168.5 yesterday and today, I'm ok with that. Would really like to keep it steady. No other news to report.

3 redtail hawks in my yard are keeping me entertained this week. Hubby made a nice steak Monday and we made a salad from the leftovers. Either pork stir fry or chicken thighs for dinner tonight.

I’ve been having too many treats. I ate a 350 calorie ice cream drumstick yesterday. I have to say, I really enjoyed it, but it’s not helping me with my goals.

    8/6- 154.8

Felt good to get that workout done yesterday as I have been slacking big time. Uptick in the scale after a hard workout is not unusual for me. I didn't eat anything horrible other than a few pieces of Lily's low sugar chocolate bar after dinner yesterday. No big issue there.

Anyone else here on GLP medication? or transitioned off into maintenance? I am thinking about weaning off this fall. If I am being honest, NOT having that sensation or urge at all for sweets or snacks sure is addicting.. (although it still comes and goes even on meds) I know that will return and while I know how to manage it, I REALLY like not thinking about food! (which is part of the battle of being on GLP long term). I also think the medication has really helped me with inflammation that I didn't even realize I had been dealing with. Some folks stay on a very low dose infinitum.. Honestly I think it would be cool if I could manage to stay on until I get through perimenopause because that messes with everything in my system and truly believe these meds have helped calm that beast down for me, or at the very least, reduced the side effects other than the emotional roller coaster we suffer through.. (HRT fixes that !)

Back to work.. have a great day everyone

On the subject of GLP1 @HappyDonkey75 yes I’ve been on it for six months now and have had the same experience as you. I so much enjoy the relief from thinking about food. I still occasionally eat fast food and drink wine but I’m satisfied with a very small serving or happy to just nurse a glass. I’m no longer fighting myself all the time. And I have an inflammatory condition which has calmed down a lot. I’m on the lowest dose and I have no side effects. I’ve come to accept the fact that weight loss or maintenance will be a lifelong constant effort for me (take one look at my dad’s side of the family and you’ll see why). I expect I’ll stay on the meds another few months and then taper off but we’ll see what my doctor says. I hadn’t made the connection with perimenopause but perhaps it’s helping with that too, I’ve had a much easier time than most of my friends. Interestingly, the meds haven’t accelerated my weight loss. I was already losing 1 - 2 lbs per month for about a year before I started taking them. But the meds help tremendously with the constant mental battle and the inflammation.

@MercyRoth - it's always interesting to me to hear others who are having similar experiences with the meds. I have read so many forums where people are not changing anything and just dropping 3-4 lbs a month consistently. No major big losses like that for me , atleast not consistently . After a big loss period, I plateau for a longer period so its a slow process with lots of ups and downs. But yes, the thing that is referred to as "food noise" is nice to not experience.. Until the meds I didn't realize I even had that issue. I am glad to hear it has helped your inflammatory condition. I have often wondered if I have something like that undiagnosed because I have always seemed to struggle with excessive muscle pain and some low grade swelling (sock line indentations) in my lower legs. I know my grandma and mother both have lymphadema. The meds have definitely helped all that but not the muscle pain issues, which I am actually having a bought of today after Mondays workout. (hard to sit down on anything without wanting to cry!)

    8/7- 153

So much body soreness yesterday afternoon that I didn't do anything in the evening. I ate dinner which was grilled chicken and salad and proceeded lay on the couch for most of the evening. I had taken a couple of short walks during the work day and stood on the vibration plate in the hopes it would help offset the soreness. I took a bigger dose of magnesium before bed but still tossed and turned alot during the night as I could not get comfortable. I was wishing I had some muscle relaxers!

Hoping to get out for more walking today. We will see about a workout..

I want to grab fast food, pizza, etc, but we've stuck to salads or soup. I'm proud for not caving for easy at the end of the day.

Surprising since I went way over in calories yesterday.

I take GLP 1 meds and I never got that quick weight loss that some others had on it. It was always slow and now it has stopped altogether. I’ve been at a plateau for 6 months and I’m trying. I exercise and calorie control and still struggle. I don’t want to stop taking it because I’m afraid the weight I have lost will come back on. I lost 20 pounds with a lot of exercise last year. The food noise is somewhat less but I still crave food. I do think it helps me feel full.

@Kupla71 - welcome to the slow losers club! Maybe in the long run we are better off ? quick weight loss is quicker to come back . Plateau's are hard. Have you continued to up your dose? Or done a big calorie increase for a week or so , to shock your system and then cut back again? Some people swear by that. When we are in a calorie deficit for too long ,it messes with our metabolism and can sometimes create these plateaus. I know our bodies get used to the meds and at some point do stop responding as we build up a tolerance I guess.

@MichelleD7896 -determination is half the battle, mental fortitude when the going gets tough.

@ManifestingToday - I hope you can get back to a normal routine soon. I know how that goes all too well. Stress does a number on me. Also… way to go on resisting the urge to cave into those temptations. Proud of you. That is so hard to stay the course when all the stress is coming at you from all directions. Your doing great, keep putting one foot in front of the other and every so often allow yourself a little treat so you don't feel deprived and then binge on something. I have been craving chocolate lately myself so I get the lily's salted carmel bars. They do have a slightly different taste but it hits the spot mostly and doesn't do a ton of damage to the calories.

We got a pretty big thunderstorm last night and MORE rain , along with hail in some parts of the valley. Some impressive lightning and thunder which hopefully didn't start any fires (somehow in spite of all the rain we have had there have been a few random fire starts from lightning)The temps really dropped last night and we could literally see our breath when we were outside grilling dinner . It sure feels like fall out there. I don't mind the cooler temps . Nothing better than being able to snuggle up on the couch with a blanket and hot cup of tea if you ask me. However, it will make for a very long winter if we don't get some real summer weather . We have had a few days here and there of 80's and a few days of muggy weather as a result of all the moisture.

Today we are car shopping in the afternoon, which I loathe… but need to figure out what I even want so I can start narrowing down the search. I am leaning toward a Honda CR-V to be honest but also considering a GMC or Chevy.

    For @Kupla71
Plateaus are the worst!!! I’ve had a few. Sometimes it does help to have a week of eating at or above maintenance. Or even one carb heavy day sometimes helps. Also I like to think it’s my body cementing itself at a new lower weight like intermediate camps while climbing a mountain. Adjusting to the new altitude ⛰️🧗🏔️

MichelleD7896 Welcome - I've started/restarted several times, as have others here or that have been part of this group. Glad to have you with us, and know that however the weight release journey works for you is ok.

The discussion about GLPs is interesting, as it the variety of results. I didn't feel comfortable discussing this subject with the doctor in May. Until I find a doctor that appears empathetic and understands what mid-life weight gain is like, I want to see how low I can get without medical assistance. My main focus this moment is to get under 200 lbs. Just having a "1" in the number again would shift my mindset tremendously.

HappyDonkey75 I hate vehicle shopping too. We just got out of two 12 year old cars over the past few years. Just in case: we have a newish Hyundai Tucson SE (2023). The dashboard has changed in the newer models, but at least the model we have has great pickup, relatively roomy, and AWD, and this is at the lower trim level. Just in case you are looking for options to test drive. We don't drive it as our main vehicle as it does drink fuel faster than a car, but it is our long distance driver.

And thank you - hopefully after today (fingers crossed), half this stress is over.

Hope everyone has a great Friday.

@HappyDonkey75 Yeah, this plateau is hard to break. I’ve had a few high calorie days so maybe that will do the trick. I’m at the highest dose so nowhere to go there. I think my body is used to the meds and maybe it has stopped working.

@MercyRoth Yeah, I think my body has decided on this new set point.
