Lanette - I have bought three shirts online. I went by the size charts and one was too big and one was too small. I know a lot of people have great luck with it, but I am too scared to try again. We have a Canadian discount store that I love getting shirts at, unfortunately our local one just closed last month.
There isn’t any smoke in our area right now. I hope it stays that way.

Lisa - what a great idea to know if something is being worn or not. I normally decide at the season change if I haven’t worn stuff that year I donate it.

Beth - I hope your DH’s problem is easily fixed.
What a shame that moving rooms has upset your Mom so much.

Heather - I hope these skylights are properly fit and installed.

Rosemarie - are you able to add a couple of days to your trip to spend with your in-laws?

Well I didn’t hear from them today, I did hear from another reference who says she feels 99.99% sure the job is mine. She said she felt that the reference check was just a formality.
I won’t hear anything now until at least Tuesday but I at least won’t be anxious all day waiting for the phone to ring.

I am going to trade cars with my daughter for the week as hers needs some repairs and they are going on a family trip 3 hours away. I would prefer that they aren’t on the highway with theirs, but this may interrupt two of my days plans.

I am just getting ready to go to bed, but I saw lightning and heard thunder so will stay up a bit longer.

Heather - Good grief on the skylight--such a long time for a fix. Obviously not a minor fix, but a year is a kinda ridiculous...

Nearly 1 a.m. here, took a two-hour nap yesterday afternoon, fell in bed by 7:30 when Corey sloped off to the bathtub for a long soak, and am going to try to go right back to sleep. If not, I'll pop back up and get some work done on the quilt from heck.

Oh Tracey ! What a pain to be waiting so long. I presume you have a bank holiday on Monday like us.
Yes, I do hope the company got it right this time. They haven't been able to finish decorating, and the big square skylight, which is near the family room, has been covered up the whole year. I don't understand how they got every skylight wrong. I can understand one, but all of them?!

Slept pretty OK, with my usual hour in the middle to go to the loo, shut the window, put one sock on, ( shove the other one under a cardigan ) , take some painkillers, and read while I wait for them to work. I should have bought a sock putter-onner, but it's a bit late now. After that I slept well, until 6 am.

Dull day, and much cooler. My unclad foot is cold. I welcome the lower temps and I think John will too. He seems a bit tired with all his efforts of looking after me, back pain, and it being too hot and sticky. He is nearly 79.
I think he might make cauliflower cheese today. He knows how to do that, and it'sdelicious. Teaching him how to make my dishes only causes frustration. I very much want him to go to cricket tomorrow, but he is reluctant to leave me. It's mainly going downstairs that he worries about. I hope I can persuade him.

I have a gold belt arriving today. Again, it's to cheer up my navy.

Thinking of those of you having weather related woes. Hoping they pass quickly. Our minor temp rises seem paltry in comparison.

Same old same old today. Local shops, chores, gardening, play some games, watch TV. Maybe some crafting. Do some exercise.

Been up since 3 AM and ready to take a nap!

Kim ~ I really hate the mess the state has made as you try to figure out the health care you deserve.

Kylia ~ The kittens are so cute! We have had a lot of thunder storms this week also but are lucky that we did not lose power. Even though our yard people came on Tues. the drive is now full of debris and lots of pine cones.

Tracey ~ I have been shopping mostly online for the last 5 yrs. Amazon Prime has been great as it is so easy to return things that don't fit. I am a strange size and it is really difficult to find tops that hide my middle and pants that are not 5" too long.

Heather ~ Sorry you are in pain with the hip. I am feeling housebound and wanting to get out and about, but, I will have to wait. Used my cane instead of walker to go to PT yesterday. Still having to wait for the swelling and discoloration to subside.

Lisa I know your sleep schedule isn't normal, but I kind of like it! I am normally at my best early morning and late night. It is the middle of the day that my energy sags. I can't seem to think between 2-8 pm. Unfortunately work keeps getting in the way.

Heather Do you have toilet downstairs? Could DH help you down for while he is gone? My DH wouldn't have lasted 2 days as a caregiver! I am proud of all the DHs doing so well at that task. Any surgery/illness I have had, two days is great, then he lacks understanding the healing process. Part of that could be as he always has to be doing something. Part is possibly because if I am down he can't go anywhere. SMH! I love that belt!

Tracey The wait is hard, but I hope it ends with a job. They seem to be giving this position a lot of thought.

Five days until my short trip! So much to do, will miss the kitties, but excited as it has been awhile since I have gone solo anywhere other than the grocery! Driving the Miata. I have an orange blouse but need something white. College colors are orange and white.

Speaking of things to do.....better get my day going.

We had to call 911 last night. Jake's defibrillator shocked his heart back to normal rhythm. He felt OK but the paramedics did an EKG and a bunch of stuff then put him in the ambulance and took him to our local ER. They checked with his cardiologist who asked that they transport him to the cardiologist's hospital about 90 minutes away. The dogs and I didn't sleep well and got up early. We'll know more later.

Terri - as I was going through my closet yesterday, I found 2 nice - and still stylish - dressy tops that fit, purchased from the Christopher and Banks store at least 10 years ago. I see they have an on-line catalog. And tried on jeans and dressier pants, also at least 10 years old, that now fit since I've lost a few pounds purchased from Dress Barn. I thought that was a weird name for a store that carried, in my opinion, really nice clothing. I'm set in clothing for a while.

Lisa - great idea about whittling down the T-shirts. I cleaned out DH's bureau a while back and took a box full to the charity shop. Plus I was getting a collection of my own that I thinned out.

Annie - glad the birthday celebration went well. Bet everyone had a good time catching up.

Machka - great hearing from you, you were missed!

Got my walk in, chickens tended, blueberries picked.

Barbie - Oh, what a horrible scare! So grateful for modern medical inventions. Sending hugs.

My friend G has been feeling crushingly tired as she is reducing her long-term steroid dose, so she decided to go to Oxford from Portsmouth by train and not risk driving. Horrible journey up yesterday, and coming back just now, she had to change at Southampton, and left her v important wheelie case on the train. (This is typical of her ) Lost Property number not answering, but the station staff at Portsmouth got in contact with Bournemouth, and the case is there, safe and sound! So, it is a jaunt to Bournemouth tomorrow for her.
Apart from other things the case contains all her recorders (instruments), as she travels to Oxford fortnightly to play in a very long standing recorder group. She plays all the range from smallest to biggest. I remember her playing on the stage at school and the sound of the group was very impressive. So glad she will be reunited with her instruments.

I've just woken up from a two hour nap! I can smell cauliflower cooking.
John cut the 'meadow' this afternoon, according to 'Gardeners World ' instructions. (A much loved TV programme) Sad to see the sea of yellow go, but it has to be done, in order to get a range of wild flowers next year.

Tracey - Amazon Prime is amazing for clothes and accessories these days. So easy to send back. You don't need to pack it up, or anything! My local PO is where I take my returns, about 400 yards away. Many people even order heaps of clothes, in different sizes, and send most of them back. The gold belt I ordered is a tiny bit tight on me, so I am sending it back. I may order a bigger one.
Some items even have a 'try before you buy' facility.
I never worry about returns these days.
