Hello, my chickens,

Lanette - When I was trying to figure out if Corey was wearing all of the ungodly number of T-shirts in his closet, I put everything on a white hanger. When I pulled anything out of the washer, it went on a black hanger. If anything was still on a white hanger six months later, it headed for the donation pile. Barring his one decent suit for weddings/funerals, etc.

Working on the quilt from heck this morning. I can see the finish line, I swear! It's the pinning and prep work that just seems to go on forever. Corey gently suggested that I not start another quilt for a year or so. I think he's sick of this one... 👀😲🤣

Up and down all night last night probably because it was my last night with the steroid on board, and hopefully I can get a full night's sleep this weekend. My body says I've got plenty of energy, but my mind is not in agreement. It will pass...

No real plans for today... do need to get out and get the garden watered this morning. Our water bill was just stupid high, but that garden is too important to Corey to let it suffer and die. Hopefully we can get through enough of our priority list to get the well looked at, tuned up and online. We want to put a solar panel on it, so it will be independent of electricity and water. That is, however, way down the road, so we're stuck with city water for a few more years, most likely.

Oh yeah - now we're at August 2nd already... My goals were, as usual... Be lighter, be healthier and stay on budget. One pound lighter, definitely healthier, but the budget took a hit due to the carport reno. That one is definitely a "one and done," though, so there's that. 🤷🏻‍♀️😲

Same goals for August.

Lanette, Everything I'm wearing now was bought online. I haven't bought anything in a store in over five years. When I find something I like, I order one in the size that seems right. I try it on and if I don't like the fit, I send it back and exchange for a different size or style. I try different sites until I find what fits. It takes time and sometimes money, but through persistence, I have a small wardrobe of things I love.

Dinner yesterday, Huge salad, small roasted chicken thigh and roasted potato slices. Nectarine for dessert. Breakfast was oatmeal, almond milk, 1/2 banana, butter, almond butter. Supper was a biscuit with butter and cream cheese.

Rita - I am envious of your beetroot. I adore it, but John loathes and fears it. He associates it with childhood memories of that vinegary stuff in jars, though I have explained multiple times that it's nothing like that. Occasionally I buy it for myself, and he makes faces, (love it with feta), and I nearly always have it in a restaurant, if it's on the menu. Soooo good for you.

I've just woken up from a 90 minute sleep. Wonderful!
John has brought me up a cup of tea.

I lost 2 pounds in July ... sigh ... same pounds I keep losing and finding. We are definitely making a reset in my household, however. My husband's blood labs were not good. Evidently, if I'm not planning and preparing well-rounded meals, my guys just out and out eat junk. Everyone is on board so we'll see how it goes.

My husband is having problems with his heart rhythm and he is wearing a heart monitor for 2 weeks. He's a worrier so need to keep things even keeled until he gets an updated diagnosis and treatment plan. He's experienced this before and there's been conflicting opinions on what to do in the past. Now the problem is becoming more pronounced and will require a definitive plan.

In just a bit I'll be heading to my mother. The current facility changed her room Tuesday and that just seems to have rocked her boat too hard. The confusion and inability to speak a sentence that makes any sense is pitiful. And she was doing better too. Lesson learned. I'll not allow anymore room changes in this facility.

It's raining today. Much needed really.

Wow! It's taken my son nearly a year of wrangling to get the skylights replaced. They didn't fit properly. It's taken soooo long. The biggest square one in the kitchen needs a crane to get it over the roof. Hope it fits! Photo sent by DDIL.

I’ve been having a day offline. Weather was changeable, so mostly indoors.

Yesterday we did a little tree surgery on an old rowan that was getting very ratty looking. We are pruning lots of our shrubs as they are outgrowing their allotted places.

Lanette: I loved Christopher and Banks when I visited the US years ago. I still have several of the items I got there 😂

Hot, humid and smoky here today. Not good for breathing. Got horses out in the back pasture with lots of shade. Goats have plenty of shade in their pen. Not even the gazebo is cool. Glad we have a couple of room air conditioners in the house.

Beth - so sorry your mom is having a hard time with the room move.

Lisa - you guys have made lots of improvements on the house but ours always seem to put a pretty good dent in the budget. We have been trying to save to buy a compact tractor with a brush hog but every time we think we are making progress something else comes up like needing a new dryer or new transmission in the truck so the tractor is still on hold.

Kim - there are no words for your situation. Government red tape is a bear complicated by others who take advantage of the system.

Sue - Ditto on the tractor, probably for similar reasons, just to make so many jobs easier... but a) they're expensive, even used, and b) something else always comes up that takes that priority. I've promised that as soon as my car's paid off this time next year, we'll look at buying a tractor, but it's always a *fingers crossed, if nothing else goes south* kind of process with a big place like this one.

Lanette Unfortunately, the new garage addition is the same size as our home! It is 30x50. Without our room addition and the attached garage that is the size of our 3 bedroom/2 bath ranch. My idea of a tiny home is much smaller.

Ginny The storms were awful! A clap of thunder and lightening right over the house scared the you know what out of me. I screamed, kittens froze, we all curled up in the house. The shop lost power which screwed up lots of computer stuffs. Of course SIL didn't call and tell me there was a problem with the computers so that I had a heads up. I got to work at 8:40 (we open at 9). One phone shorted out, one router dead, only one computer half working, credit card machine not working, one printer not working. The positive is we were slow and most customers were great about cash only. I bought two new routers, hooked things back up, still no good. Spent from 11-4 on the phone between the credit card processor, the business system provider, and Spectrum. I finally figured it out! Spectrum couldn't answer the questions I asked. I finally switched an ethernet cable to another port and finally got everything working at about 430. It was a really rough day!

Kim That is awful!!!!! I hope you get some answers and relief soon. Our medical system is so screwed up. HUGS!!!!

I am exhausted and time for bed.

Lanette...RIght now my mother lives independent in an over 55 apt complex. She has been there about 14 years and has many friends there. And a van that picks her and others up to go to the Senior Center. She plays bridge on Fridays and my brother takes her to church most weekends. She is in a book group...and does some Tai Chi...we text everyday and talk once a week. She is within a mile of one brother and 5 miles of another and has grown grandchikdren. She attended all the ball games of the nephews. I am more isolated than she is! She flew down to GA to my son's wedding in 2022. So one brother is father of the bride and the other will be artiving late to the wrdding. So it really is my turn to step up. I will hate missing seeing my in-laws. Such nice people!
