Off day yesterday. Just did a short walk. Forgot to record the trek. Mostly dodging cars. It was warm at 31c. Need to get a hat with better ventilation….

Running is getting slightly better again after my injury break. Wanted to run yesterday but it was 38C. Nope. Today it's quite pleasant.

I didn't make my goal of 70 miles last month, so will try that again this month since I am traveling to FL in a couple of weeks.
1 July - Walked 1.10 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Driveway - after driving home from VA
2 July - Walked 2.30 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Driveway
3 July - Walked 0.90 miles - Ran 2.40 miles - Driveway6.70/70 mile goal
Posting for the first 3 day of July. I'm trying to get caught up after the trip with mom and her two sisters.
We got back on the 1st. I did a driveway walk after picking Tippy up from boarding. She only talked to me for about 20 seconds, so maybe she wasn't too mad at me. LOL
Yesterday I did a true wun before having lunch with a couple of friends and mom and running errands.
Today, I did a driveway wun after running errands, including finally getting my new car registered. It was hot, 85F (29C), but the humidity was just 47%, so it wasn't horrible. Avg pace for the run was 13:05 min/mile. Avg HR was 137 with a max of 156 bpm. I did do a fast 0.15 mile near the end of the run, at a 9:17 min/mile pace. Splits were 13:23, 13:15, and 11:58.

Morning all.
Hello from Ubud in Bali.
I got in 3.13M at 12'10 date pace.
First run in over a week.
This place isn't at all suited to it - so got in what I could. Raining heavily; dodging traffic and run past a Monkey forest.
In the 14 days I've been gone, got in 7 workouts (5 ellipticals in hotel gyms and now 2 runs).
(Just wasn't possible in the Borneo wetlands; Kuala Lumpur after Borneo was not much better - you'd have to take a 'Grab' [SE Asian Uber] to a park; couldn't just leave hotel and run! So hotel gym-ed it there).
I liked Kuala Lumpur btw.
Old Fashioned whisky sweet 🥃 from a rooftop bar opposite the Petronas towers.
Batu Caves with 270 something steps up to the temple.
In the caves at the top
PS: @WarmJellyfish food so far.
- Singapore, 2. Indonesia, 3. Malaysian
Indo-Malay 'roti canai' was disgusting 🤢🤮
@quilteryoyo apologies. I know you've seen this on FB already! ... Hope you had a good trip too?
@ContraryMaryMary loved the Basin Reserve pics! 🤩
@Mari33a enjoy your trip
I'm a bit behind on posts so apologies if I missed anyones events or life stories

July Goal: 160 Miles
7/1: 6.52 miles
7/3: 3.30 miles
9.82/160 miles completed for July
I felt a little better today, but still not 100%, so I just ran 3.30 miles. It was really warm and humid and I was pretty tired, so I was pretty slow, but I was glad that I got out there.
@quilteryoyo Tippy looks happy to see you.
@tarun_yadavA Great photos! You have a lovely family.

7/1: 0
7/2: 4 miles

Happy 4th July to all the USA folks!
and Happy belated Canada Day to our Canadian folk!

02/07 2.52 morn & 2.66 eve miles (5.18 miles)
03/07 2.12 morn & 3.18 eve miles (5.30 milesTotal 13.90 of 70 miles
Yesterday evening's run was really windy, I felt wrecked afterwards, and it's raining heavy and stormy so far today but to clear this evening so hopefully get a run in later. And it's to be like this all weekend😫. I hate the wind.
@tarun_yadavA - Amazing photos! It looks like a holiday of a lifetime.
@quilteryoyo - Glad you had a great holiday. Glad Tippy didn't take too badly to being left at the kennels. Last year when I had to put Dakota in he was badly upset for 4-5 days after. Luckily for our holiday this time my son and daughter will be at home so his routine wont have to change too much.
7 -
Nice run, especially when you weren't feeling the best @kgirlhart .
WTG @Zaxa2021 .
Thanks @Mari33a . I used to be able to leave Tippy at my trainers house and she loved it. But, the trainer moved and now I have to board her when I can't take her with me. The place I leave her is a bit pricey, but they take good care of her and I get the pup cam so I can see what she is up too when she is in the kennel….mostly sleeping. I'm glad your son and daughter are able to take care of Dakota this time.

I should have run yesterday when I got home, but I didn't. I got home later and discovered a minor disaster in my kitchen. My dehumidifier didn't stop when it was full and there was water all over my kitchen floor. Ugh. I ended up having extra laundry to do to wash the all the towels I used to mop up the water. There wasn't enough time left really before the Blue Jays game came on and I didn't want to miss any of the game. I cannot believe they swept the Yankees to take the division lead!
I do plan to get out for a short run when I get home from work today. I hope to get up that desire to do so when I get home.

A Happy 4th of July to all our American friends!
Yesterday was supposed to do a threshold training run but had no legs. Did more like a tempo. Close but no joy. Still batting 0 for 0 in threshold training sigh. Running tired these days.
@kgirlhart @quilteryoyo @Mari33a @Zaxa2021 nice runs!
@tarun_yadavA pro tip, don't mix the curry into the roti. Use the curry as a dip ;) The monkeys are cute except when they are snarling at you…. Its been awhile since I went to Batu Caves, nice to see what's it like now. I used to go when I was a kid. It wasn't so nice then. I still remember the smell of Bat Guano. Ugh. But it was fun because it was dark then and we could play hide and seek very well. Only had a single set of stairs going up then and definitely not painted, mostly crumbly. Did you do stair repeats? 😁
5 -
Sorry about the dehumidifier @angf0679 . It's tough to come home to a minor disaster like that. I hope you get in a run today.
@WarmJellyfish You did what you could and a tempo run is definitely better than no run at all!
1 July - Walked 1.10 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Driveway - after driving home from VA
2 July - Walked 2.30 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Driveway
3 July - Walked 0.90 miles - Ran 2.40 miles - Driveway
4 July - Walked 0.90 miles - Ran 1.50 miles - Driveway9.10/70 mile goal
Did a driveway wun this morning. It was tough. The temp and humidity weren't bad, but my body just didn't want to cooperate. The run was at an avg pace of 14:01 min/mile with an avg HR of 119 and max of 136 bpm. I did a total of 2.40 miles…the 0.4 in honor of the 4th!
Race report from last week in the spoiler, if interested. I really wish they would fix it so that we could put pictures in the spoiler again!
The race was about 30 minutes from where I was staying and I was unsure of the parking situation, so I got up early enough to eat a bite, do the morning things, and get there with time to spare. My Aunt Helen graciously got up early and went with me to cheer me on.
It was a beautiful morning at the beach, but was already hot and humid when the race began at 7:15. I'm pretty sure the feels like temp was 88F (31C). I knew that my dream of a PR was NOT going to happen, but was disappointed at how slow I actually was.
I started out okay, but it got hotter and humider by the minute. I got water at the only aid station, mile marker 2, and that did me in. For some reason, I just couldn't get going after I took that sip of water. So, mile three was really slow as I walked most of it. I did manage to sprint the last 0.05 miles to the finish. That felt really great and I wasn't really huffing and puffing at the end, which made me think that I could have done better, but it sure didn't feel like it at the time.
My official time was 39:24 minutes. That was 14th out of 73 in my age group - 60-69 F. I was 563rd out of a total of 916 finishers and 254th out of 481 females…so sort of in the middle, which is normal for me. Splits were 11:24, 12:24, 14:02, and 11:57. The last 0.05 mile was at about a 7 min/mile pace.
I did take a dip in the cold ocean to cool off. That was a very nice ending to a very hot race.
Me and Aunt Helen before the race.
Racers in front of me.
Racers behind me…and my finger. LOL
Sweaty me after the race.
Early morning at the beach.
Another beach picture.

July Goal: 160 Miles
7/1: 6.52 miles
7/3: 3.30 miles
7/4: 6.02 miles
15.85/160 miles completed for July
I had the day off so I slept in, but still got out about 8:30 for a 6 mile run. It wasn't too hot, but it was very humid. It was a good run though. I saw some cute goats.
@martaindale I hope everything is OK at your hill country house.

5k at Parkrun this morning. Windy. Need sleep.

Morning all
Got in 4.24M at 10'48.
Thanks everyone for the kind words.
Happy belated Canada day & 4th July all.
In Bali. Lot of what I would describe as "insta-fakery" here. Will write more when I get a chance.
@WarmJellyfish I'm familiar with flaky roti and curry (that's originated from India). Just the Indo-Malaysian fusion (with the yellow daal and runny egg) - not too keen on. That recommended eating joint 'Mansion Tea Stall' mashed it all up.
Anyways. Indonesian food. Nasi Goreng. Yum 😋

2025 -29:45 (181.8 lbs)11 -
WOW! Congrats @chris_in_cal you have really accomplished a LOT!!!👏👏👏👏 5K in under 30 minutes and look at all that weight gone. Hope the shoulder is just temp and you don't need anything but time. I did not realize you have dropped 60 pounds this year!!!!💪💪💪
Loving all the photos from folks. Not much new here just waiting and waiting and doing my calistenics and such. We have had well over 3 in of rain and it's not stopping soon apparently. It looks like a storm stationary over us. I am not in a flooding area but this is crazy!
7 -
Nice run @yirara . I hope you get some good news from the neuromuscular doctor.
Thanks @John772016 , @Mari33a
Nice run and love the goats @kgirlhart .
Nice run @ContraryMaryMary and I feel you on the need for sleep.
Big CONGRATULATIONS @chris_in_cal ! Great improvement over the last 3 years (pace and weight)!
@SummerSkier I hope the rain stops soon. Dreary days are the pits. I also hope your foot heals soon!

I had planned on a longer run today, but plans changed and I only had time for a short treadmill walk. My cousin came over, spontaneously, from SC, and wanted to get together this afternoon. If at all possible, I make time for family, so we are meeting at 3:30. Later, mom and I are going to my Aunt's for a party - food followed by the small town 4th of July parade and fireworks.

FANTASTIC JOB @chris_in_cal with both the 5K and the amazing 60 pound weight loss! Way to go!! 🎉🎉🎉

July Goal: 160 Miles
7/1: 6.52 miles
7/3: 3.30 miles
7/4: 6.02 miles
7/5: 10.12 miles
25.97/160 miles completed for July
The weather was good this morning and the forecast was calling for scattered thunderstorms tomorrow morning, so I did my long run today. I ran 10 miles. It was humid, but the breeze helped. I'm planning to take a rest day tomorrow even if it doesn't storm.
I am way north of all of the flooding in Texas. I hope you are still safe from the flooding @SummerSkier . I heard there was flooding in Travis County this morning. We lived in Kerrville in the early 90's. It is so sad to see all the footage of the flooding.
Great job on the 5K and the weight loss @chris_in_cal !
6 -
7/2: 4 miles
7/3: 3 miles
7/5: 6 milesTotal: 13/100 miles
All treadmill runs.
I was really dragging yesterday, so I ended up skipping my run. In retrospect, I kind of wish I ran a couple easy miles anyway, just to get in the habit of being more consistent. A work in progress, for sure.
Tonight's run felt great, I only wish I had a little more time to run more.
5 -
I ran 1.92M at 14'21.
I am back on the Garmin ecosystem, with a Forerunner 265s.
My year with a Pixel Watch 3 was an adventure. It's a really nice watch that I like a lot. And it makes my whole day pretty easy with alarms, and it plays my music and podcasts. The weightlifting app it has "HEVY" is fantastic, lastly it's okay for running.
It uses the Fitbit app for its data and It just doesn't have good training plans, workouts, etc. for athletes. It's a better quality watch than the Garmin, it just doesn't have all the Garmin Connect app stuff I use. I am conflicted....and I don't want two watches, so I made the decision.
I am excited to try the "Garmin Run Coach" which supposedly adapts based on training levels, sleep, stress, etc. and gives daily structured runs and strength training. We'll see how it goes.

Hi everyone!
I am now ready to make my first July post. I’m again aiming for 270. Probably not realistic, as I’m heading for New York in a little over a week. I am planning on running (and doing a 5k) while I’m there.
1.7. 10.3k treadmill
2.7 1.2k + 5.3k City Race! It was soooo hot 🔥. I ran with an ice cube filled scarf in to keep my neck a bit cool. Many people who had entered decided against running (including my kids), and 3 runners were hospitalised, despite the organisers adding more water stations and sprinklers. I felt ok, but was afraid to give 💯 % and risk overheating, so I was a bit slower than last year. It was still “fun-ish”.
3.7 rest day.
4.7 9.2k easy run partly on a new route. 5.7 run #1 6.1k during son’s swim class; run #2 8.5k just because…
40.6/270km for July6 -
Nice running @kgirlhart . I'm glad you are not in the middle of the floods. Those kids getting swept away is so sad.
You're doing great @Zaxa2021 . You're post reminded me of the saying that the only run you regret is the one you don't do.
Good luck with the Garmin Coach @chris_in_cal . Are you training for a particular race?
You're doing great @Laurz9191 . I'm glad you had that ice filled scarf and took it easy, and still had a "fun-ish" race. Good luck with your New York 5K. You might want to take that scarf with you. 😉
3 -
@chris_in_cal I use the Garmin Coach. It adapts to your conditions. It does provide some challenging training runs which i think its a good thing. Beginning to find some apps in IQ connect to helps bridge some missing stuff for me.
@Laurz9191 yea heat is such a downer. Good you did it tho.
@tarun_yadavA have to love fusion
Thoughts to all affected by the rains and flooding.
Did a longer run yesterday. Slow af, took forever but I'm not 20 anymore. I think what's been missing is advil, magic…. 😂7 -

Odd weather: fresh, and very windy. Was supposed to run 15 minutes faster according to my programme after a warmup. I thought: it's too early to do that. Turns out I managed.
