Good morning again..
Easier said than done..Tracy got rid of most all of the baby stuff through once upon a child . We will look there also..2 -
Sorry for being MIA. Since my son is so close now, I've been spending a lot of time at the nursing home. Plus, I've been on an awful emotional rollercoaster. It tears my heart out to see him like this. Will be back soon.

Allie- Check thrift stores in your area, even check to see if there is a "buy nothing" or "freecycle" group on facebook. I have friends that are environmentally gentle and got everything for their new baby (born TODAY at 12:04 am - a leapling) used and discounted, They spent under $750 for crib, toddler bed, dresser/changing table, stroller, car seat, high chair, assorted bathing items, bottle warmer, and breast pump. Then they were given 3 or 4 big bags of pass down clothing. All they asked for at their shower was money for a college fund. It was a great system. They did end up painting a few items to match their decore. You have some time. Were you able to get out and walk around your building yesterday? maybe today

Tracey--I have jury duty for 3 months or 12 weeks at a time. They let you know the Wednesday before if you need to report for the next week. I am praying this is my last time.
Heather--Sorry to hear about Dave. Just again shows we never know what each day will bring.
Michelle--Happy Anniversary. Hope your celebration is everything you want.
April--Understanding it is hard to see your child like this. I am just glad he is closer.Sending hugs and prayers.
Another windy day, but temps are going to be in the 60's next few days. They update our computers at work during the night and came in this morning to a mess. I still have not gotten my directory fixed from last week. It has all my phone numbers. Wish they would just leave things alone, but they want all CHI to be on the same program. I am off after today until Tuesday.
Tomorrow is DH 70th birthday. Mine is Saturday. I brought cupcakes today for my staff and DH sent me flowers. We have a motorcycle show this weekend. So that will keep us busy. DH is putting 2 of his motorcycles in the show. Then Monday I have 2 appointments. One my yearly one with the Dermatology and afternoon one with heart doctor.

Ginny - that must have been a fright to wake up to.
Lisa - I have been noticing the wrinkles starting and think I need to do something. I also have noticed that my eyelids seemed to have disappeared. There must be something for that too. I am vain as well, but I want to look much younger for getting hired into a younger persons field.
Debbie - I really wish your DH would walk away, it would be better for all concerned. The way she treats him he owes her nothing.
I’m more like you I enjoy some quiet, DH always has the tv on.
Vicki - Are you called for jury duty 12 times?
Rebecca - it just be a relief that he knows what hurt and pain it caused and that he probably won’t do that again.
Joy - I do stay on top of my cupboards but a lot of food I won’t eat so I depend on DH to eat it and then he doesn’t. So frustrating. I only buy it for him.
Allie - great news for Tracy and the babies. How is Kyle handling things now?
Had an interesting class today, we listened to a podcast where teens were given to opportunity to speak freely without fear of repercussions. They were given pseudonyms. They were given one interview in 2018 and the one we listened to was a follow-up on Jan 1 2020.
One 16 year old stated used an analogy to describe anxiety and depression.
He said that anxiety is the lighter fluid and depression is the match. It’s a dangerous combination.
Very accurate in my opinion.
This afternoon I started Kaitlyn’s scrapbook, I finished the first and last page, and have pictures placed on 2 more pages, need to decorate it yet.
She had very neutral colours for her wedding and I’m struggling with the design and colours in the layouts. Most of my papers and decorations include lots of colour.
I was going to go to ceramics tonight to make up for my missed class last Thursday, but I just didn’t feel like going out. I think I’m fighting something, I’m very tired yesterday and today.
Have a nice night ladies.

Oh yes, he apologized many times to me, a bit embarrassed about it all. I said sometimes it takes a wee bit for a young adult to find the balance between total independence and the connection of family. He has grown up so much in those 5 years, and yet he is still my sweet boy.

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa...... Oh my, I laughed because you have such a great sense of humor about it all. You just have to, to get thru it. Big hugs to you, for getting thru it all and taking it all in stride.
Well Lee got Athena's sore throat! He is on meds and seems to be fighting bit ok. The fact that he has no immune system to speak of which is a side effect of the anti rejection meds he's on always puts me on a sort of high alert. It harkens back to the days when he would ask me politely to watch him sleep he was so nervous and concerned.😥. I bit annoyed that the kids didn't tell me that they were getting over colds and sore throats. I guess Athena had just gotten over a sour throat and pink eye. Now poor Eli has it. He looks like he has been in a boxing match with Athena. Seems happy so maybe he won?

Vicki well then your DH is my birthday twin… if he was born in 1950. WOW. That is a lot of jury duty!
Joy I have to keep whole wheat flour in the freezer here. The damp really promotes spoilage.
Debbie You did great getting DH outside and ignoring MIL and doing the yardwork. IMHO when she refuses to eat, just ignore it. Just my two cents but DH might want to pay for MIL’s internet just to keep an eye. Dead people coming in through the computer is a scary symptom. ((hugs))

Ginny F2 on the ground for 16 miles? Sorry to hear your best man’s house is half torn away, thankful he’s unhurt and with family.

Hi all,
Michigan had a run of crazy warm weather and I thought I would prepare for a summer item. I restore and flip furniture in spare time. I spent some time acquiring furniture to work on. My nephew was great help. I decided to be less good about my diet and exercise based on the furniture moving plan, so I had a week of no progress...unless you count the garage is loaded with things to work on. I refuse to regret the future projects...but wish I had not overestimated the short bits of hard work.
The couch 2 5k plan has done more for shrinking my hips than my waist. All is good, but makes me think I might try to do a little more work on my core. The central strength work will be good for shoving things around in the garage, too.
I really find the warm weather makes me feel hungry and I'm still on a highly restricted diet. I did much better during the colder weather with cups of tea. Now I feel strong urge to get a bit more to eat. To make sure I'm not mindlessly eating I am still attempting to distract and drink more water/tea. I am chalking it up to nice days.
Between now and the end of March I have a mini target of another 18 pounds. It will take a lot of work to achieve. Wish me luck.
-Anna in Michigan
The furniture work sounds interesting!
18 pounds in a month is incredibly fast. The recommendation is no more than 2 lbs/week which comes to maybe 10 lbs in a month.
Don't rush the loss ... slow and steady.
All the best!!
My current weight loss work is being overseen by a medical program with a dietician and a doctor. It is a hard start with difficult level of calorie restriction and medication to ensure I don't have other issues from the rapid loss. I agree that otherwise it would be too fast. This isn't any of the GLP-1 meds but it is me trying to get a very hard kick in the *kitten* as I work to improve my health overall.
If I was working on this on my own I would agree that steady slower loss represents safer and more sustainable practice.

I am sorry I am so behind on commenting ... just a few that I remember:
April ... I was so sorry to hear about your son's horrific accident. I am glad that he will be closer to you but I know that being closer, in no way, means that things are easier. My prayers are with you and your son ...
Anna ... congratulations on making significant progress with your health! Glad to hear that you have medical oversight as well.
Rebecca ... what great photos! Sorry that Lee now has the crud. Kids (big ones and little ones)!!
Vicki ... Happy Birthday to you and your husband!!
Lisa ... you had me laughing! Humor always helps...
Heather ... thank you for using the word "dignity" ... that means something to me. Thank you.
Allie ... that "thin membrane" is a big deal! Continuing to pray.
Tracey ... I meant to tell you that your binder was amazing! I've seen expensive communication boards that weren't nearly as nice. You are going to be an outstanding educational assistant.
Debbie ... Ashamed to say I used to react to yelling with my own yelling ... sort of like your husband ... and then I stopped. Life became much easier.
This morning DH had a colonoscopy (all is well) and I was the designated driver! This afternoon I chose my cochlear implant processor colors ( I get two processors ... one that's traditional and one that's for the "fashion conscious") and my accessories. Cool stuff. Reading up on the surgery, expectations, education, etc.
Same storm came through my area. No tornadoes. Just high winds and a temperature drop from near 70 to 23 in a matter of hours. Today it's just bitter cold. Tomorrow the temps start rising again. Crazy weather.

House buying-Here, the market is wild. Houses are on the market one day and off the next. If you wait, you miss it. So, you have to get pre-approved for a loan and have an idea of an offer that you make pretty much on the spot, most likely above asking and over your budget. If you do manage to get a bid in, there is always a counteroffer. Real estate agents here are politicians. They have to be savvy and good negotiators.
I have no desire to buy another house. There is always something that needs to be fixed, replaced, or changed and most of the time, those things are not cheap.

Back in December I intended to send Katla a note from her mfp friends, but dropped the ball. Katla was an active participant in the thread until health and memory issues caused her and her DH to move into assisted living near their daughter. I’d intended something like the attached, but didn’t follow through. If you remember Katla and would like to be included, please post or pm me. If you DON’T want your profile pic and id included, let me know if you want your signon name, or to be taken out completely.

April: Thinking/praying for you and your son.
Beth: When is the surgery?
Margaret Turk: I hve not decluttered much in Feb but did make it to shred day..so good to get paper out of the house!
Lisa: I hope the VA approves the medication.
Allie: Praying for Tracey. I hope Spring comes early to New England.
Joy: Congrats on declutter ing the cupboard. I put together a metal rack because I couldn't see items in the cabinets and am not suppose to be on ladders. I have enjoyed this rack. I can see what I have. I seldom go into the cabinets.
Rebecca: What a wonderful time with you sons! I only have the one son, but when he and his wife come I really treasure it.
Ginny: A tornado on the ground for 16 miles with damage. Very frightening. Amazing there were not more injuries. We have had the tornado siren go off more in the last 10 years. There have been a couple of minor tornadoes near me. Always very sad when there are injuries in other areas. I have many trees and sleep downstairs when there is severe weather.
Anna: Wow! Restoring and flipping furniture! That must take great patience!
Tracey: Hope you are feeling better.
Kylia: I do not know much about cray fish. They can be eaten can't they?
Michelle in NV; Happy Anniversary. Thank you to your son for serving in Kuwait. I hope you see him soon.
Carol: I hope this new prescription helps your vision.
Plants: For Christmas someone gave me an Amaryllis bulb as a gift. I just put it in water....not even soil and there it sat. Well for the last 2.5 weeks I have had 2 beautiful lovely blossoms. What a neat gift! I love the poster Focus on the steps in Front of you....I think I will see if I can get that as a poster!
I am feeling much better. My son came on Tuesday and stayed the night. He took his dog home...I do miss the dog. I hope to exercise while listening to an audio book when I am done typing. My weight is up. I am going to try logging my food on paper rather than on the phone. I really enjoy quick foods, protein bars, yogurts. Sometimes I make a veggie soup. And I eat salmon, shrimp and pork chops every week. But too much bread in between!
There is a new volunteer at the rescue...and she lives in my subdivision. I was going to cut down to 1 day a week but if she is able to help me, I will stay doing 2 days a week another year!

I wish he could walk away too. It is out of obligation on his part. He is the only family here. She has a niece in Osaka who has said she could move over there(but only after she gets her name on all of her bank accounts/house/etc-then she will put her in a rest home there)

And... scheduled for one more X-ray tomorrow, a chest X-ray to eliminate one more possible infection before they get the biologic prescribed. They're pretty careful, I've been tested for everything under the sun, and a few more to come. Weirdly reassuring.
Allie - Hope everything turns out well for Tracy and fam.
Re: Housebuying - Paying off our house yesterday was genuinely one of the high points in our financial lives, but the thought of buying another house makes me twitch. I would not willingly do it again anytime soon. The relief in not paying rent or a mortgage is enormous. I don't necessarily think it's cheaper, even with no mortgage. All of that disappears into repairs and renovations, in the end. Throw in insurance and taxes, and the rewards aren't financial, but are hugely more mental and satisfying.
Anna - Well done on the weight loss! Pleased that the rapid loss is under a doctor and dietician's advice and care. You're doing this right. I love refinishing furniture, but don't really have enough space here until we someday get a shop space built. It slides under things...
Heather - Love the art, glad I brought the smile both for you and Michele and Beth. Sorry about the loss of the Hairy Biker. I've watched a number of their shows, very engaging men, and you do get attached to people that we respect and admire.
April - No need to worry about us - no stresses from here. We've held out arms and hands and hearts for so many of us as we've dealt with incredible family or our own individual stresses and fears like yours. Stop in when you can so we know how you're doing. That's not pressure, but a place to say what needs saying or think what needs thinking out loud. Glad your son is near. Many good thoughts coming your way.
Time for dinner...
Love y'all,

Lisa-truly some great problem solving!
Machka-buying a house is painful. When I do decide I am done with the upkeep-I'm renting!
Beth-my DH had anger issues and would yell (his whole family were yellers). I would yell/argue back and it would be a mess. One day I decided if I didn't know something to say that would help, I would say nothing. I ended up saying less ad without me "feeding the fire", he ran out of steam!
Barbara AHMOD-I think I sent you a pm (I sent one to someone!). Please include me with message to Katla. Use whatever is easiest for you.
Too many meetings today-all on-line. At the Emergency Management meeting (I'm part of the team) they said tornado was on ground for over 19 miles (three more than I thought). Very few are asking for help at this time. The majority of the homes were nice properties and the homeowners no doubt have insurance and most likely some money in the bank. Several restaurants are giving them free meals. Churches have set up collection areas. Neighbors are taking care of neighbors.
Off to tidy things up.
Take care all,

We are already paying for her life alert necklace . Add in the internet, which is another $125 a month for just internet plus what he spends on gas and other things that she requests then throws a fit about them after he buys them so he just pays for it(very maddening to me).
The dead people coming from the computer are her dead son(her favorite) and friends of hers I think- I don't know- I haven't heard her talk about them.
It wouldn't be an issue if she appreciated even a little of it.3 -

took mil's dog for a very quick walk this morning- a bit drizzly- not bad and I had my rain coat on but he just had a sweater and I didn't want him getting too wet and mil throwing a fit about him getting a little wet.
Walked the wetlands but only part of the way- just did the 40min walk instead of the 60- It was a bit rainy but worse was the wind- walking with winds of 25mph was a bit rough on some spots. Great with the wind behind me, harder when it was in my face. Was careful to watch the eucalyptus grove- a few have fallen( combination of all the rain and the wind). Thankfully-it was blowing the trees away from my path for the most part. Hit my 10,000 steps before I got back to the car.
Wanted to walk more to make up for leaving Zumba 20 min early last night- I was too stressed about dh. He was ok, just exhausted, mentally and physically. Gave him a glass of Moscato with dinner then two melatonin gummies- he said he fell asleep while he was painting one of the Godzillas. Slept great all night which he really needed. Knows to just ignore his mom when she gets mad about something- doesn't do any good to fight. Frustrating but has to do it.
She is mad about pretty much each thing we bought her, even though the only reason we did was because she asked for them. She just has to be hateful about everything.
Her "friend" is coming over tomorrow for her birthday. This "Friend" is a co-worker of her other son , the favorite, that died. She comes over with her hand out and to stir the pot and cause even more drama for dh.
Mil is mad that no one sent cards- she can be nasty to everyone but expects them to be all nice to her.
Going to try something new for dinner. Clams and shrimp in a scampi sauce over pasta or rice(they can pick)
The new Asian market had frozen clams for $3.33(3 paks for $10-had to buy three). The also had the crunchy panko crusted shrimp 4/$10 (10 shrimp in a pak)- Cooked one yesterday and dh ate the whole thing between lunch and dinner. Have frozen already cooked and cleaned shrimp to add to the clams.
Have a great evening

Housing prices are dropping here because interest rates are going up. But owners have been listing houses high, for the most part, still hoping to get that price.
Slightly over half the houses have been going for less than what they were listed for. Some have been going for exactly what houses have been listed for. And a few have been going for over what houses have been listed for, but not by much.
In this market, I expected negotiation. Put in a lowish offer and get a counteroffer. But that is not happening. We're told to put in our "very best offer" and maybe the owner will pick ours.Back in December I intended to send Katla a note from her mfp friends, but dropped the ball.
