@belimawr great pic!
I'm back for night one of 2. I love seeing all this exercise and losing on my news feed. Keeps me motivated.
@lilaclovebird Have you built an ark yet? Weather stories keep popping up on my facebook newsfeed for all the rain. Stay safe!1 -

I have NOT built an ark yet but I Noah a guy!
I had to!
We're supposed to get more rain. I got temporarily stranded at work and then sent home once levels went down to a 'manageable level' and we're in constant contact with the national weather service and Texas is in a state of emergency. Houston is under water so I'm doing my best not to burden them.
We lost power for a bit but it came back and other than some misc. alarms, all is well.
Should be getting more rain tomorrow with some thunder/lightening.
Bright side: WLALW is a bust for most protesters/extremists because of the weather.2 -

@lilaclovebird - seriously? You've had 15 inches of rain in 24 hours? The last time I was in Lockhart they only got 24 inches all year and the cattle were starving. Feast or famine I guess. Are the reservoirs holding?0

I've been working nightshift for the better part of my adult life and (for reasons that are unknown to me) I can't seem to get a full time job on a different shift to save my soul. I didn't know there was a night shift thread on here!0

Morning all!0

Night shift is the best shift anyway @karenertl and good morning @aflies2

I tried working day shift once. Just once. Glad to see you all on here. Of for those of you in Texas, Glad to see all Y'all on here.0

I haven't worked a dayshift on a regular schedule since nov 2014. I've worked an OT shift here and there but not in months.
No thank you!0 -
I have worked on and off Graves since 1994. This latest stint started in Jan 2015. Since coming to Graves, I get better sleep, I have lost 35 lbs, found my abs, and make more money!

I deal with fewer crazy people on nights. I'm not saying we don't have crazy people, but the daytime folks deal with some crazy people that just keep coming back. Unlike human medicine, we don't have to treat at the animal ER so we can fire their hides and never see them again if we don't want. I really feel bad for human ER personnel, fire departments and for law enforcement. You guys can't fire crazy people.0

It doesn't seem to matter whether I'm on days or nights. I gain and lose weight based more on my stress levels than my work schedule. I gained a lot of weight when I practiced in Florida. It was a stressful place to work. I gained a bunch more weight when the clinic I was working at closed in 2010. I'm losing weight nice and steady now. I have time to get out and exercise during the day and my wonder wife does a phenomenal job helping to remind me to ask for help and not take on everything on my own. She was a wonderful find and I'm lucky she hasn't left my hide with my work schedule.4

@health_guard congrats on the loss so far. I worked for city police departments for 17 years and NEVER got differential pay. It wasn't until I started my current job that I realized such a world existed, lol. @sufferlandrian I am glad to hear that you are less stressed and that you are consistent in you loss. Behind every great man is an amazing woman.1

Hey everyone! I'm new to the boards but this one popped up right away. I'm a night shifter too. Makes it difficult to eat right and exercise. I'm here all night! Would love to meet people in similar situations!2

No differential pay for me either. I'm not sure that it exists in dispatch land lol
I'm hanging out for a bit, listening to my husband snore.2 -

Oh dear, the stories I could tell! Crazy isn't the half of it.0
