Pam – As a Quebecoise myself I understand the new girl in your family. Every time I meet an Acadian I think that they’re an English person doing a really bad job at speaking French, then when I realize they don’t speak English I know they must be Acadian.
I love that your family calls it frenglish, in Quebec we use the French version which is franglais!
Oh and I love that your cousin named her girls after the Bronte sisters, my next issue beside having an original bilingual name was that I wanted it to be an artist’s name. This was why I was extra happy about Matisse.

Heather – What got you motivated to start your weight loss in the first place? Mine was a combo of pictures and the fact that I hit the obese category rather than just being overweight. If it was something like pictures, I’d post that specific fat pic of yourself on the fridge so that every time you want a snack you are reminded why you should have a healthy one. Trying on your skinny clothes can work too, whatever triggered your weight loss will be the most motivational for you.

Jalara – If I remember correctly didn’t she give him an engagement ultimatum? Or was that a rumor? Oh and the girl from Montreal was actually from the West Island, not quite in Montreal.

Alissa – Glad to hear you had a good evening with your man.

Rappla88 – Welcome! This is a great group of very supportive girls!

Pmaria – Glad to hear the clot was just that! Keep us posted!

Well - All was well....until lunch, I decided i needed to go shopping on my lunch to get some more warm stuff to pack for our trip to Ohio next week....so I went to Target and got a fleece jacket, hat and gloves, a long sleeve button down and some more OPK's to get thru the rest of this cycle....Then hunger struck:devil: ...so I went thru the Drivethru @ Wendy's:grumble: ....It quite possibly could have been the most delicious burger i have ever eaten in my whole life  Just finished eating and only have 70 calories left for the day....

Rappla88 - Welcome! Don't be shy just jump right into the convo!

Kkulhy - Good luck getting thru the next few days! I hope this is your month!

PMaria - I am glad to hear everything is going well! Hopefully more of us will be joining you soon!

Tomorrow is my last day of work...I know i have probably said that a million and one times .... but i can't help it i am SO excited!! I am also getting excited for the ball that we have on Friday! My dress should be done at the alterations lady tomorrow and we're staying the night in a hotel and it's going to be great! Can't wait to post pictures!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome!! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!! I've been reading some of the older posts and trying to catch up so I can figure out who everyone is.. I'll get the hang of it!! Got my p90x wo in tonight I took 4-5 days off last week and over the weekend... I was in Disney World for a few days with my in-laws and my husbands little brother (who's 12). We had a great time, but I was soooo tired. We got back sunday and I was hoping to be back to my workouts yesterday but I just didn't have the energy.... and we had to go grocery shopping and all of that fun stuff... so today I'm finally back on track!! I'm so close to finishing this I feel like I can't stop now... although I need a little extra motivation, which is why I found you guys!!! Keep me focused on the ultimate goal!!! Hope everyone had a great day and I'll try to post more tomorrow and get to know you better!!!

My hubs just called and P has soccer practice tonight so he asked if I wanted to come home and change into work out clothes and he and i are going to walk while P is practicing...I thought that was really sweet:heart: . He said when he was on the boat he was running 2-4miles a day so he's all into this work out stuff now...Maybe i'll burn off some of those extra calories that Wendy's put on today!

Yay for your positive OPK! I literally jumped up and down the first time I got a  on my test the month I conceived (this past Sept). Start that baby dancin! lol!

Well...today I woke up and just felt like my body is fighting some sickness! Sore throat, tingly sinuses, and achy body. Despite feeling poopy I still managed to eat awesome and worked out according to plan. Got in my hour of toning with Tracy Anderson Method and then did an hour and 15 mins of spinning. I was worried I was going to not do so well but got a boost of energy. So all in all it was a successful day. I don't get sick so I think my body's immune system is working overtime to fight whatever is bringing me down!

Only 9 more days until I fly down to Alabama to be with my hubby! I got my Clomid today which I'll start on my next cycle (which should be around Dec 1st). I'm SOOO not looking forward to the horrible side effects of the clomid, but if it results in a baby, then I'll do it with a smile!

Glad everyone had a pretty good day! GO US!

Pam - I had people tell me that at my heaviest they thought i weighted no more than 160. I freaking wish!!!!

Alisa - yea for hubby getting home safe!!!

    Welcome Rappla88!!!!

Pmaria - I'm glad everything is going well for you. keep us updated!

jalara - yea for + OPK

heather - I hope you feel better. I give you a lot of credit for still working out. When I don't feel good I have such a hard time with that.

I am exhausted!! AF showed up today with a vengeance. I'm sleepy, cranky and starving. I managed not to give in to the chocolate....i guess i should say peanut butter....monster inside of me. But I think it was just because I was too tired to get off the sofa. No exercise today, but Zumba killed me last night. There's two instructors, the one that taught last night is the lead teacher and she kicked my butt!!! I was dripping with sweat when we were done. I really need to get a HRM, i swear i burned more than the 342 calories MFP calculated for me.

YAY Jalara!!!! You might want to change that silly old ticker

Y'all have me so anxious about these OPKs that I might go out and pick up a few for Dec (I'm on the provera now...so hopefully AF will show up sometime between now and then). If I'm doing all this work to get the hormones in check, I might as well see if I get anything in December (specially since DH's surgery we ACTUALLY have a sort of chance as of Dec 19  )

Pam – I’m small boned and pear shaped so most people notice how small my shoulders are and assume that the rest of me should be smaller too. My friends get surprised when I’d pull out a size 12pants and a medium top. Don’t worry too much about it, you are doing this for you!

Jalara – Happy BD! I’ve never done the OPK’s but I’m sure like everyone said, it’s a good feeling to get a +.

Heather – As a big spinner, do you have any advice for me on the subject, I only jump on my stationary 1-2 week because it really hurts my bum! Sorry to all for giving too much info, but it does hurt and is the reason I don’t do it more often. I was told that I would get used to it, but I’ve been doing this for a couple months now and I’m still not used to it! My seat is bigger than most too, I made sure to not get a tiny seat in fear of exactly this. Any advice you or anyone can give is appreciated.

Last night’s taebo was awful! My body is so sore from working out that I had absolutely no energy for my class last night! I did go and stay the entire class, but let’s just say that my kicks weren’t as high and my punches were kinda weak! I decided to give my legs a bit of a rest and do something a little more geared towards my upper body tonight. I think I might just do Pilates tonight so that my abs get a workout and my legs can rest a bit.

On the TTC front, I should be o’ing soon enough too this cycle, so please spread that baby dust my way, I really don’t want to start cycle 15 still TTC.

Thanks all! The positive I got last night was from a test strip for Early PRegnancy Tests.com, and this morning I got a happy face from Clear Blue :) Happy faces make me happy :)

Pam - I'll update my ticker after I O.... it should be tomorrow if my calculations are correct.... fingers crossed! And may I just say that Fertility Friend keeps me sane!

Meeting my friend at the gym after work today. I haven't made it yet this week, but that's going to chnge now.

Alisa- how long is DH home for?

Hope things are well for everyone this morning!

Morning ladies! Today is my last day of work for a bit...No interviews set up just yet but i'm going to remain calm and hope the when we get back from Ohio after thanksgiving that I will have stuff set up or I'll start passing out resumes!
Soccer practice got cancelled yesterday so we just took a family walk around the block. It was still nice, just didn't burn as many calories as i would have hoped! I ended up DOUBLING my calories. I absolutely need to get my butt in gear! This eating thing has gotten out of control!

Jalara - The Hubs will be home now until he deploys. Currently that is tentativly scheduled for the early part of february (somewhere between the 1-10th?) It will be nice to have him home for the holidays and tons of happy family time before he leaves for 7months.

Sending baby dust to both Abeare and Jalara! Hopefully this will be you guys's month too! You guys can be baby buddies! :-)

    WOW busy board lately....

Pam - I am the same way...No one would ever believe me when I told them how much I weighed. I was always told I "hold it well" umm is that supposed to be a complement?

Alisa - Wendy's is my ultimate favorite!! That is one place I cannot stay away from! Spicy Chicken sandwich....yummm...
Have a great time in OH! It has been cold up this way. (I'm in MI)

Welcome Rappla88!!!! Nice to meet you!

jalara - YAY!! for + I have been testing for the last couple days and nothing yet.

heather - I am right there with you. I just started feeling something coming on these last few days. I really hope my body fights it off before it gets worse. I don't really have time to be sick. Good job on still working out, I know that is the last thing I want to do right now.

AnneElise- My DH doesn't work out with me either. Thank goodness I have my Zumba classes!

Abeare and Jalara- BABY DUST YOUR WAY!!

Me- I am completely exhausted this week. Our renter is moving in this Saturday, but that means LOTS to do before then. We have been at the house till 11-12p the past few nights and that does not help when I have to get up for work! Then, last night, DH decided he was going to finally turn on the hot water heater, and noticed that there was a leak. So needless to say he did some calling around to fine some one to replace it very quickly! He had to call into work today because he found some one that could come and do it between 12:30-3:00 today! (Gotta love those small time frames, lol) But I guess it's good that it will be done and new, so we don't have to worry about it later down the road. I will be going over there when I get out of work tonight and hopefully starting to deep-clean everything.
Eating has been pretty good lately. I went to Sam's Club and got some healthy snacks and a rotisserie chicken. It is the best chicken I have ever had, and it lasts DH and I a few days of lunches. I haven't been to Zumba since Saturday, but I will get back on track with working out once the house is done. I really don't have time to do anything else. I also feel like poo, with a scratchy throat, running nose, and sore body.
I have been OPK testing for the past few days (CD 10 & 11) and nothing yet. I doubt I am even Oing yet after the Depo, but I guess it doesn't hurt to test.

TTFN I have to get back to work...I guess LOL:wink:
  • OMG I've been MIA for a few days and have soooo much "homework" to do catching up with you ladies! I noticed right off the bat that there's a BFP on the board! Jalara congrats!!! Soooo happy for you!

I'm off to the doctor for my first conversation with him about my single mom by choice decision and see what comes next. I'll update you later after I've had a minute to read a few pages of posts!

    Happy day, happy day!!!!

Thanks for the baby dust everyone! Let’s hope it works!

My goals to focus on my weight loss is doing well, I’ve exercised everyday this week so far, staying within my cals, drinking lots of water (and green tea too), and bringing in all my lunches! I decided to weigh myself this morning to see if there has been any physical change and yup I’ve lost ½ a pound, so now I’m that much more motivated to loose the other half or even an additional pound would be nice.
I think I’ll be taking a week off the first week of December and hope with that to get all my x-mas shopping done and to get some extra workouts in too. If I can do as good on my time off as I do on a workday I’ll reach my 10lbs goals by 2011 for sure!

    Best luck everyone!
  • Okay Lesson learned... DON'T POST UNTIL YOU'VE CAUGHT UP ON THE BOARD!!! Jalara - I'm very excited for your positive OPK result, but when I saw KCurtis say "Yay for +" I thought it was THE positive!!! But I'm sure that's next anyway!! fx

And I missed out on the baby name talk but I enjoyed reading your answers! I'm stuck on a boys name. I want a name that no one else has and for the longest time I wanted Grayson, but in the last few years it's become more popular so that's out. I'm thinking about Egan now, but we'll see. Middle name will be William Anthony (William for my mom who's maiden name was Williams and Anthony was my dad's first name - but he went by Tony).

For a girl I'm in love with Faren. Not set on a middle name yet though. Maybe Bea for my grandma or Elise which is my middle name. We'll see. I've got time! And the good thing about being a single mom by choice is I don't have to have anyone else veto my choices!

Pam: I am often thought to be lighter than I actually am too. I know I do have a lot of muscle - I'm built like my dad, and I am very strong for a girl (no offense ladies LOL). My weight in my twenties was always between 125-130 but I think as I approach 40, that's too thin for me to be a goal. I'll settle for 145. Currently I'm stuck hovering around the 168-172 range (was at 158-162 just this summer so I got some work to do pronto!). I went to curves to try it out and they assessed me as Obese. I didn't go back. I mean, I know I have about 20 lbs to lose or so, but my BMI is lik 26-27ish - NOT obese! I think they try to scare you into signing up!

Anyway, way too much to catch up on here and I'd be writing a book if I replied to everyone individually. Love the alphabet dating game though I have to say. Wish I was in a relationship so I could play! LOL

Also, I love that my ticker says "You are ovulating". Too funny! I guess I'll expect a temp jump tomorrow!

There are cushioned seats you can buy at stores like walmart. They are in the bike section (usually by the toys). Personally I don't think they make that much of a difference. With spinning your bottom will be uncomfortable, but you are also standing on the bike which gives some relief. If I had to sit on a stationary bike for longer than 5 mins I'd go nuts. I'm definitely a group workout kinda person. Loud music and the energy from the class pumps me up! You do get used to the sore bottom (mine is still tender from Tuesday). In a spinning class you can burn an enormous amount of calories so it is a lot easier to get used to it. I know I've not been that much of a help....sorry. :indifferent: I highly recommend everyone try a spin class at least once. I was petrified of it when I was at my biggest. I've got bad knees though and it is an awesome workout for people that have knee issues cause it is low impact.

Well Thursdays are my official "weigh in" day and I lost 1lb this week (well actually I lost 5lbs cause I kept jumping from 148 to 152 depending on what I ate) and am at a solid 147. Before my vacation and Clomid/pregnancy/miscarriage in September I was 142-146. So I'm almost back to where I started! I changed my goals though for my weight. Originally I wanted so badly to be at 135. I've never in my adult life been that small so I think that I why I plucked that magic number out of the air. I've decided to go with 138-142 (I'm 5'6.5" and has a medium build with muscle). I feel sexy and healthy and strong at 140 and I know my body fluctuates about 5lbs day to day.

I know this sounds funny but I can't wait until I get to start peeing on sticks again! lol! When I got my first smiley face ever I was absolutely elated...and that just told me I ovulated, not that I was pregnant! lol! I'm really not looking forward to the Clomid (I know I've said this before....). Weight gain is a result of the medication so I'm hoping in the next 2 weeks I'll be back down to the 140ish range.

Still feeling a little under the weather. More like medicine head since I took some nyquil last night (that stuff is great for sleeping, horrible for the heavy head the next day!). Not feeling so achy today so I'm going to get my hour of toning with Tracy Anderson method and then go to Spinning this evening.

Hoping for a wonderful day for everyone!

Yesterday was girls night out. We had a few celebrations so it was dinner than the bingo hall (I was the only one who had gone before). Dinner was nice although we all agreed that next time we'll just grab something at the bingo hall. I got grilled chicken breasts in balsamic cream sauce but by about quarter of the meal, it became evident that I would not be finishing my meal so I focused on the chicken and left most of the mashed potatoes and green beans (I love Kelsey's chicken, what can I say). At bingo, my stomach was still os unreasonably full that all I had was soda water. But it was great seeing my girls again and celebrating together (new job, end of job, pregnancy, weight loss & new boyfriend). Only downside is that it interrupted my swim club...but I don't think there was a class yesterday anyway. We're going to do that on Saturday morning - which I'm super excited for.

Jenny: Why can't you play? It's important for people, even single people, to get back in touch and really spend time relaxing. You could still do the items....I recommend it to all my friends and a few of them do them by themselves or with a group - one of them has a group of cousins that meets once every few weeks for The Adams' Alphabet Adventures....LOL

I finally broke down and got a ring guard for my wedding rings last night. They fell off 3 times this week, in the washing machine, the laundry basket and finally in my filing cabinet at work. I was going to get them resized but I know there’s a good chance my fingers will swell when I’m pregnant, and I want to be able to wear them then. DH said he paid for them once, and if I lose them it’s on me to buy new ones. I feel a lot better now that I don’t have to keep checking my finger to make sure they’re still there.

Ahhhh...first day of just me time! I dropped P off at school and headed straight for the gym! I did 2.25miles on the elliptical in 40 min...I actually wanted to do more but felt like if i did i wouldn't be able to eat back enough of my calories...so I stopped! (burned 412 calories....Per my HRM) I was pretty impressed and motivated although now my tummy is feeling kinda icky....I'm mad bc I was supposed to wait until 1130 to go potty so I could test but i just couldn't wait....I tested anyway (even though it had only been 3 hours since i went first thing this morning and it was too early in the day) I got a O (...negative...) so now i have to wait until 2pm to test again....HOPEFULLY I get a  today...today is CD 16 which is when I got the ++ last month....so we shall see!

Next thing on my list....shopping....going to try to get some of P's Christmas shopping done today and then busting out my sewing machine to see if it works still so i can start working on my MIL's christmas gift! I'm making her an apron and REALLY don't want to sew it by hand!

Ron - Smart idea just getting the guard vs re-sizing! Planning ahead! I will probably end up having to wear mine around my neck on a necklace, they are a LITTLE lose since I've lost weight but not enough to compensate for possible swelling.

Jenny - Welcome back! Good luck with your Dr's appt! Hope you get the support you need to get the ball rolling!

Heather - there IS just something about peeing on a stick and getting a + that makes you feel good (even if it IS just that you're O'ing) :-)

The Hubster has been SUPER attentive to me, really affectionate and last night we had a long conversation about how he didn't know what he would do with out me and he's terrified i'm going to leave him while he's on deployment. I reassured him that was not even a justifiable fear. I am secretly enjoying his insecurities bc it has done WONDERS for the "passion" in our romantic life....:smooched:

    Hello,

I have been reading posts for a few days, and decided this is the group for me.....I am a 29 y/o ( almost 30 yikes) public health nurse, wife and mom. I have an active 5 yr old and had a miscarriage in April at 6 wks, very devastationg, esp to my 5 yr old, but we are now trying again....Not exactly to the point of using O kits, but just not preventing either. I am great at my wt loss efforts for about two weeks, then I just fall off the wagon and gain it back. My 30th is coming up and I really want to lose at least 5 stubborn lbs. And being really healthy for next the pregnancy is the plan. I also do alot of nutrition teaching at my job, so it is kinda nice if I " practice what I preach" so to say. I do great during the week on my healthy eating, but weekends are hard. I work 8-5 M-F so I have been trying to work out in the evening, I have found I am just not a morning workout kinda girl. Just need somewhere to be held accountable and a little motivation, looks like this is the place :)

    Hello all!

Ron - what a change! I'm so so pleased to see you being so successful! Congrats again! I would mention to hubby that maybe you deserve a new shiny decoration for all your efforts and, you know, all around greatness!

Alisa - you crack me up!

ewoodrd - Welcome! I'm sorry for your loss. I'm glad you feel like this is the place for you - welcome aboard! I'm studying nursing right now, so I preked up when you mentioned you are one. Welcome to the team!

    Heather - I AGREE TOO!!!!!

Me - so... I came up with the bright idea that me and my workout buddy should climb stairs after work for our workout. So we are climbing our affice tower (16 floors - double flights between them). I was excited earlier... but now I'm a little scared. We're going up AND down them. I don't want to sound like I'm whiney,... but stairs are hard! Me and my big mouth..... Oh well - here's hoping I survive!!

    TTC - we'll see!!!!

Alisa – your post made me laugh. I’m glad you're enjoying your hubby being home.

Ewoodrn – Welcome!!! I’m so sorry for your struggles.

Jalara – Steps are killer, but you’ll be fine. In no time you’ll be flying up and down them! And I’ve mention to DH many times that I need a new “sparkly”, but this time he pointed out all the ones I was wearing and told me the bank is broke!! :ohwell: But he did tell me that for Christmas I’m getting a gift card to my favorite clothing store and I think he convinced my mom to get me the same thing. I have a hard time buying things for myself. I always think about DH, stuff for the house or putting money in savings, so I’m really excited for gift cards!!

I really want to work on school work atv our internet isn't working (we were "borrowing" it from our neighbor and he moved to san Diego today...) so I guess I'll try to take a nap....darn Haha

Was anybody else starving today! It seemed like a every few hours my stomach would be screaming at me to feed it. It hasn't been this bad in a LONG time. Overall I did pretty good eating today. I ate when I was hungry but not enough to feel stuffed.

I am on cycle day 25 today. Trying to kep my mind off of all the possibilities and praying that next week come and goes fast....and that AF won't show up!

Baby dust to all that are TTC this month!
