Why the fitness culture on Social Media needs to die

as a Facebook fitness page owner, I disagree with what was written. Are there people out there like that? Sure. Don't like them? Don't "like" their page and follow them. We aren't all like that. In fact, the ones I follow aren't at all. We AIM to be helpful and hope to inspire others, not to make them feel guilty.

What do you expect from a site called "Elite Daily: Voice for Generation Y"?0

Using what is essentially a fitness/diet social media platform to complain about fitness culture on social media ....hmmm.
LMAO the glory of the internet. People use the internet to complain about the internet. Best thing ever.
Inception...fitness style.0 -
absolutely insane article. Why be on myfitnesspal if you agree?0
-
Personally, I see the chicken and asparagus pictured as "happy" because it looks yummy and would give me lots of energy.0

 This was "not srs" article people! :laugh:Kayla Inglima
Kayla is an intellectual, comical, organized mess. She believes that filters are only for coffee & Instagram - hence she says what is on her mind at all times. She likes sushi and wine and being cynical while remaining a likable human. Graduating from Monmouth University in New Jersey, she now seems to put that Communication degree to good use. Find her on the Elite Daily "Who We Are" page, Facebook, Twitter and, most importantly, Instagram (@kayglee), where she has a variety of awesome photos of food and other shenanigans.
She was trying to use humor to state a point she believes. I say trying because it wasn't actually funny.
Also this. I saw no indication that it was satire, just that she thinks she's being funny.
What IS funny, though, is that she more than likely wrote her own bio. She describes herself as "intellectual" and then writes:Graduating from Monmouth University in New Jersey, she now seems to put that Communication degree to good use.
That is one of the most poorly-crafted sentences I've ever read.
Perhaps, it was satirical... since she thinks she is humorous.0 -
Whatever :smokin:
That chicken and asparagus looks good btw........0 -
I love all of these things, especially neon and my meal planning (although I outsource the work)...ehhh if you don't like it's so easy to not follow {shrugs}
My friend said, "What's with everyone wearing neon?" (or something like that).
I was stumbling over my words trying to figure out why it bothered her enough to mention it, and talking about how most workout clothes are bright colors, probably to make people more visible outdoors and then I realized she actually asked why a lot of people wore KNEE SOCKS. (The runner was wearnig knee socks.)0 -

and ironic. considering she claims to be the proud owner of a "Communication" degree. lulz.
BTW, isn't it called a Communications degree anyway? with an 's' at the end? double lulz.0 -
I've never had a better reason to use the 'barfing kitten' gif
She needs to get her money back from whatever school gave her a degree in communication.0 -
honestly, she sounds like a hater.0

Whatever :smokin:

Right? That looked great. Maybe we just think differently...a lot differently.0 -

Completely agree! I have my own Facebook fitness page, too. I post things that I feel will help people stay motivated, become less confused, or feel good about what they are currently doing.
I have friends that post the funny memes making fun of the people who post workouts or food or fitness related things. However, those are the same folks who post about all the drama in their life and constantly get people worked up over things that don't really matter.0 -

LMFAO...that was great..although I feel real bad for the kitty.0 -

mad props! The ones who make fun of others irk me to no end.0 -
Gotta love all of those who complain about what people post on social media. You don't have to follow/read/whatever.
I once saw a friend go on a tirade about people who post pictures of their food. That night she posted pictures of all the beers she was drinking. They all looked the same. Light beer in a stein. But I guess it is ok since beer is not food? :drinker:0 -
Whatever :smokin:

Yup, that is good quality food porn right there....0 -
She could just unfriend or unfollow these people so her feed isnt cluttered with their garbage.
Just another case of someone whining about what some of their thousand so-called friends post.
My facebook feed doesn't bother me because it actually is full of my friends, not just every person I've ever met at a bar or event. I also screen adds and delete people who preach **** I'm not interested in.0 -
The only thing about fitness-social-media is the horrendous barrage of broscience that comes along with it.0

Well whoever wrote this article clearly has on their 'Pissy Pants'. I am on Instagram as Seewithyourmindaswellyoureyes and love following #FitFam peeps as to me, is a motivator, I learn new stuff. I am an IG overposter and I meal prep, I take pics of food, my nakedness, and really admire #FitFam people. The person who wrote this article needs a Time Out:drinker:0

I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I just don't agree with hers. I'd far rather see fitness posts on Facebook (not that I actually see what she blabs on about) than a lot of the other rubbish I get on my feed. But I just don't read what I'm not interested in.
If the author chooses to be whiny and jealous about those kind of posts rather than take motivation from them, then seriously her loss.0 -
That is the worst article I have ever read, the author sounds insanely jelly
^^ this.0 -

True. I also find chicken and asparagus to be close to the perfect lead-in to ice cream or pumpkin pie.0 -
I love how if it was to do with junk food, booze, marijuana, partying and so on, it's socially acceptable. However, make healthy choices, take care of yourself and be proud and we now are part of a cult. All I have to say is continue to hate and be jealous! I'd take looking like her form of 'gross' any day. It's always the people who lack the control and motivation to do what us fitfam members do. We'd have a lot more healthy people in the world if they would just join our cult!!!!!! *off to recruit"!
Your hate motivates me haters, keep it up!0 -
Like most articles, it's just link bait...unfortunately, I took the bait and clicked..now I want chicken and asparagus and to make out with a lifting woman wearing neon while taking photos of us doing curls and posting memes.0

When I was on FB I would do Fitness Posts of my workouts and had a good friend from my youth post a rude pic of 'Not everyone is interested in your workout unless you fall and slam you face on the treadmill', I deleted her and later my account as FB is just not for me, I do not care you just checked into Walmart...lol0 -
I do follow quite a few fitness related pages on FB, it helps keep me motivated, though I don't post selfies myself. And as for chicken and asparagus making her sad, then obviously she's not preparing it correctly. Looking forward to grilling up some this weekend, along with some salmon and red potatoes.0
