Did a wun after I got checked into the hotel in SC. Garmin showed 79F (26C) and 100% humidity, but my phone said it was 83F (28C) with a feels like of 96F (36C). I think the phone got it right this time - at least from the way it felt!
I mostly ran for a count of 100 and walked for a count of 80 - 100, depending on how I felt. Avg pace was 12:25 min/mile. Avg HR was 142 with a max of 161 bpm. I walked the last 0.35 miles to cool down. The best thing I can say about this one was that it wasn't rainingβ¦even though I think rain would have cooled things off a bit.

I ran 3.30M at 11'40 after work this evening.

Morning all.
Got in 5.5M at 11'06

I am a step counter. I admit it! I do it all the time in my head.
Dr appt went well. He did not think I needed to see an ortho or get xrays at this time. It's even hard to see any swelling at all anymore so he was actually looking at the wrong foot at first. LOL. Anyway we looked at his little foot mock up model and decided from the place it hurts with weight where I injured it just for knowledge. Tincture of time. In the meantime I feel like my fitness has decreased drastically so quickly it is scary. But I am determined β¦..π€¨π§πͺ

I did 5 miles last night. I'm a little behind on my runs for the month. I've been feeling especially drained lately, so it's been very easy to choose the couch and going to bed early over going to the gym to run. But I haven't given up yet, I think I can still meet my goal of 100 miles this month. It'll be a push, though.
7 -
@SummerSkier Sounds like good progress! With no setbacks you'll be back top of game soon.
3 -
@quilteryoyo ugh those conditions are hard to run in. Good job still.
@SummerSkier I only step count when I'm and my gps is dead. Ranger beads are useful! and good news on the foot!
@John772016 that's good news!
@Zaxa2021 good runs! You can do it! πͺ
Did an 6.8k "easy" run yesterday as prescribed by garmin. Supposed to be in zone 3 HR but spent as much time in zone 4 ππ. Had to walk some to get it back down to z3. Weather was nice and breezy. Threshold run this evening yay! π This is really helping me get faster. I'm sooooo slow these days. Should change my moniker to WarmTortoise π’. Currently re-contemplating life plans and races. I'm danged far behind on my mileage compared to last year. Basically 9 weeks off and started all over. Gained a bunch of weight too π sigh. Me and food ποΈ. Need to rethink plans. Haven't actually signed up for anything yet. Lets see.
Weekly mileage totals. Trying to decide if it's worth paying for strava tooβ¦π

I'm posting two runs today. Yesterday I ran 6 easy miles. It was warm, but it was a good run.
Today I ran 6 miles again, but I did a fartlek run, so I was quite a bit speedier than usual. It was a fun run too. I have been trying to add in more speedwork this year and I have been a little surprised at how much I enjoy it.
7 -
Look at you getting all speedy @chris_in_cal !
@SummerSkier I'm glad the doctor didn't think you needed an x-ray. I hope a little bit more time and you will be back to normal. Did he say it was okay to run? Fitness is like weightβ¦.it goes in the wrong direction so fast and the right direction so slow. You are very consistent. I'm sure you'll get it back quickly once you can do what you want to without pain.
You can do it @Zaxa2021 !
Hang in there @WarmJellyfish . Looks like you're doing better lately. BTW, is a jellyfish really much faster than a tortoise? π€£π€·
Great running @kgirlhart . I love doing fartleks. I should do them more oftenβ¦..or maybe I just love "saying" fartleks. π€£
You are doing great and so consistent @tarun_yadavA .

I walked a mile after I got to the BNB in FL and before I went to see family for a couple of hours. After I got back, I took Tippy for a walk, hoping for a fast mile. But, she gave out after 0.30 miles, so I let her do the rest of the walk at her pace. It was 86F (30C), feels like 97F (36C). I'm hoping for some beach time in the morning.

Getting into a good routine, although this week was a bit of a slogβ¦glad my workouts are not intimidating and I can convince myself to do them even if I am tired. Neck and back are flaring up so that is adding some extra demotivation.
We got our Oura rings and wore them for the first time last night so no real data yet. I can't wear it during the day until I get an approval letter from my employer. But last night was interesting, 4 breathing disturbances with an o2 avg of 95%. Also took me 1 hour to fall asleep so might be why I am grogy since even though I am in bed for 8.5 hours, I am not getting that much.
Have a great weekend!
6 -
Cool. Please keep giving your observations on the Oura ring.
FYI: I started Garmin again about two weeks ago and in learning about it some of their metrics take up to three weeks before it gets enough data to make suggestions or calculate patterns. One example is mine reports heart rate variability (HRV) but they say it will need 21-days of readings before it can report any meaningful changes.
There are one time bits that are interesting, but some of it might come from doing comparisons with long term trendsβ¦.the readings you see might become more meaningful with regular use for awhile.

Today I rushed to Ikea during lunch break, bought a small kitchen cabinet, dragged it up to my flat (no lift) and built it. My muscles are not happy. Still I went out to run. I find that if I vary speed, and hence muscle use I do better than when doing totally steady state. Hence repeated the last run.

Nice runs everyone! Liked my way through updates but didn't have a lot of time to comment.
Glad your Dr appointment went well @SummerSkier!'Me and food' - @WarmJellyfish, I usually gain weight pretty quickly when I cannot run due to injuries, or whatever; think I'm up 8lbs atm just based on all my 'off' days this month. I'm sure you'll be good once your back at it!
Done with my medical appointments/treatments for the month, other than a couple more days of physio. As both the air quality & the humidity levels have vastly improved, I'll hopefully get some good long runs in the rest of the month.
Posting 3 days.

Yesterday was threshold run day and yay! Finally bagged one after adjusting the HR zone back from being a teenager. Still struggle to get the HR up to Z5+ tho. Always run out of air.
Was supposed to do a 15min x5minrecov x2 threshold, but it didn't like the metrics it saw and switched it to a 7x2x3 threshold instead, overall less time to be done. Tried to see how high I could get it to go, only touched 162 before I tapped out. Need more lungs. My VO2Max is very laughable.
@CMorning99 @chris_in_cal Love my garmin! And it's metrics.
What I find fascinating it's how it measures my sleep. Had a sleep score of 62. Ugh. At least I got some REM time in. I'm measuring a 93% SpO2 average and lowest SpO2 seen was 83% so some apnea is present (brain fog and day time fatigue). I noticed compared to my med grade pulse oximeter's continous measurements during sleep (measured 86% lowest), garmin tends to be lower in readings for SpO2. I got to sleep in today yay.
Garmin sleep pattern. Now about that waking bit (tall pink column), awake for 40 mins! Never fails. No wonder my sleep score of 62 is lower than I like. That whole needing to go to the bathroom thing and then being chased by the bunny because it wants to play. I'm also a super light sleeper apparently. Too much time being conditioned to wake at the slightest noiseβ¦.π
6 -
Nice running @chris_in_cal .
Thanks @tarun_yadavA . Another great run for you.
Yeah @CMorning99 . Getting into a routine is the best thing to keep you going. Sounds like the oura ring is doing good. I'm with you sleep wise. I'm in bed long enough, but often don't get that much sleep, or even if I do, it's interrupted a lot.
Nice run @yirara . I'm glad you are figuring out what works for you.
@John772016 Sorry you had a rough run todayβ¦good to listen to your body though. I hope things work out for some longer runs next week.
Great running @WarmJellyfish . I quit measuring my O2 levels at night. It just used up too much battery power and I'm not sure it was very accurate because I can't have it tight enough and sleep. LOL But, I think it does everything else pretty well, most of the time. I didn't sleep very well at all last night. Below is my graphic. My score was 32.

I got Tippy to go for a fast mile walk this morningβ¦15:42 min/mile. After we finished, I went back out and ran a mile plus 0.25 miles for cool down. The run was a 12:27 min/mile pace. Avg HR was 139 with a max of 154 bpm. According to my phone, it was 83F (28C), feels like 94F (34C) when I got done at 8:30 am! Shade and a sea breeze helped.
After breakfast Tippy and I went for a walk on the beach and did the same after I got back from the family visit this evening. She still won't get in the water, but at least this trip she isn't barking at the waves. LOL
6 -
Well I might make 50 miles this month! Great Tippy adventure @quilteryoyo I think it's funny she was barking at the waves.
I took a very easy day yesterday. Ran a mile slowly and then took excedrin and basically sat around the rest of the day. The tennis thurs really wiped my out but I think it is good for me to get back to some more things even if I need to take more recovery days right not.
John and Jelly, I think in the 50 days since my injury I have gained about 4 pounds which does not sound like much but it's very difficult to shake and "stop the gain" and eat less when my exercise is limited. However the big thing for me is that I am keeping track and staying aware so that it's not one of those "forgit about it!" type things until all of a sudden it's 20 pounds.
5 -
Morning all - afternoon even!
Got in 5.75M at 10'57. From super hot yesterday to torrential downpour today!
@SummerSkier sorry about the four pounds π. Sound like me from earlier this year when I wasn't running. Lousy bike and rower; and being super crabby all the time from not being to eat normally!
Out with the guys night. Wembley stadium for the heavyweight boxing.
@SummerSkier gonna try Jack+Diet cokes today instead of beer. 'double' pour = 80 calories, versus ~225 calories. Times that by say, 6...
Have got myself a veggie pizza too at home in fridge. Will TRY to make it back and eat that (followed by an ice cream of course). Not healthy by any means, of course, but at 900 calories (excluding ice cream) - sure as hell less calorific than Big Mac and nuggets, or Doner kebab and fries with mayo!

I forgot to post yesterday, but I did a 6.5 mile interval run. I hit all the paces. I was a little faster on some if them. I never really know if that us good or not. Today will be a rest day and tomorrow will be a long run. It has been hotter this week and I am really going to have to get out early to beat the heat. It isn't that hard for me to get up early to run before work, but it is so much harder to get up early on the weekends.
@SummerSkier I am glad your foot is improving
@quilteryoyo It looks like Tippy is having fun.
5 -
So, my posts keep getting flagged for approval. π
6 -
that is because you have TOO much mileage and the powers that be thing you MUST be making it all up? π€¨ππ³π€·ββοΈ
4 -
Where does one find the will power to avoid Doner kebab and fries with mayo, and instead opt for frozen pizza after six Jack 'n Cokes. You are a marvel.
3 -
Nice runs @WarmJellyfish, @quilteryoyo, @SummerSkier, @tarun_yadavA, @kgirlhart & I'll assume @AlphaHowls (once it gets approved π)
Tippy has one of those, 'I'm going to get those waves, just gonna let them think I don't see them' smiles, @quilteryoyo!Pretty sure after 6 'double pour' J & C's, I'd eat the box the frozen pizza came in.

I had to cut Wednesdayβs run short because of thunder & lightning. Dakota found 2days run too much so brought him back & went back out, and got caught in another thunder plump. The rain was so heavy.
5 -
Last we had a wild thunderstorm come through. Quite the lightning show. My friend measured 2" of rain. So this morning, I had to go for a trail run. 14k. Muddingly splashingly fun. A bit draggy running wet trails still fun. Saw a bunch of deer. Then I had the bejeezus scared out of me by a dinosaur. I literally jumped and squealed. I suddenly heard rustling right next to me and when I turned and looked, I got hissed at really loudly.
And then I started laughing.
Thought I saw this hisser. Squealed and jumped.
Then realised it was her, shoulda seen her frontal frills. πππ«©π¬π³π€£
