Why is there SO MUCH negativity here?!

This is the internet... filled with a bunch of cowardly *kitten* who have all the confidence to be rude to someone behind the comfort of a computer. Get them in person, though, and most of the time they'll keep quiet. Just ignore them.
Aww yes Richardo....100% agree.
Another interesting thing that happens on the internet...People go onto the internet...Call people out for being "mean" on the internet...Throw insults (e.g. Cowardly *kitten*) at said people on the internet that are worse than anything that was actually being said...Proceed on the internet to say people that do that on the internet would never do that in real life....And then fail to see the irony of it...in real life or on the internet
IRL, I would give you a tummy bump right now Ryry. I prefer that to the fist bump.0 -

I am sure I can find a pot.0 -
I'll also grant that "douchebaggery" is highly subjective, but I think we all know a jerk when we see one!
Considering how many people point to perfectly reasonable posts and call them douchey (or something similar), I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

There's so much negativity because the forum is filled with:
Lies
Misinformation
People unwilling to do work
Confused people
People unwilling to listen to difficult truths
etc etc
In other words, there's so much negativity because there's so much stupidity and laziness.0 -
Wow, I can't believe this is still going on. This is positively adorable!

I hung out here about 15 months ago and got so frustrated with the misinformation and all, I finally deleted my account. This is the first time I've looked back in. I have to admit I'm shocked at how much less 'stupid' it is now. Back then, the forum was deluged with threads about how you have to eat more to weigh less, eating below BMR meant instant death for all and the latest Dr. Oz diet miracles.0

I just want to point out that this site does provide support. It isn't here for everyone to cheer you on. It is here for you to support yourself. Like a walker for old people. We aren't here to hold people's hands. We have our own jobs to do. We simply tell each other what has worked for us, hopefully provide some insight as to how and why, post recipes and let everyone know that "I, too, have been where you've been". it's real world glazed over by the freedom of anonymity to provides us the platform for freedom of speech without any true ramafications to ourselves. Thus why people will say things that normally they wouldn't say in person.
OP, don't take what people say personally. Take their advice unbiasedly and realize that what these people have said has been repeated a seemingly infinite amount of times and it gets harder to not flat out say "Yeah, you're doing it wrong". And glean whatever information helps you in your journey. Support yourself and you, in turn, shall support others ( i just made that up... totally copyrighting that yogi shizzle right there!)0 -

The obvious difference vs 15 months ago is that I'm posting now.0 -

Oh, it's still full of that, too.

The only negativity I see here is not enough food porn!
And no one sharing their damn cupcakes!!!0 -
Why is there so much negativity? Every one here is deprived of Sugar, Calories, or Sex. I think that pretty much explains it.
Speak for yourself. :flowerforyou:
you lie. you have lost 44 lbs its scientifically impossible for you to not be in a caloric deficit. Why cant you just be honest?
Calorie deficit =/= calorie deprivation
I got fat eating about 2800-3000 calories per day. Losing means staying at 2000 calories, no deprivation here. (and sugar daily)0 -

Isn't this supposed to be a place of support? Time after time I see threads of success and someone rips them a new one for doing it differently then themselves. TDEE isn't for everyone. Paleo isn't for everyone. High carb high sugar eat everything in moderation isn't for everyone. But, no, people with zero medical skill pipe in about how wrong someone's diet choices are. Seriously, how awful is that? Can't we just say, "RIGHT ON!" and move along? What kind of a support system IS this?!
WHERE ARE MY POSITIVE PEOPLE AT?!
I agree. We are all different. What works for me may not work for you. To each his own. TGIF!!0 -

Wow, I see what got you all fired up with the other thread. I think sometimes people just don't realize how to phrase things properly online to be supportive yet convey a difference in opinion. Also, some people think that flippant comments (not intended to be rude) are hilarious when in actuality they are not. The bottom line is that any comment on a thread should be taken with a grain of salt. Mental filters are much more powerful than online thread filters. : )0
