It feels like I've been gone FOREVER .. but only about 10 days. Those 10 days were NOT very good eating days, so I am up a couple of pounds - but will hopefully take them right back off again.
New Year's was uneventful, but too much food around.
My trip to New York with my 19yo daughter was fun but stressful. We did a TON of things in 4 days - probably too many, we were tired and cranky with each other more than I would have liked. I'm disappointed that it didn't turn out to be more of a 'bonding' experience for us - but that was probably an unrealistic hope, in fact by the end of the trip we were pretty sick of each other (cuz with lack of sleep, exhausted from running around like crazy and not getting everything in, and being stuck together for 4 days - she is a self-centered, ungrateful 19yo and I am a naggy, irritating almost 50yo mom) - hopefully with a little time we will remember all the fun things we did on the trip too.
Now I need to concentrate on getting back on track. I usually really struggle AFTER vacations, because I feel sorry for myself and hard to get back into a routine. In fact, I skipped my workout yesterday and am thinking about skipping today. I know that would be a bad idea ... and usually my workouts are super important to me. So I need to make myself go today, even if I don't want to.

    Winter goal (3/19) - 220

Did you stay within your nutritional goals? I didn't track, but I did start to get back on track
Did I reach yesterday's personal goal? not really
What did I do yesterday that I am proud of? made hamburger, beans and rice to eat for a few days
What would I have done differently? would have gone to step, and tracked my food
What is today's personal goals? stay under in calories & go to step

    Sun- walking around New York
Mon - walking around New York
Tues - walking around New York & travel day home
    Wed - rest
    Thurs - 45 min step
    Fri - 60 min step

Happy New Year! This is how I felt when my daughter and I went to Disney this past June. Last month she asked if we could go back - you know - just the two of us. So I guess I wasn't as naggy and irritating as I thought...LOL I told her to save her money - UGH! she has $600 so far :noway: Same thing a few years ago. The two of us drove down to VA (from MA) and she wasn't too pleased about the ride. After the trip she said that it was one of the best trips she's been on. You too will look back and take all the good experiences from your trip to NY!!!
  • Thanks GoldK for inviting me to this this thread. I think it's just what I need to stay on track. 2013 was a very inconsistent year for me, health wise. But, I did get treatment for my decades old issue with chronic severe insomnia, and have made great strides there, so I am optimistic about other areas of my health as well! I have never done one of these threads--pardon me if I do it wrong!

This is my first day, obviously!

Did you stay within your nutritional goals? so far!
Did I reach yesterday's personal goal? didn't set one
What did I do yesterday that I am proud of? took time for myself that I needed
What would I have done differently? ate more consciously rather than just stuffing my face with whatever
What is today's personal goals? Stay under my calorie goal, and eat cleanly
