After work made a cake for this lady. We’ll probably go see her Mon or Tues after ceramics. I’d forgotten how hard it is to ice
Update on pedometer: nope, it isn’t the battery. The time is displaying just fine. I chatted with the company and they say it is a fault of the pedometer and they’re sending me a replacement
I think this antibiotic is working. My gum is still sore and inflamed, but not as much as it had been’
I prefer movies that are humorous (like Groundhog Day) or that I can relate to, like Animal House.
Evelyn – Like you, I don’t get sweaty on cardio machines. My heartrate is up, but I’m just not a person who sweats a lot. If I’m sweating, the ambient air is probably warm
Speaking of heartrate: pip, I meant to mention, your RHR is wonderful. Last time I checked, mine was in the high 50’s. Not sure if it’s still there
Katie = sure wish I was given the option of a rental vehicle. Alas, I get to park in the driveway!
Gyms can be expensive. I believe a family membership to the Y is in the area of $500. I switched to the other gym which was something like $300. However, now that I’m on Silver and Fit (not Silver Sneakers), it’s $50 in either place so I went back to the Y since they have a pool
Tracey – congrats on the great score . Knew you’d do it!
Lisa – “so cold you can see people fart” Girl, you just crack me up! Thanks
I usually have something going on, too. Usually crochet (or some other craft) and ceramics at least
Annie – (((HUG))))
Tina – congratulations!
The other day my neighbor asked me about cutting this tree limb. I honestly thought he was talking about the tree at the back of his property. Well, I put something in Jess’ room and heard this saw so I looked out her window wondering which tree he was referring to. It seems that one tree on the side of our house split the other day in the strong wind. I had no idea. Of course, he could clean up his property. Now I’m wondering just how strong that tree is.
My new bedspread came so I put it on the bed. I was just getting tired of the old one.

Today’s gratitude: hot running water; strong, knowledgeable, chiropractor; shelter from the storms.
Oh Annie, how very sad. Really brings it home to you where your father is. ((Hugs)) for your sister and you. Thankful your cousin will read the eulogy.
Tracey, Lisa, and Barbie, I almost installed WTForecast but couldn’t find out how much the subscription costs. Can you tell me?
Heather “grey of winter, bursting into spring.”
Margaret (((hugs)) hard awareness stage. Good for you for prioritizing your self care. ((hugs))
Lanette, not sure I ever aged past 19 in my heart… or maybe nine . . . Chrio worked the arm pretty good, sore today. Seems I strained/sprained all the muscles supporting the rotator cuff. Good news it’s strains/sprains, not tears. Rest, sling, ice and gentle movement are the rX, aspirin as needed. Joe’s been a champ, opening jars and the teakettle lid for me, and for getting Tumble OFF my shoulder when she laid down on me in bed. Aieee!
Carol I’m surprised your BIL’s memory care facility won’t allow people on oxygen. Makes no sense to me.
Joy -57C? with the windchill? :noway: Stay safe!
Debbie what is it with guys who think it’s funny their wives are frightened of scary/horror movies? SMH! I think it verges on abuse. Back in the early days of our relationship, Joe actually got me to sit through “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” afterward he said it was the best of its kind. I replied “Good, so then I’ve seen the best and I never have to watch one again!” And I haven’t. If he’s watching something scary, he’ll close the door to the man cave, and if the screams are too loud, he’ll turn it off and not watch it ‘til I leave the house.
Evelyn “I find if I pay for it, I'll do something, no pay, no go.” For me it’s the external discipline of a class, like line dancing, chair yoga or the pre-covid T’ai Chi, Better Bones and Balance. I’m impressed by all of you (especially you Michele) who direct your own exercise routines with such inspiring consistency.
Kay what a freak accident (garden tool causing garage door to fall. So glad all, including new car, escaped injury.
Machka I’ve never heard of training a dog to use a litter box. Mama “paper trained” all our puppies, back in the day before there were p-proof puppy pads. I have heard that some NYC apartment dwellers have balcony potties for their dogs.

Tracey “but I think it would get better if we were able to debate and talk more than just listen to a lecture.” Could NOT agree more. Discussion leads me to think about and internalize concepts. Just listening to a lecture does not. Glad you’re giving your foot a break. I’m doing likewise with my arm but after awhile I chafe at the restriction and get bored. Then I try to do something and NOPE! Frustrating.
Rebecca good luck. Won’t be surprised it they schedule the kitchen repair EXACTLY when your boys come home. :noway:
Lisa #ThingsYouLearnAsYouGrowOldTogether
Flea “…We will likely lose power at some point, because that's what we do.” Yup. Makes me grateful it hasn’t happened yet…
Tina WOW! You and Kylia are Energizer Bunny sisters from another mother. Well done!
Allie sMiles’ puddle jumping boots, but in the third pic are they on opposite feet?
Michele hope it was just the branch and not the trunk that was weak.
Time to get up and do something, anything. Will try prepping veggies for fellowship tomorrow, should be amusing one-handed…1/12: Move: ZERO sets PT, chair marching. , Steps:4660Later, lighter, lovelies!

Took Alfi to see Tom and Elena ,brought her Birthday present..
I feel horrible for them the house is 63 yrs old and because we have had so much rain the water is seeping up through the foundation they are wet vacing around the clock to keep up,he got rid of the sump pump because it was to close to the oil tank.
They were both happy to see Alfie..but boy has he aged.. between him bending all week wet vacing and his feet from working on them for 35 + yrs
Hmmm wondering is this is all karma..
Though I shouldn't be mean and say such things.
Smiley Miles had his boots on the right feet lol
He went home and was watching Toy Story.. they have taking nightmare before christmas out of his repertoire.4 -
Good afternoon! I am so slow to get on here to chat with you all.I love to read how supportive of each other you all are. I loved seeing the pics of the little guy playing in the rain puddle. It reminds me of my little girl doing that. My little girl is now 39 years old.
I keep plugging along and hope my scale moves in the right direction soon.
I groomed my Westie Zoey today. Now my back needs some ice, but she looks so good.
Have a lovely weekend everyone. Hope5 -
Hmjack- thats my grandson Miles though everyone here calls him Smiles..
Welcome.. my furry nephew is a westie ..he is such a good boy..Alfie is my little maltese mix who is a barky boy..tonight he is tired tonight lol4 -
Caught up with everyone. Having a busy time of it.
Gyms: I used to go to the gym, but I honestly feel that going and coming home is such a waste of precious time. I can work out at home any time I want to.
Life goes on regardless. We are travelling to Sligo on the West Coast of Ireland for the memorial service for DH’s cousin on Friday morning. It’s a 3 hour journey, and the service is at 1pm. We will probably book into a B&B on Friday night as it would be a long day if we drove back home afterwards.
I have Creative Writing on Monday morning and Monday painters after lunch. Tuesday morning is Craft.
We are going to visit DED after lunch tomorrow.
Heather: Glad you got your wee jobs sorted.
Allie: 🥰 Smiles and his boots.
Loving all the family pics.
Glad that we don’t have those sub-zero temperatures here, as a rule. You need those boilers working, gals.
🤗 🤗 🤗 and 🙏 🙏 🙏 to Margaret and Annie and anybody else that needs solace.
Miele failte to our new ladies.

MargaretTurk: I am so sorry that it is time to bring hospice in. I hope they are helpful.
Annie: I hope the service/funeral went well and that your Dad held up okay. Very sad.
Heather: Dice Veal sounds delicious
Dr.KatieBug: Glad the new garage door was repaired.
Tracey: Congrats on finishing a session.
Vickie: Glad you are enjoying looking at pictures.
RVRita: I hope the blood pressure medicine is helpful.
Barbie: I signed up for World Walking. I hope it motivates me! I hope Bessie is okay.
Heather: I hope the homemade pizza was good!
Lanette: Up until this year, I always felt younger than my years. But during the caregiving I lost conditioning and this has not come back as fast as I hoped it would! Unfortunately I feel about 10 years older than my age. Hoping this changes in 2024!
Tina: Congrats on the new baby in the family!
Carol: I am thinking about your family and your brother in law.
Debbie: What a neat business! Selling 3D printed items!
Michele: I am so jealous you can walk to the Food Lion. Great that you Face Timed with PJ
Lisa: Congrats on using eh elliptical!
Machka: I hope all goes well going back to work!
I drove my vehicle this morning and enjoyed it! I think it is going to work out! I joined the Decluttering group this morning and accomplished quite a bit. The RAV4 is filled with bags for donations and there are several black bags of trash! I am very pleased with my productivity this morning! In the afternoon, I got tired and had to cut back. But I made a good and start and I am pleased! Next I need to sort through the spices...some are 15 years old. I should probably throw out all my spices and start over in 2024!
Best,
Rosemarie from Georgia

Barbara – it looks like it was part of the trunk of the tree that was weak. I have a feeling that Vince will want to have it removed (so will I for that matter). I must say, that I’m pretty proud of the fact that I’m continuing my exercise, as much as I can, even tho I’m working. I’ve had to modify it a bit, but I’m still doing something.
The plan for tomorrow is to do a Jari Love Ripped to the Core DVD, then probably take my walk, then go to WalMart. I peeled the potatoes for tomorrow and cut the ends off the green beans, took the apple crisp out of the freezer. I've never frozen it, but when Lynette called last time to say they couldn't make it, I just froze the one I had rather than making another. I think I need to make a meatloaf for us. I needed chicken or turkey sausage which I’ll get tomorrow
Michele NC2 -
Annie-keeping you and family in thoughts. Hard day, but healing may begin. In regards to your Dad's medicines-please check on thyroid medicine. I have to take mine on empty stomach so it is a first in the morning-I think that is standard protocol (although his may be different based on condition).
Margaret-it sounds like you are doing everything you can to give you strength for this marathon.
Heather-glad heat is fixed. Looked up G's condition-very strange.
Rebecca-Sounds like kitchen issue could have been resolved long ago. I hope they are understanding about time frame but they may want to move quicker.
Barbara AHMOD-hope arm recovers quickly.
And after marathon reading of 8 pages-that's all I remember!
Trip to Hocking Hills was nice. Went for one walk to one of the smaller caves (actually billed as Handicapped Accessible). Therapist recommended I not go on any muddy, uneven paths right now. Additionally, we went out before sunrise. It is was still pleasant, some of group went on to a more adventurous trek but several of us opted for more sedate. In the evening, some of group went on another industrious walk, A friend and I did some of the stairs around lodge and parking lot laps. Did the same the next morning, The sunrise was wonderful!
I have to admit, to upload this picture meant I had to adjust my storage on my Mac! But-I think the picture was worth the effort.
Now that I have spent an hour on that-I need to attend to other things.
Take care all,
Ginny in Ohio

Gyms can be expensive. I believe a family membership to the Y is in the area of $500. I switched to the other gym which was something like $300. However, now that I’m on Silver and Fit (not Silver Sneakers), it’s $50 in either place so I went back to the Y since they have a pool
Michele NC
The first gym membership we got here was just shy of $1000 each for a year ... something like $975 each. (I see they've gone up to $1430/year now for each person.) That was for the main gym/pool in the city.
After a couple years, we decided it was too expensive and started looking around for something else.
Then I discovered the university gym (because I had started attending university) and because my husband was over 55 and I was a student, we were able to get memberships for about $500 each. Much better!!
After he had his accident, we decided the drive 20-30 minutes each way, was too much, and the intensity of the gym was too much for him, so we took the $1000/year we were paying for a gym membership and started buying equipment at home.
So glad we did because when the COVID shutdowns came, we were all set up.
When I run, my heart rate gets up around 180 bpm. When I've been running regularly for a while, and I'm a bit fitter, it might only get up to about 170 bpm. I wish I could run with a lower HR, but so far, nope. So maybe it is what it is. I do have some valve issues which might contribute to the higher HR.
When I cycle, my HR is up around 140-150 bpm.
As long as the room temperature is over about 18C, I will definitely sweat.

Several years ago, I had a great idea about doing something with all the stuff on the fridge. I bought some things with that great idea in mind. Then I got distracted, and just a few months later, I completely forgot what that great idea was. I still can't remember. But that's one thing I do want to fix. It's really cluttered. Evidently I'll have to come up with a new great idea.
Machka in OzLisaInArkansas wrote: »Machka - Search for "organizing my refrigerator" and I bet you'll find one that shows your great idea from a while back... I use baskets in my fridge, too. Keeps a number of things like cheeses and bread corralled. You have to have bread in the fridge here, or it gets moldy in just a few days.
More in a minute.
Love,
Lisa in AR
There's not much stuff IN the fridge. Unfortunately, there's usually something that's been in there too long and gets the shelves all sticky.
But it's the outside of the fridge that needs decluttering. There are 1001 things stuck to the outside of the fridge.
Mainly there are emergency numbers, medic alert info, what to do in case of a seizure, etc. etc. But it's just overwhelming now.

This will be only our second show. We would do more but dh can't get away from his mom long enough to go do any other ones. The one coming up is just 20 min away and a short show.
It is fun to do and something dh and I can do together,(that doesn't involve shopping)

Thank you my friends. DH past today at 1 p.m. He died in our home that was a goal for me. We could not have done it without all the support I rec'd from family and friends, and my own self care. Hospice was also a big piece. Everyone should have hospice care during a time like this. He died with 80's music in the background to the song Start Again...I was writing to cousins on Facebook to send phone numbers so I could call his cousin's so they could talk to him. He was no longer speaking but I could tell he liked the idea. I kept cheering him on with what he just accomplished was his marathon, his 5k, his 10K. Neighbors who live knew it was bad because I had to call the parameditics to help with two falls. The husband came and shoveled our driveway without asking. A neighbor at John's shoveled his sidewalk. The cousin who is my age could was a wonderful support! Time to go cuddle with DrewB.

Grands today. Started the day having breakfast with a longtime girlfriend. It is always wonderful! Then braved the wind and snow flurries driving to watch YGD dance. I only had 3500 steps.....called my brother and finished at 10658 steps when we hung up.
My Aunt's celebration will be the beginning of March. We will also take that time to celebrate each other's birthdays which are Feb, March, and April (me, brother, sister), my DH and my sister's DH are both the end of January, my sister in laws was the end of December.
Ended the day well. Thankful for a safe car to take me where I want/need to go.
Stay warm unless you are Machka who likes to stay cool
Make the best choice you can!
Hugs for those that need them.
You are all special to me!

M – when we first moved to NC, the gyms open so late on Sundays that I started getting DVD’s. When Covid hit, I was so glad that I had them!
Margaret – I am so so very sorry for your loss.

Margaret - so sorry for your loss. Agree with you about hospice. They were great when my DH died.

Machka - I don’t know how I would handle it if I couldn’t be creative. It sure keeps me occupied and engaged. I have never not done something and if I am between projects I tend to get a. It “lost” maybe that’s why I’m a little cranky right now.
My cousin is decluttering her kitchen this week. It’s funny how everyone seems to be on the same tasks.
I’ve never been able to handle stuff all over my fridge. My grandmother put cork on the inside of a couple of cabinet doors for her stuff like that. The side of my fridge here, I have hooks for my potholders and a couple magnets on the kitchen side, on the hallway side I have hooks for keys and hoodies. The front is still clear though. Lol
Speaking of: Pip I’ve had stocking ideas for you and Kirby swirling in my brain. If you were serious I have ideas.
Okie - I never thought of using the scooters. I just went to Costco and came home. I’ll try more groceries tomorrow.
Lisa - I think Rodger would die of shock if I actually tried to send him with a list to any store. This sounds like a complaint and it’s not really, but I do everything here when it comes to managing the house. When we were first married we did things together. When he drove truck I had to do it alone. Then we moved out here and started doing things together again, then he took a couple of out of town jobs and I started doing it alone again. It just never went back until this past summer we did go to Costco together a few times, he would buy things only he would eat and I would throw a bunch of stuff out.
Today I am a little miffed at him for a couple of reasons, so this could be considered a complaint today. Normally it isn’t though. 😂
I’ve found that WTForecast app say’s different things throughout the day. My friend here downloaded it as well this week (I need a commission) and hers is different from mine even with the same temps.
Flea - hope you don’t lose power! I had to google the conversion to Celsius.l that is a chilly day.
I am so back and forth using imperial or metric.
I weigh and measure in imperial. For speed and temperature I’m only Celsius.
I was in grade 4 I think when Canada adopted the metric system.
Tina - I hope you don’t hurt yourself doing the yard work. Congratulations on the great nephew!
Heather - I bought some Epsom salts today for my bath tonight. I do have a bath almost nightly. I hate showers, very claustrophobic to me.
Allie - Tracy doesn’t just come to do her laundry? You do it for her? I used my Mom’s and Grandmother’s washer and dryer, but I did the work and had a visit at the same time.
I babysat a little boy about Miles’ age when Toy Story came out on VHS. When Woody says, “do you want a piece of me” the little boy thought he said meat, and went around for a long time saying “you want a piece of meat”.
One of my favourite movies.
My absolute favourite is Inside Out, I’m so excited a 2nd one is being released this summer I think.
Barbara - the WTForecast is free. I’ve never paid anything.
I was bored today, and should have just taken a nap. I did straighten up a bit after my trip to Costco. I shouldn’t have, but I needed to do something because I was getting so angry for no reason.
Ginny - Beautiful photo
So our province issued an emergency alert that we may have blackouts tonight due to the grid not handling the power requirements. We have been asked to turn off any nonessential power items, not use block heaters for our vehicles, electric heaters in our homes, or charge electric vehicles.
I have lived here for 26 years and never seen this before. I don’t know how they can think we can all run electric vehicles here.
I’m going to help my friend who just sold her house pack up and decide what to keep and what to get rid of in her craft stuff tomorrow.
It’s suppose to warm up to -30 tomorrow and be -18 on Monday.
Dig out the flip flops!
Tracey in Edmonton6 -
Oh Margaret, my very dear. ((hugs held extra long)))
Thanks Lisa and Tracey. Took the WTForecast plunge
Hmjack1561 would love to see a pic of Zoey.
Rosemarie well done on the decluttering.
Michele better to have the tree removed, than have it fall and damage your roof. ((hugs))
Ginny, stunning sunrise pic. Amazing outdoor activities, would have thought it too cold.
Tracey not use electric heaters with those temps? :noway: “Dig out the flip flops”
Can’t enter today’s minimal activity in the exercise log “technical difficulties… queue full… too many people accessing server… try again later” Just as well. Will go do some Jeopardy walking so I have something to enter when it comes back up.
Happy birthday Rori! Happy Anniversary Barbie and Jake!
