My doctor appointment last Friday was interesting. I told him about my heart rate going up and he asked if I had an apple watch. I said yes and he showed me an app on my phone that recordes differnt heatlh things and stores them. So he went back to Oct 22 and saw where and how often it goes way up. So Thursday afternoon I go back to had a patch put on I wear for 2 weeks. Then I go next month to get the results and see what the next step it.
Rebecca--I mailed a package of last years calendars. The note I wrote I found on the floor later. So when you get the package from Nebraska with no note that is me. Hope you can use them.
Allie--So happy Carmine and Seth came to the party.
Carol--Hugs you have been missed. Take care of yourself.
Machka--Glad you are feeling better. On the death of your ex. I do not think there is any right or wrong way to feel. I know when my ex passed I had mixed feelings and we shared a son so I felt I had to be nice for his sake.
They were talking about a winter storm last evening in to today. When I got up and came to work it was 33 and cloudy. But since then it has gotten cold and windy. Started with rain and now snow. Have several inches so far and no sign of stopping. I am glad my night help is on site. A lot of staff is staying in empty patient rooms. Good old fashion snow storm. Gald DH has big truck with 4 wheel drive so I know I will get home.
Blessings, Vicki GRAND ISLAND, NE where you can not see 10 feet outside the door.
Heehee, no worries! I appreciate them. You sent a military one right? I have decided to use that one as my weight and measurement chart, thanks! I also received some parks calendars from one of you fine ladies so those are my "gift envelopes" that I put stickers into.💖. I appreciate them all!

Barbara - I did recommend “Only Murder’s in the Building”, I’m glad you’re enjoying it.
No storm damage is always a good thing.
Lanette - Is it Windows 10 they are stopping support on this year? I remember the IT guy at work saying the computers would need to be updated because they weren’t compatible with the new operating systems and I’m sure it was Windows 10 that we were running. The first Windows I used was 3.1 when I took my computer course in 1994-1995 a month before I graduated Windows 95 was released. Or at least updated at the school.
Allie - happy birthday to Miles. Love his little jacket.
I hear you about the mess! I am overwhelmed with it myself right now and can’t do a thing about it until my wall gets done. We’ve got this!
My MIL said her heart attacks changed her a lot. Even her tastes in food changed. She used to drink probably 7 or 8 coffees a day and went down to none for a few years. When she had her second heart attack she craved and wanted it again. She also called herself lazy afterwards. I don’t think it’s lazy, I think it’s different priorities and one of those is rest when we need it.
Barbie - How old is Annie? Will the chewing stop soon for you?
Machka - in my experience Covid hits everyone completely differently. Sorry you’re having such a struggle with it.
Sorry to read about your ex’s passing.
Rebecca - I can’t wait for you to share a picture of your sister’s painting. It sounds so beautiful and touching.
Those 4 months have flown!
Debbie - Ahh Bluey, yes a big favourite of my granddaughter’s I have only seen an episode or two as we don’t watch much tv when she is here, but her Mother actually watches it with her. She says it is one of the best shows she’s seen and she likes how it is done. She also said she doesn’t want to strangle herself after watching more than one episode at a time. She liked Handy Manny like that too.
Barbie - one of the things we did at the nursing home was “Armchair Travel” once a month the Rec department put “airplane windows” on the walls, had a cart done up like an airline, they watched videos of their destination and had a meal that the area is known for. They had trivia and a craft usually as well. It was well attended by our residents.
Margaret - interesting story. My DH watches the history of… series there is food, toys, technology. They are pretty fascinating.
Kylia - Lunch room slobs seem to be an issue in every business. The worse I have ever seen though was the home. It was just “expected” that housekeeping would do it. They even had a dishwasher.
I see the resemblance in you and your sister. It sure is funny how life works out?
I have been on Wellbutrin for the third time now since 2020 when things started going really south at work. I was debating last night if I need them anymore or not. I have been slowly cutting back, I just need to decide whether to fill the next prescription or not. My doctor and I talked about it and she suggested I not go off them in the Winter. So I probably will keep them for a while.
Terri - I agree winter is too busy for the Grim Reaper.
Sorry for the loss in your family.
Annie - your Dad probably needs some help remembering his meds now. It’s a lot on you.
Lisa - I tried to watch that Elvis movie and didn’t like the format at all. All of the cartoonish things turned me off.
Glad you had a great visit. That’s so nerve wracking when our babies are in the air or on the road.
Rita - the States has a lot that’s not available in Canada. A lot just stopped being available here during Covid. My biggest disappointment was Ragu Spaghetti Sauce and Bugles (the snack).
Cooper and Cayennes mom - I went back to school this year at age 55. I don’t know how you’re doing it at 70! Good for you.
Heather - when I’m logging I’m quite honest with it because I figure the only one I’m hurting is me if I don’t.
“But I wish we had known how to practice love better.” That spoke to me.
I think DH and I are content with one another right now and love each other dearly as friends. We need to work on practicing love more, that’s a good way to put it.
Lanette - I actually tracked my weight all week last week and was going to send you a report for today and then my homework overtook my evening yesterday. I’ll do it next week for sure
Vicki - I’m glad your doctor is looking into your heart quickly.
I remember nights my Dad stayed at neighbours “in the road” so that he could get to work the next day. We lived on a rural road that didn’t receive attention if school was going to be cancelled. We also took a couple people that were stuck “down the road” a couple of times I remember.
As I typed that I don’t know why when the road that runs the same direction is in or down, and not “in and out” or “up and down.” Things that make you go 🤔
Rebecca - Congratulations to your son.
I’ve had a teary day today. First I am planning a surprise party for our eldest who is turning 35 this year. I don’t know how that happened, since I was just 35 myself! Then as I was planning that with her sister and her best friend. Kaitlyn’s best friend sent the GoFundMe for Kaitlyn and Brodey.
She had the most beautiful words about these precious kids of mine. I just had to cry.
This is it if you’re interested in looking.
I’m ready for bed.

Well done going back to school. I've been an on and off perpetual student most of my life and I think I would like to return to school again when I retire.
What made you choose nursing?

Machka-regarding your ex, it really depends upon the nature of the relationship and the parting. If you had been close to someone in family, for instance, sending them a message might be appropriate. That doesn't;t sound needed. Perhaps something to help you let go of it all? Old resentments can hang on. Maybe take something like what you wrote about relationship and some of your worst feelings, put it on paper then somewhere in your lovely back yard, burn it to release it. A cleansing sort of process can be very freeing-and you don't have to worry about him any more.
Lisa-good to hear family returned safely-I get the worry.
Allie-I agree with others, we just have to move forward one step at a time. My house goes through those spells. I am focusing on the main living area and each day doing better. Sometimes I have to let something I started sit for a day or two then get back to it.
Rebecca-congrats on son! It is exciting to see our kids to be successful.
Didn't sleep overly well last night-woke about 2:30 with feet. The rain has moved in so don't know if that impacts it or not-am trying to pay attention to patterns. Got up, put some ice on them, took some Advil, did a sleep meditation and went back to sleep until 5. Rain is supposed to be heavy most of the day.
Need to run into work at 7:30 to get a meeting started (mainly have to announce to the advisory board that staff member is resigning (excited for her, increasing my work until replacement is found) then have to be at dentist by8-luckily short drive. Consultation for implant this am. Have not gone back on fosomax waiting for this procedure. Had canceled December appointment due to family coming in so didn't want to delay any more.
Off to stretch a bit then get ready to head in a bit early.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio5 -
Good morning ladies!
Machka I felt that way about my ex too. I just couldn't stand his presence. The thought of him made me burn with anger. Looking back, I blamed him for a few extra things, but mostly he deserved it. And he didn't deserve me.
I think Henry the horse will have to wait another week. Too much going on this week, not to mention a rainstorm. But I am really looking forward to riding next week.
We got the obituary done. The price to print the whole thing in the paper would be $950. Wow. I could probably print newsletters for less. So we will print about three lines, with a link to the funeral home website.
Have a great day my friends!

Good morning ladies,
I was up super early - the internet was down. Not surprising, it's been windy. Power is out right now in several areas surrounding me. Crossing fingers mine stays on. I had forgotten to draw a pail of water for flushing or even a pitcher of drinking water last night so got that taken care of. Have a battery operated radio ready to go. Wind is supposed to pick up here as the morning goes on but I think everything is tethered down. We'll see what it looks like when the sun comes up.
The internet just came back on so I'm catching up.
I found a package of chicken thighs in the freezer I need to stew this morning. Not sure what I'll make with them, maybe just some chicken soup. And it's always good to have diced cooked chicken onhand.
Vicki - hoping you made it home OK. Good that your Apple watch had been recording your heart activity and that your heart doc is getting on top of it quickly.
Back later-

Ginny - hope the consultation goes well on the implant.
Rebecca - Just loved seeing your son grinning over that award. I think it's funny that they let them write their award texts, but they look good on the promotion list, for sure. I'm glad he's got someone backing him for things like this. Glad to know your relationship with your sis is so strong. My sis and I vary from week to week, year to year, but I value the time with her, always. Haven't seen her for years, but I talk to her reasonably often.
Tracey - Thank you for sharing Kaitlyn's GoFundMe - friends like hers are so amazing to have in our lives. Sue was absolutely right about the tears taking cortisol with them, the stress hormone, so apparently you needed to get rid of some.
Terri - I'm so sorry for your loss. I think of you often, and aspire to be as creative and active in my community as you are someday.
Allie - Hope Miles' birthday was good for everyone, including the little smiley-man.
Simone ( @monie_is_getting_fit ) - Welcome, and yes, it's a very active group, both here online and IRL. This group is part of my everyday mental and emotional health, and keeps me motivated to keep my physical health as a priority. Well done on the weight loss!
Michele - Kinda lovin' the California Raisin.
@cayenneandcoopersmom - Well done on going back to nursing school!
@Jennifer6695 - Welcome! If you keep logging your food, MFP will certainly be a good way to help you understand how to get your weight and cholesterol in check.
Kylia - Congrats to your sister! You and she are both beautiful women, and very photogenic.
Vicki - So glad your heart doc is making sure they know what's going on. Heart stuff is scary, but so much better than it was when my mom was going through it in the 80s and 90s.
More in a bit -
Love y'all!

I felt marginally better today but still astoundingly tired.
When I got up, I cleaned a little bit in the kitchen and reorganised one small area. It took maybe an hour and I was done. Just exhausted.
So I sat outside in our new patio area, in the sunshine, and read. Later, we had dinner out there. It's nice.
In the evening I put away some clothes, then we watched North by Northwest ... first time for both of us.
While the movie was on, I did a bit of work for our cycling club ... creating banner pictures and events on FB.
Exciting days! So much activity! So tired! My Dr says the fatigue will gradually go away.

Good morning from the gray and gloomy Arkansas River Valley, with a little light rain/snow mix coming down.
It's just the remains of the huge storm that now stretches up as far as our Simone in Wisconsin and KJ in Michigan and will sweep across the entire Eastern Seaboard this morning, Apparently, I had ambitions to be a weather weasel (sorry, meteorologist - ) that I wasn't even aware of. I absolutely love watching the big systems work their way from west to east across the U.S. on the radar systems.
Regarding Wellbutrin - In the end, I think it helped me tremendously when I was getting off cigarettes and then off vaping. Eventually, I was able to ease myself off the medication without too much issue. I could definitely tell the difference--higher highs, lower lows off the medication. I needed the Wellbutrin to flatten that swing between the two for a while but was kind of glad to see they were still there when I got off it, if that makes sense.
Regarding supplements - My phone visit with the hematologist was good – all my iron and associated levels (hemoglobin, ferritin, etc.) were quite good in the last tests, and I’ve been able to reduce my supplements to half the levels of iron that I was taking, along with Vit. C. for absorption. Hopefully, it will help some of the digestive issues to settle down, and I’ll still be able to maintain my blood levels of iron and keep me out of anemia. Fingers crossed!
Regarding decluttering - Allie, I was thinking about you when I was sorting through a few things with Kelsey here. In my version of decluttering, one thing I sent home with my daughter was "My First Cookbook," which my mother included in a scrapbook she built and gave to me in my 30s. I finally got rid of most of the school attendance awards, etc., but kept the few things that truly mattered, and that was one of them. I sent it with Kelsey to give to my granddaughter, who at eight years old loves to cook. It made me realize that, if something won't matter to the next generation or the one after them, there's just no reason to keep it (like school attendance awards). Most things I can just take a picture of with my phone and let the physical item go--donate or trash. Barbie - you taught me that.
Haven't built a fire because I want to get some work done in my craft room this morning, now I've got it sorted out and usable again. Once there's too much clutter in there, I can barely walk in it, much less accomplish anything.
Hope it's a good day for all!
Much love from cold, rainy Arkansas,
Lisa5 -

Here is Annie in her new bed. She chewed through both layers of the back of her former bed and had started pulling out the stuffing. I considered trying to repair the old bed but realized that whatever I did, was likely to be chewed again. The new bed is designed for indoor/outdoor and is covered with a fabric that might be canvas. There is plenty of room for her to grow and have some toys available.
We set her birthday as May 19 based on what the shelter told us so she is about seven and a half months old now. We don't know when and if she'll stop chewing because we have limited information about her breed mix. I bought her another toy for heavy chewers and she has lots of others. We're learning a lot as she grows.
About ex husbands. I was able to let go of the resentment toward my ex husband relatively quickly thanks to the spiritual practices and principles that I use in my life. When he left, I told people that he "broke my heart and robbed me blind" which was pretty accurate. But a few years later when my father died, my ex husband phoned me to express his sympathy and when I got off the phone, my friend who had been sitting there during the phone conversation said that she had no idea that I was talking to him because my voice was kind and pleasant. I don't ever want to see him again and when he dies, there is no one who is likely to inform me, but I am grateful that I carry no resentment or ill will. it's too exhausting.

Good morning ladies, I just left my doctor. Things that I learned....wellburin in addition to quitting smoking and weight loss, helps depression. On the other hand, buspirone helps anxiety.Anxiety can have an effect on depression though. I am staying on the buspirone seems it seems to be working overall. They actually measured my height. I gained 1/2 inch somewhere! I am now 5'3". Dr still not happy with my LDL but extremely pleased with HDL (83). Still wants me on statins, I still declined. My fasting blood sugar was 106, so she just did an a1c. Also checking my vitamin d levels because of depression. I declined flu shot, but did get tetanus shot as it has probably been 20 years. Instructions are 30 mins intense exercise 5 days a week, so I need to up from my 20 minutes. Avoid fried foods and limit eating out. Continue to watch simple carbs. Overall, she is pleased with my health other than my refusal to take more drugs or get the flu or covid shot. Thank all of you for helping me on my health journey!
I will have more later, but need to get to work.

Yeah, I would have thought so too. Unfortunately, that’s what my Apple Watch says. I guess the good way to look at it is the more fit you are the less energy it takes / calories you burn to do stuff. I only burn 90-100 calories when running a mile. My resting heart rate is 49-50 beats per minute3 -
Terri I agree moderation is key... I am finding with the changes I have made in my eating moderation comes with it especially meat. I do agree with one of the videos that Lanetteis sharing that diversity in fruits and veggies is also a key in what to eat. He recommended 30 different fruits and veggies a week. I think I do that because nuts and herbs and spices are also included in this total. I added fresh ginger to a dish last night even though it wasn't called for. I thought it went well with the sweet and sour chicken made with fresh pineapple.3

Barbara AHMOD This is a picture of my spritzer. It doesn’t get used much, only to spray pans before cooking or lightly spay food or veggies while cooking. The green stuff, my DH put the bottom of a bunch of organic celery in a container in a little water, and this was the result! Looks pretty as well as edible! Cleaning the spritzer, with this top, it doesn’t leak so stays relatively clean. We got it about 6 months ago from Amazon and it still isn’t all ‘yucky’. To clean, we just wipe any spills off with a paper towel as they happen. To clean when empty, good old Dawn dish liquid or Baking Soda soak. I do use a sponge with a baking soda paste to remove any stuck stains or oils on any dish/pot/sink that needs it.

Allie I tried to text you an app I found to help with tracking the kidney restrictions, but it wouldn’t go from my iPad. It doesn’t have an extensive database like MFP, I think it is fairly new. I did send a message to MFP to add phosphorus to their list of nutrients. They answered that they are considering adding new things to their nutrient section. I have MFP premium so not sure if you can see all the nutrients of what you log. My diary is open and I have set all my nutrients according to what my kidney doc told me. I’ve been within range all week. Logging here really helps me control my eating and what I eat.

Ezie watches tv all the time-at home and here. First thing she does is turn the tv on- at least now she asks first. This started before she even started coming here, always had the tv on. It is hard for her if the tv is off. I am fine with it off so if I can keep her busy on a project, I have it off. I have even tried turning it to the cooking shows and she likes them too now.Total couch potato.
I really need to work on "practicing love better"
It won't get any better if I don't at least try.
Right now, I don't consider dh my friend. He is a irritating room mate most of the time.

Oh my... I roasted a two-pound butternut squash this morning, and blended it up with a lot of Tony Chachere's Cajun spice blend, and oh my stars and whiskers, that's one of the best cream soups I've ever tasted.
As noted the other day, I will occasionally eat cream-type soups, but this needed very little to turn it into an absolutely tasty, silky indulgent-feeling dish. I don't eat most vegetables (squash is technically a fruit) but this is something I will do again. Amazing. No more than 200 calories for three cups of heaven!
Got a little way on the quilt I'm working on, also got all our bedding washed and dried and back on the bed or put away... and one sheet repaired where Egg put a claw through it. Hopefully the repair will hold. Had to make up the bed around her again... Once she's got an idea, it would take a crowbar to get it out.
Yesterday morning I made phone calls to all three community doctors' offices to make sure they got referral continuations put through to the VA, and got positive responses back from all. It's been a couple of reasonably productive days!
Got all my per-hour steps in, only needed to respond to the Fitbit nudge twice yesterday and once today so far. Was on that nudge walk this morning when I heard something crash on the roof. Went outside, and that whipping wind had flipped the chimney cap completely off and it's now halfway down the roof at the back of the house. Not much I'm going to do about it right now. I do need to walk down to the mailbox, but it's no fun at 32 degrees and windy, and I've been procrastinating. Time to move!
Love from blustery Arkansas,
Lisa
