How About We Don't Delete Newsfeeds

Also, forgot to mention that the scanner is on the FREE version of the app - so look at MyNetDiary. It’s one of the top reviewed Apps of 2024. Again, can connect fitbits and garmins and has a friends section and has a newsfeed. Also has a dietician on hand to answer questions.
I'm going to check this one out, thank you!0 -
Well, it finally happened. My News Feed has gone. 😭 I ditched 50lbs over the years here and the removal of this feature is my biggest loss to date.
I have been having a look around MyNetDiary, thanks to @daria0919's recommendation, and their community section seems pretty intuitive.1 -

I update my Android app, and then the web version simultaneously removed newsfeed.
I still have the newfeed button on my Android, and it still seems to be getting updates. Of course, many of the posts about people's activity are probably things they can't see since they don't have the newfeed any more.2 -
It is so dumb that they got rid of the best feature of the app. knowing you are not alone was what drew me to start using it. @Ellevated Dozens of my mfp pals have migrated over to Lose it.2

4700+ days, 123# lost, 100's of friends recommended to join the site...I was willing to stick around after Under Armor made some bad changes, but the current powers that be have really *kitten* up...30% of my friends list has deactivated and most of them have moved on to LoseIt. BECAUSE, that site has a group chat option. MFP is not the best for logging accurate workouts or food, unless you have a food scale or HRM, but i stuck with it for the comraderie....no longer. This is going to become a niche site, and I foresee layoffs of personnel and scaling back on the actual usefulness of this site. my 2 cents.5

I am sad to report my Newsfeed is gone today - was there very early this morning, but is no more. Sigh.
I don't want to start somewhere else without my years of data, but I am considering it.
And I am a premium member.6 -

Not that it really matters, but for completeness my newsfeed was killed on my Android App with upgrading to "MFP Version 24.22.0" dated May 30, 2024.

This is sad! I have already moved to LoseIt to log my food because I can use the scanner feature, but I still come back to MFP for the newsfeed. I don't really want everyone registered on this website to see my activity. Admin should find a way to have it be viewable by friends only. Although, as others have mentioned, it's not practical to log into each individual's friend's page to see what they are up to. This will not motivate me!6

Hello everyone, many of us are now on Lose It. Search for MFP exodus group. Let’s ditch mfp. Tell all your friends. Most of us paid for prime on Lose It. MFP lost our business5

Has anyone looked over MyNetDiary app? It seems to let you find friends and has a newsfeed!! Can sync other apps to it for steps too! It has great reviews, even the most recent ones.
Oh hey, this is promising. The social aspect seems way better than loseit. Also better for me in general as I plan a week in advance, and loseit doesn't let you do that without a subscription.
The recipe creator is where a lot of these guys falter, which is sad as there are great ones readily available online that are as good as MFPs in-built one.1 -
Its sad and ironic. I was a user of MFP for 12+ years - using the free version. They took away the newsfeed and I moved over to Lose It. I have now purchased an annual membership there to use features that were free here.
Those features (the newsfeed, scanning, customizing food diary), had they been moved to a paid version on MFP, would have caused me to stay and pay here. But instead LoseIt! has my money and MFP just causes me sadness.
Also.. I've reported two bugs to Lose It in the last two days and I've spoken with customer support both times and had both issues troubleshooted, logged and one was addressed. None of this canned response bs.
MFP... I am so sad that this is the end. I really did form some amazing bonds here and I thank MFP for that. I just wish you guys had listened to your users a bit more.
funny enough... I just got a satisfaction survey prompted here for how I use the forums and whether they've made a difference in my life. Well they did - they helped me find friends that I then developed bonds with ON MY NEWSFEED and in my actual life. The community was a gateway to relationship. Now it's just a doorway to nowhere.9 -
If anybody wants to try MyNetDiary, I just made a group there similar to the one on loseit for people migrating away from MyFitnessPal.

Yes, I heard about that, thanks. The name puts me off though. I don't think I'm their target audience.1 -
If anybody wants to try MyNetDiary, I just made a group there similar to the one on loseit for people migrating away from MyFitnessPal. Their newsfeed functionality is actually better than myfitnesspals at first glance. I've just been playing with it today, but the main issue for me seems to be the recipe creator, otherwise everything is more sleek and quite a bit less buggy. The news feeds actually more functional than the one here ever was.

I didn't realize what happened, I kept trying different browsers. That was the only reason I've stayed so many years. Bummer, I guess I'll look elsewhere after talking to the pals i kept in touch with.4

Came in to search why my feed looked so strange now I see losing the profile went ahead ... considering it's 13th June has anyone found an alternative they like? Been with MFP since 2009 but this is a joke and a huge disappointment 👀2

#SAVE OUR NEWS FEEDS I NEED MY MOTIVATION FRIENDS1

It is a horrible decision to remove the news feed. Fitness with PALS is so much more productive than ALONE.3

👋 Hi, popping in to say I'm seeing your tags and discussions and doing my best to read all of your feedback and pass it along.
It may take me some time to respond to questions, but just know that I am seeing them and trying to find or think of solutions for the things that I can control.
@Betty - I bet this app will lose a lot of money because people will not renew their PREMIUM SUBSCRIPTIONS!! Having the privacy and friendships in the NEWSFEED is an extremely unique and important part of MyFitnessPal. I for one will be one of those that will not renew premium if a GREAT solution is not found for keeping the newsfeed or its equivalent for us to keep our privacy and our friends!
Since you say you’re STAFF you surely must have some means of stressing the importance of keeping the newsfeed to the developers. PLEASE HELP US!! - thanks!!
I absolutely regret renewing my premium for a whole year just before finding this out about the news feed.
When I came back this time I was hoping to curate a new news feed with active friends that can help keep me on track. wow. talk about a letdown.
shame on you MFP.4 -
Retiring the Newsfeed feature - SO DISAPPOINTING
The myfitnesspal spin doctors say "We are always evaluating our offerings to improve our members’ experience on the MyFitnessPal app. The Newsfeed is a RARELY USED feature. Therefore, we have removed it ...".
I have used the MFP App on the website and via iOS, in combination with Fitbit, for 7 years 8 months. In 2016-2017, over a period of 14 months, I went from 87kg (192 pounds) to 58.3kg (128.5 pounds) and increased my overall fitness and wellbeing considerably. Since achieving my goal, I have used MFP + Fitbit to monitor my diet and exercise in a self-imposed maintenance program, knowing that at my age (79) metabolism slows and the weight goes ON more easily. I had a short break from using it, and re-joined. My current streak is 1,575 days.
Contrary to MFP's "reason" I have used the Newsfeed EVERY DAY for the entire period and found it MOTIVATING. I have a "community" in real life, and, as a high self-reinforcer, have not felt the need for an online/virtual cheer squad to spur me on. I am casting about for an alternative to MFP to track food and exercise and monitor my weight. PLEASE REINSTATE the Newsfeed feature, and thank you for reading this. (PLEASE EXCUSE CROSS-POSTING)5
