if Delhi belly hits, we all get that, but running and eating and having family doing their thing with you in India is remarkable. Thanks again for the posting.

@tarun_yadavA you are making my mouth water with all this talk of wonderful Indian food and the photos! I thoroughly enjoy Indian food and have tried my hand at making many Indian dishes and foods over the year, including making my own paneer, pakoras, samosas, poori and so much more.
Thank you for sharing!

10/16 2.5 miles
Today 3.0 miles
20.5/62 for October so far5 -
I went for a short walk this morning and then sat in the cold water for a couple minutes. It was actually cold this time. Only problem with that was the squash... I had covered as much as I could the past 2 nights with old sheets, and unfortunately you can tell which sections weren't covered. A good bit of the plants got frosted. The rest are wonky due to having a blanket on top of them. I expect most of it to die off soon, but am leaving the squash on the vines as long as possible/as long as they appear to have any life left in them. Going to keep covering them on nights when it will go below 0°. The initial 2 squash should be good to harvest, and most of the others look pretty iffy.My head feels like there's a blender inside of it though. Yesterday was bad. Today's a little better, not much. 🤯 I promise I'm fighting to not fall into despair and depression but it's pretty tough right now. It's been a year since I quit running, but back then I still had a list of treatments and doctors to work through, and was hopeful I'd find one that would help. Today I managed laundry and heated up the "green borscht" I made yesterday. I sat upright for a while braiding t-shirt strips to later turn into a placemat or something. And I showered and got dressed, because I was under the delusion that I would be able to go to Bible study at church. My headache and dizziness decided otherwise. I can read a little in bed.
Foot for scale, haha. These 2 are pretty green though.6 -
@tarun_yadavA I also love experiencing a city through it's food scene. Kathi rolls and paneer are both amazing! Palak paneer is probably my husband's favorite Indian dish. A paneer pakora sounds heavenly! 😂 Chai tea! Right up there with naan bread.2

Halfway to goal at about halfway through the month. This run was a tempo run, which for Hansons is a race pace workout. So, 4 miles at race pace and a mile to warm up and cool down. This run felt really good. Mid 40's ❤️. My target pace is 9:18 and splits were 9:21, 9:11, 9:13, 9:06. I'm still not quite locking onto the pace. I do a lot of adjusting to get to a good average pace. But, even the faster miles didn't feel too hard, which is encouraging. I'll find the pace eventually. That's the point of these workouts, training your muscles to know what race pace feels like.
Also went to Pilates last night. I have a well-earned rest day today.7 -

The other slavic languages mostly call it chai. But then the teapot in Polish is a "czajnik". I think they just like to complicate their language as much as possible and then say it's "so easy, children can speak Polish".3 -
@polskagirl01 I'm sorry to hear you are having a rough day. The setbacks must be so frustrating. Internet hugs!1

Back to the real world after a few days at the beach. Even though its Wednesday, it’s a feeling like a Monday all…day…long.
Great racing @eleanorhawkins!
@AlphaHowls my kitty would not like to live in your neighborhood. She is so scared of loud noises but especially those big helicopters and the fighter jets. The jets use our mountain ranges for practice every now and then and heck, they even scare me most of the time!
@Tarun_yadavA – thanks for the Indian food tour. Very educational for me. I grew up in an area without a lot of cultural diversity and it is still quite limited. I love exploring the local cuisines in my travel also but I tend to be on the less adventurous side of the table.
It’s been quite a long, tough year for you @polskagirl01. Sending you a big, gentle hug. Hang in there my friend.

It was 57°F this morning, which is just perfect running weather for me. I wore shorts and a t-shirt and was neither too hot or too cool for my 6.25 mile run. I bought a noxgear light that attaches to my noxgear vest. I have to say, it was really nice being able to see the road while running. I try to stick to pretty well-lit areas, but there are always dark spots and I really liked being able to see the street.7 -
Continuing the taper. 5 slow TM miles.6
-
Morning everyone! 😊
Got in 5.15M (09"27). Ran with a local today! Much much better route.
For those not on StravaContrast... Big tall luxury flats, and then you can just about squint and see these slum shacks through the long green grass. India flag - tale of two different countries... G20 hosting, moon landing... And then abject poverty
And then these majestic cows (buffaloes)... Just halt crazy traffic, at will
@chris_in_cal @daria0919 @martaindale thanks guys!
Sarah - naan bread, chai tea 😂
But same. I love exploring cities through food and alcohol and locals! 😊
@Teresa502 glad you're enjoying the photos and the description.8 -
A guy can only take so much treadmill...
I saw that it was going to be in the mid to upper 50s this morning, and that is my Goldilocks zone. So tried to keep it easy, but like I feared when I run outside, I have a hard time controlling speed. So started out slow, but by the end I was running marathon pace. Normally that would be ok, but during taper not such a great idea. In any case, it felt pretty good. Ended up doing 6.2 miles. Off to Atlanta tonight.9 -

It was a chilly 42F for this morning’s run. Everything except my hands and ears warmed up quickly and after about 3 miles my hands became warm. I forgot to lay out my clothes last night and didn’t think to grab any gloves or a headband before heading out the door this morning.
@kgirlhart – I have a friend who bought the Noxgear vest last year and purchased the light shortly thereafter. She loves it. I have a similar, cheaper version (Nathan) of the vest and just clip a light onto it for purposes of seeing the surface. One of these days I will splurge and get a Noxgear!
Loving the photos @Tarun_yadavA!
Safe travels @Scott6255. Hope you enjoy your family time AND have some great races!

@tarun_yadavA Great running and that food looks delicious. Interesting about the different foods at KFC and McDonalds. You'll have to let us know how they are. As for the apples, I still haven't eaten one, but they look good. Great run today and love the pictures. I hope those cattle are friendly. I sure wouldn't want to come up on one of them in the dark.
@polskagirl01 Sorry you are having such a hard time. Big hug and lots of prayers. I hope the headache and dizziness went away. I also hope you can harvest some of the squash after all the hard work to get rid of the slugs. Isn't it amazing what a little frost will do to vines?
Great running @martaindale ! So speedy.
Glad things are getting better for you @yirara !
Great running @Teresa502 . When I was in the AF I met a pilot who used to do the training runs that went right over the house where I grew up. I swear if you were tall enough you could have touched those planes. He said it was low altitude radar avoidance training. They haven't done that much lately. I guess stealth technology has made that a less required skill these days.
Nice running @kgirlhart . Glad the new light helps.
Great running @Scott6255 . Have a safe trip and fun races. You are going to do great!

@quilteryoyo Aww, thanks
I love your encouragement and love to wake up to it (or find it after work, like today

Recovery miles this morning in the dark. I have a noxgear vest as well and I really love it. I bought some magnetic lights to help me see the ground and they clip on fine to my noxgear so haven't tried their specific light. It was about 60F. I'm so glad we are finally to temps I can wear a shirt in without feeling like I am suffocating.4 -
Hi everyone! I finally managed to get a run in this morning. It’s been quite difficult since I got back from Bordeaux, as all the kids are home from school and I have to play catch up at work. I had way too much awesome food and wine, so I am glad I at least got a few runs in while I was there! I totally agree with what’s been said about exploring and learning about a country through food and drink. That is my method too.
So today’s run was 9.5km, bringing my October total to 93.9/160km.6 -

@poleskagirl01 Sorry u r feeling so low6 -
Aww. Thank you @yirara .
Nice recovery run @martaindale ! Glad you are having cooler temperatures!
@Laurz9191 I hope things are calming down for you and you can find the time for your runs. It is hard to recover from a vacation....so many things that have to be done.
@Mari33a Sounds like you had one of those runs you didn't want to stop. Nice.3 -

10/19 1.00 mile walk - 3.00 mile run - Short intervals - driveway laps, plus sawed and hauled wood
49.70/90 mile goal
Did a short interval run on the driveway this morning. 5 min Zone 1, 5 min Zone 2, 8 x (1/2 min in zone 5/Zone 1), 5 min Zone 1. Wasn't too bad. I walked so that I did the fast minutes either on the flatter part or downhill part of the route. Avg for the "sprints" was 9:49 min/mile (6.1 mph). Not bad for me, if I could just keep it up for more than a minute at a time.My avg HR was 143, with a max of 160 bpm. I also walked a mile total for warm up and cool down.
I rested a bit and then my neighbor came up and cleaned out the gutters for me (the parts I can't reach I really really appreciated) and blew the leaves off of my driveway. He did this as a thank you for taking care of their animals last week. I guess the free eggs weren't enough in his eyes. After he left, I rinsed off some of the siding that he had blown gutter gunk on and swept the one porch you have to go through the house to get to.
Then, I decided since it was such a nice day out (high of 70F (21.1C)), that I would work on cleaning off the hill beside of my shop. I am going to use my DR for most of it, but a few of the trees were a little big for it, so I sawed them down and hauled them to a brush pile at mom's. I would have done more, but the chain came off of the saw and I had a hard time getting it back on.6 -

Good morning everyone!
Got in 4.52M (09"24).
I will probably miss tomorrow... I have to pick up wife+kids from airport. And then vacay really starts (no working 1-9:30pm hours!l). Will probably get one last run in on Sunday.
After that - we will be on the road and sightseeing etc; so either hotel gyms ... or nothing at all!
Anyways...
@Mari33a glad you like 😊
@quilteryoyo free eggs! Nice! 😊11 -
Hello everyone,
I had a run in the drizzling rain this morning. Other than that and muddy shoes a very uneventful run. Long pants, base layer and headband were essential. I ran 9.1km.
So far 93.9/160km.
@tarun_yadavA Enjoy the family time!!! Good luck sneaking a few workouts in. Have fun and take some cool food pictures. I actually wanted to take lots more food picts in France but felt good uncomfortable doing so in the business setting.
