This challenge is for those who need to lose 100+ lbs.

My name is Lisa. I’m 5’5” and weigh 300 lbs. My goal weight is 200 lbs (size 16). I’ll still be heavy, but I’m fine with that. I have no desire to be thin. I was always sick when I was thin (135). I’m much healthier with some meat on my bones (and fat smoothes out the wrinkles).

Are you up for the challenge? If so, please join me on MY 100 POUND JOURNEY. Tell us about yourself. What are your short-term and long-term goals? State your name, starting weight, and describe your weight-loss method (calorie counting, low-carb, vegan, keto, weight-watchers, etc.).

Post your weekly/monthly weight loss progress. Share weight loss tips, recipes, etc. Make friends, and get encouraged/motivated. Enjoy the journey! 🦋

I’m out of the 300’s now. I weighed 299.2 this morning. My weight loss plan is to exclude meat & dairy from my diet. I eat mostly whole food plant based, but I do cheat a little once in a while. Can’t resist Costco’s pumpkin pie during the holidays. My goal is to Lose about 10 lbs a month, and reach 200 by January 1, 2026. ⭐️

Yes. The disadvantage of starting a new 100 pound challenge every year is that I miss reading everyone's old posts and how they're doing. I can't remember everyone's history. I miss being able to see that.

Lisa, please refresh our memory about your history. Your current weight and goal weight and what's new with you. 🙏

Okay, here goes the refresher course. Lol.

My name is Lisa, for those who don't know. I go by Lis as a nickname. I've had a weight problem and eating problem my whole life. My highest weight was 373lbs back in 2022. I didn't really get serious about losing weight until last April. Knowing I was turning 40 in 2025 and that it gets harder to lose weight as you age, I wanted to weigh less by the time I reached 40. Earlier this year I got out of the 300's, which was one of the short-term goals I had. My long-term goal is to get down to 225-220lbs. I would still be considered obese but I remember being that weight before and I looked overweight at most, not obese, and felt fine. My current weight is 281.4lbs. As of today, I have lost 91.6lbs. My next short-term goal is to get down to 270lbs.

Wow! Lis, you’re doing great. How are you doing it? Low carb, low calorie, or what? Please be specific, because whatever it is, I wanna try it. I admire you for wanting to stay heavy and healthy. Me too.

I weighed 295.4 this morning. I've lost about 9 lbs since Friday. Losing weight too fast because I'm suffering with Cholecystitis (gallbladder infection). Went to the hospital for it in July. It's flaring up again. Must be more strict about what I eat. I give in too easily. Trying to hang on to my gallbladder as long as I can.

GO HIGH-CARB FOR ENERGY, WEIGHT-LOSS, AND HEALTH

    High Carb Diet

A high carb diet is a dietary pattern that emphasizes foods rich in carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are essential nutrients that provide energy to the body.

    Foods High in Carbs:

    • *Grains: Bread, pasta, rice, quinoa, oatmeal
    • *Fruits: Bananas, apples, berries, sweet potatoes
    • *Starchy vegetables: Potatoes, peas, lentils

*Sugary foods: Candy, soda, juice, pastries

Benefits of a High Carb Diet:

    * Improved athletic performance: Carbs provide energy for exercise.

    * Increased satiety: High-carb foods can make you feel full, which may help with weight management.

    * Reduced risk of certain diseases: Some studies suggest that a high-carb diet may be protective against certain types of cancer and heart disease.

    The great potato myth.

Myth #1: potatoes are fattening. In fact, potatoes are delicious and nutritious!  Potatoes are fat-free, cholesterol-free and a good source of Vitamin B6 and dietary fiber. They are also high in Potassium and Vitamin C.

Myth #2: Potatoes are just starch. These mighty tubers are much more than “starch”. A medium baked potato provides us with 620 mg of Potassium (that’s more than a banana) and 45% of your RDA of Vitamin C. How’s that for you “dieters”? If that’s not enough, they are gluten free. They also contain iron!

The French were on to something when they called potatoes, pomme de terre or “apple of the earth”. These wonderful gifts of the soil are a nutritional powerhouse when cooked properly and eaten as part of a balanced diet.

Now for the bad news—frying potatoes cancels out nearly all of the good. So, fries are for “sometimes” and baked potatoes are for “everyday”. Baked potatoes give you all of the aforementioned nutrients with the added bonus of filling you up, the satiety factor. If you eat your baked potato with low-fat sour cream you are eating a 155 calorie healthy side dish.  Next time you tell the waitress to “skip the potato”, think again and do yourself a favor by ordering the potato!

I love, love ❤️ potatoes. So easy! So good! Make the tummy So happy!

I need more potassium! I need more vitamin C! I need more iron!

I had a big sweet potato for lunch 😋.

Maybe I'll have a big white potato 🥔 tomorrow 🤔.

You did it! Yay, Corina. You’ve inspired me to bake some russet potatoes for breakfast tomorrow, with a little ketchup on the side. 😋 Despite the myths, potatoes really are a great weight loss food. You’ll see.

I love russets the most. I rub the potato down with extra virgin olive oil, and sprinkle it with pink salt before cooking to crisp up the skin. Bake at 350 for about 45 min, slice it open and sprinkle on the goodies: “Everything but the bagel sesame seasoning blend,” chopped green onions, and maybe some sautéed mushrooms, chopped steamed broccoli, or zucchini. Whatever’s in the fridge. 😋

For dinner tonight, I had tofu scramble. It’s healthier than eggs. Also had a baked potato with ketchup on the side.

Tofu scramble can be a healthier alternative to scrambled eggs as it's lower in saturated fat and cholesterol while also being a good source of plant-based protein. Here's a more detailed comparison:

    • Protein: Both tofu and eggs are excellent sources of protein, with tofu containing slightly more protein per serving.
    • Fat: Eggs contain more fat, including saturated fat, compared to tofu.
    • Cholesterol: Eggs contain cholesterol, while tofu is naturally cholesterol-free.
    • Nutrients: Tofu is a good source of calcium and iron, while eggs are rich in vitamins and choline.
    • Tofu is a complete protein: meaning it has all of the essential amino acids.
    • Tofu is a heart-healthy choice: because it is lower in saturated fat and cholesterol than eggs.
    • Tofu contains phytoestrogens: that are protective against certain cancers like prostate cancer and breast cancer, and against heart disease

Hi, newbie here. I have over 100lbs to lose, so I figured I'd join in :)

I'm Jen, I'm in my early 40's, and this isn't my first rodeo, haha.

At the time of posting, I weigh 331lbs, I started my weight loss journey six weeks ago at 356lbs.

I'm following the Slimming World plan, although mostly just sensible eating and exercise.

I don't have a target weight yet, I'm just seeing how things go, but I'd love to be able to get into a size 16 pair of jeans again (its been more than 20 years since that's happened!).

My long-term goals are to just be healthier, improve my mental health, and maybe one day do an epic walking challenge like the Camino de Santiago.

I look forward to taking on this challenge with you all :)

Hello Jen. Welcome to MY 100 POUND JOURNEY. You’ve lost 25 lbs in only 6 weeks! 👏 😀

Thanks for sharing your weight loss plan. The “slimming world plan” sounds very interesting:

Key Features of the Slimming World Plan:

“Food Optimising: The core of the plan revolves around eating plenty of "Free Foods" (low-energy dense, highly satiating foods) like lean meats, fish, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruits, and vegetables, which can be consumed without restriction.”

Size 16 is also my goal size.

How to get rid of lymphedema in legs naturally?

What Are Lymphedema Home Treatment Options?

    1. Elevation. It's harder for fluid to flow against gravity, so your lymphatic system may have a tough time draining if fluid is building up in your legs. ...

    2. Compression. ...

    3. Skin treatment. ...

    4. Manual lymphatic drainage. ...

    5.Exercise.

    Drink Plenty of Water:

Drinking plenty of water can help manage lymphedema symptoms by promoting the body's filtration and elimination functions. Being dehydrated causes your body to hold onto excess liquid, so staying hydrated supports your lymphatic system health.

Funny your posting that now—timely for me.

I'm just beginning to have a little swelling on one leg—not enough to go to the Doctor yet. But I bought a tens/ems unit. 2 or 3 treatments—gone. It's also helping my peripheral neuropathy. I can feel cold in my feet. Always cold. Had to buy some new fuzzy slippers. Just as it's turning warm.

My daughter tried a tens when she was in her 20s and she told me not to waste my money. I think there's a lot of difference between a healthy active 20yr old who runs marathons and a little old lady who makes it to the bathroom and back on her own just fine. Best $30 I've spent in a long time.

    Happy Monday, fellow challengers :)

    Weekly Weigh-in:

326.5lbs (-2.5 from last week). I made a typo in my first post - I was 332lbs, so I was 329lbs in my second (oops!). Either way, I'm feeling excited to be inching closer to getting out of the 300's.

I actually get weighed 'officially' on a Wednesday, so this is my Wednesday weight from last week. I post here on a Monday as it feels like it makes more sense for me to post at the beginning of each week.

I do have a scale at home that I weigh myself on, but I tend to just do that to make sure I'm heading in the right direction. It weighs me at about a pound and a half different from the scales at my weight loss group, so I take those ones as my official measurement as they're designed for heavier people.

I hope you all had a great week! 😊

It took a while to find this page when I couldn’t find the previous one. I’m not very good with technology. My name is Linda. I weigh 242.5 as of this morning. I need to lose 100 lbs as I’m 5’2”. I would be happy with that even though they want me to weigh 125.
I am looking forward to the continuing encouragement, tips, support, and accountability.
Thank you for creating this page.
