So I finally broke down and paid a moving company to come and take most of my mom's stuff. I think if I had tried to do it all myself it just would've never gotten done, tbh. It's sad, but I admit that I feel lighter for it.1

Good move. Sometimes it's worth the money to be free of a burden.2

No pets at the moment (too much travel) but we are 'aunt & uncle' to the neighbour's tuxedo cat, Lily. She comes to our place for a chat, a petting, and some mousing, then goes back home to be fed and poop, lol. (We have the best 'niece', )
It's been 22C here the past couple days and more sun to come! This Saturday we are off to an outdoor Beer & Cider Festival with live music and food trucks and over 75 different beers & ciders to taste - we each have 10 125 ml. 'tasting tokens' to use and a mini stein (125 ml.) as a souvenier. More can be bought, but I think we may go easy because we aren't staying overnight - we need to drive home. Legally. Safely.
Already there is a fire ban in place in the center of the province - Cariboo/Chilcotin. Not campfires yet, but burning barrels, fireworks, etc. That's where all the big fires were last time.0 -
I hope it's a much less eventful fire season everywhere. Last year was crazy.0

Last year was crazy when it came to fires! Everytime I thought we were bad I looked at the map and saw somewhere else getting completely scorched. We don't have a normal snowpack so that has me concerned this year is going to be worse.0

So I've been chatting with my landlady, and I think I've settled on an English bulldog. I was afraid she'd think it was too big, but she thinks it's ok. Now, if they just weren't so expensive! Even from a rescue, they're $500-600!1

I'm so excited for you! I wanna see a photo.

My friend in Arizona has two Bullies. The are a bit of a bother to care for as they have breathing problems, issues with skin folds, and difficulty drinking from regular water bowls because of their large heads and shape of their jaws. They are cute though. She had to get a raised 'fountain waterer' for hers. She had three but one died of cancer.
Gonna be 26C here tomorrow and Sat! Woot Woot!! Summah is on its way!

Are you sure? They have a lot of health problems and are expensive to keep healthy. I had a vet friend who said if he could see only english bulldogs and cocker spaniels, the skin problems alone would keep him in new cars every year.0 -

Just because a dog might have a lot of health problems doesn't mean they shouldn't be put in a loving home where someone can be there for him or her. I would get an English Bulldog in a heart beat if I was allowed to have another animal where I live. I already have a dog and 2 cats lol. My dream dog is a black Pitbull though.0 -
Hm. I researched them several years ago and have loved them a long time, but I think I kind of glossed over the potential problems in my mind. I appreciate the heads up and will definitely take that into consideration.0

@curvycaloriess - Honestly, I'd love a pit bull, too, I think they're awesome dogs. But my landlady doesn't like them. Maybe someday.
I'm leaning back towards the French bulldog at this point.0 -
I love Frenchies.1

BTW, the crush situation seems to be going well. Slowly moving forward.3
