MY 100 POUND JOURNEY

Hello everyone…I’m Cindy, 58 years old and need to lose at least 75 lbs…the reason I say 75 is because I did MyFitnessPal 10 years ago and go down from over 300 to 247…so I definitely know my way around here but I’ve developed health problems since then and i gained all that back and more. I have really bad knees so walking for exercise is out of the question. I need to lose weight so I can get at least one knee replacement. I now weigh 324…NEVER have weighed this much. My legs hurt me really bad when I do walk or heavy house clean. I found this group of people and I’m so excited because everyone is so supportive and kind. That’s rare these days. Thanks to the one that started it!!

I weigh on Wednesdays, so it looked like 3 days, but it was really a week, haha

Welcome @HazelMayes and @MichiganPat53 👋

An interesting article. (Personally, since being retired I drink way less mugs of coffee a day, usually just one in the morning. I now drink at least one mug of green tea with lemon and ginger and a bit of honey… I also drink a wide variety of different herbal teas.)

Oh no! That’s not good. Be careful not to drink too much, or too little. ☕️
I test my urine everyday. I’m usually “light dehydrated” or “dehydrated.” 🫤
To get an accurate reading, you need to pee in a container of some kind. 🫙2 -
Hello Cindy. Welcome to MY 100 POUND JOURNEY. I have bad knees too. Can only walk very short distances without my walker, and not very far with my walker. Walking for exercise is out (until I reach 200), and will just damage my knees at this weight (300). 🚶🏽♀️

I approach "good" at around 100 ounces. But unless I'm going straight to bed, I'll drink more so electrolytes it is! My doctor reminds me to keep my electrolytes stocked lol

Hazel, you gave me an idea. 💡🤔 Maybe I should get some electrolytes too? I saw LMNT advertised on YouTube. Are those good ones? It gets very hot here in the summer where I live. Might prevent dehydration. I don’t know.1 -
I don't personally use those—the magnesium is too low for me! My magnesium is chronically low (sodium and potassium are usually fine when doc checks them) so I take supplements and when I need some electrolytes, I usually use the Prime Hydration packets.
which kind you use really depends on your needs! Some people need more sodium or potassium or calcium or one of the others.I tried different kinds to see how they make me feel. I get symptomatic when my magnesium gets too low and Prime makes me feel normal again :)

today’s weigh in-
Starting weight: 317.6lbs
Current weight: 280.2lbs
Total weight loss of 37.4lbs & I went down 4.6lbs this week!!! Finally feeling back on track after last week’s gain. I pushed myself insanely hard in the gym and tried to really watch what I ate and I feel like it paid off this week! I am so close to the 270s 🙌

Today's weigh-in is 273 lbs 🥴
I started working out quite a bit this week, so I think it's because of that. I'm sore enough to know that I'm building some muscle, so it's probably the shift from fast to muscle that's making my body say "WHOA"
I'm keeping up with my weekly appointments with my nutritionist, and I've been sticking to eating healthier options. I'm not losing anymore weight right now, but I bet a big drop is coming soon because of all the really good changes I've made.

This is interesting especially for women who have trauma or stress related hormone imbalance. Carbs are actually recommended ( in moderation) to aid in weight loss as they help the body reduce the body's natural response to changes in stress. This is why at times keto doesn't work for everyone. Who would've thought?

Hi everyone I'm just getting started. Is this where we post our weight or is there another link that I missed? Thanks.

O
I agree with you. I feel terrible without carbs. They fuel our brain and memory.

You’re doing great, Jessica. Yes. The weight loss will show up later on. Don’t worry. You’re on the right track. 👍

YAY! Jules. You’re my inspiration. At the rate you’re going, you’ll reach 200 by 2026. Can you imagine that? 💭

Amazing! Well done 👏

No weigh-in for me this week due a tummy bug knocking me on my back for a couple of days, so I'm resting up, recovering, and will be back on it soon 🤗

Actually, whenever I'm sick with stomach problems I lose weight - the only upside! - since I'm only eating broth!!!😄

hope you feel better soon!

Sorry you’re sick. A few years ago, I lost lots of weight in only 2 weeks on the Covid-19 diet, but I don’t recommend it. 🤮🤒😷2 -

Weigh-In: SATURDAY
Starting Weight: 286.2 lbs (6 / 1 / 2024)
Past Weight: 204.2 lbs
Current Weight: 200.4 lbs
Down 3.8 lbs
——————
Exercise💦: 7 hours this week
[I "worked it" this past week with cardio and portion control… plus I fasted yesterday. Today, I get to practice "mindful eating" and exercise. Let's see, I bought some protein snacks and shakes, creatine and a "squat machine" ($150 on sale) during Amazon Prime. With my MS, I felt I needed the metal frame and seat as support, around me… 😐️]

7/6: 310.4
7/12: 308.4. Hit my weekly goal for weight loss :). Hit my fiber target every day but 1! And closed all three rings 5 times. Not too shabby ;-)
Immediate goal is 1 pound a week and first "big" goal is to go below 300.
my current nutrition goal is to hit my fiber goalsmovement goal is to hit all three rings on my watch at least 3-4 times a week. It's not set terribly high but for the moment it is doable and once I can consistently hit the goals, I'll increase them :)

I have used MFP for tracking calories since 2014, but I never knew there were groups here. So excited to give this a go. My highest weight was 288. Got down to 230 and have slowly crept back up to 248. I am 70 years old. My exercise consists of lifting weights at home 4 or 5 days a week and taking 3 dogs in and out at least 10 times a day. My biggest opportunity is controling calories. Being on a fixed income puts limits on what I can afford to buy. My goal weight is a muscular 140#.

You’re almost to the under 300 club! Just try to stay consistent in movement like you have been & you’ll be there in no time! 😁 good job so far!

I was there awhile back but being injured and steroid injections and dysautonomia flares, I bounced back up. But originally I was in the 360s and still kept the bulk of it off! Now that I'm regaining some functionality, it's a bit easier to hit my goals.
