August 23: 160.8@SuperMotivated56 I quit drinking coffee and strangely enough I think that is making a difference. I googled if coffee can increase your appetite and apparently it can for some people. After a cup of coffee I always felt hungrier. I thought it was in my head but there’s something to it. Another change I made was to start eating more meat again. I’m really focusing on protein. I also put off eating for as long as I can to let myself get truly hungry. I drink lots of water and tea and try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise a day. I’m thrilled that I’m losing again!

wgat great insights you have into what works for you. I haven’t consumed caffeine in more than 20 years now (due to an arrhythmia) so can’t try that out as a new practice. I have also been eating more meat and cutting some things that just do damage according to the scale - a big one for me is nuts. I’m doing a lot of reflection (and keeping lists 🙃) so I’ll let you know if I have any worthwhile discoveries to share. 💭2 -

@Kupla71 - congrats on your new lows ! Interesting about coffee increasing your appetite. It does the opposite for me. Especially an afternoon coffee (has to be no later than 2:00 pm) and it will hold off the afternoon slump and munchies for me . I never get hungry for breakfast until about 9:00 am but i have read some about eating within the half hour of waking. I follow Maverick Willett on Youtube and he talks about this.. but his take is that its kind of BS. His approach is to listen to your body, when you hungry , eat the food.. if your not hungry , don't eat.. kinda thing..
@SofaKween - Guess what? I did the kayak trip! It was amazing . I will admit though. I was very apprehensive about my decision to follow through with this on the 40 minute drive to meet the group because I kept thinking about all the kayakers that make this trip and end up calling in for rescue and DID NOT want to be on that list. We wanted to hike the island a little but but as we expected that wind started to pick up shortly after we arrived and we figured we better be on our way back. It took us an 45 minutes to paddle out and an hour to paddle back. There were a few hairy moments on the way back because of the wind and we had some waves, just enough to make the paddle harder. My rented kayak was definitely better than my float toy but it was heavy.. so I did get a heck of a workout coming back. I was with a group who had the fancy really streamlined kayaks so I got much more of a workout than anyone else. BUT my kayak was VERY STABLE which I appreciated.

However, what I have noticed is that I have slept much better these past few nights (although it could more be due to a better night temperature). Managed to resist the leftover glass of wine last night but only because once poured out of the bottle there were 18 small flies thrashing around in it 😂

General updates-
Iceland packing effort is stalled.. can't seem to focus long enough without some other disruption. Still trying to make sure I have everything I need for the trip . Lots to think about
Work- continues to be a source of every day frustration but I am working on trying to do what I can in a day and let the rest roll off my back. Got my manager to send a couple of escalation emails yesterday . Told her leadership approval on a few things is bottlenecking progress. I have done my job at this point. I also reminder her that I will be gone for two full weeks and these items will need to be wrapped up before I leave or we risk missing a critical CMS deadline for the audit.
The elderly dog- she is still with us. I honestly can't believe it. She is a full time job though. We have alot of middle of the night accidents ,unfortunately with #2 so we have had to pull up all the throw rugs . She mostly sleeps her day away and has to be encouraged heavily to go out. When we go for a walk, she gets confused (mostly blind and deaf) and panics a bit if she loses sight of me. (she refuses to walk on a leash as she has never needed one)
Another hot day here so it will be limited walking outside. Get my butt in the workout room for a full body session tonight.

Honestly I’m feeling really frustrated and disappointed. I thought this could finally be the morning I get below 170 which is a big milestone for me but no. 1.5 lbs gain for no apparent reason. Losing a half lb per month is so slow, it’s hard to maintain a positive attitude. I suppose I haven’t yet seen the benefit of the small early dinner routine so I’ll try to hang in there.

8/28: 152.7 - rested body by force and hip actually feels better. Supported DH at hospital all day yesterday after surgery. Had nuts, apples, and a 1/2 sandwich and then it was too late for “dinner” when I returned home. Made a crackers and cheese plate and boy was that ever good.
