    Today’s weigh in-

    Starting weight: 317.6 lbs

    Current weight 279.8 lbs

Total weight loss of 37.8 lbs. Not a huge difference from last week, but I’m in the 270’s!

I spoke with my mom this week who has been on Ozempic for about a year now (mind you she doesn’t work out AT ALL) and she was telling me that she has almost lost 60lbs now on it- which is great, I’m glad it’s working for her! Am I a little jealous she has the miracle drug that makes you lose significant weight with no work? Absolutely!! But she then went on to tell me “Can you believe I started at 260? Ugh EW I can’t believe I was ever that fat and disgusting!!!!”

It just felt like a punch in the gut because I’m sitting there currently 20lbs OVER her ‘fat & disgusting’ weight and that’s AFTER I’ve already lost 37lbs. Ugh I guess this rant is just to get that convo off my chest because it’s been bothering me since I’ve had it.

As most fat people I’ve struggled with poor body image and it definitely doesn’t help when it gets perpetuated by your own mother. I don’t think she meant any harm-I honestly don’t think she realizes I’m bigger than that but it just sucks 😕

So all that to say- I’m hoping to work hard this week, pull some big numbers & my next goal is to be in the ‘fat & disgusting’ 260s.

Hello Bonnie. Welcome to MY 100 POUND JOURNEY. Sounds like you get enough exercise walking your dogs. 🐕 You never know, you may be surprised at how great you feel when you reach 200 and decide to stay there.

Personally, I wouldn't have been so forgiving of such a comment !!! "Fat-shaming" has no place in our society !!! That said, I don't believe in "Fat-privilege" either (example: IMHO, if you can't keep your entire self in one seat on an airplane, then make sure you ask for special accommodations with the airline in advance, even if you need to buy a second seat! I felt this way at 286 lbs, and still do at 202 lbs.) If folks are never made aware of how their comments can - inadvertently? - be hurtful for another person on their own weight-loss/wellness journey, then he/she will never "think before they open their mouths". As a daughter, you can afford to be more understanding… but I pity any other friend of your mothers' or a stranger she comes in contact with! I think we've all been in a place where such a comment has "ruined us" for the day, or perhaps led us to binge eat, as a result !!!😥 I'd also remind her that Ozempic is not a "cure-all" for obesity… w/o a wellness program of proper eating and basic fitness in place, she'll most probably gain all that weight back and then some, if she ever decides to go off the drug! (And researchers really don't know yet what the long-term effects of being on the drug does to the body)?😕

Declan, nice name. I never heard it before, so I did research on it: Declan is a popular Irish name meaning “full of goodness.” Are you Irish? ☘️

Congrats on your 5 lb weight loss last week. 👏

Don't worry Brian. You're doing GREAT! This weight loss journey has its ups and downs. It's normal. You must know that by now.

200.8 is a good place to be, in my books. I'd stay there, if I were you. 😀 👍
