I have not taken a tub bath since my late 20's. Now, I would love to take one but the idea of getting into and out of the tub is more than my poor body can do. I would probably do bodily harm trying to manipulate from sitting to getting out.

My son and his partner are taking advantage of a dog free life! On FB today he posted that they are up in Buxton, staying at a hotel. Their first port of call was the brewery. Nice to see them able to take a break.

the MS ride goes over deception pass. It’s a beautiful (hilly at some points) ride. I do it virtually now

Lisa - thank you very much!! I have some of that here and will try it. Sounds perfect. Glad to know I'm not the only one who has this problem.

Okie - yes that's true. If I'm not beating it up too badly by mowing things hidden in the weeds beneath the powerline, it should last. I whacked something hard yesterday that gave it a jolt but it kept going just fine. Thought I had all the branches cleared but things are still hiding there. I'm pretty sure it will be due for sharpening or maybe new blades after this summer.
I just put some of that rubber shelf liner on the seat per Lisa's suggestion and no slipping whatsoever. Much less expensive than a new seat too. 😁 I already had it on hand to earthquake proof some shelves.

RE: Showers
I stopped taking daily showers about four years ago, after my diagnosis. My skin and hair are so dry and our water is so hard, my skin and hair can't take it. I shower every two to three days. I use leave-on condition on my hair every day, sometimes twice a day. My hair is that dry and brittle. I also use body lotion liberally to try to keep my skin from looking like lizard skin.
But once I'm in the shower, I will turn it up and happily stay in there until the water runs cold!

Well today is dose day! Eating fairly simple, veggies and cottage cheese for lunch, dinner is my leftover protein cheesy pasta, with 3 chicken nuggets. I had an 11 oz protein shake in the morning, and then other type but still 11 oz at dinnertime. Then of course my tea in the afternoon with a protein bar.👍🏼
I splurged today and bought some really colorful crab and lobster ravioli! Also my aged cheddar, a small tub of bleu cheese crumbles and a small container of berries.
Sadly all the jars my sister gave me were over 5 years old, and most all of the sites told me they were expired. So that was disappointing. She wants the jars returned so I will just buy her new ones and have them sent to her. Most looked like it had separated, the applesauce especially.
There is one jar which is zucchini relish that is dated 2025 so I kept that.

quick note on Showers…. I stopped taking a daily shower during California's last long drought 2012-16 water was so expensive, and if you went over your allowance there were fines. So any day I was not tooo dirty I did not shower, and even when I did it was turn on water wet body and hair turn off water, lather and shampoo, turn on water rinse as quick as you could turn off water. Goal to have water running for 3-5 min. max. I also used a biodegradable soap and captured in buckets as much of the water as possible to water my yard with it.

I hate wasting food but unfortunately, dh is terrible about eating leftovers. It is a stretch to get him to eat something twice, even if it is something he likes and says it was good. Now that son isn't here most nights, I am trying to cook less. When I do cook extra, I have him stop by and pick it up. He and his girlfriend are happy to get home cooked food. We toss too much food and drives me crazy.
Add me to the list of those who put off getting in the shower but once I am in, I just want to stay. Especially with the bamboo bench we put in.
MIL is still hanging in there. This is day 8 on "death hospice"-usual is 5-7, sometimes quicker.
We are having our ladies luncheon with the ladies from church on Saturday. They are providing lunch and we all bring cookies this time. I did a bit of a short cut/cheat- I had a bunch of the sugar cookie dough packs. You just add butter and water- I added different food flavorings to each batch. Started out I was going to do one full cookie sheet with just the cookie dough topped with the raspberry jam I made last night. While making some cookies with Ezie she wanted to add strawberry flavoring- So, after she was done I started making different flavors- 5 batches - mango, strawberry, pineapple, ube, lemon. I will top the lemon with the raspberry filling.
I have all the dough made and rolled into tubes and chilling- Tomorrow I will just slice and bake them.
I don't need to take all of them so will share with dh and ds.Aqua zumba finally starting tomorrow- no class next week because of the holiday :(
@Rebecca- I have a snack for you to try. Just thought it up , tried it and even dh really likes it.
Imitation crab with furikake sprinkled on it. The pack of imitation crab I got was 4 sticks is 80cal. 6g protein.
Furikake is so great on so many things-lots of flavor but not calories. We always have "sprinkles" in different flavors on hand. Great on tomato/cucumber saladDebbie

Cloudy here, supposed to start raining soon. We will see. I put the horses out anyway. If it starts raining too much they can come in to the shelter.
I don't mind either bridges or MRIs but I did drive over a bridge once in Missouri that kind of gave me the heebie jeebies. It moved up and down in a wave pattern as you drove across. Don't know what it would be like with lots of traffic.
We have some little green tomatoes on our vines but something keeps eating the tops of the carrots. I can't see any apples either. I wonder if the deer ate too many of the buds. Blueberries are doing well but I need to use up the rest of last year's that are in the freezer.
Lanette - have you watched any of Clarkson's farm yet? DD and I will finish season 4 tonight. I want some of those electric collars that he has for his goats and one of those robot brush eaters but both are very expensive I think.
Everyone take care, Sue in WA

Worked on the stairstepper today, then went in the pool at the Y. Laid out in the sun, the pool wasn’t very refreshing even tho it rained last night.
Rosemarie – I can usually get to the gym now once a week. However, my medicare supplement pays for the gym membership.
When I went for my sleep study, having that mask over my face, I was so upset that I couldn’t breathe. But I have this thing for my CPAP that goes over the head and I just have this thing below my nose, kind of like the thing used in hospitals to give you oxygen. Now that I can handle.
Vince is feeling dizzy. He consulted Dr. Google and is convinced that it’s his sinuses affecting his ears. I’m sure we won’t go to ceramics tonight
Carol dear – I do hope your a/c gets fixed real fast. What a bummer, especially at night
Barbie – you sound so much like me regarding food. I’ll eat something that I may not be crazy about rather than throw it out. It has to be REALLY bad for me to throw it out. That is, except for desserts, etc
Flea – thank you so much for sharing your cancer story. So inspiring!
Lanette – a few time Jess has asked me how to save money. I just tell her not to eat out as much. I don’t think that has gotten thru. Maybe if they decide to stay here she’ll see. Yesterday the food diary looked different to me, too. But it’s back to normal now. Really, the new format didn’t bother me too much.
I shower almost every night if I’m working the next day or if I get sweaty. The main reason I take a shower and not a bath is because our master bath has a large walk in shower and only a jacuzzi
Jess called tonight. I confirmed with her that she would be here this weekend to get the critters. Honestly, I was surprised that she didn’t want to come here right after she came back from Myrtle Island (Tues or Wed) but asked us to keep them until Sat. A few days is fine, but I really don’t want it to turn into too much.

Hi friends.
Debbie: I developed my love of furikake during the years I lived in Hawaii. Absolutely must have it on popcorn.
Bridges and MRIs don't bother me at all. I love taking people to the Royal Gorge bridge Lisa hates:
I'm looking for partners who would be interested in walking the bridge then taking the zipline back. Carla? Tina?Kim: I also hate food waste. Living with a tenant means sharing the very limited fridge and freezer space. Everything I buy has to compliment my key food groups: salads, soups, smoothies and stir fries. I do have budget to eat out once or twice a week so that's where I get more variety.
Kylia: LOVE your kitties.
Barbie: I switched to delivery for the heavy bags of cat litter. I don't pour it into anything. Just hoist it onto a small table next to Mars' box and scoop out.
My primary care doc discussed my echocardiogram with the cardiologist. Upper right ventricle is enlarged. Why? Who knows? So, since it's likely not because of respiratory issues, next test will be for sleep apnea. They will be mailing me the test equipment and I have an online profile to complete. I welcome any wisdom from those of you who have done this before.
N and his 33 y.o. daughter are exploring Alaska this week. Train trips and cruises to see the usual natural beauty. Then, they will golf one night so they can finish their round at midnight with the sun still up. Our next date is in 33 days. I'll go east to his place in New Hampshire and from there we will take the happy hippie van to the Outlaw music festival in Saratoga Springs. Golden Goobers' 10th Date.
Last night I met a friend at a shopping mall where they sponsor live music 2x per month. It was an Eagles tribute band. So fun. Most of the audience was our demographic. Not too hot either. Nice breeze made sitting outside just perfect.
Stay well, friends. We can do this.

I have furikake in the fridge now!😁. I love it on ramen, in rice with tuna, kewpie mayo and wasabi.🤗. I usually buy crab in the glass jars, not a fan of imitation crab. But right now crab is just to rich for me. I know the crab and lobster ravioli portion is 2.5 servings but I will probably put it more toward 4 servings. Just like 4 and I will be full.

I haven't been able to take a bath at home in years because the cats have taken over most of my bathroom where the tub is. DH put a sheet of plywood over the tub and put the litter boxes on it. Way too much work to move them all of just for a bath so I settle for a shower in dh's bathroom/master bath.
I do enjoy a long bath when we go away-which sadly, we haven't done if over 5 yrs.

it depends on what is in the jars. I know we have used things past the 5yr mark that mom canned, like jams.

I need to try that on popcorn!!! I am sure I will like it. Thanks!

Showers — love them in the morning before work. A nice hot shower helps me wake up and helps ease stiff muscles and joints. On the odd occasion when I don't have a pre-work shower, I feel "off" all day.
On weekends, I'll only shower if we've got an event to go to.
The bathtub is in my husband's bathroom and contains the cardboard and paper he has shredded for the garden. I stopped taking baths at some point in my teens … except for rare occasions when I decide to take a relaxing bath. It's rarely as good as I think it will be and years will go by before I try again.
Leftovers — we make what we'll eat. There are rarely any leftovers which is good because I'm not a huge fan of leftovers unless it's one of the slow cooker curries I make with the intent of putting half of it in the freezer.
Walking — getting more in now that the van is in the shop. I like walking for errands etc., to see scenery, and just for walking's sake.
I don't have to have a reason to exercise … I enjoy exercising! I like moving.
That's probably why I can climb flights and flights and flights of cement stairs in a boring grey stairwell in my 11 storey office building. The stairwell is also the fire exit, so there isn't anything out there of any interest except maybe the occasional spider. But that doesn't matter … I'm just out there to climb. I climbed up 37 flights of 20 stairs + landings (and more going down) today. Just walking (no running) with the occasional pause for my heart rate to come down before I tackle more.
Age — I am at the younger end of the spectrum at 58 and have to keep reminding myself that there are quite a few here who are at the high end of 60, or into their 70s, or perhaps even 80s.
One of my goals right now is to go into my 60s slim and fit. I don't want to go into my 60s overweight and feeling out of shape.
At 58, I am still working full-time and am the sole wage earner in our family (my husband and me). Retirement age is 67 for people my age in Australia and at this point, I fully expect that I will continue to work until 67 or longer. Fortunately, I am a Data Analyst who likes her job … even if it gets stressful sometimes.
I am also a carer for my husband and president, communications officer and a ride organiser for the local branch of my cycling club. We are avid beekeepers and enjoy going out to concerts (mostly classical music) and plays. We've recently purchased a house and are working on the garden so that eventually we'll grow a good portion of our fruit and veg. Our orchard is in although we may add one or two more fruit trees and hopefully we'll have the rest of the garden in by the time summer rolls around in Nov/Dec.
And in between all that, I try to fit in as much exercise as I can. 😀

Morning, kids,
A teensy bit early for me, but that's OK, I've got a busy morning coming. I can always nap this afternoon if needed.
Medical stuff & such - it gets long, feel free to skip:
Spoiler Warning
First, the good news - the VA approved ordering a second pair of orthotics, and considering they would have cost me $500 had I ordered them myself, that's pretty massive. I wouldn't have ordered them at all, that kind of money is NOT in the budget, I just wouldn't have gotten them. Really pleased, because I'll be able to swap them out and get them washed more often, and they'll wear longer, too. I'm in them every waking minute, and they've made a truly amazing difference.
Next - seeing the orthopedist on Monday about the rotator cuff issue. I've been doing the PT for it at home, from a respected site called OrthoInfo - adding one exercise a day. Helping with the pain somewhat already. Cancelled my PT in Fayetteville on Wednesday. Still not up to that drive. Will talk to the orthopod about it. I tend to be a very compliant person on this subject, and genuinely don't need PT help for well-established therapies that are available to me so easily. Will save the VA some money and me some stress and aggravation.
Am seeing my gastroenterologist on the 18th of July - have pretty well decided that if he still believes I need to do the EGD, (the scope down my stomach, into my small intestine) I'm going to delay that until October. My next test and appointment with the hematologist about my iron levels is then. If they show that I'm struggling to keep my iron in normal ranges at this lower dose, then I'll schedule the EGD with him. If my levels are fine, then it is simply an unnecessary test.
The reason - if you're interested, feel free to skip - is that when you have a gastric bypass, they bypass the duodenum, at the bottom of the stomach, and that is the part of your digestive system that gets iron from your food and into your body. My gastric bypass was 20 years ago this year. Iron supplementation is a very normal part of life after gastric bypass, and not necessarily a signal of internal bleeding. I get his point - but am willing to argue it.
There are days I wish I was a hypochondriac. At least all the above things would seem normal and reasonable. Mostly, it just makes me tired. I would love to be able to say "Yes, doctor, whatever you want doctor!" I can't.
While I do believe I know more about my specific body and my specific abilities, like following PT instructions, I genuinely don't believe I know more than they do about medicine. And I am willing to try most things, including the orthotics, which have helped much more than I ever thought they would! But I'm not willing to simply go through a very invasive test or a stressful and unnecessary journey without questioning "why" or offering a reasonable alternative path.
Anyway… if you read that, you can tell why I'm up early. Buzzy brain wouldn't let me go back to sleep. This too shall pass.
Ah - There's Corey, up and starting his morning routine - he'll be heading out in about a half hour. At least now I can make noise. 😂
Off to see what today holds... Happy Friday!
Love, Lisa in AR

@LisaInArkansas … I am very glad we can pick and choose what we want to do when it comes to medical stuff these days.
When I was in my late teens/early twenties, there was still the impression/attitude that doctors were almost gods and we patients had to do what they said. Questioning the doctor was not well tolerated.
There was a very similar situation in colleges and universities between teachers and students. Students had to do what the teacher wanted. Questioning the teacher was not well tolerated.
Now, in both situations, we're customers and if we're not happy with the service being provided to us, we can speak up, question what's going on, and choose to do something else if we want.

Good morning my friends!
I am down 4.3 pounds for the week! Yay! Even though I had a cheese steak and soda last night. I know the number on the scale isn't the perfect measurement, but I do think this indicates that my plan is working.
I do need to speak up to my one friend. We have a Saturday morning ritual now at her house. She feeds us things like waffles and apple cake, which are wonderful to taste, but not on my diet. Plus then I get anxious about not returning the favor, so I bring fresh donuts which are even worse for me. Maybe I could just eat less. I don't know whether I really want to cut back, or just compensate somehow.
I'm excited about doing a stair climb challenge with my Dad. When I look it up online, I see this massive challenge about 9/11. I just figure we would climb a bit until tired and log the results to watch as they gradually go up. Maybe starting at two flights. Dad really needs some leg strength but he eats so much ice cream and cookies that I'm not sure he can build muscle.
Today's medical issue is an irritation just outside the corner of my eye. Maybe blepharitis? I'm not sure what kind of doctor would treat that. Maybe urgent care, so I can see somebody today. Any body else had that?
Kylia hummingbirds are so cool!
Heather Yay for good outings for you and your son!
Carol hope your a/c is back! I used the cold water to soak my feet, and on cold towels around my neck when mine went out years ago. Or visit the library!
Kim I hate food waste but I'm getting used to a certain level. To stick to my diet, I cook single meals for my Dad, and he often doesn't finish. Then I have fruit that goes bad. I wish I was better at it.
Rebecca you are doing so well on your food plan! Yay!
Michele Yay for stepper!
Elaine and Kimberly welcome!
Rori I had four sleep studies, all at clinics. Two found sleep apnea, two did not. I wore the CPAP for years but did not find much difference in my energy levels. So I eventually quit. I think I would sleep better if I weighed less.
And Yay for tribute bands! I love the old rock songs.
Machka Yay for 37 flights! You are awesome!
May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Good morning from the rain soaked coastal plain of the North coast of The Emerald Isle of Ireland. The rain moved in from the west late last night, bringing welcome relief from the humid heat we had been experiencing.
Yesterday’s monthly meeting was most enjoyable. Our guitar group led us in communal singing, mostly country and western songs. Then we had refreshments before watching a preview of some of the shorts our film group have produced.
I am going to card making after lunch🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.
