titus2cat, spaetzels are a starchy side dish, like any thing made of wheat and boiled. I’ve used them in soup., buttered and served right from boiling, and also fried in butter.
You can buy dried ones at some supermarkets and they are mostly treated like an egg noodle. Of course, that’s what they really ate, a version of a fresh egg noodle/pasta.I make them, really, only during the early fall during a German celebratory month called Ocktoberfest, to remember the culture that means a lot to me. Thusly, I usually have sausage OR schnitzel and red cabbage with theses noodles. .
this year, while I bought a cabbage to make that dish, I opened a jar of sauerkraut and had a 1/4 cup instead; just got started cooking too late that day.0 -
More Thanksgiving prep today so pretty busy. Nsk nice to have those traditions that a lot of times is centred around different food dishes.
Our postal system is such a mess and needs some major restructuring. Strike is ongoing with no end in sight.
No treadmill today but will get back in the groove tomorrow.Carol, been thinking about you. Hope things have improved with your husband.
