Hello all, I’m checking in with an update. I am down .7 on the scale at today’s weigh in, so that’s 2.5 lbs down since I started this round of the challenge. I ate terribly last week what with the holiday (I just let the overeating carry into the whole week vs just Labor Day but did work out daily). I pushed myself this past week (a marathon of yard work, Zumba, my lifting class, and a 4.5 mile walk yesterday). I’m ready for another good week next week. I am so good with just chipping away at this a little at a time. Good luck everyone!❤️

You're so right. I ate very poorly yesterday. I woke up thinking I need to go back into measuring and tracking before this becomes a habit.

Thank you for your kind words.

Hi everyone,
I went up little bit 156.4 this past Wednesday, but I should fix it by this Wednesday.
Enjoy your day,
🩷Carole

The scale is up from sodium and carbs. Will be eating extra veggies and drinking extra water 💧
Here’s yesterday’s hike with my walking buddy Rebecca. As requested, That is a senior glamour photo 🤣
Best wishes for our new week

My name is Donna. I am 65 years old and I live in the Midwest of the US. I am 5’ 5” tall. My highest weight was 253. I would like to lose a total of about 100 pounds and have been working on it for too many years (since 2018). I weigh weekly but also on the 1st and last day of each month for a full month’s account.

CHALLENGE STARTING WEIGHT (FROM July 31st): 189.0
CHALLENGE TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS GOAL: Total Loss of 9.2 lbs to land at 179.8
CHALLENGE ENDING WEIGHT: xxxxx
TOTAL LOST IN THIS CHALLENGE: xxxxx
🔜🔜🔜🔜🔜ULTIMATE GOAL: 145-155 (I’ll know when I get there!)
I AM TRYING SOMETHING LATELY. MY GOAL FOR THE CHALLENGE WILL BE 0.1 lbs PER DAY. THAT WILL USUALLY COME TO SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 9 AND 10 LBS TOTAL LOST MOST CHALLENGES. IT WILL BE DIFFICULT BUT I DON’T FEEL IT IS TOO MUCH TO ASK, EVEN GIVEN MY AGE, MY MEDICAL CONDITIONS THAT SET ME BACK AND MY MEDICATIONS. IF I GET BEHIND ON ANY GIVEN DAY, WEEK OR MONTH, I’VE ONLY MADE IT HARDER ON MYSELF AS I HAVE TO THEN CATCH UP. THE SPECIFIC GOALS NUMBERS MAY CHANGE AS I GO ALONG ONLY TO KEEP IN LINE WITH MY GRAND TOTAL LOSS GOAL. IN THE END IT SHOULD BE EQUAL TO 0.1 LB PER DAY OR MORE. I KNOW IT’S A MIND GAME I’M PLAYING WITH MYSELF, BUT IT ALSO FEELS LIKE I’M NOT BITING OFF MORE THAN I CAN CHEW. LET’S SEE HOW THIS GOES!
Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

09/09 – 183.6 ✅ (Trend Weight – 184.6) I am recording and posting my weight a day early since I will be out of town later today and tomorrow . A bit of travel earlier this week set me back a day or two while the after Labor Day holiday weigh-in on the 2nd killed my spirit a bit too but I managed to rein it in before this next bout of two day travel that starts today. I will be back tomorrow night. Feels like I’m chasing my tail sometimes due to travel, but so far I’ve managed to make it work this past week and still show a loss. Again, it will be all restaurants and lots of sitting the next two days, but I think I have time to get back to good graces before next weigh-in, yet again. Crossing fingers, anyway.
🐝🐝🐝🐝 09/16 –184.8 ❌ (Trend Weight: 184.8) A funny thing happened on the way to the…. Okay, anyway. Here’s the story (to explain the gain). Made a lovely dinner last night that I’ve made before. But instead of chicken breast it was boneless chicken thighs. Instead of roasted…sautéed in a pan. After all that work I gagged on the first bite. The meat was too hard. Now, this has always been the main crux of my eating disorders…texture. In the trash bin it went after all that work! So with no plan for dinner now, and STARVING did I make a quick good choice? Perhaps a tuna sandwich on low cal/low carb bread. Perhaps breakfast for dinner with eggs and avocado toast. Perhaps even just a quick can of soup, though processed it would be within calorie and carb limits. Nope. Straight for the boxed sweetened cereal left by DD for DGS. A bowl and ½ later I was finally full (which of course didn’t last too long), so then I had to suffer the rest of the night. August was a very good month for me. You can see by the❌'s that September has not been. It’s time to pull my head out of you-know-where and get with the program. My lower left area of my tummy/torso is hurting today. My intestines I think. It’s probably the sugar!
09/23 – xxxxx (Trend Weight – xxxxx)
09/30 – xxxxx (Trend Weight – xxxxx) I will probably come back a day or two late to record my weight for September end. After travel, giving it a day or two will allow the most accurate true numbers to reveal themselves.

🚴♀️🚴♀️🚴♀️Sept Goal: 182.2 (Ended Aug at 0.4 lbs better than goal but back up already mid month. (Now I need 182.2 to stay on track.) As of Sept 2nd weight of 187.8 I need to lose 5.6 lbs this month.

August 1st SW 195 lbs
GW 185 lbs
Wow so many interesting posting with alot of insight. I am glad I took the time to read. August 6th 195lbs, August 14th 197 lbs, August 16th 195 lbs
Ok moving back to thecright direction
August 20th 195lbs I had a 24 hour time frame where I gained 7lbs & then lost it. I almost ran out to the variety store to buy a bag of potato chips plus dip. But I hanged on.
August 27th 195lbs. I have been hovering around this weight. I had a few days weighing less. So just keep working on it. Watching my intake.
September 3rd 194.5 lbs A small victory. My 7 day trend is 194.5. I have started to pay more attention to processed carbs. My emotional go to. Feel alone taking care of my dad with Parkinsons with dementia. No sibling support. Thank God for my husband.
September 10th 198 lbs My 7 day trend is 195.2 lbs. Very emotional right now so I head to the fridge & cupboards. Back on track today.
September 17th 195 lbs My 7 day trend is 195.4 lbs. Had a couple of days where I gained quite a bit. Logging my foods. Trying to get in the right place.

For the next 5 weeks, I am taking a break from my MFP goals.
Next Friday the 26th, I will be having open-heart surgery (CABG). The surgery is expected to help relieve chest pain, improve function, and prevent another heart attack.
As my situation improves, I will update everyone. Just didn’t want the extra pressure of MFP goals. Expected full recovery in 4-6 weeks. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers,
Love Karen8 -
oh my Karen, didn't relize that you had heart issues, sending healing prayers! keep us posted on how things go for u, take care,,hugs!

Wow. I'm so surprised. I'm amazed you can be as active as you are with your condition. I'm sure you'll feel much, much better after you recover.
Thanks for letting us know. Five weeks doesn't sound like much of a break but I'm sure you'll see how it goes. We'll miss you, of course. But good luck. Your fitness buddies will surely help when they can. Don't forget to tell them "I think I need to rest for a while" if they overstay their visit.
Good luck. Check in and let us know how you're doing.

SW 8/01/2024 165
GW 5/02/2025 132 to 135
CW 9/19/2025 134.5I'm glad I've been able to hold the line. I certainly make many bad choices. But when I track I can see where small changes can help. I see that extra 500+ calories here and there and think about whether they're worth it.
Keep going, everyone. The small wins all count. NEVER GIVE UP!!!!

Losing weight ever so slowly. Lots of stress at work. I'm surprised I haven't lost more. I eat very little at work and work through lunch sometimes. I can't wait for a day when I can feel less stress. I wake around 4 am and just rest and then get up around 5 am. I average about 12,000 steps per day. I love reading your posts! Keeps me going.

Hi everyone,
Happy last day of Summer!
I have not yet "course-corrected" for last week and the week before, but I haven't given up and I hope to do better for the last days in September.
I will report again on Wednesday, September 24th.
Enjoy your day!
💗Carole

I'm with you, Carole. I've been eating a lot for the last month. This morning, BOOM, it showed up on the scale. I'd been skating along getting away with it for while. In the back of my mind I knew what I was doing.
Today, I'm just trying to get my head back in the game. I need a mental adjustment immediately. I'll look forward to your September 24th, Wednesday report. I've made that my short term goal. Just make it 'til Wednesday. Then I'll see where I am before the last week in September. I need this.
5 -
I'm with both of you in regards to September. I ended on August 31st at 181.8 and have been failing miserable since. August was such a good month for me. I don't know what happened. I think a mix of extra travel in September and reckless abandon. In any case, I'll be lucky to even get back to my starting weight by the end of the month. I'm with you Carole. I've got to try to make these last days of September really count!

OK Guys, lets regroup. We do not want to go into eating season without some resolve here. Let's try to focus on healthy choices…have that side salad instead of fries…or if you want the fries, ask the server to bring only half. That kind of thing. Make a plan to move every day. If it is raining, do a walking or gentle stretch you tube video indoors…ANY kind of movement is better than none. Take an honest look at our portion sizes and put a bit back if you are at home, or ask for a box with your entree at the restaurant and immediately put half in there. Or share 1 entree with a friend. I'm telling you this is how my mother lost 20 pounds when she was 80. She just did the most modest of exercise a few times a week. Our bodies WILL respond to little changes! I am right there with you as my weight loss has completely stalled. But! I pledge to do these little, easy adjustments. We can do this!!

@SunnyDays930 Thank you. I need this today. All of it!!!! Thank you for posting. It helps.
4 -
@SunnyDays930 Thanks so much for the Pep Talk. You are right, of course. Anything and everything we do matters and can make a huge difference. A little story I'd like to share…. Recently at a Mexican restaurant when I ordered I immediately asked the waiter to bring a to-go box with the food. He laughed at me and asked "don't you need to see how much you are going to eat first?" I let him embarrass himself with the chuckle, then I told him I wasn't kidding. I really wanted the box with the food. He did bring it and I immediately boxed up half.
There is Nothing that should stop us, except ourselves and only then when WE choose. As a friend on another challenge often says, "We are the drivers in our lives, not the passengers".
You are right! We Can do this!
