Hopefully that worked.52 -

Hi!
Runner here looking to switch up my routine and start some heavy lifting this fall/winter. Please add me if you're in the same boat or if you have any tips for me!0 -
This is so inspiring!! Thank you for sharing :-) This is motivating me to be more consistent with my work outs.2

Some amazing pics ladies, thank you for sharing.
It shows we can do it if we really want too, I'll be working out at the gym tomorrow.0 -

bump...going to watch this thread grow...need the inspiration!
I tried New Rules for women and got through the first bit fine but moving on to step two was almost twice the time in the gym and not do-able on my lunch hour.
Have done SL 5X5 (for a short time) and have considered going back, mainly because the lifts are easy to remember. But I can't possibly see results like these with just those compound lifts...
Would love to know the type of lifts/exercises you ladies are doing.3 -
Bump, i love this thread. I am focusing on building muscle. I am 5'4 and weighed in at 141.6 this morning. the profile pic is from yesterday. my son took that picture for me, also a single mom and struggling to make ends meet, so I find it hard to get a completely clean diet, but whatever I am doing is working so I am going to keep it up4

Whoa! Proof in the pudding right here! Great job, you look fantastic. 2lb gain suits you1 -
I love weight lifting. My weight has been the same for about four months now but I have def lost inches and the amount I can lift increases all the time. I feel great because of the lifting. I find I am also able to push myself to do more because my body is stronger. I still do cardio, but not as much as I used to. These are my results from just since I really got into lifting. They are not huge results, but results non the less

I am doing just the compound lifts. I have seen better results with those than when I was following NROLW. I bet a quite a few of these ladies are doing compounds also, please correct me if I'm wrong!
ETA: I mainly focus on compounds, currently I am following 5-3-1 and doing a couple accessory lifts but not much. I was following 5x5 and doing only compounds, that is where most of my results came from. I just recently switched to 5-3-1 and added the accessories back in, the only reason is because I become bored easily and needed to change it up. Not because of lack of results from only doing compounds.0 -
While I am an avid runner and believe in the power of cardio, the only way I've ever been able to actually lose weight and reshape my body is by lifting weights. Check out this strength training plan (three phases, 12 weeks long) to use as a base until you get yourself more familiar with lifting. There are videos to show you how to do the exercises as well.

I started with New Rules but switched in the middle of stage 3 because it was getting so far away from the compound lifts, and with all the other stuff it was taking like an hour. I went to Nia Shanks instead and I'm much happier with that.1 -

This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for! Thanks so much.0 -
Pics in my profile show my overall progress. While I did take up running this year, most of my exercise over the years has been strength training. I currently run 3xweek and weight lift 2-3 days (3rd workout depends on if I'm playing team sports that weekend).
My current profile pic was taken in Sept.3 -
I don't understand why more women don't lift. The results are incredible!! All if you ladies ate rock stars in my book!0

This was taken after 4 months of lifting. I highly recommend progress photos!!! I didn't weigh myself during the 4 months. I lost inches... I expected to step on that scale and be at my goal weight because of the changes in my body. I didn't lose a single pound!!! This is when I learned it is not always about the number on the scale. It is about how you look and feel about your body.0 -

everyone looks good....i'm just not sure what size weights i should be lifting or how often I should do it...I was 270 now I'm 233 and I have ultimate goal of 170.. I would like to lift weights so I can lose these flabby arms and flabby stomach0

Exact same weight, one year apart.
This was after losing 130+ pounds, so the results aren't perfect but I'm pretty pleased and eager to see the changes after another year of heavy lifting.27
