I had a nice workout and I didn't eat much today so I had a lot of calories left over.
  • Have to admit, I'm having a hard time putting down the wine glass this week. I threw my back out on Monday, and while I am doing much better now, I am unable to work out until at least next week. Now, a reasonable person would say "I can't work out, so I'm going to be extra dilligent about my calories." Me? I say, " I can't work out, so what's the point? Bring on the pizza and wine!!" Tonight it was sushi with a large hot saki (num!) then I came home to the tail end of a (big) bottle of chard and a glass of pinot from a bottle already open. Not sure what tomorrow will bring (probably the end of the pinot) but Sunday will be a blow out because I am going to my moms and.....well, I'm going to my moms! That's what we DO there! Plus, you know....FOOTBALL! SOOOOOOOOOO, I'm thinking Monday is a good day to try to be reasonable again.

I have to say, I love reading the threads for this group. It makes me feel better, knowing I'm not the only one!!!
  • What a fun message board! Loved reading through your posts. My drink of choice is champagne! No, not the expensive stuff, I am perfectly happy with Brut, in fact, really happy, LOL. Wine gives me a headache and I've just always liked champagne and one day it dawned on me, why do I have to wait for a special occasion to have champagne? So when I order champagne and people ask me what I'm celebrating, I just tell them "TODAY"! My daughter's were in town Labor Day weekend and we went to a champagne brunch and then on to wineries for tastings and later drank some of our purchases in the hot tub.....................whew, it was a fun weekend, so I decided like some of you on this board, to try not to drink for a while to see if I could kick my weight loss up a notch. I weigh-in tomorrow at WW and definitely plan on breaking out the bubbly this weekend!

    Hello everybody!!

I went back and reread my posts - I have been alcohol free for 5 days!!!! Still trying to follow Atkins - The ketostix have only changed to a very pale pink, and only once!!! Talk about frustrating. The scale has been bouncing up and down. Once day I've lost 3.5 pound the next day I'm back up. I see no visible changes & I feel crappy. AAAARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!! Seriously I think I liked drinking a whole lot better. :drinker:

To one and all have a wonderful happy healthy day!!!!
  • Hey everyone; am celebrating with my promised gin & tonic and boy does it taste good after 2 weeks abstinence!!:drinker: It was weigh in day today. The sad news was that there was no weight loss, the good news was that there was no weight gain; the really fab news was that I had lost 2ins from my waist and 1.5ins from my hips. My target is a loss of 1lb per week, so having lost 3lbs in week 1, I am still on target. Having said that, I am not going to stress about what the scales say but am going to concentrate on how I feel and today I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!!!  Am going to continue with the healthy eating and exercise and see what happens.

Mom - sorry about the frustration - suggest you stay off the scales for a few days and see if that makes you feel better.

Hi HerbieSue - like your drink of choice!!

MVLaurel - sorry about your back and hope you feel better on MOnday; in the meantime don't stress about the calories-you're allowed to comfort eat under the circumstances!

Good luck every one and happy chillaxing over the weekend.

Was convinced I'd put on weight this week as I've not exercised much due to not feeling too good. It's hard to explain but I have just been feeling fatter. Anyway I have maintained my weight, I'm beginning to think my scale only knows how to show 1 number! My goal is to maintain so that's fine but most days I am under my calories and when I click complete diary it calculates that I should still be losing but I'm not.

Oldbat well done to you  That inch loss is great. I've found that's important to me as it affects how your clothes fit and in turn how I feel.

i am lately really good about drinking (responsible and bye bye to binging) however I am in italy at present time working.
yesterdays lunch included 3 bottles of wine and then sorbetto vodkas . Saying no does not work, and part of my job is networking / entertainment.

    sigh

better go run on the beach tomorrow

    Legendary drinking in Chicago.
I opened a bottle of Liano last night when I got home, to have a drink with my husband - who took great care of the girls while I was away (even took them to Ballet Class!)
Since the wine is open - I'll need to finish it.... so hopefully no drinking from TOMORROW night onward!
  • So now am into healthy eating plan after the two week kick start. Enjoyed the two gin & tonics I allowed myself over the weekend but back to no alcohol now until Saturday. Am feeling great and as long as I don;t go mad tonight I shall end the day within my calorie allocation of 1400. Managed 90 minutes of fairly heavy duty gardening earlier today so have burnt off a few calories in addition to 45 minutes on WiiFit Plus (Free step and rhythm boxing). Best of luck everyone at the start of a new week!!!

Another weekend in the books without a drink ... I think I am too full of water for anything else to FIT. I am worried about this next weekend though ... Oktoberfest and I LOVE the Angel City Beer ... ugh! I am going to try though. Other then the 1 shot of sake and the couple sips of Ouzo (at the Greek fest) I have been alcohol free Since Sept. 1

Kim - have a great time in Vegas - I will PM you so we can try to have a drink next weekend when I am up in your neck of the woods.

Yvonne - sweeten up those kids of yours with the chocolate! Save yourself, sacrafice the kids:tongue:

Pam - incredible will power. good job.

for me Monday = 0 drinks and I wasn't missing it.

So to everyone - keep strong when you need to be strong and resist temptation - and then drink proudly with your head held high when you want to drink. We control this and it is our choice.

Down another 3lbs this morning and I think if I were still drinking Vodka I wouldn't be ... so I am going to keep going on the No Alcohol but seriously, all bets are off on Sunday the26th when I go to Oktoberfest. I may have to "treat" myself to 1

I had 3 miller lites and watched the first season of Weeds last night. Overall it worked into my calories budget because I ran on the treadmill. Tonight there will be wine at a reading so I will probably have some...
  • Managed another two nights without alcohol; will treat myself to a drink with dinner on Saturday and Sunday. Have done loads of gardening the last two days plus WiiFit workouts and a pilates class this evening. Am feeling pooped so should sleep very well tonight. Keep up the good work fellow lushes. :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

it happens. don't beat yourself up.

    Monday =0
    Tuesday = 0
Last night I had to keep telling myself I really didn't want a drink, that I was just falling into habit. I successfully convinced myself not to drink.

    Hello Everybody!!!

I am still following atkins - and yes the scale is still bouncing like crazy! Still no visible changes in my body - but I'm trying really hard to be patient. Over the week-end of Oct. 1st I will be spending a lot of time with extended family. (Karen are you listening?) That means TONS of Italian & Greek food, more liquor than you can imagine. Total debauchery!!!!And yes, planned lushness!!!

    yesterday 144lb
today 146.2 it is enough to make me scream!:explode: :explode: :explode:

Oh well......I wish you all a wonderful night!!!!!

Had a JD and diet coke whilst waiting for my daughter at football practice last night, it was just too tempting whilst I was hiding inside in the warmth by the bar. I did cycle there and back so I burned off the calories anyway. Plus opened a bottle of red to put some in last nights dinner and I haven't touched it since. I've been pretty good by my recent standards

I always think I cook better food if I do so with a glass of wine in my hand. Trouble is there isn't always that much left to drink with the meal by the time it's cooked. Maybe it's not that I make better food, it's that I'm too drunk to worry what it tastes like :drinker:
