We had our Christmas at our daughter's house this morning.
Yesterday evening we were at my wife's side of the family Christmas.
It was a pleasant day at the park. It was mid-afternoon when I got there. There were more people there than I expected. And so I guess Christmas is over for another year.

On the bright side, mom is still symptom free, but the separation is taking a toll on her confusion and the isolation is hard on both of us. I still have to sterile/Clorox up to get her eye medication in. We managed to have Christmas on Facebook messenger with my siblings. The gingerbread tree:6 -
Hugs to you @project9percent . I hope things get better for you and you are right, you can't take care of those you love if you don't take care of yourself first.
Great picture of the family and neighbors @tarun_yadavA . Your mom looks great. You are so consistent with your runs, regardless of what you did the night before. I commend you for that.
You're doing great @emptydog .
@SummerSkier Believe FitBit. You did great! Congratulations of the speedy run!
Great running @Teresa502 ! Love the picture.
Fantastic progress @yirara !
@kgirlhart I'm glad that your Christmas was better than expected, even if it was different. I'm also glad that you are feeling some better. The Oreo Balls are easy to make, they just take time.
Nice that you got your exercise in after the Christmas festivities @emptydog .
That's a huge, beautiful tree @AlphaHowls ! Great job on the crazy laps. I hope you feel better soon and that your mom continues to be symptom free.

I had intended to run this morning, but didn't have time. Mom and I had four of our neighbors at her house for lunch today. We had a great visit and, of course, too much food. I wound up doing a wun this afternoon, with the heavy lunch still not totally digested.
I hope everyone has had a very Merry Christmas!6 -
Merry Christmas, everyone!
I'm back home in Poland. The past few weeks have been a blur, but I think we managed to make Christmas good for the kids 🙂 My husband wanted to make Christmas dinner, so I made my cookies a few days early and got out of his way. Lately it seems like something has been suppressing some of my symptoms, and I'm not sure if it will last, but it's definitely welcome right now. I'm back to my backyard cold water tub, and don't share all of those activities on Strava, but am still doing it daily.
Those of you with Covid and other illnesses, do get well soon, and please be careful with returning to previous activity levels too quickly. If you aren't feeling better or running doesn't feel good, just rest some more, take the vitamins or whatever helps you, stay hydrated... you know the drill 😉8 -
Wine last night, mimosas this morning, 2 cups of coffee made for another 10K PR today (3rd one in 4 weeks) 😊
Great running this Christmas everyone!9 -
Hi everyone. Got in 7 this morning (at 09"44 pace).
Hope everyone had a nice Christmas! 😊
Really struggling. 5 consecutive days of eating/drinking.
Got to my in-laws last night and my brother in law was "Beer?" (And it's like my stomach cried on the inside). Spotted wife's cousin drinking Jameson - so went with that instead.
@quilteryoyo - thank you! ❤️ I hope you and your mother/family had a great one!
@scott6255 - 🥂 love it, Sir! 🙌
Next you will be labelling your Strava runs as "hungover 10K" etc etc, like a certain someone here. Haha
@SummerSkier - awesome running with the new shoes!
@polskagirl01 - merry Christmas. Bet you're glad to be back with hub and kids! 😊
Have an enforced off-day tomorrow, as early start on the road , and then stuff to do.8 -

That’s my friend in the forefront with the glam eyes! I don’t know how she does it, but this woman runs with full make-up, hair done, every…single…day! I simply don’t care enough to put that kind of work in plus I sweat a lot and mascara and make-up in the eyes is painful. I’m definitely anti-pain!7 -

Oh that's funny. I am totally with you on the how does she do it thing! I started getting my lashes 'done' about 8 or 9 years ago and it's SO freeing not to worry about eye makeup anymore.3 -
I got in a pleasant 2 miles this morning. It looks like I will get to my goal for this month. Hopefully. Only one other guy was there who walks most mornings.
The thought came to me this morning that to commemorate New Year's Day, I would run at the park and start at the stroke of 12 midnight, sharp. A kind of start the new year right type of thing. There are streetlights for about a mile and I could go out and back like I did this morning. When I finish, I will bring a bottle of non-alcoholic beer and toast the new year.
I will invite my running friend P to come along as well. I haven't mentioned this to my wife yet. But she is pretty good about these things.

I got in a 6 mile run between rain showers today. I had an appointment for an oil change for my car so I ran while it was being serviced. Today’s run put me at my monthly goal. It was 52F and very humid. I finished my run at the door of the dealership and went in to pay my bill. The lady behind the counter asked if I had been to a tanning bed because my face was so red!
My highest mileage month this year was 125 miles in July. With 5 days left in the year, it’s possible, but not likely that I will reach 125 again this month. The weather is too iffy the next few days for me to commit to that. We’ll see…
I like your New Year plan @emptydog!
Good job on those stride repeats @yirara!

And the cold front came in!! We had highs in the 50’s today and much less humid. Absolutely beautiful running weather.
I hadn’t planned to run the last 2 days. Our holidays are usually busy enough that I just take running off my list of things to do. Lots of family time and traditions that we still have a few years to enjoy before the kid gets too old for them. Looks like people had good holidays, though some a little different from planned. This is my last day off work, so back to the routine tomorrow but just for 3 days. Our group switches off Christmas and new years weeks so this year I have new years week off. I’m planning to head up to the hill country to enjoy my week off.7 -
Busy with kids today, then helping them pack up and get them on the road. So just did 4 TM miles today.

I finally got out for a run and I tested negative for Covid. I felt better yesterday, but still tested positive. But today I am feeling normal so I got out for a run. I just did half of what I would normally run on a Wednesday. Trying to ease back into it and not overdo. The run felt good. It was colder than I like, but
the moon was bright and I was happy to be running again. Plus I got to try out some new sleeves that I got for Christmas.
I won't make my goal this month. I thought about changing it. I feel confident that I will hit 100 and probably a little more, but I decided to leave it at 130 as a reminder to myself that sometimes we don't hit our goal, and that is ok. I did my best this month. I didn't not hit it because I slacked off, so I will just take what I get this month and feel good about that.

I worked on the January 2024 post, getting it ready. I know some are already thinking of resolutions/goals and what not...should I go ahead and get it posted so people can start getting goals/thoughts ready?8

@kgirlhart so glad you’re negative for Covid and feeling better!
@Teresa502 great job on surpassing your December goal!
@AlphaHowls thanks for setting January up!
@martaindale and @Scott6255 great job on getting miles in while still enjoying family time!
@yirara glad your stamina is improving 😀
I had a session with my PT at the Y this morning. Did 3 mile interval walk/run on treadmill this afternoon. Pouring rain here all
day.

@emptydog Yes, I believe in you 😀 You'll make goal!
@kgirlhart great that you tested negative and are on the other side of Covid!
@Teresa502 congrats on making your December goal!
@AlphaHowls thanks for setting us up for the new year! I still have to decide what my 2024 goal(s) will be, but glad there is a home to land when I do.
6.2 miles this evening. Didn't really want to get out in sub 50F 16mph weather, but did it anyway. Wasn't as bad as I imagined it would be. Probably will take off until Saturday.

I'm glad to see that you are feeling some better @polskagirl01 !
@Scott6255 It looks like you may have found your secret to speed - wine and mimosa's. Congrats on the 10K PR! You're killing it. Great job on your other runs too.
@tarun_yadavA I think you do great when you run with a bad hangover. At least you don't let it stop you.
Nice running @emptydog . That sounds like a great way to start out 2024 and I hope your running friend will join you.
You are doing great @Mari33a .
That's great @yirara !
You are doing great @Teresa502 . I like that you ran while your car was being serviced and that the lady thought you had been to a tanning booth. I guess running wasn't the first thing on her mind.
Great running @martaindale . Enjoy the hill country next week!
I'm glad you are feeling better @kgirlhart and had a good run today.
Thanks for setting up Jan @AlphaHowls and excellent mileage on those shoes. Are you feeling better?
You're doing great @daria0919 .

I didn't have time to post yesterday. I did a short run and walk on the treadmill and then got stuff together and went to my niece's house for the family Christmas gathering. I didn't get home until late. It was nice to spend time with family and play with the 3 little ones.
Today, I had a meeting with my insurance agent at 1, so I did a walk on the treadmill this morning. I didn't want to run, mostly because I didn't want to sweat enough that I felt like I would have to take a shower before heading out. I did walk faster than normal though. Yesterday, on my run I was doing a portion at 4.2 mph and felt like I could have been walking at that pace, so did walk part of it and it was okay. I didn't feel like I needed to start running. So, I walked faster today than normal. I did 5 min each at 3.8 - 4.1 mph and then a little over 10 min at 3.8 mph. I started sweating at the faster speeds. It wasn't bad, so I may be able to do faster walks in the future.
It was really nice here this afternoon, so Tippy and I took a walk/stroll into my neighbor's field. It was nice and peaceful and the sky was beautiful.8 -

Nice evening. It's good to move around a bit. I'm pretty healthy and not running, some on this thread are on the cusp of shuffling off this mortal coil, yet still pop up and get in their three. Amazing.

I ran at the lake this morning and was the only one there. I started a little before 5 am and usually, there are a few others there. It was a damp, misty morning but a warm temperature for this time of year and an enjoyable time. And I got my goal for the month.
@tarun_yadavA I had a dream a night or two ago and you were in it. It was definitely you. I put it in a spoiler and wonder if that makes any sense to you.You and I were out to dinner. The restaurant was a big, old, ornate house. We were in a dining room, sitting across the table from each other. I was impressed with the house and said, "This is an amazing old house. Very classy. Imagine what it would be like to live here."
You said, "As a matter of fact, I do live here."
I said, "Wow, this must be a great place to live."
Your demeanor changed. You stiffened up, got serious, and said, "No. This is not a good place to live. This is not a nice house at all."
And that was the entire dream. When my mother-in-law was alive, she was a firm believer that dreams had a meaning. Not so much for me. But it was interesting to me, vivid, and well remembered.

I was not ready to get up at 4:00 am and run this morning but I did and it is now done. So true is the say “You will only regret the run you didn’t do.” It was damp, foggy and 34F. We’re forecasted to have snow the next few days so I’m glad I met my goal for the month and the rest is just icing on the cake.
@kgirlhart – Glad you are feeling better and are testing negative! Don’t stress over not making your monthly goal. You are fully justified! I know it’s hard because you always surpass your monthly goals but it will be ok this one time!
Thanks for starting the January thread @AlphaHowls! How are you feeling?
Congrats on reaching your goal @emptydog!
Beautiful picture of the sky @quilteryoyo.
Speedy running @Scott6255 and @tarun_yadavA!
