Ok, so I had a question about ovulation testing, but I think you ladies answered my question as I read through the posts. After I get a positive result on an ovulation test, do I stop taking the test daily? They are really expensive and I hate to waste them. I tested positive on the 8th, so how many days afterward should we be intimate? We just started all this last month and it's very confusing! I just don't get how girls get prego on accident, when it's this complicated!!

Anyway, I did really well yesterday. Did an hour of cardio and 1.5 hours of hot yoga, which was brutal! Drinking my shake right now and trying to figure out what I'm going to eat when I'm out shopping today. I live in the middle of nowhere, so I have to drive 40 min. to get to shopping, which means I'll be out most of the day surrounded by fast food.

What does CD9 mean? and PCOS. I don't know all these acronyms yet.

    Goood morning all :D

Woke up in a great mood today - could be because I took today off as vacation. Have to leave the house shortly though. Fertility appointment in 45 minutes in the next town over. I think that I realized my goal of being 30lbs down from what I told her in June (but I don't remember the specific number at the time that I went last because it was a guess....I only weighed myself afterwards.....)

Looks like a beautiful (if cold) day out there. Probably going to take the dogs for a walk this morning with my hubbie and actually start the pilates video this afternoon. Sounds like a well behaved day so far, but I think that I might splurge on something for breakfast...I don't feel like oatmeal or eggs this morning.

Phsyical this afternoon too. Last time I went to the doctor, she commented on how good I was looking (and that was me sick...) So I think she's goign to be happy. I mentioned the taste buds thing to the dentist last night and they weren't able to help but I really don't think it's a taste buds thing. I think there is something not right somewhere in my digestive tract....so I'm bringing it up with the doctor today....On the plus side, I feel like I'm definitely getting everything ready for being pregnant in a few months. Getting all my levels checked with my family doctor, getting a clean bill of health from the dentist, being at a healthier start weight....Hope that this is my last Christmas without a little one (like all the Christmas' before) really is making me smile today :)

    Happy Thursday everyone :)

WOW Reading this just put me in a better mood! Thanks for the positivity! I hope your docs can help the terrible tastes! Also, you reminded me that I have to go to the dentist! Ugh, it's been SO long and I hate the dentist. I guess I shouldn't put it off any longer if we want to try in Jan.

Really the best way to confirm that you did ovulate after a +OPK is to temp, but usually you will O 12-48 hours after you get a positive. There's a plan that recommends getting busy the day of and the day following a positive, then skip a day, and go one more time the following day. And no, you don't have to keep testing, but if you get more than one positive, you might know that you didn't ovulate right away.

CD 9 is cycle day 9. Cycle day 1 is the first day of your period. 9 dpo is 9 days past ovulation.

    PCOS is polycystic ovarian syndrome.

cwagy~ I have all the same questions! I know what you mean about it being confusing. I have been a part of this board for a long time and I still don't have it all straight! I have thought about Baby Dancing everyday to make sure I don't miss the small window of oppertuinity. LOL:laugh:

Way to go on that workout!!! Sounds great! I have never heard of Hot Yoga...what is it like? Have fun shopping.

Physical now done. Doc thinks the bad taste could be because of the inhaler I take for Asthma. I did up my usage around the time I got sick a month ago (went from 1 puff twice a day to 2 puffs twice a day, which puts me at max usage). It's a cortocosteroid, but she's given me the abiltiy to self regulate depending on my breathing. I was just thinking of coming back down to 1 puff again. As soon as I said burnt, she said it's the inhaler - guess it's a common thing. I'm cutting it back as of tonight so hopefully this horribleness will go away.

She said the Metformin will help with the elevated blood sugar and the thyroid will be taken care of with the new meds. Overall, she's happy and looking forward to seeing more good results from me. I came out of there with no bloodwork, unlike my hubbie.....LOL But I did have to have my tetenus shot and threw in the flu shot for good measure.

I have PCOS with insulin resistance and take Metformin. Just to warn you (in case you haven't already heard or experienced it for yourself) but Metformin will wreak havoc on your GI system for a few days/weeks. I felt queasy and bloated and gassy for weeks after taking it, but in the end it has really helped with my blood sugar. Make sure to work up to the full dosage and don't throw in the towel just because you feel like you are going to poo your pants! lol! Trust me, it gets better!

okay... I have maybe a dumb question but reading about it online it is giving me all sorts of answers. If you get your AF does that mean that you are for sure ovulating?

Pam that is such great news! I'm so happy for you!!!!

I had such a great day off today, I don't want to go back to the office tomorrow. We didn't do much, it was just nice to have a day to bum around that house and hang out together. DH came with me for a run this morning, the last time he went with me I was only running about a quarter of a mile and I don't think he was prepared for how long I can run now. We walked for 3/4 of a mile and started to run when we reached the park. After about a half a mile this was our conversation:

    Where's the finish line?
    Home.
Home???? What do you mean???? Why???
    That's how far I run.
My God Ronya, if I knew that I would have stayed home!!!

I started to laugh so hard that I almost fell over.  He made it, but he had to slow down and stopped a few times. When we first started dating he used to run 5 miles with no problem and I barely could walk around the block without getting winded. It's a nice feeling to know that I've come so far. Then I realized that I was able to run and talk at the same time without dying!! :noway:

AnneElise, not necessarily. Some women think their cycles are normal, but they're actually not ovulating.

Ron, that's AWESOME! DH did a cardio interval DVD with me last week and stopped after 10 minutes and said, "This is crazy! Why doesn't she take a break? Even P90x has breaks!"

LOL! I tried to get my husband to do spinning with me once and he was done after the 5 minute warmup! He couldn't believe that "sissy spinning" was so hard. We also did the ab ripper from p90x which I thought was pretty easy compared to my normal ab routine and he howled and complained the entire time! He may be thinner than me...but I think I've got him beat on endurance! I guess there is a reason why God made women to have the babies.... ;)

Ron - That's awesome! Good for you! I wish i had the time...the endourance....or just the motivation to jog/run! I will have the whole week of Thanksgiving off and I plan to hit the gym on Monday and Tuesday then we leave for Ohio Wednesday!

I'm almost finished with all of my work for the season..I'm actually starting to get concerned that i won't have ENOUGH work to get me thru next week! :noway:

uhg. I feel like I am paraniod. As soon as we wanted to start trying for a baby (about may) my AF dissapeared when otherwise it had been perfectly normal. I had to wait that out for 5ish months. Finally got my AF back naturally Oct. 29th. SO EXCITED. Now I am worried that even though I have it I am not ovulating. I bought clearblue ovulation tests and have been taking them since monday and none of them have said that I am ovulating... according to my guess it should be yesterday through tommorow so it still could get positive in the next day or two. I wish I had not gotten the tests though now I am so worried. Why do I always worry about something?

Its friday ladies! YEA! I have to work a couple hours tommorow but at least I will get to sleep in! horray for the weekend!

AnneElise, those estimates are based off of the "average woman" who supposedly ovulates on cycle day 14. Most women do not. You're a couple of days ahead of me, but I haven't gotten any positives yet either, so I wouldn't fret too much. Also, it's really easy to miss your LH surge if you have a short one. I highly recommend temping next cycle. At least for me, it takes a lot of the worrying out of the equation because I can at least see when I ovulated. And it's a lot cheaper than using OPKs, though it won't tell you when you're about to O, it just tells you after the fact.

    Here are my charts:

heather, I see TOM all over the website for Time of the Month, but I've spent too much time on babycenter (which uses AF for AF) to switch. Also, I'd rather think about a female visiting me down there instead of a creepy dude. But you might see TOM or TOTM on other threads.

We went out for Japanese food last night. I have no clue how many calories it really was, but it was awesome. I've fallen off track with working out again. My asthma is really bad right now, so that's probably good for my lungs, but I'm just holding steady when I'd like to be going DOWN. Oh well, maybe I can get back to it tonight.

This afternoon is my first Doc appt since my miscarriage. It has been 5 weeks since and I've had AF, so we are going to discuss the plan of action for next cycle (which should be around Dec 1st). I know we will do Clomid (which I'm soooo not looking forward to because that drug is the devil by the way it makes you feel but heaven on earth if it results in a baby) cause I don't ovulate. My progesterone was really low when I miscarried so I'm thinking they might supplement with progesterone. All I know is that I'm excited to try again and hopefully this one will stick!

    Sorry if too much info!

Does anybody know if it is normal not to bleed after an Mirena IUD is removed?I spotted one tiny pencil eraser light pink spot yesterday and it was been three days since the stupid thing came out. I have a feeling my cycles are going to be completely messed up for a long time.

IT'S FRIDAY!!! :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:

Weigh-in today...Back down to 133.2!! Wooo!! I guess uping the Calories this week worked...bc i feel like I ate HORRIBLE this week but apparently my body burned it all!! So excited! Motivated to keep on trucking!

My girlfriend came over and hung out with me last night and kept me company while i folded all the laundry that I started right after my hubster left (just in time for him to come home next week!) I still have like....3 more loads to wash/dry/fold/hang but ANY progress was SOMETHING! I also finished painting the first coat in the bathroom, I had to do all the trim/edging...second coat to follow tomorrow morning!

Today is going to be a crappy day for eating...didnt' pack lunches or a snack...so it will have to be fast food...and I'm going to make it GOOD! Then I think another friend is going to come over tonight and we're going to have an old school slumber party...complete with Pizza, brownies and chick-flicks!

O-testing starts today - AnneElise I didn't get a  on my OPK until CD 16 last month...I test twice a day (once between 11a-12p and then again between 6p-7p) I stop drinking liquids at 10am and then again at 4p and I make sure i haven't peed within 4hours before testing...it's a pain but I was so excited to see that

Amanda, sorry that I don't have an answer for you. Did you get AF while on the IUD? It will probably take awhile for your hormones to regulate themselves and get going again.

Alissa, I started my OPKs again yesterday. I hate holding it so long. And it was probably silly because I was still sitting at low on the monitor, but I got a high this morning. (Peak is what I need.) I'll probably test again this afternoon with an OPK just to make sure my surge isn't starting.

Erica, I haven't AF for six years but I am pretty sure I ovulated the whole time I was on it. I am spotting a little more today so maybe this is the beginning. I would have thought after all this time the blood would have been very very brown or red not light pink. HMmmm!

I don't know about that. You can certainly O with an IUD, but I'm pretty sure if you do O then you have AF... but this is not my area of knowledge, so I have no idea. I hope your cycle regulates quickly.

So ladies...I'm horrendiously bored at work....puting around killing time...I've decided i'm splurging and getting burger king for lunch...It better be the best dang chicken sandwich EVER! (last time it was burnt to a little crisp  )

My exboyfriend called me today :indifferent: (we're still friends and talk every few months to catch up), we dated for a year right before I met my hubs (probably would have ended up marrying him if he would have gotten his crap together...) and he asked how things were going etc etc So I told him that Hubster and I were going to start trying to get preggo soon...He got really quiet and then just said "Oh..." really dissapointed sounding... I'm not really sure what he expected me to say "Oh, I'm leaving my husband to come running back into your arms..." (keep in mind HE'S engaged too...) ugh...I mean i have ZERO romantic emotional attachment to him whatsoever and when we talk we always joke about how it would have never worked between us, but i guess to him the fact that Hubs and I are starting our family validates the marriage??? As if our lavish California Coast Beach wedding wasn't enough :noway: (maybe bc he didn't attend since he lives in my hometown in FL...)

I don't mean this as any disrespect AT ALL (I'm a very kind hearted person who rarely, if ever means anything rude or mean)...but I'm just wondering how you've managed to lose the weight and look so great and eat Burger King?! I look at that stuff and gain 10lbs! When I decided to lose the weight after I reached my highest of over 200+ pounds I gave up eating anywhere that has a drive thru (pretty left me with the option of Subway if I'm ever in a bind), and gave up all soda, even diet. I've had fast food a handful of times in the past 6 years but every time it gives me the biggest gut ache EVER! It always smells and sounds appealing when I'm around it. Some of the women I work with eat fast food every day and are maybe a little mushy but not overweight. I just don't know how come I look at the stuff and gain, while others eat it freely and have no problems?! Guess I was just blessed with crap genes that I'll always have to watch every morsel that enters my mouth and workout intensely 6 days a week just to maintain....

Believe that i will absolutely feel guilty after I eat it...However, I don't eat it TOO TOO often. We normally do fastfood twice a month (sometimes more often when my husband is out of town)...but as long as it's not everyday and I stay within my calories the rest of the week i'm normally okay. After about 3 weeks of keeping to a strict 1200calorie routine my body will get used to it and i'll plateau and not lose anything, so spicing it up by having one good cheat day a week or so tends to help me. I don't drink a lot (if any) caffiene (although pumpkin spice latte's have been my weakness here of late...) zero soda and i've cut back on my desserts...although THAT is truely my weakness. I drink TONS of water (when i'm not O'testing....last month i almost peed on myself bc I drank too much then had to hold it for 4 hours!)....I'm a HUGE advocate that ANYTHING in moderation is fine. I have a very addictive & rebelious personality (BAD combo!) so i have found that if i deny myself something I will end up bingeing. So i'd rather eat what i want and just stop eating when i'm full and just satisfy that little itch than get back on track! :flowerforyou:
