so yesterday, i spend 2 hours at the gym. A couple of months ago I was afraid to even walk by the gym's door! it's such a dumb thing to be proud of but i am, lol18

Before if I had trouble sticking to my calories for a small amount of time (ie getting sick, travelling, etc) I would get totally unfocused and gain weight back and have to start over later. This time I'm going strong, just letting my new habits take over again without letting a few days throw me off!18

I like that my colleagues don't comment on my weight loss and we focus instead on talking about workout achievements, goals, ambitions etc.5 -
a meeting ran late and I missed yoga last night. So I got on my bike and went for an hour ride.19

After 8 years of international work travel and thousands of hotels, I finally built up the courage last evening to go to the hotel gym.
I was nervous, truthfully. And i stayed nervous but acted as if i belonged there, fat *kitten* or none.
Fake it 'til you make it!
Almost time now for me to head off there again shortly. Feeling quite SMUG!30 -

my wedding ring fell right off my finger last week. I had just washed my hands, and was shaking them dry. It just missed rolling under a huge filing cabinet.
So today, I am wearing my engagement ring to hold it in place as it is a size and a half smaller, but even that is now spinning around my finger! I think I will get a fake ring in the mean time before I am ready to re-size!13 -
Went clothes shopping. Three out of four pants THREE WHOLE SIZES smaller fit.16

Thanks. It still makes me grin every time I think about it. But, real runners would laugh at a 36-minute 5K. Next year, my goal is to make it in 30 minutes or less. It won't be the same daughter. She aged out this year. It will be my youngest, who wanted to do it with us this year, but was too young.6 -

I haven't really been losing any weight recently but I've continued to lose inches in certain places. But this weekend I stayed at a friend's house and her bathroom mirror goes down much further than mine so I could actually see my belly in the mirror. I can't believe how much thinner I look (about 24 lbs down). I haven't made any significant change in size. I've lost about 1 dress size, but I can really see it in my love handles! It was definitely a boost of confidence I needed for the day!19

Between quitting smoking 6 months ago and being able to exercise as a result, my stamina and my lung strength have both increased. I'm easily managing on one dose of my asthma maintenance meds instead of barely managing off 2+ doses a day (yes, I was an idiot and smoked for 11 years even though I had asthma), AND I only need my rescue inhaler once if I'm exercising (as a preventative measure...maaaaybe a second time after if it's a really hard workout), whereas before I was very limited in what I could do without having a full-blown asthma attack. For months I've been afraid to work out, especially this particular Zumba video, because the last time I did it I almost ended up in the hospital (even though it had been 3 months since I had quit smoking). Now I'm working out 3+ days/week and enjoy that same Zumba video!30

Oh I almost forgot, how could I?! On Saturday I successfully completed Murph. For those of you who don't know what Murph is, it is as follows:
1 mile run
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
1 mile run
*I did ring rows instead of pull ups as I'm not yet strong enough to do a pull up.
I thought I was going to need 2 hours to complete the whole thing, but I did it in under 1hr 30 minutes! I can't run a mile and by the 2nd mile my legs were fried, but I ran walked and pushed through! It was great! I was hurting on Sunday lol. But the good hurt!27 -

Just finished a 3 day backpacking trip with Hubs & a friend in a wilderness area with lots of scrambling & I feel great! Also, my glasses keep falling off & I have to keep tightening them!11

That's awesome! Wanting to go backpacking is what triggered to finally get my butt in gear after years of desperate attempts to lose weight. For the first time, I'm focusing on something other than the scale and it feels amazing (and it's working, slowly but surely, without it feeling like torture, lol!)6 -
Inhaled a large insect into my left nostril while running. Instead of stopping and freaking out I continued to run and freaked out. Damn lightning bugs.32

The neighbour kids across the road invited me to go on a evening walk with them- 3 kids under 10 and mom and dad. Then they said-"we do the stairs". And I was able to say-Sure-just let me change my shoes.
2 months ago I couldn't have done the stairs with them-today no problem on the stairs at all-well the kids ran up but I walked up without rest. A huge set of stairs up a very steep hill. My secret- I have been walking lots and often doing these stairs-sometimes slowly with rests, but it all has helped.22 -

I was on vacation all last week, so I was proud that yesterday I got right back into my workout routine!
And this one is kinda scale related, but it's a big deal for me, I finally hopped on the scale yesterday for the first time after getting back and I was actually lighter than when I left (not my lowest I've been since the weight loss journey started though). And I ate horribly pretty much all week and consumed lots of alcohol! I did manage to get in some type of physical activity everyday while there, so I guess that helped. I really expected to come back heavier and was just hoping for it not to be too out of control, so I'm happy that this proves you can indulge a little and it not completely ruin all your hard work.11 -
I took my shirt off at a big pool party this weekend (40+ people), and didn't feel ashamed. It was the first time in years. I have a little more to go to reach my first goal, but wow did it feel good. No stress of what to wear, no stress of wanting to make an excuse to avoid the party. No wondering if people were judging me. Just a nice, fun and relaxing day at the pool. It gave me even more motivation to keep going.22

Tonight (hitting 3 in a row at the hotel gym!) I faced the cross trainer for the first time in 8 years.
In fact, when I finished my intended session, I took a 1 minute break for breath and water, and then did another short session!14 -
This doesn't sound like much, but I was able to carry my instrument from my car to the music room without putting it down or switching hands.
Keep in mind my baritone saxophone is 5 ft long and about 45 pounds in the case, and I had a backpack and folder in my hands. I was happy.
But it DOES sound like 'much'. Isn't this why we try to lose weight and get fit? So that we can have calm, manageable, long, healthy, happy lives?
So you're providing yourself with evidence that you're doing it. Well done.14 -

I did 35 consecutive pushups last night. I realize that’s not a huge number, but I think it’s an accomplishment for a guy who still weighs 264lbs.31
