Good morning beautiful ladies!
Beth thinking of you and your mother! It makes me wonder how long I will be able to take care of Dad, and what the next stage will be like.
Carol and Heather swift recovery to you both!
We plan to meet a friend to walk, but there is rain in the area. Otherwise just chores.
I'm reading "Not Another Love Song" by Julie Soto. So cute, great characters. It's a bit of romantic fluff to balance out my usual thrillers.
Have a marvelous day! May you be happy, healthy, safe, and free!

We had to call 911 last night. Jake's defibrillator shocked his heart back to normal rhythm. He felt OK but the paramedics did an EKG and a bunch of stuff then put him in the ambulance and took him to our local ER. They checked with his cardiologist who asked that they transport him to the cardiologist's hospital about 90 minutes away. The dogs and I didn't sleep well and got up early. We'll know more later.

Carol - bet it feels good to be graduating to a cane, you're on your way. Where would we be without PT?
Terri - as I was going through my closet yesterday, I found 2 nice - and still stylish - dressy tops that fit, purchased from the Christopher and Banks store at least 10 years ago. I see they have an on-line catalog. And tried on jeans and dressier pants, also at least 10 years old, that now fit since I've lost a few pounds purchased from Dress Barn. I thought that was a weird name for a store that carried, in my opinion, really nice clothing. I'm set in clothing for a while.
Lisa - great idea about whittling down the T-shirts. I cleaned out DH's bureau a while back and took a box full to the charity shop. Plus I was getting a collection of my own that I thinned out.
Annie - glad the birthday celebration went well. Bet everyone had a good time catching up.
Machka - great hearing from you, you were missed!
Got my walk in, chickens tended, blueberries picked.
Have a wonderful weekend, ladies Back later.

Barbie - Oh, what a horrible scare! So grateful for modern medical inventions. Sending hugs.
My friend G has been feeling crushingly tired as she is reducing her long-term steroid dose, so she decided to go to Oxford from Portsmouth by train and not risk driving. Horrible journey up yesterday, and coming back just now, she had to change at Southampton, and left her v important wheelie case on the train. (This is typical of her ) Lost Property number not answering, but the station staff at Portsmouth got in contact with Bournemouth, and the case is there, safe and sound! So, it is a jaunt to Bournemouth tomorrow for her.
Apart from other things the case contains all her recorders (instruments), as she travels to Oxford fortnightly to play in a very long standing recorder group. She plays all the range from smallest to biggest. I remember her playing on the stage at school and the sound of the group was very impressive. So glad she will be reunited with her instruments.
I've just woken up from a two hour nap! I can smell cauliflower cooking.
John cut the 'meadow' this afternoon, according to 'Gardeners World ' instructions. (A much loved TV programme) Sad to see the sea of yellow go, but it has to be done, in order to get a range of wild flowers next year.
Much love, Heather UK xxxxxxxx6 -
Tracey - Amazon Prime is amazing for clothes and accessories these days. So easy to send back. You don't need to pack it up, or anything! My local PO is where I take my returns, about 400 yards away. Many people even order heaps of clothes, in different sizes, and send most of them back. The gold belt I ordered is a tiny bit tight on me, so I am sending it back. I may order a bigger one.
Some items even have a 'try before you buy' facility.
I never worry about returns these days.

Three good sleeping nights in a row...11p.m.- 7a.m. Some dreaming. No leg cramps or having to get up for the bathroom! I am starting to use breathe right stripes to help me breathe even better and still place a piece of surgical tape on my mouth to encourage nasal breathing as I sleep. I no longer wake to a dry scratchy throat and think it helps with not having to get up to use the bathroom. I think it is also helping with my gun disease. 155.8 today. Learning more and more the importance of good sleep for weight loss and overall health. One of the books I read on sleep is what you do during the day affects your night's sleep. When you wake up it is important to go outside for about ten minutes without sunglasses to set your circadian rhythm. I water my outdoor plants when I wake up now. Not having coffee past 10 in the morning seems to help me too. Pacing myself throughout the day and taking time to stretch also part of the plan.5

Working in pay booth today and tomorrow all day. So rough weekend. Slept late this morning as Brownie kept me up all night with bathroom breaks. Rather she does that than mess the bed.
Yesterday food wise was not good. DH came to town with me and he wanted to go to Long John Silver’s for fish and chips (fries). All fried, all highly breaded, I took a lot of the breading off, at half the Cole slaw then realized it had Mayo in it when my stomach started hurting. Only ate 1 of the hush puppies, not even all of it at that. Too greasy, too breaded. Supper, I had a biscuit warmed and buttered with strawberries and blueberries on it, yummy! But then, DH had bought some turnovers and had 2!!!!! Not healthy!! Today is another day and will eat properly. Had oatmeal for breakfast today with 1/4 cup blueberries, 1/4 cup strawberries, 1/2 small organic banana, 1 T butter, and 1T almond butter. Yesterday breakfast was muesli with 1/2 organic banana and 6 Oz. Generic plain yogurt.
Until tomorrow ladies!! I need to get moving!

Thanks one and all for your support, as I know folks are from all over - someone mentioned that this was a state problem, it is not, because it is a medicare/social security issue it is a federal government issue.
thanks for the love and support,

Barbie - Good thoughts up for Jake, 🤗 and tender ones for you, 💖as you make everything work right for his return home. Thinking of you.

Hello ladies,
I hope you don't mind if I join in. I love seeing so many familiar names still here. I miss the newsfeed MFP had as that was one way I stay connected with many people on here, but with it gone I've been trying to find threads I've participated in and am happy this one is still here. I was off MFP for awhile as I was dealing with medical issues and am now working toward healing my body and my mind. Illness can really take a toll on a person's mental health also, and I know I've been having some depression.
I've been trying to read some of July's thread to catch up a bit, and I have been interested in the food and nutritional posts some of you have been sharing. I think part of my journey forward needs to be focusing on leveling up many of my food choices--eating more whole foods and less processed. I know my body feels better when I eat that way, but I actually CRAVE pizza and Lay's potato chips so yeah...there's that. 😁
Barbie, you and Jake are in my prayers. This has to be scary for you both.
Tracey, I hope you hear soon about the job and that you get it!

Barbie-scary times! Hopefully based in the information they gather they can get Jake on the right track.
Kim-is it an issue with Medicare or do you have a Medicare Advantage plan? Basic coverage is the same but advantage plans vary by state. I noticed on the state website ca.gov there is a senior gate way page with a link to an advocacy group for medicare-have you seen if one of them can help? https://seniors.insurance.ca.gov/hc/Medicare-and-MediCal.cfm#:~:text=Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid, eligible participants 65 or over.
I've been looking at my post retirement options/choices for a year off and on and I am clueless what to chose so I will take all the help I can get. Luckily my state retirement system hooks us up with a navigator program.
Very tired today-feet painful-perhaps the rain has kicked up the arthritis. Slowly getting things done.
Take care all,

Well I was going to run out to Subway to pick up a veggie sub,but it started to downpour.. so Im guessing the good lord was saying not today Allie.. so i ended up having cottage cheese and blueberries.. which is better for me anyway..
We have thunderboomers coming through.
And watching Triple D.8 -
I am a lurker and honestly (no tea no shade) don't get involved. BUT...I do have to give a shout out and super thank you to the info on Dawgs (Debbie I think). I used to love Okabashis but couldn't find the right ones. Thanks to you I took advantage of the 55% off coupon...PLUS I got 10% off for new customer and bought three pair of super comfy, just my style in your fave shoes. They all are dufferent and they all are perfect.
Again, I just wanted to say thank you and even those of us who lurk are following you.

Ginny - you might want to check out this guy on YouTube. He gives good explanations of the difference between Medicare Supplemental and Medicare Advantage plans. Pros and cons of each.
Hopefully your state's navigator program will give you all of the pertinent info too.
Lots to check out. Good luck. Here it is:

Jake is still in the local hospital awaiting transport to the hospital where his cardiologist is. The local hospital has been treating him with some meds and monitoring him
Jake called both his children and both of them called me. His son whom we haven't seen in about ten years is making plans to drive up from Oregon on Friday. His daughter who was here a month ago offered to come up whenever we wanted her. Gotta take things one day at a time

Barbie - I stopped in to see if you had checked in. Thank you for letting us know. Many good thoughts surrounding you and Jake, holding you up.
Tracie in WI - Welcome back! I remember you, as my ex was a Packer nut, so you stayed in my memory.
Kylia - The babies have gotten so big so fast!
I had a good day - worked on the quilt and did bits of laundry and such things 'til about 7 am, then fell over for about four hours, lovely and restful. Corey and I did a little shopping together in the early afternoon. We both rustled up something for dinner - mine was just mushrooms and rice. Quiet, peaceful life when we're not working on a house project! Love it.
Later, my darlins'
Love,
