Vicki – so sorry about the employee and then the money issue on top of that!
All Californians – good thoughts being sent your way to be safe
Joy – good luck to your granddaughter
Had the last ceramics (they’re closed Monday) for the next 5 weeks.

Kim: My heart hurts for your loss of Levi. (((hugs)))
Annie: Keep on keeping on. I'm in the same boat as you. Up 5 pounds since Christmas...gah! Have been slacking on cardio in favor of stretching which burns even fewer calories than walking Mars the Leash Loving Cat.
Vickie: So sorry you have to let the new hire go. Hopefully this is the Universe's way of making room for someone better.
Michele: Glad you are hearing from Bryan!
Tina: Thinking of you and hoping the monsoons pass quickly.
Karen in VA: How/where are you?
I'm in the market for a new mattress. The research is making me crazy. The prices of the best recommendations give me pause. However, sleep is important. I fall asleep on my side, but wake up on my back, with a cat on my chest. Will take this slow....
Stay well, friends. We can do this.

Well. Yesterday just passed me by. I had class in the morning and halfway through my head started hurting. I hadn’t slept well and just wasn’t feeling well. I ended up spending almost the whole day on the couch.
Not sleeping just resting. Of course, even that was enough to mess up my sleep last night so I was awake from 230-530.
I finished your book and did a review during that time Heather.
Kim - while I was having a couch day I heard someone talking about grief.
They said that grief is like a rock shows up in your pocket. For the first while that rock beats against us and bangs us up, eventually the weight of that rock becomes more bearable to carry but it still occasionally bangs against us and that rock never leaves we just don’t get as bruised by it.
I can’t remember who said it, it was much more eloquently put than that.
Lisa - I hope they get you into a specialist soon. What is the wait time like there for a knee replacement? I think it’s close to 2 years here now. That’s a long time to go in pain.
Heather - what a beautiful dress for Bea. I understand Edie wanting a visit alone. I enjoy having the kids one on one although they are getting better at having together.
Allie - I didn’t even know antennas still existed.
Michele - it’s nice that you and Bryan are making baby steps for communication.
Tina - I need to do a lot “less” too.
Vicki - I’m so sorry! You seem to have a terrible time getting good staff.
I was so sorry to see Toby Keith passed away yesterday. He was one of my favourites.
The young couple who opened their home for Lauryn’s party on Saturday sent a message this morning that her mother in law was found in her home deceased yesterday. They are waiting for an update from the RCMP to know what happened.
Debbie - what are the 3D things used for? Decorations? Toys? I saw at shows this year that there were a lot of people making 3D printed items, but they weren’t selling a lot.
Where does your Mom live?
Rori - my daughter has an Endy mattress that she swears by. It’s firm but comfortable.
I went to buy paint today and was so impressed. There was paint on sale for 20% off. I asked for a specific paint and if that was on sale. She told me no, that it was the specialty paints of that brand on sale but then instead of allowing me to purchase the paint at full price advise that if I waited until Thursday the paint I wanted is going on sale for 30% off! It’s not often you get told something is going on sale when you’re standing there ready to purchase.
I have my homework done and am about to go take a bath. I am really hoping to sleep tonight.
I’m meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow and have to stop at my other friends house to pick up a wheelbarrow that we will store for her. I think since we’re doing her a favour she should have dropped it off, but what do I know?
I may be a little miffed about it.
DH had good news today, the union has agreed to a new contract, he will be getting a raise, retro pay and benefits.
This is good news.

most of what we make are toys- fidget toys really beings they are all articulated. We use food safe PLA plastic
We did pretty well at the one show we did. There was another vendor selling but her prices were so much higher than ours. The dragons she had priced at $45, we were selling for $14-16. All of our prices were lower than hers and from what we have seen at other shows. We are making some money but not crazy amounts on each items.
We are working on volumn and assortment
Mom lives an hour north of me. The storms took out a lot of trees and with them, the power.
I keep texting her each day until I hear from her.
She is used to the power going out during the winters.

I am doing my best to eat the DASH diet. Everyone probably should. So we are eating a lot more veggies, and I am avoiding beef. But not eliminating it entirely. The nephrologist has released me unless my GFR goes lower. It bounces around in the low 40s, with occasional dips into the high 30s. He says that's plenty of functionality. I don't know if he says that because of my mbc and I'm probably not going to die of kidney disease. I am wondering how his treatment of me compares to the treatment of others.

FleaMy nephrologist was upset my GP didn’t tell me or send me sooner. My GFR is 46. He wanted to put me on Farxiga b/c my sugar has been going up (even with Keto) and my BP was way up. Cardiologist has BP going down so one more thing down. I have a choice with the Farxiga. It is too expensive for me and I know my insurance pays for all the BP meds and testing stuff for the glucose. I haven’t had to take any diabetes meds so will pass on the Farxiga. Thanks so much for your response! Helps me put things in perspective. Diet is everything! No more Keto but Renal diet now. And 80 oz of water a day according to doc. (He also says coffee is ok) LOL 🤷♀️
Machka Thanks for the info! I’m in stage 3 where my GFR bounces between 42 and 52. Diet is the way to go I am seeing. I have been following the Renal diet (I’ll post a snippet later) after researching and with my “metabolic acidosis” which is the type of CKD I have, I need to avoid Phosporus mostly, so reading ALOT of labels! LOL
Michelle in NV I like the soup idea! My DH does all the cooking and is making Menudo today. I’ll see if I can remember to take a pic. Also my DH does the same as yours. He starts to sort out the pile he has in the front of the RV but ends up making a worse mess. Not sure how he manages b/c he DOES toss a couple things each time. 🤪

I share your frustration. My oncologist is the one who asked me, "has anyone told you that you have chronic kidney disease?" After she mentioned it, I went back to look at my historical labs, and I was in the 60s eight years ago, with a steady decline. It would have been nice if someone would have mentioned that I should at least pay attention and stop taking ibuprofen. That was my preferred pain reliever because I needed an anti inflammatory.

My previous doctor sent me for a whole set of tests ... blood work, ultrasound etc. When the results came back, clear as day, in big bold print at the bottom of the ultrasound results was the statement that my kidneys showed damage consistent with Chronic Kidney Disease.
My doctor didn't see it. I went in for follow-up, she told me she wanted the cyst on my left kidney checked ... so she did see the ultrasound results, just not all the results. She printed the results for me and sent me on my way.
A few days later, I made an appointment to ask her about the kidney results and showed her what she had printed. First she tried to tell me they put that statement on everyone's results. Then she said that kidney damage only matters if my GFR? is lower than normal. I showed her that it is. She was surprised.
Pretty sad when the GP doesn't even read the results.
When I saw the specialist about the cyst (which is apparently OK), I asked about CKD. He looked at my results and told me that yes, I have CKD. But it hasn't advanced yet.

Oh my goodness, Machka.
To my nephrologist's credit, I have had so many scans over the past 2.5 years -- Two PETs in the first year, CT every six months, and I've had multiple MRIs. Fortunately, those scans do not show any damage to my kidneys. So at least there's that. He is toying with the idea that I'm just chronically dehydrated. I drink a lot of water. But because I have celiac and I'm on medicine that can cause gastro issues, I do have a lot of diarrhea. I'm also sensitive to various foods for odd reasons, so vomiting is an issue, too. We have stopped using the IV contrast with my CTs, since I'm not showing any progression and the IV contrast is hard on kidneys.
It's just all that ibuprofen I used to take. I would certainly not have taken it if I had realized what was going on.

Just looked up my last GFR results. Mine says 60. (I am 74.) My report for all bloods was satisfactory. My sodium was at the top end, but OK. I know I ought to cut back a bit on salt, but I love it.

Here's what my results say:
Cortical Thinning Of The Kidneys In Chronic Kidney Disease
https://healthmatch.io/kidney-disease/cortical-thinning-of-the-kidneys
When the kidney cortex becomes scarred and the amount of healthy, functioning tissue decreases, you may have cortical thinning. ... Chronic kidney disease can lead to these effects.
Normal eGFR levels decline with age, but here is their general meaning:- 90 or higher: normal range
- 60–89: could suggest you have early-stage kidney disease <<--- This is where I am
- 15–59: could suggest you have kidney disease
- Below 15: could suggest you have kidney failure
Lifestyle adjustments
Changing your lifestyle habits could help you manage your CKD. These include:- Eating a balanced, healthy diet
- Consuming less salt — you should aim for less than 6g (around one teaspoon) per day
- Limit your alcohol intake
- Losing weight if you are overweight or obese
- Exercising regularly
- Quitting smoking
- Avoiding over-the-counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), like ibuprofen
Among cyclists, ibuprofen was nicknamed Vitamin I and we took it regularly and frequently. I have cut back a lot in recent years.

Today’s gratitude: clean, potable, iced spring water.
No wii balance games or PT leg strengthening, needed to leave early for casserole-a-thon. We were short 2 or 3 people so it took twice as long to finish all 16 casseroles and 50 sandwiches. After 4 hours I ran out of steam, and left the last little bit of wrap up to Pastor’s wife and Pastor. Napped instead of pruning the dwarf apple, but braved the wind to walk the dogs to the powerline meadow.

Michelle in NV “I work hard to be a nice person” me2. My Mama who loved me told me I was officious and condescending and OH that RBF in the mirror :noway:
Anna would you share a sample of your little cards?
Heather you’ve been waiting so long, no news on the PT schedule?
Kim that’s a positive outcome from the neighborhood kid’s bad habit. I love tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches, maybe Thursday and it won’t be homemade soup (sorry Rita).
Rita that diagnosis is not “nothing really” and you are entitled to your feelings. Brava for doing your research, knowledge IS power. Do you know why the renal diet recommends white rather than whole grain rice/bread/cereals?
Lisa hope the referral comes through quickly.
Heather Bea’s birthday presents. Sparkly tights too?
Michele I misted up when I read that you heard back from Bryan. You’ve come a long way baby.
Tina I like your “less”es. Well done!
Vicki tough to have to let someone go but ‘twere best done quickly. Sorry DH’s company didn’t withhold enough, that really stinks. I really hate having to pay so overwithholding is my friend.
Carol that you’ve got some sun to make you smile!
Joy glad your GD is confident enough to be annoyed at the coach’s “bronze is not acceptable” attitude. SMH.
Debbie Have you tried calling your mom’s landline? Sometimes phone/copper power comes on at central before house power in neighborhoods. Had to google “percussion frogs” Do yours sound like this?

Terri what was this weeks craft?

Rori my MD said I have “positional apnea” and should avoid sleeping on my back. He suggests piling up pillows or putting a tennis ball filled sock in the back of my shirt ?!? Are any of the mattresses you’re researching the kind that can elevate the head/shoulder area?
Tracey so glad for that kind/ethical saleswoman and Rodger’s retroactive raise. Whew!

Vicki - you sure have had a wild couple of days. Hope the next new hire works out - you are past due. Sorry about the tax payment - I ended up really raising my own withholding too to cover my DH's which was always too low it seems.
Joy - very exciting about your granddaughter! Wishing her skating group success - go for the gold! Thanks for being organic, by the way, and plowing through the paperwork for it.
Heather - sounds like a late night at the Parent's Evening. Very cute little dress, can't wait to see a photo of Bea modeling it.
Tina - hope you don't float away. Crazy weather indeed!
Michele - I think that's the going rate for taking down "danger trees". I wonder if he'll climb and take it down limb by limb? What kind of tree is it again?
Debbie - beautiful assortment of toys, you folks will be well stocked for the next show. What good luck finding that $100 bill.
Barbara - Heather's right, I saw the coffee/fiber connection on a ZOE video with Tim Spector. I think 1 gm fiber per cup. Plus all those polyphenols - it's a health food.
Pip- love seeing those old photos of you and Kirby and the MS ride when you'd go through Deception Pass. Keep us posted!
Rori - good luck on the mattress search. I have 2 toppers on a Saatva we bought years ago, and have been able to keep it usable. Good luck with your search.
Another busy day yesterday. Finished taxes, got them e-filed. Getting a small refund. Whew. Made an appointment with my podiatrist about my crookedy once-broken pinky toe and it's out-of-alignment sister toes. March 4th.
Had the girls out for a little walk in the yard yesterday. Gladys ate a huge slug and Thelma gobbled down a fat crane fly larva. Fairy found some nightcrawlers. Plus they ate their share of green grass and emerging dandelions. Good girls.
Make it a fabulous day!

Rori - We went with a nice, deep mattress topper on a reasonably priced mattress and have been happy with it for years now. Saves hundreds of dollars, gives us the comfort we want. Might even work on your current mattress. Just a thought. I see Lanette did the same thing.
Vicki - Hope you can find someone who can do the work and who wants to. Not easy these days, it seems, very much an employee's job market right now.
Annie - So pleased and proud of you for getting back on the horse (so to speak... ) I sluffed last week, and am trying to get myself going again.
Michele - So pleased to see the lines of communication with Bryan remain open.
To all our West Coasties - Hope the rains pass without too much damage.
Tracey - Thanks for the thought. It was about two months waiting time for the last knee replacement, if memory serves. Went to see him in early December, had the surgery in early February of 2019. Not great, but better than two years, certainly. I was sorry to hear about Toby Keith, too. He was on top of the charts when two of my brothers and my sister and I were doing karaoke, back in 1998, 1999. Great memories of a fun time with my family. I'd be miffed too about the friend's wheelbarrow... is it possible she doesn't have a way to haul it? So VERY pleased about Rodger's retro pay, raise, and benefits. Has his depression lifted at all? Hope the headache's lifted.
Heather - That is a fairy tale dress for Bea. Hope she likes it as much as we all do. I'm seeing two more reviews up for you besides mine - hopefully helpful with your publicity efforts.
Lanette - So pleased the girls were able to get some time and slug/bug-hunting in the yard...
More in a bit,
Love y'all,

Somehow it is Wednesday!
Monday and Tuesday were not good exercise or step days. Had DH's doctor Monday morning. DH was instructed to lose 20 pounds, start exercising, and continue limiting alcohol, processed foods, simple carbs, and candy. He explained that the liver will heal itself if given the chance. Then DH decided he wanted to order new glasses. I carried around his new prescription from September until December, guess what I didn't have. So of course, it was my fault that he couldn't get them right then. SMH. After that we went to chiropractor. Was a good visit, but chiro told DH if he wasn't going to do the exercises then there was no use in him continuing treatment. Hmm, two doctors telling him to exercise. .....Then we took work truck to dealer to get work done. Found out insurance card in truck was expired ....needed it for loaner. Now I have two insurance cards on my phone. Was a rough drop off. I asked DH if he wanted to stop and get glasses(I had picked up prescription when we ran home). He told me no, it wasn't important. I could have strangled him!!! When we got to work, his sister told him to go order his glasses. So off we went again! I finally started my work day at 330pm. Needless to say, it wasn't a productive work day. The saving grace Monday was visiting my hairdresser that night.
Yesterday I actually was able to buckle down and get a bunch of invoicing done. The downside was concentrating on the computer so much. I felt accomplished. Made honey garlic chicken for dinner last night. It was a hit! After cleaning kitchen, I was exhausted. I managed to clean up personal emails but my mind was just done.
My brother's (95) FIL continues to decline in hospital. His stomach nor esophagus are working. My DSIL is beside herself, but I hope they send him home soon for peace. Prayers for them.
Tracy I call that great customer service! I do the same thing. I refuse to take something in for repair without fully explaining options to customer regarding possible repairs vs replacement especially on lower end equipment. I just believe that if you treat people fairly they become repeat customers. Sorry for the loss of friend's mother. I love the grief analogy!
I have cheered, hugged, and sent healing thoughts to you all as I have read along. I just couldn't seem to get reply written. You are all special to me. Stay safe in the west with crazy weather. Enjoy the mild temps and sunshine in the Midwest. I need to get my day going.
Hugs!
Healing thoughts!
Thank you forvall the health information.
If you stumble, remember it is just a stumble not an end. We are here to pick you back up and offer loving support or Pip's boot, whichever is needed!
Have a great day!
Kylia in Ohio for another spring like day in February

Today I was able to walk 2 km at lunch, and climb 8 flights of stairs (20 stairs per flight, plus landings, up and down).
That's the most stairs I've climbed since before Christmas!

Good morning from the pre-dawn darkness of the River Valley, with mixed clouds and sun in the outlook, but nice and warm at 65F (18C).
They're forecasting record-breaking warm and sunny tomorrow at 72F (22C)! Corey is loving it, since he works outside so much or in an unheated shop.
I was up far too early, and not really sure why. Woke up feeling rested, so not going to worry about it too much. If I need a nap, I can take one. I have my usual acupuncture appointment this afternoon, and will stop on the way back home and get a couple more veggies to go with the pot roast for dinner. Do love the Instant Pot for things like this.
I was a complete slug yesterday, but it gave me time to learn to work with a trackball mouse. I've really been having trouble with my right wrist, and needed to do something different, so decided to try it. This is one where you move the cursor around with the thumb on the trackball, and it is very definitely a different movement than using your whole hand to move a mouse on a surface. The mouse stays completely still, just your thumb and fingers move. However, my right hand also didn't fall asleep last night for the first time in days!
Sitting also allowed the swelling in my right ankle to subside. I'll talk to the cardio doc about it on the 16th. He may want to up my diuretic dosage. Not too worried, but it does make it even more painful to walk, as it gets stiff and very cranky when it's swollen. When I was over 300 pounds, I did some terrible damage to it spraining my ankle three or four times.
That's it for right now, got a few things I want to get done this morning, going to dye my hair and then take a shower so I don't offend the acupuncture doc. Hope everyone has or had a wonderful Wednesday. Glad to see you back to stairclimbing Machka!
Love y'all!

Good morning ladies!
I woke up to a big chill. My dad went to talk to a neighbor and left the front door wide open. I love my father, but he is the worst roommate!
Nothing on the calendar today, so I ought to keep working on these credit cards. And exercise. I thought about trying to match your stair climbing, Machka, but I would hurt my knee. I'm better off with Lisa, ten minutes on a good day, for now.
Maybe I shouldn't sit with my knee folded under me!
I made chili last night, is that like soup?
Brown one pound lean hamburger with one large chopped onion. Add one can " chili ready" diced tomato, one tiny can of tomato sauce with the oregano in it, and two cans of kidney beans. Simmer for maybe an hour.
A very easy recipe for a tasty meal.
My doctor talked about my kidneys but I don't remember what she said, other than no more ibuprofen. I wonder if I should stop the plant protein that I add to my oatmeal, but I'm resisting. It is filling.
Well hope you all can dry out a bit! Have a great day,

GFR/Lab Tests ... my GP orders and reviews labs every 6 months as I take NSAIDS daily for arthritis. Honestly, I am not impressed with the medical community. I understand that they are over-worked, but there has to be a better way than some of you are experiencing.
Taxes ... I completed my husband's and my taxes as well as my son's yesterday. They've been emailed and accepted! Glad to have that done.
This meme about taxes always cracks me up ...
Continuing to use the treadmill twice a day and changing over some of my food choices. Slow going but at least it's movement in the right direction.

Bea's dress has arrived, and I've hung it up for the wrinkles to drop out. It was shrink-wrapped.
We had another scheduled cuddle session this afternoon. It really is an excellent idea I got from various people, including Vanessa and Alexander. I did not feel like it beforehand, but it's like writing or painting, you've got to get to the page, whether you feel like it or not. Then the magic happens. Also make it pleasure, not goal, related.

What kind of stuff do you take to your shows? Do you sell? Have you posted pictures? I'm interested to see.
Soup anyone? (see kevrit above)
Michelle in NV
We have 3D printed items- we have six printers that are being used with a couple in storage(one more heading there because he bought another new one)
I have posted a few things on here. I will post a few more-don't know how to put things in a spoiler-sorry.
We have only done one show so far- we have a lot of inventory built up now, will be looking into doing some craft type fairs this spring.
that was our first show, down in SF at the Moscone Center
Everything we are printed are articulated except for the percussion frogs
We have a lot more but don't have pictures of all of them yet. Planned on taking a lot of pictures at the show(that didn't happen)

Debbie If you don’t mind traveling for your shows, if you have a camper, you could come here for the Alien Festival the 4th of July Weekend (ufofestival.com) They haven’t posted the dates yet, but should be July 4-7 or the weekend before in June 28-30. With the type of items you make, you would sell a ton of them there! It’s hot but we are alway full up for that weekend, both campground and local hotels. It would be both fun and would most likely pay for the whole trip with the sales. I know someone who gets a booth with homemade ‘things’, (not the nicest booth or items and high priced) who sells out each year. Your creatures would be a great hit! PM me for more info.

Lisa - good luck with the knee replacement adventure, hope it happens in good time. So glad you are continuing with the acupuncture. Every little bit helps, right? Enjoy this shot of spring today.
Annie - that's my chili recipe too. Sometimes if I have leftover spaghetti sauce in the freezer, I'll dump that in. Great job on the bike.
Margaret - even though I was in charge of the finances in our house, it still took me a while to wade through getting all of the accounts moved over and straightened out. Some things, like getting the car titles put into my name, I haven't bothered with and won't until I eventually sell them. Same thing with the house deed, although I might get that done sooner than later. I did start on the house deed right after DH passed, then received conflicting information from my attorney and the title company and just let it drop.
Machka - high five on the walking and stair climbing. So happy to hear your energy is coming back.
Karen - I'm with with Rori. We are missing you a lot. Hope things are going well at your end with your spouse, your pups and the enjoyable dinners with other folks at your facility.
Kylia - good that two docs have now talked to your DH about exercise and bettering his eating, very timely. Glad also he finally got his eyeglasses ordered. I'm amazed at all you still got done after basically a day of running around. But that's how energizer bunnies work, right?
Sending hugs to all of you with kidney disease. A good reminder about not overdoing the ibuprofen. When I saw Dr. Lisa last October for yearly labs, she said she wanted to check my kidney function. I was kind of surprised she mentioned it, I wasn't aware of any problems and I missed asking her why. Maybe it's something she keeps on top of in her patients over 65? The tests came back in normal range so no worries. It's the creatinine and EGR values, right? I'll try to remember to ask her about it next time I see her. Her "ice job" on my nose, eyelid and arm mole looks successful.
Meeting friends for early lunch and plan to stop at the thrift store for a new purse. The store featured "designer purses" and showed several of them on FB. I'm looking for a leather purse with a heavy duty shoulder strap, I don't care if it's "designer" or not. Just need something sturdy and not too big. Dropping off one of DH's raincoats I found in the closet last week at the same time.
By the way, when I mentioned "Fast Car" being one of my favorites, it had nothing to do with the words. I liked the beat and the tune in general. I loved a lot of songs from the late 80's. DH and I were both still healthy, energetic and happy. Plus we had a fast car, lol.
Make it a wonderful day, ladies.

So glad I found this post! I'm 55 and currently 272#, nearly my all-time high weight, and I hate it. I've been back to logging and making a real effort, hoping to avoid becoming diabetic. My family is discussing a trip to Orlando next year (summer '25) and I want to sit comfortably on the airplane and in the amusement park rides. I would definitely welcome more accountability partners, but I do limit my friends on the app to to other women.6

Debbie--I think the items you made from the 3-D printer amazing. Great find.
All this talk about kidneys. I have labs done every 6 months and once a year they do the kidney test. I do go next Tuesday for my 6 month CT scan for my lungs.
Not a lot else going on here. Thinking and praying for each of you.

Here is something my nephrologist gave me to help prevent the CKD from getting worse: Put in spoiler as pics are pretty big.3
