@200Karen , great to hear of your ongoing recovery! Walking is awesome. I enjoy it alot. U are amazing by doing all you can to improve your health.
I followed your example of getting medical care. I put it off for years(of going to the dr). After taking hubby to multiple appts I just didn't have it in me for getting something done for me. I have 2 tests left to do this week, mamo and bone density.. only issue so for is cholesterol, its borderline so I need to bring it down in the next 3 months and go in for another test, if it does't change its med time.anybody have ideas on getting cholesterol down?

My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5β 5β tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018). I weigh weekly but also on the 1st and last day of each month for a full monthβs account.

CHALLENGE STARTING WEIGHT (FROM July 31st): 189.0
CHALLENGE TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Total Loss of 9.2 lbs to land at 179.8
CHALLENGE ENDING WEIGHT: xxxxx
TOTAL LOST IN THIS CHALLENGE: xxxxx
πππππULTIMATE GOAL: 145-155 (Iβll know when I get there!)
I AM TRYING SOMETHING LATELY. MY GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE WILL BE 0.1 lbs PER DAY. THAT WILL USUALLY COME TO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 9 AND 10 LBS TOTAL LOST MOST CHALLENGES. IT WILL BE DIFFICULT BUT I DONβT FEEL IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK, EVEN GIVEN MY AGE, MY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT SET ME BACK AND MY MEDICATIONS. IF I GET BEHIND ON ANY GIVEN DAY, WEEK OR MONTH, IβVE ONLY MADE IT HARDER ON MYSELF AS I HAVE TO THEN CATCH UP. THE SPECIFIC GOALS NUMBERS MAY CHANGE AS I GO ALONG ONLY TO KEEP IN LINE WITH MY GRAND TOTAL LOSS GOAL. IN THE END IT SHOULD BE EQUAL TO 0.1 LB PER DAY OR MORE. I KNOW ITβS A MIND GAME IβM PLAYING WITH MYSELF, BUT IT ALSO FEELS LIKE IβM NOT BITING OFF MORE THAN I CAN CHEW. LETβS SEE HOW THIS GOES!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

10/07 β 184.8 β (Trend Weight β 184.7) Iβm in a real slump. Handyman is finally coming back today to hopefully start or plan a new project. Trying to pull it together here. Iβve been so busy between yard work and babysitting that the house is a mess and I have no energy to change that. Iβm usually pretty tidy and organized so this is uncharacteristic of me. Itβs probably crash & burn sugar responses with those foods I am not even supposed to eat. Standing in my truth today no matter how difficult the reflection is.
πππππ 10/14 -- 181.4 β (Trend Weight: 183.7) I've had a pretty good week that allowed me to string several days together so I could get some progress going. Tomorrow will be disruptive as I have to travel which means lots of sitting and of course, at least one restaurant meal. But I will be back home for the rest of the week and should be able to offset that. It may take several days because, as we all know, it comes on quickly in one day and takes several days to come off. However, it is very do-able. I am staying positive and will try hard to be mindful on my day trip. I'm not going to lie though. I'm looking forward to some flavorful and decadent food.

GW 185 lbs
Wow so many interesting posting with alot of insight. I am glad I took the time to read. August 6th 195lbs, August 14th 197 lbs, August 16th 195 lbs
Ok moving back to thecright direction
August 20th 195lbs I had a 24 hour time frame where I gained 7lbs & then lost it. I almost ran out to the variety store to buy a bag of potato chips plus dip. But I hanged on.
August 27th 195lbs. I have been hovering around this weight. I had a few days weighing less. So just keep working on it. Watching my intake.
September 3rd 194.5 lbs A small victory. My 7 day trend is 194.5. I have started to pay more attention to processed carbs. My emotional go to. Feel alone taking care of my dad with Parkinsons with dementia. No sibling support. Thank God for my husband.
September 10th 198 lbs My 7 day trend is 195.2 lbs. Very emotional right now so I head to the fridge & cupboards. Back on track today.
September 17th 195 lbs My 7 day trend is 195.4 lbs. Had a couple of days where I gained quite a bit. Logging my foods. Trying to get in the right place.
September 24th 194.2 lbs 7 day trend 195 lbs. I just read all the posts and quite motivating and informative. Not much to add because it looks like it has been touched upon. The love of chips..mine is Bettermade, to ordering salad. We have our sabatoges. We got this.
October 1st, 2025 195 lbs⦠I just can't get away from this number. My 7 day trend though is 194.7 lbs. There has been a lot of reflection this month. I have been taking a course for caregivers that take care of family with dementia called Coping with Change. We know caregivers' life change due to taking care of their loved one. I used to be very active at the gym, then couldn't fit this in so started walking on the treadmill at home and now this has taken a back seat. One of the homework assignments is trying to get back to do the things that bring joy in your life and exercising was one of mine. So I decided I am going to do my hardest to bring this back into my life evern if it for 10 to 15 minutes. Enough of my reflection. Thanks everyone for your post they are motivating.
October 8th: 196lbs My 7 day trend weight was 197.3 lbs. Terrible week.
October 15th: 194 lbs My 7 day trend 195.1 lbs.

PORTION CONTROL is everything!!
Like my old boyfriend used today "there's more where that came from"βΊοΈ
And then If you order a to go box when you order the food like @SunnyDays930 says, it'll be there for you later.
If you're as old as I am you remember when they called them "doggie bags". Hmmmmmm. There's a lot to that phrase "doggie bags"β¦β¦β¦β¦ Like a lot of things, it means something entirely different now days.

I have a high school reunion next weekend , followed by a wedding weekend. Obviously I want to look my best for both these events. I will continue my portion control plans. Honestly, when you commit to it, it is not that bad. Just cut everything in half and IF you are still really hungry, have more. I think most of us won't really be. Anyway it seems to be helping me.
Ok while I am typing this, my husband literally just opened a box of cookies and starting eating them like potato chips. I took the box away, firmly but kindly like Mary Poppins. He pouted for a minute but he is now over it. Oy vey. If only he read my advice LOL.

Goal 128 lbs
Good morning. I didn't realize I've been MIA for so long. It has been quite busy but now we are starting to get ready for the cold months and things are settling down. I've found something that is working for me which is more plant based eating. I've switched to carrots, apples and tomatoes for lunch instead of a big salad which I was adding cheese, meat and salad dressing to. I've been pretty successful at lowering the calories from snacks as well. Since I haven't been here in a while this doesn't really say it all because I always gain a little when we go on a camping trip and I had two trips since 9/2. I'm just glad this new way I'm eating is getting the weight off quickly and now that camping is over hopefully the scale will continue to go down.

all the medical tests are done for now. Dr said I have osteoporosis and high cholesterol. Got a scrip for one and diet changes for the other for now. I wouldn't mind not knowing what was going on in my body. I already do a lot of walking, think I am going to add some weight workouts, or get a weighted vest to wear on my walks. I think i have a backpack to start small. Add more veggies to the diet too. I do get enough calcium, so that is good.
here is to living better with new diagonosis.4 -
Dear friends,
Let's do this! Let's make these next few weeks a success!
What is one new goal this week that you can do to enhance your goals?
Mine is have a "meatless Monday". I'll have to plan ahead to do this. Maybe even make a vegetarian dinner.
2 -
Goal this weekβ¦drink minimum of 64 oz water. I never drink enough
4 -
@lclark04957 great goal π₯
my goal this week is closing the kitchen after dinner β3 -
my goal is to let go of things I can't change. breathe
3 -
My goal is to exercise at least 5 of the 7 days this week. I would also like to incorporate a little fun dancing into my routine again as the weather is getting quite cold and rainy in Northern Michigan and I will have to find more ways to keep in shape inside.
3 -
2 weeks to go and Iβm hanging in. My goal for these next 2 weeks is to keep to my calorie limit and to let go of my cheat day Saturdays, I love a great breakfast on Saturday so will keep that but skip the chips and big dinner that evening. I work out a LOT which is helping me stay on track but my cheat day is really slowing up my weight loss progress. Hereβs to initiating this with the coming weekend. I wanna finish strong. Good luck everyone!
