Random storm at 5am knocked out power and did damage to buildings and we lost a lot of trees..one even fell on a VAN!
It was like a hurricane just showed up outta nowhere.
Fire department said it looked like a tornado blew through the area across the street. My family was without power for 14 hours.

It was awesome. Let's do it again next week!

Damn woman! That's crazy as hell!

I'm in denial that my weekend off is almost over :'( They do so fricken fast and they're always busy. We managed to cut down some of the activity but still...And starting tomorrow night I work 7 of the next 8. I def need the OT so suck it up I shall!

How'd every one else's weekend go?

Just as quick as things picked up, they have slowed down. I think I'll get a nap tonight. I LOVE my job!

Alrighty, more thunderstorms tonight but I did the phone test before I even knew about them. I even got one full set of rounds done before I got wet! I prefer to do three and without my coat, admittedly I will be down on rounds, and steps, today. Until I get home and can elliptical myself to death.

Hit the weights very light this afternoon, due to a back twinge(it hurts more when I sit for prolonged periods of time). I say "light" I was still squatting 135 and then I dead lifted 155 and did some pull ups...well...assisted but I will get there. And then, in my weight lifting shoes, I proceeded to go for a 3 mile run/walk, spur of the moment.

I've finally broken my 163 pound barrier and saw 162.4 on the scale today!

    In other news:

I'll be submitting my application and resume for UTPD-Austin to be a police cadet on Tuesday, so all the good vibes PLEASE! I would REALLY like to help people in this capacity and it will open up many doors for me.

We had a LOT of trees down in our area and some people were still without power today. Everyone is working on it, people volunteering and things like that. I'll probably pop into the animal shelter here in Bastrop on Wednesday and see if they need anymore hands. Ya know...since the roof of their barn got ripped off by 75 mph winds on Saturday morning. :grimace:

If the last post was night shift than this post is Grave Yard, and it's my Friday at work. Can I go home now?

I like the overnight shifts. You can see some amazing clients. Yes, we do get crazy people but there are some marvelous clients. We had some folks in two nights ago that had to put their old German Shepherd down. As they were leaving they noticed another client that was crying. She didn't have the money to fix the injury on her dog and it needed to be fixed or the dog needed to be put down. Despite their grieving for their loss, they went to the receptionist and told her to put the other gals bill on their credit card. There are some amazing people out there! It almost restores my faith in humanity. Almost.

    What's prescreening

@MYMKLIFE It's basically a two page form where they ask you all the eligibility questions about laws you've broken and things that you've done recently. The only reason mine isn't turned in already is because I have to list all traffic violations from the last 7 years and despite my paying $12 for a certified copy of my driving record from DPS, a ticket that I KNOW was received for my vehicle in the city of Elgin, isn't on there and I should have the specifics of it at home. Once I get that on there, I'll send it off to the hiring sergeant and wait to hear back further for the written test and the physical test. Which I hope are done on Thursdays... :grimace:

Side note: My coworker who has her husband in the hospital just got asked to make the decision about his life support. She's giving him another 24 hours for a miracle.
That was at 2pm on the 2nd.

They have me on DAY SHIFT today....because my coworker's husband died.

I've applied for UT Austin Police Cadet position and my Lt. found out and has encouraged me to apply to ALL agencies and suffer through two years with whoever responds first and then I can work virtually anywhere in the state except for DPS(I'd have to go to their academy).
So yeah....I don't WANT to leave now though because they have such a desperate need for people right now. Especially because DJ's husband died and Gerwick( :grumble: ) is out because of her back and damn near everyone and their mom wants to go on vacation. UGH!

Day shift...yuck! Our leave book don't look bad yet but later in the summer, it's full of people taking time off. And I agree with your Lt. Apply everywhere!
