Hello Monika. Hope you’re feeling better from your dental appointment and are able to eat normally now. You must weigh between 230-240 by now. 👏 Wonderful.

Hello Maranda. Welcome to MY 100 POUND JOURNEY. Those low-carb diets don’t work for me neither. I need my carbs. 🥔

My heaviest weight ever was 307lbs, dont always own that! When I started this journey I was 302lbs, started SW few weeks back after trying solo and now I'm 285 lbs. I know I have a long way to go but I need to look back occasionally to remind myself where I was. I aim for 1lb a week so summer 2026 here I come!

Got up early to do my 5k walk before it gets hot. Came home, washed the car and am now going to chill until work time.

    Weigh-In: SATURDAY

    Starting Weight: 286.2 lbs (6 / 1 / 2024)

    Past Weight: 199.8 lbs

    Current Weight: 200.6 lbs

Up 0.8 lbs (Bah, humbug !!!😒)

    ——————

    Exercise💦: 7 hours this week

[Started journaling with the OA Twelve Steps Workbook and finished the Step One questions. Been feeling like I'm "running around in circles" binge-eating a tiny bit every day (just on healthy foods, though) and my cardio routine is still not up to what it used to be, say, 2 months ago. I've always had mixed feelings about the OA program and how they view "abstinence" (and "verboten" foods in particular). BUT, after 15 months of dieting, etc. I feel like I need a new way of thinking and acting. And new "tools" in my "tool box". Fortunately, I'm not a person who gets hung up on the whole "God/Higher Power" thang!😉]

Thanks for checking in, Lisa. Unfortunately, this is a long-winded process. Mostly soft food to avoid hurting.

    I'm at 237.6 lbs. now.

You've lost 17 lbs. 👏 Is SLIMMING WORLD (SW) working well for you? Looks like it is.

Slimming World - how it works

Slimming World operates on a system called Food Optimising. This system divides food into three categories: Free Foods, Healthy Extras, and Syns.

Free Foods. These include lean meats, fish, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruits, and vegetables. You can eat these foods freely without counting or measuring.

Healthy Extras. These are foods that provide essential nutrients, such as fibre and calcium. They include whole grains, milk, and cheese, which you measure and include in your daily diet.

Syns. Short for synergy, these are foods that are higher in calories and less nutrient-dense. Each food has a Syn value, and you have a daily Syn allowance to use on treats or foods that don’t fit into the Free Foods or Healthy Extras categories.

The program encourages regular physical activity through its Body Magic initiative, which helps members gradually increase their activity levels.

Brian, sounds to me like your body is very happy at 200, and is desperately trying to hang on to every pound. Since you feel like you “need a new way of thinking and acting”, why don’t you work on keeping & maintaining 200 lbs? You probably look great just the way you are. Husky men are very attractive, and healthier too. 👏 😀 ☕️

Well, 200 lbs IF I WAS 6' might be fine… but not so much at 5'7"🤨. I agree… I've seen a number of significantly heavier men than me who look great (though I suspect they are either "big-boned" or have present (or past) history of doing manual labor, working out, or playing football/soccer/rugby !!!😲) With my MS, and using a rollator, any extra weight is too much weight still.

Positive note: I weighed myself nekkid this morning (sorry, no pics !!!😉) and now down to 198.6 lbs. So, I'm hopeful I can start looking for an apartment in "ONEderland" soon !!!🙂

Do you ever sit in the locker room before a workout just dreading to go do it? That’s how I am today. I have been sitting here the past 20 minutes working up the strength to go do my workout. It’s been a long day. I had to wake up really early to jump on a call with colleagues around the world then I was on my feet all day at work & put in a 10hr day. I’m exhausted. I would love to just go home and be a couch potato for the evening. BUT I am going to get my butt up and workout. As much as I would love to go home and be lazy I know I’ll feel terrible if I skip my workout. I am hoping it’ll feel much more rewarding going home afterwards. Plus my weigh in day is tomorrow and I am really really really hoping to have lost 2 lbs. but we shall see. I definitely won’t be losing it sitting on this bench.

I will say having a gym at work has been like one of the best things to ever happen to me. It is so much easier to make it a habit of if I don’t have to drive somewhere to access a gym!

Alright enough procrastinating. Time for a good workout 💪

    today’s weigh in:

    Starting weight: 317.6lbs

    Current weight 266.6lbs

I finally did it! This was my biggest short term goal and I finally did it!!!!! Over 50lbs lost! Ahhhh I’m so excited *happy dance*

Now I’m going on vacation in a couple weeks so I got to make sure I keep it off. I guess I should wait until after the cruise to get my reward (new shoes at 50lbs down). I don’t want to fluctuate back and then feel weird about it. 🙃 but 16 days until the cruise, I’m aiming for another 5 lbs down by then 💪

In 68 years of living, I've discovered that it's NEVER "just you"… there are always people out there who share the same habits, symptoms, opinions, hobbies, like/dislikes, ideas, illnesses, etc. out there! (Actually with A.I. and the WWW, it's becoming easier to connect, now)

  • DustyBonnie
    DustyBonnie Posts: 79 Member

Yes, so true. It seems an oddity though that the more we 'can' connect the more 'loneliness' we encounter.

I carried on reading about the night eating though and found some discussions about accepting it and adapting it. The suggestions were rather than fight it and then and hour of being awake later go eat chips, it was to have a banana, oats, bowl of nuts, whatever next to you, so if you awoke with the drive to eat and feel you absolutely cant sleep until you do (its like a powerful urge and a conviction) then you eat healthier. It has merit, so I shall try it. Also looking to stop but until then….

    Exercise💦: 5 hours this week

[Before I got on the scale - nekkid! - I figured I had gained weight again. I was shocked to see the scale "say" I "lost" 2.2 lbs since yesterday. I've come to think my scale is a "practical joker". He just LOVES to keep me guessing as to whether I've lost or I've gained !!! That said, it was a strange eating week, of just one meal a day (12 noon), with a few tiny, healthy "snacks" in the afternoon and evening. Also going to bed at 7:30-8pm and waking up between 5-6am. My exercising was down this week, which it shouldn't have been since I do feel I have more energy since starting to take Iron pills a month ago.]

Hello Dia. Welcome to MY 100 POUND JOURNEY. Happy you joined us. Enjoy the journey.

Yes. Taking off some weight will definitely relieve some pressure off your joints:

For every 1 lb you lose, it takes 4 lbs of pressure off your knees, and 6 off your hips.

This 2-minute movie proves that we’d all be vegan if we had to kill the animals ourselves. If you want to instantly become a vegan, watch this:

Powerful stuff! And correct. We are very good at denial. I once visited a farm with little ones to show them the new born lambs and calves and was struck by the irony of people petting them and then wandering off to the burger BBQ…. I have to say I am not a vegan because I eat fish and chicken, just to be honest here.

Jules, I ❤️ lemon bars too. 🍋 You must have an occasional treat. Your experience with the inconsiderate “kitten” with no headphones was hilarious 😂. You handled it well (I would have told him to put some headphones on, or turn his music off).

I’m looking forward to seeing some photos of yourself while on your Cruise, and pics of those new shoes. 🚢 👠 Congrats on your recent weight loss. 👏 😀

Today’s weigh in result - 1lb loss and I'm happy with that. I aim for 1lb a week as my steady, slow success plan. :)

    I once was: 302lbs

    On this I am: 285lbs

And for the first time my biggest (used to be most comfortable) trousers are too big. A mixed emotion. I love those trousers and woohoo! One of my clothing items is too big! Hurrah.
