Hello I'm Darlene and have been with this group for a while now. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023. 💖I wouldn't be where I am today without this group (along with a couple other challenges I am in); I am so thankful for their support and accountability. 💖
My Goals for January
⚖️ Lose 4 pounds (always my goal)
👣17k Steps Daily with one day of rest

🥗 Stay under my calorie range
💪 Strength Train 3 days per week
🧘♀️ Tai Chi or Yoga 1 day per week

Jan 1: 163.8 👣 📝 🥗 💦 Happy New Year!
Jan 2: 163.8 👣 📝 🥗 💦 Met my New Year's goal - did a 10K walk yesterday AM. Was ravenous all day, but managed to stay under my calorie limit by 5 calories. I would say a successful day. I'm still .2 pounds away from my lowwest weight (just before Christmas).
Jan 3: 162.8 😁 👣 📝 🥗 💦 Funny thing happened to yesterday. Greg, Monty and I started the Airline Trail today (I am feeling nostalgic so want to do it again, and we started off with a big one day 6.2 miles. When we got back to the car, Greg noticed he didn't have his wallet. Thought he left it on the counter at home. Got home, no wallet, now we think he must have dropped it on the trail as we were walking, so we drove back to the trail at the half way point. Greg went one way - I went the other looking for the wallet, another 3.7 miles and didn't find it. When we got home - Greg remembered he took the truck out yesterday - left it in the center console. LOL! So, my 6.2 walked turned into 9.9, silver linings I guess! Here are some pictures from the walk (the first time).
Jan 4: 162.8 👣 📝 🥗 💦
Jan 5 : 163.4 👣 📝 💪 💦 Couldn't sleep, got up, raided the pantry. When I posted last night it triggered me to stop, but a little too late. Today is my rest day. Off to visit my husband's cousin, celebrate Christmas. Will try to get a small walk in this afternoon. Won't be able to weigh everything, but we are bringing lunch with us, so should be able to estimate and log everything.5 -

Good morning this place. Walela (Carole) believe you me your not alone in this fluctuation business I should weight just once a week. Because even if I had what I thought was a great day yesterday under my calorie take in here. Yet this morning gained .6 has to be the popcorn didn't realize it was loaded with carbs. Some times you need to look where you went wrong. I'l blame it on the popcorn.
So started at 200

Oh well all I can do is have a good day today.5 -

Checking in as promised and thoroughly disgruntled. After 4 days of diet and not skipping a single work-out (even in the morning, which is so hard); I managed to gain half a pound.
I know it might be water weight - or even muscle gain, or just the time of day. It's still annoying, frustrating, and demoralizing. * Grinds teeth in anger. Tomorrow is another day.7 -
I realize there's a weight logging tool here but I also use the "Monitor your weight" app because it has a fabulous weight graph. There's a few extra lines on it to monitor your progress. I took a screenshot of their explanation of how it works.. it could possibly be helpful to the recent few mentioning how much daily weighing doesn't work for them. As long as those weighins keep trending down it doesn't really matter the tiny fluctuations up and down daily. Don't forget first thing in the AM, naked after a bathroom break would be the most ideal time as you wouldn't be weighing the food, drink, clothing or waste in your body. 😉
ETA let us know how it works out for you if you give it a go! I'm going to log losses here on mfp but log every day for this trend line information over there.

Today I will get my hearing aids repaired. They have been on the blink for about a week because I've had to wait to get an appointment. I have to say, I've enjoyed my quiet week. However, the most frequent word in my vocabulary has become, "What", and I know it frustrates others to repeat things and to speak loudly to accommodate my poor hearing.
Hopefully, after today I can reduce the number of times I use the word "What" and focus again on reducing my weight. Ha! "What" do you think about that?

01/04-182.0-(Trend Weight 180.7)- My Christmas Dinner was on the 30th. I always suffer from intense cravings after people-gathering holidays. Last night I satisfied my craving for Pasta. I wish I would have stuck to the roast beef I had planned. I’ll have that tonight, it’s already in the crock pot. I need to be a good girl as the scale is getting out of hand. I’ve been working at taking down the Christmas decorations and all the Christmas trees (5 of them). I hope to finish up today. At least I’m getting lots of steps in and climbing lots of stairs!
01/05-DNW-(Trend Weight DNW)- Back to my school bus schedule for DGS in Kindergarten. Up at 6:15 which is about 4 hours earlier than usual so I typically do not weigh on Fridays. Yesterday I worked on finishing up removing and packing up the Christmas décor. So many steps! It felt like the old days when I worked before retirement!

Started a vision board. It’s in my home office. Whenever I feel down, lose motivation, have cravings, I go stand in front of it. I add stuff everyday. So far I have my before picture, events I’m doing this year so far, sayings that inspire me, other bodies that inspire me. It helps me. “Love” is for love your body now, love the process, love the opportunity you have to better yourself, love that I will mess up but I can always keep trying.
Have never posted a picture here so not sure if it will work.
