Movie night! I'll bring the cocoa!
I'm supposed to go look at a bike tonight to potentially buy it. I've been wanting one for a long time.0 -
What kind of bike? Winter is here. A Fat Tire bike would be awesome for riding in the winter. I love mine.0

I think the brand is Greenline? It's a bit bigger than I expected, and not super rugged, but it's not like I'm planning to take it up a mountain or anything, so it should be ok.
What's weird is that it's causing my car to smell like cigarette smoke. The guy I bought it from is smoker, but I don't understand how something almost entirely metal could absorb that smell! I'm probably gonna leave it outside for a few days, if it doesn't rain.0 -

Lubricants and the seat as well as any soft plastic handlebar grips will absorb the cigarette smell. To get rid of the scent you might have to Google "fire cleanup/disaster cleanup.". Cigarette smoke is horrible to get rid of. Cleaning with TSP works on some things but probably won't be good for your bike.0 -
Eating a little dish of 9% Krema Greek Yogourt limited edition Pumpkin Pie. OMG! Like pumpkin cheesecake without the stupid crumb crust. My high protein dessert.0

Just over 2.5 pages left on this 20-page paper. The end...well, it's not near, exactly....but at least it's somewhere out there that I can actually conceive of it.1

Annnnnnnd done! *zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz*2

One and a half days til a big trip..... so many things to do yet before we fly. I feel panicked and rushed, more than normal. I need to remember no one will die if I forget some little thing.0
-
I haven't even had time to take out my new bike yet...annoying.
@canadijneh- hope you got everything done and are now having a fantastic time!0 -
I don't know the exact temp, but it's butt-cold outside! *angry face*0
-
Some remind me next year not to work 110 straight hours. I'm mixing 5 hour energy drinks with Monsters and still struggling. 26 hours to go.1
-
@Jennifer - That's the perfect time to ride. No one else is out there. You have the bike path all to yourself.
@canadjineh - Hope you have fun on the trip.0 -
Whew! Masses of people in Vegas when we got there, but we forgot it's US Thanksgiving weekend. Headed out this morning for Zion and Bryce. Temperatures were record breaking highs with awesome blue skies and timing was right for beautiful late afternoon sun on the red rock...making for great photography. Next couple days in Bryce for hiking and photos.1

Beautiful area in the winter. I'd hate to hike it in the summer. Incredibly hot during the summer. I can't remember if they have Hanta virus there or not. Watch for deer mice feces in your bedding/clothing. You won't catch it if you don't inhale it.0

This thread is so informative!0

Gah, I'm jealous!!! I hope you have an amazing trip and I hope you share pictures with us!!!
I'm so not feeling like working out. I'm tired, my weight isn't moving anywhere. I'm tired. I did manage to quit caffeine and most soda drinking. I'll have caffeine here and there but it's def not an everyday thing anymore. Did I mention that I'm tired?? My dr swears my thyroid is under control but it doesn't feel like it. I need a new dr and better labs drawn; my dr just does TSH and goes from there. I feel like he's not getting the entire picture.0 -
Wow. There's so much more to thyroid than TSH. T4, T3, ability to utilize T4 and T3, abnormalities in the thyroxine or antibody to the thyroxine. Time to run more test.
I'm feeling so wiped out after that 110 hour shift. I managed 30 minutes of exercise 15 bike 15 weights, but I felt like I hit the wall after only 10 minutes on the bike.0 -

There is and I feel like there's still a piece missing somewhere. I don't feel right and it's hard to verbalize it.
And holy hell, 100 hours; that's crazy. I don't how you did it.

I feel like I needed another 4 hours of sleep but I woke up at 2 PM and couldn't get back to sleep. At least I got to play with my youngest daughter. She's a hoot!1
-
I laid down for a nap yesterday and slept about 11 hrs. Musta been a little tired.0
-
Sounds like you were wiped out. Hope you got your zip back.0
-
Had to put our Doberman of 10 years down tonight. She fell off the bed and injured her back. Really sucks and we are all going to miss her.0
-
*squishy hugs* So sorry to hear this.0

It's harder on my wife. We've had that dog longer than she had her first husband and almost as long as I had my first wife. Kinda goes without saying, but we loved that dog a lot more than we loved our exes.0

I second switching docs to get better tests or at least threaten the one you have, Bethanie. restartmed.com is a useful and interesting site that explains more about thyroid disorders and all the tests that should be done to help figure out what is going on. I've managed to improve my thyroid antibodies from over 1100 down to just under 300 simply by supplementing with selenium (essential for the best use of iodine) and tyrosine. I have other autoimmune issues, so I will likely never get to below 60 but it is still dropping after 1.5 years so who knows how low I can get it. I have 'normal' levels of all the other measures, but want to avoid eventual failure of my thyroid due to Autoimmune Thyroiditis. You might want to use Google Scholar for a search of peer reviewed studies and medical journals articles that deal with what tests are needed and what results mean. The 'normals' ranges are so huge, they are obviously not optimal for each individual.
So sorry to hear about your doggie, sufferlandrian. They are family too.
I will share a few pix when I return home.....Bryce and Zion were spectacular although no snow for a bit of frosting on the rock features. Definitely the best time of the year to visit. Only a few people hiking around and the bluest sky making for a great contrast with the red and pink rock. Took the red-eye to Fort Lauderdale last night.....mainly slept on the beach and bought a few groceries for our efficiency Deco-style motel near Las Olas Beach today. Tomorrow we are off to the Everglades for a walk along the trails. Gator spotting, lol. Taking a SUP tour around the mangrove preserve in the Intercoastal Waterway the day after. Manatee spotting, if we are extremely lucky.
Waving hi at you, Jenn ( when you wake up )2 -
Looking forward to photos from the vacation. I won't be able to take a vacation for some time. I'll just live vicariously through your vacations.0
-
@canadjineh That website is full of info, thank you!!
@sufferlandrian I'm so sorry to hear about you doggie. *hugs*
And I won't be on vaca for awhile either. I got credit bills that need to be paid down some more. I'm started to venture towards a low carb diet...pray for me1 -
Hey Bethanie, LCarb is where it's at. I've been low carb for 4 years now and it's great for satiety while keeping lean. It's also good for the brain, and insulin/blood glucose levels.
There's a few elite level athletes using it as well, if your body converts fat to burn efficiently, you don't bonk and need refueling like carb loading athletes do.0 -
We lucked out and saw manatees at Everglades Nat. Park at the Flamingo end of the South road. The park and also the Keys show a fair bit of damage from Irmageddon (their name) and the visitor center at Flamingo and other facilities there were closed. We got a reduced charge at a couple of the state parks in the Keys due to some limited facilities as well. I held a 4 y.o. gator at John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park that the ranger brought over. It was a lovely animal, the skin on its throat and belly was so soft. Stand up paddle boarding was awesome today. We did a nice little tour on Middle River in Ft Lauderdale and saw lovely white ibis and of course, basking iguanas. We had a great guide named Gemma and if you are ever down there definitely do a tour with Sunrise Paddleboarding, we had never SUP'd but she made it especially easy to pick up. Tonight is a full moon tour but all 30 spots were sold out They give you glow necklaces and lights and apparently it's lots of fun. I think our pictures are on their FB page by now..... You might see us there. I have a bright aqua Everglades paddle shirt and a Tilly Canadian Armed Forces hat on. Our tour had 6 of us, a family of 4 and we two.

I had to do a post mortem exam on a Manatee in Guantanamo Bay. It was kind of freaky. The thing was too big to lift out of the water so we got it into the shallows and did the dissection. Every time one of the scavenger fish bumped our legs we thought it was one of the sharks coming in for a bite. The Manatee had been hit by a boat and the nasal passages filled with blood. They can't mouth breath well enough so he suffocated. That was sad. They were able to look at the videos of the harbor since it was monitored and is a no wake zone. They found the boat that hit her and the guy lost his boating privileges on the base as well as had to pay a large fine.0
