We have two of each (since twins are so likely):

    Lauryn Grace
    Julie Lynn
    Charles Robert
    Finn Joseph

The only ones that we're really set on are Lauryn and Charles. We're really keen on having names that aren't assigned to people we know :) The one that does break that rule is Charles Robert (my grandfather was Albert Charles and his was Robert).

    Boy: Liam James
    Girl: Sophia Grace

we have had a few other names that we've gone thru but these are the two that have stuck... My son's name is Peyton Josiah and I thought it would be cute to stick with PJ initials...so I wanted:

    Boy: Pierce James
    Girl: Piper Josephine

but hubster didn't go for either....

Yikes, kcurtis. Thanks a lot, mom... I doubt that you're working out too much, though maybe Zumba is just too intense, but I'm 100% it has nothing to do with testosterone from working out. It doesn't work like that. The reason women miss cycles when working out is because they've lost too much body fat. I would think it's just due to the shot still working it's way out. Your body has to remember what it's supposed to be doing. And it sounds like it's trying to do that.

I would start with OPKs on CD 10 or 12 depending on how long your cycles used to be. Shorter cycle, start earlier. Or you might want to try starting now until you see AF again.

As for your temp, are you using a regular fever thermometer? If so, that will make it all sorts of wacky. Best bet is to get a basal thermometer from Walmart, CVS or Riteaid (avoid Target and Walgreens... and don't tell my DH who manages a Walgreens that I directed you to CVS). To get accurate temps, you have to take them at the same time of day after 3-4 hours of sleep. If you are using a basal thermometer, then you might have ovulated yesterday... but your temps would need to stay up for at least three days to confirm that. Sometimes your temp can do random things.

Thanks! I am using a basal therm. I tested yesterday at 7:55a and today at 7:50a and I was most definitely not out of bed by then yet.... I think is just wacky. I have NO clue what my cycles were like before and I have a feeling they aren't going to be the same as before anyway. (just have a hunch)

    Names:
Caleb Liam (middle is under discussion, I like it but I also like CJ as a nickname so I think I want a J middle name but can't find one we like. I like Jameson. Yes, like the whiskey! )
I have always wanted Zoe Makenzie, but now that we are getting more serious I don't think its going to fly. My mom hates it and I think I want to surprise her and if we have a girl name her Cecelia, which is my mom's middle name.

Ron – You two will eventually find a boys name that you’ll both be happy with! If he’s that set on passing his name down would you consider it as a middle name? This may be a possible compromise.
Oh, and I know how he feels about having to take over in the kitchen, my husband is the one to cook at home (he’s actually studied French cuisine and makes Fois Gras for a living) and when I’m the one cooking he pokes fun at how slow I chop things. I’m actually a good cook, but compared to him I’m an amateur.
Luckily I’ve been forcing him to relearn how to cook (without the tons of butter and cream found in most French dishes).

Pam – Is your grandmother in-law Acadian? If so I feel for you! That French accent and dialect is hard to get used to.

Kcurtis – Forget what the instructor told your mom, yes its true that working out too intensely can affect your ovulation, but that’s extreme! It doesn’t sound like you’re putting extreme stress on your body by training for a marathon or something similar. An hour of cardio a night is fine!

Alisa – Glad to hear that the drama seems to have died down, there’s nothing worse than having drama in your life!
As for my names (remember that French will be the child’s main language)
    Girl: Amélie
    Boy: Matisse

kcurtis, I love Cecilia, but I don't think DH is OK with it.

For the moment, I love Donovan for a boy and DH is ok with it, but that could change quickly. Middle names are set, though. Graham for a boy; Ruth for a girl.

As for names, we agree on NOTHING. So maybe that's why we can't get pregnant.
    [/quote]

Dh told me that he believes we are meant to have a boy and the reason we havent gotten pregnant is because we couldnt aggree on a name, but now that we have it'll finally happen

    Hey, whatever works!

ok, so the quote from Erica's comment doesnt seem to want to show as a quote for some reason. Not too sure what i'm doing wrong

DH’s name is Castor Joshua; I really liked the idea of flipping the names so our son would be Joshua Castor. But he apparently hates his middle name and we both wanted the middle name for a boy to be my dad’s name. I did tell him that if we have 2 boys I would gladly give his name as the middle name for the second one. I think we’ve both agreed to go with Benjamin though (he picked the name and I loved it). When he brought up the subject yesterday he said, “I don’t want to argue and get you all upset when you’re pregnant so let’s just figure it out tonight.”

Abeare - that she is...It's taken me time to get used to the dialect. We were just talking about that last night at DH's aunt's actually. I'm pretty okay with it and she does speak English too, but not as well (they lived in Toronto for 15 years when my MIL was growing up). The new girlfriend in the family is just flummoxed though. Her family is Quebecois and so she's having a lot of trouble with it this visit. DH and his family kind of laugh at my attempts...the call it Frenglish and that's fine. I had pay back in May when we went to visit my family in South Africa and there were all kinds of little terms for things that he had no clue about....LOL

I woke up this morning with the most wicked sore throat and sinus headache. I know my sinus' were starting to get clogged yesterday....I didn't take my anithistamine when I should have and so it allowed a build up. Can't wait for my allergy shots to come in so I can worry less about making sure that I take my antihistamine every morning and not some mornings and some evenings. I finished work early and came home and slept. Just woke up so I don't think it'll affect my sleep tonight but I hate this.

On a bright note, we're starting to pull out the decorations for Christmas to start decorating. We have A LOT of decorations (about 20 of the big rubberneck bins for inside and about 4 for outside). It typically takes 2 weeks to decorate, but to be fair, my energy levels in past years have been so low that I should say it typically takes DH 2 weeks to decorate. With his grandmother visiting for a few weeks, she's actually staying here next weekend and so we're having to start early to ensure that we get enough out to make it Christmassy without there being Christmas decorations that haven't been put out. He spent most of today working on the outdoor lighting (We have a 50 foot tree in front of the house that needs to get lit) so hopefully we'll do most of the decorating this week and then finish up the week after she leaves. I have a big holiday cookie exchange that I do every year on the first weekend in Dec (I use the cookies to make up trays to take to the local senior centre and give to the neighbours). I'm excited for this, but again, will involve some heavy duty baking the last weekend of Nov. so the less decorating I have to do, the better.

Eating is going well so far...although i have not decided what we're having for dinner yet.

Hubster just called me  It's the first time in 4 weeks that i've heard his voice! I guess the boat pulled into port later than expected so his flight maybe delayed by an hour or two which would be seriously poopy!! They haven't said for sure yet so i'm holding out hope that he will be home by dinner time, but who knows anymore!

Time is (obviously) DRAGGING today....I'm get off work in an hour and a half but seriously it can't get here FAST enough!!

Hi ladies!! I would like to say Happy Monday, but I wish is was not Monday at all. It was really rough getting up this morning for work.

Ericaroo- I'm glad to hear you are doing better. Also, you are in my prayers! I know it has to be hard and frustrating! Keep positive, He has a plan.

Alisa- YAY!! Hubby is here today! I'm so happy for you! And good job on finishing the bathroom.

Pam- Great loss! Glad to see your hard work paying off! I am going to be changing my ticker too. I am SO close to the end, I need to see it and get my butt in high gear.

abeare- Way to go on keeping to your goals on the weekend! Only over by 115 cals is great!! I think I went over by 400 cals...Not a good weekend for me. DH and I have had a boy name forever. We just don’t know about a girl. He gives me the “I don’t care” answer when it comes to the girl. He really wants to have a “little buddy” boy.

Ron- OUCH! I hope it heals soon. Finger cuts always seem to get in the way.

Jalara- Good luck on the + hope you see it soon. Wow lots of changes, new car, DH new job, and TTC sounds like fun!! Great job on working out too!

Me- This is one of the worse weekends I have had in a while. I actually said "I don't care" and ate whatever I wanted. Ugh bad idea, because now that I look back I feel completely guilty. Pizza+bread sticks+wendy's+chocolate=BAD WEEKEND! I did make it to Zumba Toning on Saturday and had a great class, but I don't think it made up for all the bad choices. My weigh in this morning + 1 lb, I'm afraid that isn't reflecting this weekend either. So I have to get my choices under control!

I started temping yesterday morning for the first time. I have jumped 1 whole degree from yesterday to today...is that normal? I guess I have some researching to do. I ordered the 10 pack of HPTs and 40 OPKs from Amazon this weekend. Now that I kind of had a period I think it is time to start monitoring things closer. When should I start OPK testing? I'm on CD9.

My mom brought my future family plans (and lack of menstruation) to our Zumba instructor when I was not there (I could kill her for sharing my personal business with strangers! This is not the first time she has done this! I lost a good friend because my mom couldn't keep her mouth shut when I got engaged. Grrr I want to scream!). But the instructor said that I have too much testosterone from working out so much and if I cut back a bit it would drop and I would regulate more. I go to Zumba 1-2 times a week, teach 2 times a week, and work on the house (which is much more mild now that we are getting to the end) all the other days. I don't think I am working out that much. How am I suppose to get to my goal without working out?! This whole hormone stuff is frustrating! I don't know how to get everything to balance! (Yes, can you tell I am having a bit of a meltdown?)

Well I guess I should get to work. I work at a theatre in Detroit as the Dance Admin. Assist. and we have The Nutcracker over Thanksgiving weekend. It’s starting to get busy around here! I love it!

YIKES! How embarrassing to have your business blasted all over the world to random people! :( Not to say that your workout efforts aren't good enough, but it takes a major drop in body fat for a woman to lose menstruation due to exercise. I believe that essential body fat is something like 12% for women to have a period and dropping below that is when women begin to have problems with their period. Even the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are typically around 14-17% body fat and they are skinny minnies (and I only know this cause I have a guilty obsession with that show on CMT. lol!). By exercising you will not get an increase in testosterone that results in a loss of your period. That is ridiculous and she doesn't know what she is talking about, not to mention they shouldn't have been discussing that in the first place!

I'd recommend the same thing about going to see a doc regarding period/hormone issues. Good luck with everything and tell mom to zip it! lol!

Lol thanks for the input ladies!!! I know i have lost body fat, but most definately not enough to effect my body functions at all! Its prolly just the shot still gettung out of my system, like Erica said. And believe me, I told my mom to clam it!!!

Alisa- sorry to hear he got delayed.

I did absolutely horrible this weekend. It is like I take 2 steps forward and 4 steps back. I've been stuck at 148-152 the past couple weeks. Before my vacation in August and Clomid in Sept I was 142. I'm very sodium sensitive so depending on how much I have my weight fluctuates about 5lbs and that is normal for me. Anyways, this weekend my step-sister came to visit and we went out for drinks (started off with margaritas, the most caloric drink there is! but oh so yummy!) I had Wendy's for the first time in 4 years and it made my guts hurt horribly. I still workout 5-6 days a week (sometimes twice per day. a cardio class like spinning or kickbox and an hour of toning. I follow tracy anderson method). It is the eating I have a hard time following. And I'll have 4-6 great days of eating and then all it takes is 2 days of eating horrible to put me right back at square one or even behind. I REALLY want be as close to 140 as possible before baby making next month....Any suggestions on how to stay motivated? I eat when I'm tired. I eat when I'm lonely. I eat when I'm bored. Seems like the past few weeks with my husband gone I'm tired, lonely, and bored pretty much all the time. :(

Very excited for you! He will be home before you know it! My husband is an instructor apache helicopter pilot in the army. He is gone ALL the time so I hear your pain! We actually had to wait to try again to make a baby for next month since he is out of town and I won't be able to go be with him (since he is at a class and not deployed) until Thanksgiving. Us military wives are a special breed. Not only do we have problems getting pregnant sometimes, we have to plan our baby making when our husbands are in the same zip code as us! lol! Not many people know how that feels. Have lots of fun!

Thanks Heather - Yeah it's def been a challange, this det was the first one where I haven't been able to at least TALK to him. I got a few (2-3) emails from him a week and that was it. He leaves on a 7mo deployment in February and we're PRAYING we get preggers on our 1st or 2nd cycle trying....bc we only have 2 cycles to try....Atleast for you having your husband being gone gives your body a chance to rest and recoop and prepare to try again next month! 20more min until i'm off work then quick stop at the grocery store, run home and mop the kitchen super fast...then heading to pick up the hubs!! (still haven't heard for sure if they're delayed so if they are i'm going to go hang out with a friend while i wait!)

    Busy day on the boards!

Alisa - yahoo! Have a great reunion!
    __
Names: Like most of you we settled on girl names no problem, but we are all over the place with boy names. We started talking named the first year we were together!
Girl: Charlotte (Charlie for short), and Penelope (Penny or Ella for short)
Boy: Cullen, Dexter, Casey. I  Alexander with Lex for short, but someone I know just did that!
    __
So I only have a couple of OPKs left from my onoline order, so DH gave me the thumbs up to get some of the more expensive ones from the drug store. So I got the ones with the smiley face! Maybe I'll get a happy face soon!

Also, DH just fell into a comatose-sleep, so no BDing for me tonight :frown: I'm really hoping this is our month!

Honest to God for the past 4 years now (before we even got married) we decided on if we had a girl we'd name her Charlotte and call her Charlee. lol! Where we came up with it I don't know! So her name will be Charlotte "Charlee" Kendall. If we have a boy we know we will call him Jack. Not 100% on the middle name yet. Our second girls name is Claire. I love the name Benjamin but the last girl my husband dated left him for a guy named Benjamin so that name is ruined for him. :( Anyways, I guess there is enough room in this world for two cutie pies named Charlotte aka Charlie/Charlee!

Well we are on day 22 and 4 dpo. Hoping for the best this month and trying not think about it too much. I just have to say...this board is so wonderful! I love coming on here everyday and being able to read what all you women are thinking and feeling and being able to say to myself "yep, thats how I feel...and yep I felt like that yesterday"!
As for kids names we are still undecided....well atleast DH thinks we are:tongue:
Girl: Raynah Lynn (my favorite but DH doesn't like it)
Boy: Mitchell is what DH likes but I like Conrad (DH's middle name!-he very much dislikes it)

LOL that's so funny - Charlotte was one of my names too. I love the idea of little girls named Charlie. But my cousin is pregnant and her first little one is Emily and this one (due sometime this week) is going to be Charlotte (after the Bronte sisters). Since both parents are teachers, one English and one Science, it's kinda cute but I almost gagged when I heard she was using it. I turned to my hubs and said "We'd better get a move on before all the good names are taken.

Biron, George, Kimberly, Caleb, Naomi, Anita, and Audrey are used. We have started to claim our names with family members... like don't you dare use so and so!

So last night my swimbuddy and I had a fairly frank discussion about weight and clothing sizes and stuff. We'd gone shopping (she started a new job yesterday and needs a work wardrobe). She started asking why I wasn't even looking at clothes (we were in boutique shops...you know, the kind that goes up to size 16 and calls it plus sizes....LOL). She really thought that I should be able to buy clothes there. She even said to me, when my sister was at her highest of just over 200, she loved shopping here, just look.

I asked her what she thought I weighed and her answer was 160!!!! LOL She's 152 so I was fairly shocked that she thought that we were almost the same weight. The reality was that when we started, I doubled her weight (just about) and doubled her clothing size. Her jaw dropped when I told her that 160 was my goal and I still had over 80 lbs to get that far. She knew how much I'd lost and you could see the math happening in her head......

I don't know if it was a wrong perception thing or what, but I get that ALL the time. It's kind of nice that people don't think you're as big as you really are, but it's also damaging to me I think. I get complacent, because I keep getting told not to lose too much more :noway: I hear that and head for the kitchen.

Since people think I weigh 160 (or I've had 200 at my highest too) I scare them when I say there is still over 80 to go. A few weeks ago, a few people didn't believe me until I stepped on the scale. One woman (154) kept saying, there's no way you can afford to lose another 80 lbs. My best friend, who is bigger too (but proportioned differently than I am) was so jealous of my loss until she realized that I'm still bigger than her.

Does anyone else get this a lot? I'm now at a BMI of 35 and change vs. 42 when I started. I still have 70 lbs to even get out of the overweight category and almost 40 to get into it. Typically when people ask if I've lost weight, I say "Yeah, a little bit". Some people leave it at that, others push for a number so when I say "just over 50lbs"

Pam, I think people just can't see weight on certain body shapes. I certainly haven't come as far as you have, but most people underestimate my weight by a good 15 pounds because I'm an hour glass and so it's all in my bust and thighs. I look thin when I'm dressed, but I know that there's a lot more fat there than is healthy. On the other end of the spectrum, they overestimate my husband's weight by at least 15 pounds... probably out of denial that anyone could weigh as little as he does and still be healthy.

    Erica - fair enough.

Jalara - about time :) The speculations have been all out there since they invited her parents to Balmoral. That's like an engagement announcement although the rumor is that the family really really really don't like her parents. So I guess I have to stop calling her Kate now and revert back to Lady Katherine. That is exciting thoguh. Almost as exciting as when the Queen's grandson married the girl from Montreal (Autumn & Peter)

Goooooood morning everyone!!! I am in a fantastic mood today! Hubster got home safely last night! He was an hour later than expected but home non-the less (Thank GOD bc the last flight home was supposed to be at 10pm and it got cancelled at the last minute due to fog and didn't get home until today)

Got to spend a few hours just me and the hubs last night after the kiddo went to bed, it was SOOOOOOO nice. He just kept telling my how good i looked and he could tell that i've lost weight just since he left (i actually haven't lost any lbs but i feel like the weight has shifted and re-proportioning itself) so that felt really good that he just kept saying how he couldn't get over how great I looked!
LoL I told him about how I O'd last month and his response was "Good job honey! I'm proud of you!" (very sarcastic as if i had really TRIED to accomplish something and he was proud that i had worked so hard for it:laugh: ) Then he goes to use the bathroom and saw my OPK tester thing (just the tester not the strips) sitting on the back of the toilet and says:

H - "Oh man! Now we've got all kinds of birthcontrol laying around the house now!"
M- "No, that's my ovulation tester!"
H - "Well it's still kind of Birthcontrol bc it tells us when you O so we make sure to be extra careful around that time"
M - "It doesn't really work that way bc your swimmers can live inside me for 2-3days after they are.."deposited" so we can't really predict when i'm going to O for sure so that's not really a good way to prevent pregnancy"
    H - "Well...since they're my swimmers i'm sure they live more like 5-7days...you know..."

Apparently he has super swimmers lol

With him being home i feel super motivated to eat better, keep up with the house and all the other things i have NOT been motivated about for the past month. Day started out good with an eggo waffle with just a little spread of margerine on it. I planned out meals for this week and am really excited that I have Thursday and Friday off to be able to hit the gym!

Hi everyone!! I just wanted to post and see if I can join your group!! I'm currently not TTC however I'm planning on it starting in June 2011. Currently I'm working on getting myself healthy enough to begin trying as well as making my body good and strong. I've had some medical issues and I'm worried about my ability to carry a child, my doctor said that there is a slight risk and that the more I do to prepare before the better the chances of a healthy pregnancy. So here I am on the weight loss train again although ths time I'm taking a different persepctive on things than when I had lost weight before for my wedding (which was a year and a half ago) since then i've gained 20 pounds and weigh more than I ever have in my life... my start weight was a whopping 192.2 pounds at 5'2. Not really sure what my weight loss goals are, I'm trying to think about this journey not by the numbers. I think I'm more concerned with getting myself healthy, whatever that means. I want to be sure I'm in a routine of working out and eating healthy. I need to do that for myself first before I have kids, I need to be my own role model so that I can teach them how to live healthily. I'm currently I'm doing P90x and I'm completely loving it. I have only lost 5.2 pounds so far and today I'm starting the last phase and I'm on day 57... I think this is the longest I've actually stuck to a program and I'm really motivated to finish and I'm already planning on a second round of it. I feel the best that I've felt in a LONG time and I went from wearing a size 14, to a size 12 (a skinny 12) my regular 12s are all lose on me.... I haven't tried a 10 yet... maybe after my next month of 90x I'll be there!!

Anyway I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and joining your group!!! I need some extra motivation to keep myself going lately and I think this group is exactly what I need!!

clot I passed and I had a stressful and
    emotional past week. I couldn't have a u/s
so they just did a blood test on Tues and
another on Friday so my HCG levels are
increasing so that's a good sign and my
doc just said that it may just be cervical
bleeding. Which I've had issues w in
the past so that's what's been going on
w me in case any one was wondering.

I am praying for baby dust for all of you
so you join me on the PG board very soon. :flowerforyou:
