I didn't run today. I usually take Monday as a rest day. I did do an hour yoga practice, though.
Today was my 2920 day streak on mfp. If you had told me 8 years ago that I would be fit and a runner, I would have thought you were crazy. I debated about posting my before and after photos. Partly because I don't like to brag on myself. And partly because the before photo is kind of embarrassing. But I am proud of myself for sticking with it, and I feel much better today at 55 than I did at 47. So here goes.

Morning all
Got in 7K (09"34).

@kgirlhart amazing weight loss 🙌
@daria0919 love where you took that one there! Fellow Math nerd haha6 -
@kgirlhart that is a tremendous accomplishment 👏👏3

I met up with a friend and ran 5 miles this morning. It was 45F but at least the wind had calmed down from yesterday. These cooler temperatures make it a little harder for me to leave the seat warmer in my car!
I am inspired by every single person here, your posts and your pictures! I don't always make the time to comment and by the time I get caught up with reading and liking and hugging, some of the posts slip my mind!
@Mari33a, you are making me long for another visit to Ireland with your photo of the countryside and the mist lifting!
@AlphaHowls your photo of the tobacco leaf makes me miss the days of raising tobacco which was really hard work. You can tell it’s been a few years and I’ve forgotten just how hard it was since I’m missing it.
Thank you for sharing your before and after photos @kgirlhart – fabulous work!
Safe travels @tarun_yadavA!

33.7/120 miles
10/2: 3 miles
10/4: 2.8 miles
10/5: 3.7 miles
10/6: 5 miles
10/7: 8 miles
10/9: 4.1 miles
10/10: 7.1 miles
600m intervals today and they went pretty well! I hit the pace (or close enough) for all 8 of them and felt better doing it than I did during that bomb of a 400m workout. The pace is hard work but it feels way harder on a treadmill. And the cooler weather (low 60's!!!!) helps too. Despite doing what I thought what a pretty good job, Garmin told me I was overreaching. 😂 So, if I'm not unproductive I'm overreaching. Garmin is very hard to please. I'm glad I knew of this feature (mostly thanks to @eleanorhawkins Garmeen references) before I got my new watch. As a less experienced runner, I would have been really discouraged by it but having done several rounds of training at this point I can laugh at it.8 -
I have to call my run today a 10k Skunker.... or stinker
It actually wasn't too bad but I feel badly if someone's dogs got skunked. I was pretty nice out and I got a little bit late start was only going to do 4 miles and I did not have time before work for a 10K so I did it anyway. I am actually really liking the Puma shoes I posted earlier. I rotate running shoes among 3 different one and at first I wasn't sure I would like them as they were a little tighter but now they just feel pretty perfect and lightweight. I haven't been super fast in any of my shoes lately but maybe cooler weather will help.
@kgirlhart that is a TREMENDOUS accomplishment and you keep getting better and better. 👏👏👏 As far as I can tell unlike some of us you never seem to stray in your maintenance.
Oct 1 was my 6 years and it hasn't been perfect but I have stayed pretty much at a decent weight altho I still struggle and have to do cuts for several weeks when I start to get too puffy. Also as I have hit the mid 60's there seems to be a sludge around my middle even at the same weight. 🥹🧐 so I am hoping the strength training and additional ab work I have started the past few months will help. I can see an inch lost right around my belly button where the sludge likes to hide. Also some of it I know is posture and shrinkage. The joys of aging.
@Scott6255 I am going to have to add some Eagles to my running mix now. 🤣🤣🤣😂 Sounds like your tune list and @martaindale 's garmin are on the same page. 🤷♀️
Speaking of which - I see there was an Austin visit again. @tarun_yadavA told ya! Have a safe trip.

@kgirlhart - thank you for your inspiring post! It’s great to see your before and after and the progress you’ve made. It motivates me to try to get back to where I once was with my running. I know it’ll be a process, but I know I can do it if I keep working at it.
YOU ALL inspire me. I’m glad I found this group!

Great running and beautiful photos @AlphaHowls !
Nice running @kgirlhart ! Deer and other wild animals are much smarter than we give them credit for most of the time. Love your before and after pictures. You look so trim and slim and fit now! Congrats on getting the weight off and keeping it off.
Hahaha @Scott6255 about the Eagles songs. I guess they were wanting you to warm up easy and then put the pedal to the metal.
@polskagirl01 You inspire me with how positive you are, despite your illness. I hope you enjoy your new watch and look forward to seeing it.
I'm glad you enjoyed the concert @martaindale . Great job getting in a run too. I would get lost in those clouds too. Great job on the intervals today. I often fuss at Garmean before I laugh at him. LOL
Great running @Teresa502 ! I, too, miss raising tobacco and seeing it in all of the fields. It was hard work, but some enjoyable parts thrown in.
Nice job getting in the 10k @SummerSkier when you didn't have time. You are doing great with your maintenance, as far as I can tell. I am still yoyo-ing, but the string is shorter.
Have a fun, safe trip @tarun_yadavA !
Well, I'm all caught up, I think. You are all doing great.

Did an easy 6 TM run after work. Trying to do mostly easy runs over the next 10 days as a mini taper before my double race weekend.

I ran 6.25 miles this morning. It was a beautiful morning. The sky was clear and the stars were bright. The moon looked really pretty and it was a lovely 64°F. I was a little quicker than usual. The cooler weather helps. I didn't see any wildlife today, but I did see this:
I guess Halloween is almost here.

8 miles this morning. Back to staying above 70F in the mornings. Nothing notable about today's run.

Good idea @Scott6255 . I have forgotten. What races are you doing?
@kgirlhart That would be a bit scary in the dark. Especially if is had any movement. Great running.
Great job on sneaking in a run before you left @tarun_yadavA . I hope you have a great trip and can find some time, and a place, to get in a few runs. Enjoy!
Welcome @StormeStorme . What are your goals? We'd love to know.4 -

It's been a few days since I posted, again. I just noticed that a lot of what I wrote about the last three days has nothing to do with running. So, if you are interested in the "details," I put it under the spoiler.Sunday, after church, mom and I had lunch with my niece and her family. She let us know that she is pregnant again. This will be her third. They have 2 little girls and are hoping for a boy this time. We're so happy for them.
After I got home, I walked almost half a mile to visit with the people who bought the property next to me. They are coming here a few times a year and camping out. They are planning to build a house and move here - in 6 years or so! Anyway, I figure it is good to get to know them before they show up permanently. They are really nice people, or at least seem to be. The lady and I took a stroll around their property. She gets lost, but since it used to be my families property, I know where to go. LOL Had a nice visit. Then, I walked fast back home, plus a little to get my fast mile in. I had about 45 min before needed to leave to play tennis at the indoor court in town. That was fun, but I was off my game and lost all three sets we played 2-5. LOL
Monday I worked most of the day at daycare. I did take a break in the morning to meet my brother and mom at the lawyers office to finally complete my dad's probate, we hope. Afterwards, I did a treadmill fast finish run. I don't always do it, but I did run the entire 30 minutes, slowing down to try to keep my HR below 140 for the first 25 min. The "fast" finish I did at 5.0 mph. It was pretty good and it wasn't really hard. I just have this mental block about running distances without a walk break....which I really seem to have to do if I am running the driveway hills. I just can not run up hills and keep my HR down. Heck, I can't walk fast up hills and keep my HR down, regardless of my fitness level.
Yesterday, I did a foundation run on the driveway after work. Did okay keep my HR in the correct zones. I did walk up the hills.
I'll try to post again after today's workout, but don't know when that will be. I'm heading to mom's in a bit to be there when electricians come to do some work for her. I don't know how long that will take.5 -

10/10: 7.1 miles
10/11: 3 miles
Easy 3 miles in the rain before work. I didn't expect to see anyone in the dark and rain this morning so I was surprised when a group of 10-15 middle aged guys came through, slowly running the opposite direction. Most of them looked unprepared for the elements. Lots of cotton t-shirts and no hat. I've never seen them before. Maybe a new run group has started up. Other than the group, it was a very quiet run and the perfect level of rain.
According to Garmin I have progressed from overreaching to maintaining. 😉7 -

It was a another beautiful morning. It was a little warmer than yesterday at 68°F, but it was still pretty pleasant. I ran 7 miles. I did see a skunk. I heard some rustling in the grass next to me and looked down and there he was. He was probably about 4 feet away from me. I do not usually get that close to skunks. Other than that it was a nice, but uneventful run.

I met a friend for 5 miles this morning. It was a bit warmer at 57F than it has been this week. Said friend had to make an unexpected bathroom stop at Burger King and while waiting for her I ran through the adjacent Taco Bell drive-thru and found a quarter, dime, nickel and two pennies! Score! Not sure if I have mentioned this before but all the local runners in my area pick up any money that they find on runs throughout the year. In December, there is a fun run on Christmas morning and everyone brings their collected money and can goods and all of it is donated to the local food bank.

Goal of 100 miles. Doing well. Apple watch challenged me to run/walk 8.5 miles per day 14 times and of course I want to finish it in the first 2 weeks right? But honestly I am finding enjoyment in the longer runs now that my back has decided to be better. I don't know if I can take any more of these 5-6 month strange injuries.. So strength training and flexibility and lots of abs/back work to try to avoid.
This morning I did NOT have time but I decided to do 7 anyway. Work won't shoot me. It was cool and misty and normally I take that as an excuse not to run but today after psyching myself up with a promise of 20 min. OK maybe 30 min. WHy not a 5k? Ok what about 4 miles? Then ok I feel pretty good so just do 7. LOL. I am a mental case. Still loving the Pumas. They feel so comfy to me now. It will be interesting to see how long they last!
@tarun_yadavA yeah for PHOTO POSTING and nice to see you are going to be someplace to run tomorrow.
