Barbara - I think Lanette was referring to Tim Spector about the fibre in coffee. It's also fermented, so an all round good thing. I have one large mug of extremely strong milky coffee every day after exercising. John makes it and brings it up to me. It is one of the highlights of our day.
The rest of the time I drink British tea. A lot of tea. That's also good for you, according to Tim. Michael Moseley says green tea is excellent. I'm sticking with my beloved black with semi-skimmed milk.
Following Michael, I have been doing planks as part of my exercise regime,. Mon, Tues, and Fri. The other days I do 30 push ups from the knee. He recommends four planks, 30 seconds, with two minutes break between them, three times a week. I am only doing two, but good is better than perfect. It's supposed to be good for blood pressure, as are wall squats for two minutes. That takes too long. I generally spend about 30 minutes a day on floor, weights, balance, PT, strength etc. The rest is 20 mins rowing and 25 mins recumbent bike.
I still ache and find walking any distance hard. But it would be worse if I didn't do them.
I'm waiting for a physio appointment at the hospital.
Today is pickup day. My son wants us to stay longer, as they have Parents Evening. He will take us home.
Weather not brilliant.

Good morning ladies!
Hope our west coast women got through the storm.
My cousin is coming tonight to get the extra freezer out of the basement. I hope they can get it up the stairs and around through the door. I guess I should have some dinner ready. I could make chili but we just finished the last batch. Maybe something else will occur to me. Meatloaf? Ham? Hmm. I really don't like entertaining.
My muscles are feeling the short bike ride. I really lost all my fitness in my six months break. Time to start again.
Have a great day!

Hi Gals,
Grief sucks.
The weather in N. California has been frightful. Yesterday there was a break and I cleaned branches and debris from my front yard, cut it all up and filled one of my 90 gallon “green” cans those go into city compost. I have a second green can that I hope to fill with branches and debris from the back yard, but there is so so much in the back yard that I will have leftovers for next weeks pickup. My neighbors and I often share cans but the wind and rain means everyone is inundated, so I will be surprised if anyone has extra room.
Annie – glad to hear the basement freeze is going --- with just 2 of you I bet you don’t need it. What to fix for dinner, someone suggested soup. That could be a good idea! I love tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches. Or I have “cheated” and done a tomato basil soup from the deli and a bag of frozen tiny meatballs and put them together to make an Italian meatball soup with garlic bread.
Sue – sorry to hear about the Renter from hell when I rented a room out I had one of those. Luckly I had a neighborhood kid who had a bad habit of keying cars and everyone one was up in arms! But when my renter realized what was going on he wanted out of his rental agreement before it was up or his car got keyed. I was delighted to say fine.
Debbie – glad to hear you had no damage.
Lisa – the Laundry looks great – more streamlined, clean – and shelving at a reasonable height. Why would a shelf go over a window???? Just a place to need to dust on a tall ladder. LOL The blow out sounds scary glad you were close to help and going slow.
Love ya all,
Kim in N. California

Michelle in NV I like the soup idea! My DH does all the cooking and is making Menudo today. I’ll see if I can remember to take a pic. Also my DH does the same as yours. He starts to sort out the pile he has in the front of the RV but ends up making a worse mess. Not sure how he manages b/c he DOES toss a couple things each time. 🤪

Sadly, I know I have a lot of my mom in me. My hands look like hers. I've caught some of my dirty looks in a mirror and was shocked at what I saw. Other than physical features, though, we a very different. I'm glad for that. I work hard to be a nice person. It doesn't just come to me. I have been told my comments are insensitive, abrasive, and harsh. So, I work on it. I just naturally come off a little wicked sometime. That's one reason I like to write so much. When I write, I can word things the way I want without coming off wrong.
One good thing I can say I got from my mom is how to instill confidence that we; my family, kids, or whomever I'm dealing with, are going to get through a tough time. I remember when I was young and something would go wrong, she would tell us kids that everything was going to be fine and that we would deal with it. Since I trusted her then, it was the best thing I could hear. We would all calm down and do our part, whether it was make cheap meals or deal with the death of a loved one knowing that we would be okay. I do that for my kids, and I'm glad I know how.

I'm so sorry to hear you have CKD. Kidney disease is a rough illness with which to deal. Bless you and my thoughts are with you both.
I vigorously walked for 20 minutes today back and forth through the casino. I was in a rush to get back to my game. Now this isn't a small, tiny casino by any means. It's Green Valley Ranch (a station casino) here in Henderson. In fact, I would say it's one of the few casinos around here that is built like a strip mall, lol. It has indoors and outdoors all with convenience lining the sides of the center aisle. It's overwhelming, and I just wanted to get a coffee.
I don't know how you all are doing it. I can't seem to get my husband to declutter anything. He cleans an area, throws away a few things, and makes a new pile. Argh. I try to throw stuff away, and pulls it out saying he's going to take it to Goodwill but never does. I have this new book called Nobody Wants Your S-h*t the art of decluttering. I haven't started reading it yet, but I'm a little worried that if I do, I will get all Gung-ho and he will still be in his Goodwill stage. He won't even let me hold a yard sale.
Soup anyone? (see kevrit above)

I do the MS Bike ride. When we were living in Washington we would go to the MS Deception Pass Classic in Mt Vernon WA (very scenic, hilly ride). When I met my husband, he was a year round rider and him and a friend would do these rides just for a free t-shirt. He did the ride for 27 years. When I met him in ‘99 I was too fat, out of shape to ride so I would volunteer. After about 5 years, I looked back and found my earliest ride that i could find was in 2000. When he started it was called MS 150. 75 miles on day 1 and 75 on day 2. It has evolved and they have different distances to choose from 22, 59, 80, 100 miles. Because of that they got more participants. My 1st, I did the 60 miles. This ride is the only one I raise $$ for. When you raise 1000 or more you get a jersey. As I have been trying to get $$$, I found that some former coworkers family had MS and I never knew. Since I moved to California in 2020 to retire, we drove back to do the ride. My husband.(Kirby) stopped doing the ride, that was his last time. I now ride it virtually here in California. It’s not as fun cuz I do it alone. I ram racking up the miles as of 2/1/24. When you are there you have to raise $250 or you can’t ride. Now that I’m virtual, I don’t have to. During this time of year, I ride inside because I don’t have to ride outside anymore:0). But on the day of the ride I ride outside the full 60, last year I started riding at 4am so I could get done in earlier in the day.
I have an MS Bike page that I will post on Facebook, I have a link I send to people (tax deductible). I accept checks for people who are not comfortable using the website. People mail me checks to. (made out to Nat’l MS Society, not me). Long answer, no I didn’t know anyone with MS, I don’t have it. I bike ride it, not run or walk it. No go fund me page, I have my own MS link.
I haven’t typed this much in a bit

Morning, my chickens, from the Arkansas River Valley,
Thanks, all, for the comments on the laundry room. The next big indoor project is making the two back bedrooms and half bath into a master suite with a full bath. Won't start on that for a bit, although I would love to have it done by the time my best friend gets here in April for the eclipse. Probably won't make that, unfortunately.
But, until then, Corey's still got more than a few things to do in his sunroom kitchen. He's enjoying making those choices and making something new work for him. I'm enjoying watching him do it, so that works out just fine. I have no need to ever cook anything on a grill, so whatever he wants to do is out of my jurisdiction, so to speak.
Did get my tire fixed yesterday, after the visit to the primary care doc. His office called me at 7 and asked if I could go in early and get X-rays done, and those showed what I already knew. The left knee is bone on bone. I'm just leaning on it more again because there's so much pain in the right knee, the one that was replaced. Favoring it is causing even more pain to the already bad left knee. He's writing the referral to the specialist, which is pretty much all I was there for.
Talked to Corey for our "good morning" call at about 8 a.m., and then to my sis for the last hour... I've educated myself enough on her field of expertise (the Bible) to be able to have an intelligent conversation with her, and it helps that I can comment knowledgeably on something dear to her. I never took the time before. Now I have the time.
We are confidantes in ways no friend could ever be, as we both know and understand why the other does certain things that grow out of our childhood, and we can discuss ways that have helped us get through it. Meeting her on her intellectual home turf has been an education for me in a lot of ways. And anytime Corey and I are having an issue, there's a fair chance that in one of her four marriages (if not more than one) she's run into it!
Got a Walmart order coming in in a couple hours, that's as exciting as it's going to get today. My knees are propped up, other than the hourly steps, and they're probably going to stay that way. Will probably use some of my steps to grab the ice wraps out of the freezer.
Reading, as always... hugs to those in need, cheers to those doing well,
Later, y'all,
Love,

Having Edie on Saturday morning for a couple of hours and lunch. Gluten free sausages. Bea wanted to come but we have managed to divert her by offering a half term visit. Edie didn't want her to come on Saturday.
I've just ordered Bea's birthday present, which she chose herself.
It's just a cheap one from Amazon.
In my granny way I was worried about her getting cold, so I've also ordered her a bolero.
Not quite the right colour, but it'll do. The reviews say it can arrive very wrinkled, but it will have plenty of time to drop out before her birthday in March!!
Just waiting for the parents to get back from the Parents Evening.

Well dropped off taxes and went to pick up some shoes at Target of course they gave me thr wrong size.. so had to return them, and then came home.. Trudy left this morning on her trip so im on kitty duty for the next 10+ days instead of her spending over 200.00 to have someone come.. I'll do it,and when I go away she will take care of Siri.. one hand washes the other ,so to speak .
A friend of mine needed an antenna for her dad and i had an extra one,so i took it off my t.v.,now have to get the t.v. back to working lol
Oh well..try and do something nice anyway.3 -
Worked then stopped at Bell’s outlet to see if they had any St. Pat’s day shirts, but they don’t so went to Big Lots next door. The only shirts they had were stupid ones but did get 4 boxes of cereal for 64 cents each. Yes, they were Christmas-themed, but so what? My stomach won’t know the difference. Then went to Ollie’s since I had a 15% off coupon. I was hoping they had the chlorinating solution in for the pool but they didn’t. I did need breadcrumbs so I got them and this protein bar that’s pretty good with 12g of protein. They didn’t have a headlight that I wanted for Colby.
The guy came about taking down the tree. It’ll probably be around $1500. The tree is BIG and is leaning towards the house. If another strong wind comes up, it will come down. And I don’t want that to happen when we’re in FL. If he can’t get to the stump, that’s OK, I just want that tree gone.
We’ll have dinner early then stop at this vacuum place. They have a (used) pet hair head for our vacuum that is $5, so we’ll get it. I’m glad the motor broke when Vince was using it and not me.
Allie – so Carmen doesn’t know about the addition-to-be for the family. Wonder how she’ll take it when she does find out. Guess we’ll find out. Maybe this was an “oops” baby.
Lisa – everything is so organized. You did a wonderful job. Good luck at the MD. And good luck with the tire. I do hope they take you early
Allie – funny you mention Katla. I was just thinking about her. GMTA
Heard back from Bryan (after I sent the birthday wishes) Got a few more pics of Leo. He’s growing so fast.
Ceramics tonight. I’m going to take another piece with me to clear glaze
Heather – what a lovely present for Bea! I know she’s going to love it, I do when in March is her birthday? Jess’ is in March, too
Off to my walk, now.

Well, I heard there was a tornado warning here a few days ago, but never got a notification. Today, I did. The rain is coming in buckets at the moment. Being from the Midwest, I don't see this as tornado-y conditions. Interesting weather we're having.
Today is roast all the veggies in the fridge before they go bad day. The cauliflower and broccoli will become soup soon. The haricot verts will become snack sticks. Then I will not cook for a while. We'll just pick out of the refrigerator options.
Some of you pick a word for the year for focus. I don't do that, but today I was thinking if I did, my word would be "less." Less booze, less meat, less white carbs, less food in general, less going out, less sitting down, and eventually less weight on my rear end. So far, I've been doing pretty good in every category except the last one. Though, I did lose about 1 pound over the past 2 months. The mister lost 9. *sigh*
Annie-Great job getting back on the bike.
Heather-Awesome about the local publication picking up your book story! Gorgeous dress for Bea.
Hugs to those who need them. I don't always mention you specifically, but I am sending good vibes and thinking of you.

Been a ***** of a day. I am going to have to let my new person go. She just does not get it and we have had a couple close calls.
Also the accounting firm that does our taxes called and we have to pay in almost $2000 again. DH's employer did't take out enough, even after DH filed to have them hold more out. So I have gone in and raised what I have taken out.

Vicki ~ So sorry you had to let your new employee go! I know you really needed an extra hand at work. Hope you find someone more suited.
Heather ~ Love the party dress for Bea! She will look like a princess.

Tina and others in California ~ Prayers you will all be safe from the storms.
Not much to say! Sun is shining and that makes the day smiley!

Good afternoon ladies.
Been working on my paperwork and getting a bit frustrated with the forms to be filled in. Decided to put it aside for today and start up again tomorrow.
Heather beautiful dress.
My granddaughter (in Ontario) is turning 13 in March. Asked her if she had an ereader and she doesn't. Is an avid reader so ordered a Kobo for her birthday. Managed to find a sleep cover for it in sparkly purple from amazon so I think will be perfect. Purple is her favorite color and being sparkly, I'm sure she will like it.
She joined a skating group this past year and they are performing in a city about 3 hour drive from their location this weekend (2 day event). It's synchronized skating and is a competition through Can Skate Ontario. She's been discussing this with me over skype the last few weeks and is annoyed that her coach has told the team that getting bronze is not acceptable. Only silver or gold is acceptable. Obviously the coach is putting pressure on this group of 12/13 year old girls. Will be interesting to see how they make out. Lots of rules for the girls to remember during the performance. My granddaughter said they were even instructed on how their thumb has to be positioned close to the first finger at all times. Asked my son to video the performance and he said he will. I'm sure they will do well. She's excited and nervous all at the same time.

We have 3D printed items- we have six printers that are being used with a couple in storage(one more heading there because he bought another new one)
I have posted a few things on here. I will post a few more-don't know how to put things in a spoiler-sorry.
We have only done one show so far- we have a lot of inventory built up now, will be looking into doing some craft type fairs this spring.
that was our first show, down in SF at the Moscone Center
Everything we are printed are articulated except for the percussion frogs
We have a lot more but don't have pictures of all of them yet. Planned on taking a lot of pictures at the show(that didn't happen)

I share your frustration. My oncologist is the one who asked me, "has anyone told you that you have chronic kidney disease?" After she mentioned it, I went back to look at my historical labs, and I was in the 60s eight years ago, with a steady decline. It would have been nice if someone would have mentioned that I should at least pay attention and stop taking ibuprofen. That was my preferred pain reliever because I needed an anti inflammatory.

Had a pretty productive(and a bit profitable) day.
Started out as it has the past 6 1/2 weeks with nebulizer treatment after feeding and cleaning up after the cats.
Went with dh to walk mil's dog while he made sure she had her pills, pay any bills that needed to be paid etc. So, this is where it was profitable. He asked me to walk a different way than I usually do so I could look in on his truck that he leaves there in her carport and also on the neighbors house as they are out of town. Walking less than a block from there I looked down and found $100!!! I seriously thought it was one of the fake bills that the kids play with or just a fake one some one made- It was soaking wet and stuck to the sidewalk. Looked at it closer and yep- it is REAL!!!
After I finished walking Kobe, dh and I did some shopping-then had lunch- it is Taco Tuesday-
Finished our shopping then came home- then for the work- putting away all the stuff we bought. We went to Black Friday again- $1 each today. Some will go up to storage as it was Christmas decorations(6'prelit garlands-bought 2 yesterday at $2 each and got 3 more today)
It has been pretty much sunny most of the day- rain stopped last night and so far hasn't rained, that I know of yet today.
Got a call from my sister- mom's power is still out but should be back on by tonight. Hopefully she doesn't loose too much food in the fridges/freezers. I haven't heard from mom but not surprised- no power means no land line and may not be able to charge her cell phone(plus service is really bad right now- was terrible when I tried to talk to her Sunday)
