Congratulations on meeting your months goal already @emptydog .
Great running this morning @Teresa502 . We're supposed to have rain, but only snow showers in the mountains here. I'm not sure I am ready to deal with the white stuff, even though it is pretty.

I ran at the lake this morning and was the only one there. I started a little before 5 am and usually, there are a few others there. It was a damp, misty morning but a warm temperature for this time of year and an enjoyable time. And I got my goal for the month.
@tarun_yadavA I had a dream a night or two ago and you were in it. It was definitely you. I put it in a spoiler and wonder if that makes any sense to you.You and I were out to dinner. The restaurant was a big, old, ornate house. We were in a dining room, sitting across the table from each other. I was impressed with the house and said, "This is an amazing old house. Very classy. Imagine what it would be like to live here."
You said, "As a matter of fact, I do live here."
I said, "Wow, this must be a great place to live."
Your demeanor changed. You stiffened up, got serious, and said, "No. This is not a good place to live. This is not a nice house at all."
And that was the entire dream. When my mother-in-law was alive, she was a firm believer that dreams had a meaning. Not so much for me. But it was interesting to me, vivid, and well remembered.

@emptydog I got nothing Sir!
I can't think of anything... I mean... Back at my mother's till NYE... Did a continuous 2week stint upto the 22nd... Hers is a much bigger house than mine - and we were going stir crazy here a bit toward the end... But other than that. Got nothing 🤷🏽
@Teresa502 thank you 😊4 -

@Teresa502 I am hanging in there. Still dragging my little dwarfs around, little curses have made themselves at home. Today is Sneezy, Snotty, Achy, and Grumpy shows up every so often. Dopey has made an appearance (COVID brain) and I lose my words every so often. I did lose my sense of taste and smell. I can tell salty or sugary and that is it.

Mom and I have a funeral to attend later today, so I got my run in this morning. I really wasn't in the mood, so was proud of myself for running 3 miles. Today, I did a walk/run of 2/3 min at 4.2/4.3-4.5 mph then 4.0/4.6-5.0 mph. It wasn't too bad to get in the three miles. Pace was slow, but not as slow as it would have been had the walks been at 3.8 mph. I did do the warm up and cool down walks at 3.8 mph.
My niece did great with her family's Christmas gift to me this year. It's running related. Pictures under the spoiler.
They got me the frame. I printed the picture from my Dec race and put it in this morning.
Running necklace.8 -
I’m chuckling…. @AlphaHowls please do share your interpretation of the dream.
@quilteryoyo nice getting the 3 miler in. The gifts from your niece are wonderful! Both very meaningful.
@emptydog great job in teaching your December miles!
@Teresa502 nice job on the run!
I’m heading out shortly to get about 3 in while it’s not raining.7 -
chris_in_cal wrote: »I'm okay. I was surprised the week one long run was seven miles too. Week two long run is a more reasonable five miles. Perhaps the coach wanted to wake up us participants, and to shake out the half-hearted.
I quit that plan and started a different one this week. Jumping into 7 and 9 milers didn't seem right. I can do it, but I got horribly chaffed on a hot seven mile run. I took time off to heal, and created a different and hopefully more reasonable half-marathon training plan. ( Thumbs down on Coach Jeff Galloway )7 -
I'm forming an unofficial @kgirlhart fan club.
Through illness and personal loss she clipped 3000 days straight on MFP, and also popped up and got her runs in.
On my best day, on my very best day, I'm sure I couldn't hang with her fortitude.
Using my personal Karma meter I believe you are going to have the most amazing 2024. I'm looking forward to riding it out with you (and everyone else here)7 -
Thanks @quilteryoyo for your warm message and thanks everyone who left a hug.

Hi all
Got in 8 (or 8.01 -thanks Strava!! 🤯; at 09"35 pace).
Out tonight... Anniversary... Calorie carnage again.
Just tonight and NYE... Then back to routine.
Weird - I usually hate Januarys and find them quite depressing. But this one can't come soon enough.7 -
Hi everyone! Merry Christmas- I’m know I’m a few days late . I hope you all had a great time. My brother and his GF were visiting from NY, so I was pretty busy. I have gotten 3 runs in that I didn’t post though.
25.12. Christmas run 7.1km. We had never ending rain here and lots of flooding.
Some pictures of the flooding of our normally very narrow river. As you can see in the first picture some streets are completely impassable.
28.12. 10.4km trying to get back into the swing of things and work off some of the holiday goose, falafel, and cookie carnage . Slippery mud on the route caused by the flooding almost caused me to lose my footing. I also didn’t feel very safe in the forest bit as there were multiple downed trees due to the heavy rainfall.
29.12. 14.3km Trying to get some end of the year distance in to get closer to my mileage goal. I steered free from the forest today.
So far 132.4km/160km for December.
I’m not sure I’m going to be able to run my sausage race as we are having visitors come for New Year’s. Fingers crossed they can do without me for a few hours so I can run my race.6 -
I've got one to add to the weird dreams... I don't think any of you were in it, but potentially you all could've been there because it involved running...Last night I dreamed I ran a 5k. Except the course was measured wrong and it was short (ended up maybe 4k). But also my watch got accidentally paused during part of it and I didn't know how many loops I had left, so I may have gone around an extra time. Either way, the whole thing took me 15 minutes (definitely a dream 😆, I've never been that fast). Anyway, running & racing felt good. My kids had set up a tent in the spectator section inside the race loop. There was a stage with various things going on, but I wasn't paying attention to that. I laid down in the tent for a while until my husband showed up and was ready to go. So we started packing things up. Then the wind picked up, and our packing got a bit more hurried. Then there was a sound that started out like thunder, but kept going and got louder and louder, until it was definitely not thunder. I was searching for my shoes and trying to get them on, and looked out of the tent to see a bright orange light growing behind the trees. As the light got bigger, I saw that it was actually a volcano erupting. And then I woke up.I guess the interpretation is, go for a run because the end of the world is on its way? 🤷♀️🤣
I guess my standard tornado dreams, and planes falling from the sky have got boring enough that they don't bother me anymore - I just realize "oh, I must be dreaming then, ok." Erupting volcano is a new one for me.7 -
@tarun_yadavA Out tonight... Anniversary... Calorie carnage again.@AlphaHowls I do not know either of you personally except what you have offered here, and knew exactly what the dream was about.
A couple of days ago I mentioned running at the stroke of midnight for the new year. My friend P would rather run at 11 pm on New Year's Eve and drop into the bar at the hotel at midnight. The hotel is on the lake at the edge of the park. That is fine with me. So I guess that is the plan.

It was really cold this morning. 32°F, feels like 25°F. I ran 6 miles. It was a pretty good run, just cold. I was glad I had my new sleeves. I wore two pair and it worked really well. My hands were cold though, even with my mittens. The grass was all sparkly and it was a pretty morning, but I didn't see anyone else out. I did see a dog. He was coming down the street and he looked as leery of me as I was of him. We both seemed to be thinking "Who is this dog/human? Why are they here? Is this a threat?" But I didn't bother him and he didn't bother me. So it was all good.

@emptydog the dream made sense to me also since @tarun_yadavA has been staying at his Mom's house to help and not enjoying himself there. I personally like the plan of RUNNING in the new year better than DRINKING in the new year but then again I don't drink much and orange juice and champagne would be my staple if I had to drink something to be socialable. 🤣🤣
@kgirlhart when its THAT cold like this am, I put those little hothands inside my mittens. Sometimes I have to ball up my fists inside them also so my thumbs don't go numb. Glad to see you on the other side of your COvid and not relapsing as I know some variants will do to people when they think they are better.
@quilteryoyo I love that photo of Skippy in the field. I didn't know you were quite that rural but it reminds me SO much of the daily rides I had on Bandit in the hayfields for many years. Spoiler photos from our last ride in Dec 2021.
@AlphaHowls thank you for setting us up for January. I sure hope those stupid dwarves leave you alone and your taste and smell return for the new year so you can go back to be our lone Snow White. 🙂 I lost my tastebuds once during a flu in 2018 and it was the strangest thing.
@polskagirl01 that is a strange dream. Esp a volcano!!! Any friend s traveling to Hawaii and taking photos? Maybe it is a sign that you will start to feel well again in 2024 and run a 5K~ 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Todays run was super fast for me again. I don't really know why except maybe the GPS has turned the worm over or something but since right before Xmas all of a sudden I am getting a lot of splits under 10 min pace. It's probably been over a year since I had a 10K under an hour but I felt motivated today when I realized how fast I was clocking. It was cold in the 30's but light wind and clear and taking the day off work I could run when the sun came up. I ended up taking my mittens and my hat off about half way thru the run and I was sweaty under my turtle neck when I finished up. I sprinted to end the 10K and then I dropped my mitten from my pocket so I had to pause my watch. And noticed my HR was 195. WOW. Anyway, I toned it down a little to finish the 7 miler.
Original goal was 140 based on previous years activity in Dec. Which turns out not to be a great predictor. LOL. I changed it to 100 and today to 110. I like to meet my goals even if I have to adjust them for reality. A bit of twisted logic but it makes me happy so there we are. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️

December total: 129.5/164 miles
12/1: 6 miles
12/2: 12 miles
12/4: 9 miles
12/5: 2.7 miles
12/7: 5 miles
12/9: 10 miles
12/11: 8.8 miles
12/13: 5.1 miles
12/14: 8.1 miles
12/15: 6 miles
12/17: 12 miles
12/18: 5.7 miles
12/21: 8 miles
12/23: 10 miles
12/26: 6.5 miles
12/27: 5.1 miles
12/28: 9.5 miles
Interval workout yesterday morning that I didn't get around to logging. 1.5 mi x 4, target pace 9:08. Actual splits: 9:04, 9:07, 9:11, 9:07. Very happy with those. I'm feeling ready for my race in a couple of weeks.
Definitely not making my goal this month but I kinda saw that coming. Between holiday busy-ness and how burned out I was feeling earlier in the month, I'm not surprised. I did a few walks in place of runs just to get outside and while I didn't add those in here, I know they contribute to time on feet and that still helps me work towards my goal.6 -
You can do it @daria0919 !
@kgirlhart I'm glad you are feeling better and got in a couple of nice runs. Glad the dog wasn't ferocious.
Great run @tarun_yadavA ! Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your evening out.
@Laurz9191 That is a lot of water/flooding. I hope everyone was safe and I don't blame you for steering free of the forest for a few days. I'm sure your visitors know that you are a runner, so just tell them you had this race planned before you knew they were coming and you'll be back in a couple of hours. Then, go run! I'm sure they will be okay until you get back.
@polskagirl01 I had to snicker about the plane crashes and tornados getting boring for you. That is a weird dream. My interpretation is that you are missing running, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and you're going to start feeling better and be able to run a 5K soon, with the volcano as an incentive to run fast.
My latest dream about running was that I had run 20 miles and had to get on a bus to be transported to the "next leg" of the race. When I got there, there was a sign that said it was 70 miles long. Umm. Don't think so, so I gave up at that point.
That is a good plan too @emptydog . Enjoy.
@SummerSkier Love those pictures of Bandit. It does look like similar surroundings. My neighbor's field is over 60 acres, so it's easy to be all alone there. That's where I walk when I need peace and quiet to think or when I want to rave out loud to the world about the things that are going on in my life that I don't necessarily like. LOL It make me feel better to say it out loud and there, no one can hear me. I may have to rethink that once the owners build their house on the property, but that will be another 4 or 5 years. Great running today! You are getting really speedy these days. Congrats on the awesome 10K time. I say your goal is your goal, so you can do with it what you want and if it still motivates you, but makes you happy, so for it. 110 miles in a month is awesome.
Those are some speedy intervals @martaindale ! You are going to do great in your race!

I wanted to spend about an hour on the treadmill today, but didn't want to run quiet as far as I did yesterday. Today, I did a run/walk of 4/2 min at 4.5-4.7/4.2, 4.8-5.0/4.0 mph. Avg pace was 13:12 min/mile. Avg HR was 134 with a max of 151 bpm. I may just make my 80 mile goal after all.5 -
I forgot to comment @Laurz9191 that flooding is CRRRAZZZZY and I hope you can get to do your race after all. Seems like flooding in Europe and other locations but the Panama Canal is reduced traffic due to drought which is strange. I always kind of thought they used the 2 oceans to fill it for ships and such but what do I know. I guess I could google it right? 🤣4

And then I woke up.
I guess my standard tornado dreams, and planes falling from the sky have got boring enough that they don't bother me anymore - I just realize "oh, I must be dreaming then, ok." Erupting volcano is a new one for me.
I guess the interpretation is, go for a run because the end of the world is on its way? 🤷♀️🤣

The Dream:I had a dream a night or two ago and you were in it. It was definitely you. I put it in a spoiler and wonder if that makes any sense to you.
You and I were out to dinner.
I do not do dream interpretation, I only impart what I see in behaviors. This is part of my profession as a Licensed Professional Counselor. So, all this comes from my perspective in 'watching' even 'reading' about behaviors. It is not right or wrong, it is what is 'seen'. This is by no means 'diagnosis' or 'judgement.' It is just my opinion of what I read/see.The house is not a house, it is @tarun_yadavA. The demeanor change is from the behaviors, negative vs. positive. On the one side, the house 'looks' good, but when you look inside the house, the house is having trouble keeping up with the 'looks'. The house runs for health, but the behaviors destroys the value, the vicious cycle of choices between healthy and unhealthy behaviors. Sometimes we have to make choices, good, bad, or indifferent. We also have to realize, we are models for behavior to all who care to see.7 -
Wow @AlphaHowls that is deep! But very insightful.5

This was more quick stride repeats. Fun stuff. Some consistency for a week or two is going to help. Have a good NYE weekend everyone.

Long run in the hills today but cut it short at 8 miles instead of 12. The weather was fantastic and the first few miles ticked by quickly. Then around mile 5 I started feeling some tightness and twinges in my calf and Achilles, the same one that had tendonitis last year. It wasn't bad and probably was just a weird nothing that would have gone away but I decided not to take the chance. My race is 2 weeks away and I'm not gaining fitness at this point but could do some damage that would derail my goal. Time for some TLC today and I'll see how it feels later. Right now it feels fine. I'll do some foam rolling too as it's possible the sensation wasn't threatening tendonitis but just muscle tightness.8
