Posting two workouts.
I worked for 5.5 hours yesterday, got a hair cut, had a meeting with my pastor, came home, and did a driveway walk before heading to Wed night Bible study with mom. I didn't have time for any more and I didn't want to sweat much so I wouldn't have to take a shower. Even though it was 90F (32C), mission accomplished on not too much sweat.
Today, I worked 8 hours at daycare, came home, and went out for a driveway wun. I wasn't planning on doing more than 1.50 miles at a slow pace without much running, because I've just felt "off" today and didn't want to overdo. But, once I got going, it wasn't too bad…and was cooler at 86F (30C). Mile two and the next 0.3 was fast enough to call a run. For that bit the avg pace was 13:23 min/mile. The last 0.30 miles was at 11:33 min/mile.

HR zones are interesting to me. I get zero credit for walking and I set mine on fitbit pretty low. But….. I have gotten into the 190's previously when sprinting which sounds dangerous but the recovery rate was good. I think you have to look at the whole picture also. My fitbit is now giving me warnings that my mile runs are over training because it reset from earlier this year when I was averaging 7. Hahahahaha. Also at one point my tech told me my recoveries were NOT as good. Instead of droppong 30-35 in the first couple minutes it was only in the 20's I think. but when I looked harder at the data I saw that was because my avg HR for the run was a lot lowers. Instead of 150's it was 130's… duh. Anyway, I like the data but I have to go with how I feel usually or try to understand the data better.

Nice run @tarun_yadavA . By now, you're probably home. I hope you had a great flight.
Great running @kgirlhart . I hope you are still liking your new job.

Love this group! So much help. Nice runs everyone.
@chris_in_cal Ooooo new insight. Cool. I have mine set to 8, which is probably right.
@ContraryMaryMary @quilteryoyo @SummerSkier lol been wanting to throw up a few runs trying to reach that mythical threshold. I'm 60 (ugh) so according to some formulas my TH is about 150 using HRR reserve calculations (max 167ish Tanaka formula). Tried a field test for max HR yesterday, so far I'm tapping out at about 160, depending on which side of the bed my sleep apnea went. Need to do a few more to confirm. I've reset everything on garmin and lets see what this brings
The one nice thing about garmin is that it auto detects your performance and adjusts max HR and zones accordingly. It inched it up from 180 to 187 on the old data so I must be doing something right 😝

I'm usually not thinking about my HR much, many people do though.
If it is particularly important I understand a chest ecg heart rate strap (Like Polar H10) are significantly more accurate than a watch-based optical HR…the ecg straps are considered 'accurate' and watches are approximations. It might be interesting.

Mine was a six and I moved it down to five. I'll report back if I notice any differences.

Hi All! Back from Alaska. It was a great trip (especially coming from Texas in July)! Our flight(s) home were awful though, and we didn't get home unit 3am. And I of course I cause some kind of bug either on the ship or airport/airplane. So I'm feeling like 💩.
@AlphaHowls very sorry to hear your mom passed. You were a devoted daughter and you can feel good knowing you did the best you could to care for her all these years.
@tarun_yadavA I'm glad you all had a great trip too. Love the pics.
Here are just a few pics of our trip:
Obligatory Formal Night
Sealions basking on the rocks
This was about as close to a glacier that we got. Rather disappointing.

It was a hot one again today. Mom had an eye doctor appointment this morning and then we did some shopping afterwards.
Mom has had elevated pressure in one of her eyes for a couple of years now. She has been taking PreserVision vitamins and using some sort of eye drops her optometrist prescribed. The numbers were better at her last exam. Today, she was amazed with her exam and numbers and said that mom is "aging backwards." The pressure is both eyes is normal. Very happy with these results.
I went out to mow my lawn after we got home. I thought about waiting, but they were calling for storms in a couple of hours and I really needed to get it done. It never did rain, but the yard looks better. It was 83F (28C) and 66% humidity for a feels like of 87F (30.5C).
Since I was already nasty and sweaty, I went ahead and did a driveway wun. By then, it was 88F (31C) and 55% humidity, for a feels like of 93F (34C). So, I mostly walked. The runs were almost all in the shade and downhill. Avg pace was 14:45 min/mile.

Is anyone else having issues with Strava? I just went over and thought I was liking and commenting and then realized it isn't letting me do either one tonight.

Morning all.
Back in England.
Got in 5.0M at 10'53.
@Scott6255 lovely pics!
Sorry to hear that the glacier excursion was a bit disappointing.
Is that your son and his fiancée, or your son and daughter, or daughter and her significant other?
(I have a cruise with my in-laws later this year. God help me!)
@quilteryoyo glad to hear your mother's eyesight is good!
Anyone seen or heard from @daria0919 ? Hope all ok
4 -
Glad you made it home safe and sound @tarun_yadavA . Great run. I have not heard from @daria0919 . I just looked on Strava and she hasn't had any activity in 4 weeks. 😯 I hope she is okay too.

Here I am, hanging on, tying a knot in my rope. I am overwhelmed and tired. My siblings, brother and sister, arrived and today we make the final trek to the family plot 90 miles from here, where she was born and raised. I have entered that numb space of grief that protects the body and mind from raw emotions. I want to lay on the floor and wail. For those who have gotten to know me over the years, my Mom is my everything. I moved in with her 25 years ago and we have taken care of each other. I have been her caregiver since 2007 after a traumatic accident. She is my best friend and I love her very much.
I will be back to group soon. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

My kids are spending the weekend with my mom so I was able to do a morning run without time restraints. I struggled through the last couple of miles, but it was better than the last time I attempted a 10 mile run. I'm happy with the progress I'm making.

A very hot run today & it felt great. I set off telling myself if I overheat I’ll just do 1-2 miles & try again later. But it went great. I feel I cheated though because there was a good breeze most of the time. I think it was between 28-30 c which is very unusual for here. It give me hope I will be able to run in Marseille around the pier at end of month.

Did a lsd this morning. More like a shuffle. Need to fine tune the hr zones.

Big hugs and lots of prayers @AlphaHowls .
I knew you could do it @angf0679 . Great run.
Very nice @Zaxa2021 . It's great when you can tell you are making progress.
Nice hot run @Mari33a . Not cheating at all and I hope there is a nice breeze when you run in Marseille.
Nice running @WarmJellyfish .

Mom and I went to our first ever estate auction this morning. The estate has a LOT of household goods they are selling….3 different auction dates for that and then selling the farm. I hadn't planned on staying over a couple of hours, but mom was really enjoying it (and I liked it more than I expected I would), so we stayed until they quit at around 3:30. I was outbid on everything I wanted, except for a box of cook books, which I got for $5.
Anyway, that's my excuse for not having a lot of time or energy for exercise. I was also done with the heat by then, so I walked on the treadmill today.

July total: 26.3 miles
YTD: 498.1 miles
7/1: 3 miles
7/6: 3 miles
7/9: 5.2 miles
7/10: 3 miles
7/11: 4 miles
7/12: 8.1 miles
Logging 3 runs. I went back to the hill country this weekend to do some weeding and make up for lost days due to the storms last weekend.
This morning I did my long run. 10 miles on the hills. I was surprised I did pretty well on the hills after not running on them for a while. Like @kgirlhart mentioned it's warm because its July but hasn't been as hot as it was last year. After I got back, showered, and ate I pulled weeds for a couple of hours before retreating indoors for the heat of the day hit and I lost my shade. I went back out for a couple more hours of weeding in the evening. Things are finally looking under control. Not totally done but a lot better.

Morning all
Got in 5.0M at 11'03.
Gonna slowly TRY and get back into the swing of things.
Have four off-days over the next three weeks, which were long ago pencilled in.
Friend's birthday today though. He moved it to a Sunday afternoon one just for me too as I was away. Urgh.
(Really could do without!)
And I got a guy's thing (live in person sports) for the next three Saturdays too (boxing, cricket and cricket) - so those will be messy. But first three weeks of Aug should be all clear.

Well I am guessing looking at the radar that today will be a rest day but I am going to sneak a rainy mile in this morning to keep the streak up. I have been trying to add a little walking the past few days as well and I am really surprised at how important what shoe I wear is turning out to be for this injury. It was SO humid and hot yesterday morning that my HR was very elevated during my run - I was surprised at one point to look down and see 190 (yes with my chest strap) alth my fitbit had 175 I think. ANyway I did not FEEL like i was about to die so I just backed off a little for the sake of sanity. Its not the first time it has gotten that high but VO2max fitness told me I suck still.
@quilteryoyo I don't think I am an auction kind of person. I think if i wanted something it would drive me crazy having to "bid" on it.
@tarun_yadavA have you ever thought about just enjoying the guy's company without over doing it to the point you feel nasty? I feel like I might have said this before.
@Scott6255 I hope you feel better soon. Enjoyed those cruise photos a Lot!
@martaindale looks like we are getting more rain again today esp in the hill country. Pretty interesting July for Tx. I agree it is not as horrific as it has been in the past in the 100's but the humidity is rough. Good opportunity to pull weeds tho. Great long run!
@AlphaHowls hng in there. Grief is difficult. I did not realize you had been your Mom's primary caretaker for that long. WOW. that is love for sure. 😍😍 How difficult to watch her decline these past few years. Well not difficult but UNBEARABLE I guess. 🥹
