10 pounds to lose challenge- August 1, 2025-October 31, 2025

Well gang, I return with an update. This week I lost .7 lbs (so 1.8 lbs total so far). I am pleased that the scale is going down and Iβm going to keep pressing on. I was listening to a Mel Robbins podcast this morning that actually gave me a nice motivational spark. She spoke of 3 habits for success - 1) Push Yourself (do it even when you donβt feel like it. If you wait until you feel like it itβs probably not gonna happen. 2) repeat #1 over and over 3) practice self compassion when you stumble. Donβt beat yourself up. Iβm sailing off into September with these 3 habits in mind. See you all next time with an update. β€οΈ

thanks for the motivational spark π₯ Iβm gonna put it to use today. Thanks
Today for lunch, I went out to eat with my husband and friends to a new hamburger joint. Breaking my five-day perfect eating routine.
Well I get home and decide β no I have not had enough to eatβ so I raided my husbandβs candy cupboard. Pushing my limits of fulfillment.
But now, after reading your post of practicing self compassion, Iβm feeling motivated to βpush myselfβ back into my healthy living routine. Thanks for sharing

βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ008/31 β 181.8 β (Trend Weight β 184.5) I exceeded my goal by 3.0 lbs in August, losing a total of 7 lbs this month which will really help me in my little experiment if I can just hang on to it. I really kept each individual weekβs goal in mind while doing this, though I had some bad days and some weeks I had to make up for. I have the U.S. Holiday of Labor Day (a food holiday) in September, a family memberβs birthday, and at least one travel day every week looming for the month. I will be battling every week as I usually gain several pounds per travel day so I will have to work hard all week, every week, to get it back down. That is like a challenge within a challenge for me! It wonβt be easy but I am committed to this feat, this challenge, this experiment and to myself and my health. I am going forward with hope in my heart!

Happy September and Happy Labor Day to all who celebrate and enjoy those end of summer BBQβs. Tomorrow is travel so there will not be any progress made there. In fact, it will likely get worse between all the sitting the the restaurant foods, but I will try to keep today thoughtful and clean so I have a better start than today. Have a great week everyone!

Though I'd share my favorite in home exercise routine
After 5 years the trampoline is still doing me great. The Ellipticals donβt agree with me and my Bowflex TreadClimber hurt my knees which was an expensive purchase.
This first video is mostly all I do. If I have knee pain when bouncing, I slightly lean/twist my knees outward. I often stay busy with upper body moves and watching TV.And like this second video, I have and often use the bar for stability. I did record the 5-moves and will be adding them to my daily rebounding.

HW 206 lbs. 2023
8/2 171.0
8/13 172.0
8/22 169.8
9/3 170.1
I am stuck for months in this range of pounds. But I will look at things from a different angle.
Positive changes:
Ate more veggies and fruit each day. I have made a consistent effort to pack both in my lunch box.
Exercise: Pilates regularly and walking over 10,000 steps per day. Weight training once a week but need to boost that to twice a week.
Meditating each evening before bed. I use Insight Timer and put on a sleep meditation for 20 min. and fall asleep pretty easily. Now, I just need to stay asleep. I'm past menopause, and since then, I awaken every two hours.
Goal for this week: Separate work stress and keep all the problems at work.
Thanks to everyone for their insightful, helpful posts.

Hello everyone. I went camping again and only gained 1 lb again. This was a longer trip of 6 days. Got in a ton of steps and did some rowing as well. Now my Fitbit is telling me to take it easy. I came across this discussion today and found a post re: alcohol by @tolkienlady quite interesting. I only rarely drink alcohol, so it has little importance to me, but I thought I'd share it here for those of you who like a glass of wine with your dinner. The gist of it is, alcohol negatively impacts your body's fat metabolizing process, so weight loss is easier if done without alcohol.

So I have gotten into the 140's barely, but I will take it. I have been walking more lately as we are having cooler than usual weather here in the mid-Atlantic. I'm still on my semaglutide (generic wegovy). I am not re subscribing as it cost 1500.00 for 24 week supply, so I will really have to be disciplined as it will run out during eating season (Oct to Jan 1.) It has also helped me to curb my alcohol consumption which we all know is absolutely empty calories. I wanted to be under 150 by my birthday which is next week, so I am definitely pleased.

Sorry, I have not had time to post. Work is crazy and I just don't have the energy to post.
Positive news:
Eating low carb. I will weigh tomorrow.
Pilates workout and lift weights at home.
Meditate every night before bed.
When I pack my lunch, I try to pack a veggie, a fruit, a protein and a salty snack (small portion). Otherwise, I feel deprived.
Have not had any sweets all week. Not craving sweets or chocolate. Not sure why.
Thanks for keeping this challenge going! I love seeing all your posts! It takes a village. I will try to be better and post when work calms down. π

August 27th 195lbs. I have been hovering around this weight. I had a few days weighing less. So just keep working on it. Watching my intake.
September 3rd 194.5 lbs A small victory. My 7 day trend is 194.5. I have started to pay more attention to processed carbs. My emotional go to. Feel alone taking care of my dad with Parkinsons with dementia. No sibling support. Thank God for my husband.
September 10th 198 lbs My 7 day trend is 195.2 lbs. Very emotional right now so I head to the fridge & cupboards. Back on track today.

@Bemybestby60 Food is the one thing that we can count on when everything around us appears unknown. It can bring us comfort when nothing else does because it's familiar. We definitely know what to expect from it. Hang in there, my friend. All you can do is your best. It IS important that you try to take care of yourself during this process. But taking care of your dad will ultimately and instinctively come first. You are not alone. You are NEVER alone. I'll be saying prayers for your dad and for you & hubby. Keep going. You got this!

Slept well and now Iβm up early. These shorter days and dark mornings are a sure sign the season is changing. Yesterday, I even wore my first sweater. π
After 10+ years of measuring & documenting nutrition I thought by now it was integrated into my life. So I shifting my focus from rigid measurement to mindful, flexible eating habits. A more peaceful, balanced approach. But no it is NOT π© working. So itβs back to the scales, and measuring cups. (calories, fat, sodium, fiber, protein) π³ repeatβ¦
Have a great weekend everyone,
