Nice running and weeding @martaindale . I'm glad the TX weather isn't unbearable yet.

You're doing great @tarun_yadavA . Sounds like a full schedule for the rest of July! Enjoy all the activities!

You are doing great to keep the streak up @SummerSkier . I guess by now you have figured out which shoes to wear and which ones to let rest a bit. Hang in there and hopefully you will be back to normal in Aug.

Sorry about your toe @John772016 . I hope it is better after a few days of rest.

    Great run @chris_in_cal .

It isn't crowded when I go but there are def some popular machines..and so annoying when people just sit there on them and play on their phones while they "rest".

Oh yeah. As a certified grumpy old dude, I pompously sneer at people who hold their phones in their hands throughout their workout in the gym. (Sorry, I feel this way about carrying a phone on a run too) I happily (and pompously) track my workouts on my watch. Seeing them focused on their phones in the gym both makes me frustrated and a bit sad for humanity. There are worse things someone could do, but in those moments all I can think is that those "rest sitting on a machine while doomscrolling" people are inconsiderate.

But @CMorning99 as a pretty new gym user, it is a skill to learn how to remain flexible in my workout plan by moving some exercise up in the routine and moving the other one back until a machine is available.

    05.07 strength
    06.07 3.3km 25min 7:35/min - 15 minutes fast

Meh, got sick again. Tried running a few days again, and was totally wasted after 1km. Managed to drag myself to 3km, and then dragged myself home. Round of antibiotics, and I'm better again. Way behind now though.

I didn't run yesterday due to lack of motivation to do anything. Today my lower back is screaming at me. I don't know what did to it. Running today might not happen again for that reason.

@chris_in_cal From what I read about the Oura vs Garmin is that Oura is like having a life couch while Garmin is like a fitness coach. I think the Oura would work for me now as I crawl back out of the hole I have dug for myself.

Thanks @chris_in_cal, @quilteryoyo, @kgirlhart, @SummerSkier, & @WarmJellyfish, the toe is doing better after many rest days.

Pretty sure it was some sort of muscle strain. The digging in on hills I was doing, trying to improve my hill work, & the older shoes, that likely need to be retired, probably just aggravated the strain. I didn't actually have most symptoms of gout & don't actually eat that many foods that would contribute to it so don't think that was the culprit. At any rate, I gave it 5 days and seems to be better which I'm happy about.

    Nice runs @chris_in_cal, @quilteryoyo, @kgirlhart, @tarun_yadavA, @SummerSkier, @CMorning99, @WarmJellyfish, @yirara & @martaindale!

Hope your back is feeling better soon @angf0679!

    Posting 2 days.
    July:

    01/07 - 5.00km / 3.11 miles
    02/07 - 0km
    03/07 - 12.56km / 7.80 miles
    04/07 - 7.40km / 4.60 miles
    05/07 - 0km
    06/07 - 6.53km / 4.06 miles
    07/07 - 0km
    08/07 - 0km
    09/07 - 7.31km / 4.54 miles
    10/07, 11/07, 12/07, 13/07, & 14/07 - 0km
    15/07 - 6.63km / 4.12 miles

    Total = 45.43km / 28.23 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)

Took another rest day yesterday, technically for letting the toe relax, but honestly the air quality was up there with as the worst in the world due to the smoke from wildfires in Northern Ontario hanging over the city. When I was breathing heavy & my eyes were burning a bit, just while I was watering my plants on my balcony, pretty sure 'trying out a run' wasn't a good idea, so didn't.

Today, we moved down on the worst air quality list , so thought I'd try a run. The air quality didn't seem too bad to me, but it was humid! Felt like 33⁰ C while I was running this morning, supposed to once again feel like 40⁰ C' this afternoon.

Still need to find the 'sweet spot' this summer - the run early enough to 'not be too hot yet' but late enough to 'not be in the city rush hour' where I'm dodging cars that aren't bothering to look for pedestrians.

@CMorning99 You did great last week! Keep it up! I like the gym machines, but you are right, sometimes they are taken and then you just have to move on and go to something else. You're weather sounds great to me. I think it is all in what you get used to. Post a picture of the trunk. I'd love to see it.

You're doing great @WarmJellyfish . No harm in walking when it is that hot and/or you are in pain. 😉

Glad you are feeling better @yirara .

Sounds like great weather @kgirlhart .

That looks pretty fast to me @chris_in_cal . Are you following another plan?

I hope your back feels better @angf0679 .

    Nice runs @martaindale .

@John772016 I'm glad that resting is all that your toe needed. Good choice to not run in those conditions yesterday. With that air quality, you would have probably done more harm to your health than good.

My back (so far) isn't aching today. I just feel a little stiff. I have little time to run on Wednesdays but hope tomorrow.

@chris_in_cal I've seen those adaptive plans, but never tried one. You'll have to let us know how it goes. The race training plans are supposed to be "adaptive" too, but I don't really think they are.

    You did great @kgirlhart .

@SummerSkier Heading to FL for a family get-together. No 5K this time. I hope the doctor gives you some sound advice and that your foot gets back to normal soon.

Hopefully your back will be better tomorrow and you'll have a great run @angf0679 !

Well, this went very good! Did 10 intervals of 20s fast, 40s slow after warmup. Perfect weather: not too warm, not too much wind. Was good fun.
