Easing back into it after being off for 3 days. Got 8.3 miles in outside. It was quite warm at 73F.

Nice run @teresa502 . We had some sprinkles that sort of looked like maybe a little snow mix. I'm glad it has been warm enough to not snow this week.

I did my treadmill session pretty early this morning. I did have to cut it short since mom and I were going to a friends for an early lunch and then to the VA to see my cousin and talk to some of the doctors.
I ran 5 min at 4.5 mph, then 4 x (2/2 min at 5.5/4.0 mph), 4:50 min at 4.5 mph. It wasn't too bad, but really didn't have the mental energy to push it too hard. Avg pace was 12:55 min/mile. Avg HR was 129 with a max of 145 bpm.
Non running life under the spoiler.I was disappointed to find out on Saturday that my cousin's son has decided to not come in to see him and has decided that he doesn't want any further updates on his health. I'm not judging, since I really don't know the whole story, but I wish it could have been different.
Mom and I saw him today, and he knows who I am, but his back/rib is giving him pain and he really couldn't carry on any kind of extended conversations. We also talked to 4 doctors, I think, about what we do and don't want to do for his care. Hospice/palliative care will probably start tomorrow. Making all of those decisions is emotionally draining.....which does spill over into the physical realm.

@quilteryoyo I'm so sorry about your cousin and his son. Sad that this is his decision, but more so that the situation was such that he felt this was best. I hope they can both find peace with whatever happened, even if they don't do so together. And comfort for your cousin, and for you with all of the emotions of organizing his care.

I'm do home from Dublin last night, and really enjoyed the time with my sister. Headed out yesterday morning for a run but it didn't go as planned at all. I planned to run around a square and then go south towards the river and run along it, but must have turned left one time too many and knew I wasn't where I was supposed to be. A young guy stopped me asking for money and then a "friend" arrived and I started to feel a bit panicked and took off to sprint but as the pavement was wet I slipped and fell hard on my face and left arm. They ran off and I got up and felt really disoriented. I made it back to hotel eventually and my sister was really worried as I was about about 30 minutes longer than I told her I'd be. I had a shower and felt a bit better but have bruising on my left arm and wrist. My cheek and left eye is bruised and sore too and my knees are both skinned. On the plus side I didn't damage my watch or get robbed. I'm still short by a half mile for my monthly target!

@Mari33a That sounds like an awful run! I hope your injuries don’t bother you too much and don’t put a damper on your otherwise enjoyable trip! I’m glad you are ok!

I wanted to get in a long run in today, as the kids will be out of school at the end of the week and it was the only day I could work it in. I ran 27.7km. It went pretty well, but I underestimated how much water I should take and ran out with 8km to go, which made me a bit sad and feel more tired towards the end, but happy that I had some water in the car. The weather was perfect- around 10C. I am now quite beat and plan to do absolutely nothing the rest of the evening .
This month is the most km I’ve ever run in a month. I hope and can keep it up in February.

I finished up the month with a 5 mile run this morning bringing me to 86.3 running miles for the month. I didn't set a goal at the first of the month/year. TBH, I have a hard time setting goals and all the talk of monthly/yearly goals just overwhelmed me so I checked out for a few days! Given that this was the month of January and we had some really cold temps, snow and ice and I spent a couple of days traveling and a few days cruising, I'm happy with getting in 86 miles. @Mari33a - That's scary and I hate that you fell. I hope your injuries heal quickly.

Today I sent hubby off to the airport, went back to bed, then got up later and walked to pick up a package and sat in my cold tub. I'm also trying to think of activities for guinea pigs to do that I can photograph and send to the kids each day as they are away at camp and only get their phones for a few minutes a day. So far piggies made the kids' beds and played outside in the grass.

Completed my miles yesterday 130 running and today hit the goal for Walking and Running mile (169 per month total to make 2024 this year)

@Mari33a Wow. That's so scary. I'm glad you weren't hurt worse. Maybe you should get checked out since you were disoriented when you fell. I hope you aren't too sore from the fall. I had to smile at the "didn't damage my watch" part.

Did 6.2 miles this evening. 75F today...it felt sooo hot (like summer hot, but with lower humidity).
I know it was just a few days ago that I was complaining about how cold it was. This is a crazy world.

My final January total is 245.7km or 152.6 miles . I hope I can keep it up and get comfortable with the parts of my long runs above 2+ hours so I feel confident and ready for my marathon mid April.
Today I did a 8.1km recovery run on the treadmill. Slow but ok. I am waiting for my new running shoes to arrive (hopefully today). I think I ran about over 600 miles with my current pair, which is probably not so good for my feet/legs/etc…8 -

Did a mile walk on the treadmill as soon as I got up this morning to keep my streak going and get in my 85 miles for the month. A couple of my great neighbors, mom, and I are heading out in a few minutes to get Gary's stuff out of his room at the assisted living facility. Not sure how long it will take or how I will feel later, so wanted to get it done.8 -

And yes, you should probably change those shoes. 600 is a lot! I think I gotta change mine every 400. Me: erodes in one area of the shoe around the heel and think that maybe related to knee issues. Overcompensating etc. 🤷5 -
