I am a big test <3er too, but again it'll be different for me ... bc obviously once my husband is gone I won't be doing the preggo testing anymore (either A. i'll be preggo or B. there won't be a reason for me to test...) but i plan to still test for O's and keep updating my Fertility friend so that we can try again mid-way thru deployment and if again unsuccessful we'll take another crack at it after he gets home!

Ugh, I ate sushi for lunch..(and dinner last night...and no they weren't leftovers...i just ordered it again...) and i OVERATE! I am sooooo full!! Yuck! BUT! I get off work at 3:30 today bc i'm going to a friend of mine's patching ceremony for her new squadron! :drinker: There will be beer involved but i plan on only having one lite beer bc I have my dress fitting for my gown for the ball in 2 weeks!

Alisa, you might find it cheaper to temp while your husband is gone if you don't get your BFP beforehand since you won't need to time anything. That will tell you a lot more than just OPKs, too.

Jalara: I think i'll test again on Monday
if AF doesn't show ever the weekend
cause that's when DH will be bk. I would
hate to know over the weekend and not
be able to tell him in person so that's my
only reason for waiting.BTW where do you
order your tests from if you don't mind me
asking?? Do they mail them discretely? Cause
i live in a small community and I know our
    mail distributor hehe

I order my test from Amazon.com. I got 40 OPK and 10 Pregnancy test for under $10. They come shipped in a padded envelope and the return label does not have anything that would let anyone know what it is. The OPKs have been pretty accurate and in coordination with temping and blood work.

Thanks for the warm welcomes! :flowerforyou:

Just some background info on me - I started MFP at 180 on December 28, 2008. I have managed to only lose and keep off 18.5 pounds and have given up several times but always come back. I would love to lose 5 more pounds this month before we start TTC.

I have logging my calories and trying to walk at least 5 days a week. The scale is just not my friend!

hmm... I am not a big tester. It makes me more anxious than I want to be about it but probably if we are still trying 6 months from now I will start testing like crazy!

I am learning so much from just reading these :D

Time is not something I have much of right now.... Today I worked 14 hours and that is just a little above average. Coaching has just been eating up so much of my extra time on top of teaching. BUT I am making some extra money to help save for a little one so it all has its ups and downs!

    Happy Friday Night Everyone!

EricaRoo - Well, June was a negative, and October was a negative, and I just ordered a bunch more tests. I'll can see your point, although I know I won't get tired of POAS!

PMaria - Sorry it took me so long to gt back to you. I order mine (under Pam's suggestion) from http://www.early-pregnancy-tests.com/. The shipping is free (even to Canada) and all I get is a little padded envelope in the mail - no one is the wiser! I just ordered 25 HPTs for less than $24 (I'll likely go through 5 per cycle, knowing me - I start to test around CD 9).

I figure I would rather have extra around than not enough! Alisa - I'm glad I'm not the only one!

So it's 3am and I can't sleep. I have a horrible headache that's been here for the past 3 days and showing no signs of leaving anytime soon. :frown: I figured I'd get a jump start on my Saturday cleaning, but now that I'm actually out of bed I have no desire to clean anymore. DH and I went out to dinner with my mom and brothers last night. I spent an hour using the restaurants online nutrition calculator to decide what I was going to eat to stay within my calories. Of course as soon as sat down I ordered the unhealthiest thing on the menu.....then ate half of DH's fries. :embarassed:

I was at the store the other day and spent a good 15 minutes looking at the different brands of OPK's. I'm not sure if I'm going to start testing as soon as we start TTC. I know it may take a few months for me to start to O on my own, and I guess I just don't want to make too technical in the beginning (or have the disappointment of knowing for sure I didn't O and it won't happen that month). I've spent my whole life worrying about NOT getting pregnant that I don't think I'm ready to bring science into BD'ing just yet - if that makes sense at all.

WOW - lots of POAS going on around here....LOL Good luck to everyone - I'm really surprised we haven't seen more BFPs around here with everyone starting to try. Looking forward to my Fertility specialist appointment this week, although I'm not looking forward to getting the actual price tag for the procedures. I'm going to see what she thinks about maybe scaling back the procedures now that hubbie will no longer be considered close to azoospermic for a few months and trying the clomid to get me back in sync with where I should be. That would mean that we wouldn't do the IVF until Feb most likely. I believe that I'm gearing up to O right now because of my CP the last few days. DH has been happy to get back into "trying" mode and he says he's not finding it to be as much of a chore after two years of stopping that phase of our lives. What a miracle it would be if we do manage it this month - I think we're still working with pre-surgery product on his end :embarassed:

As of this morning, I'm back down to my lowest weight so far - any more progress is brand new territory. Kinda looking forward to pushing for 225 for Christmas (I know it's really aggressive, but if I can do it, I'll be at the highest weight from my teenage years which is unbelievable). Also, as of this morning, I'm about 1lb away from a BMI of 35. When I started this, my BMI was about 42. That will give me serious reason to celebrate.

Pam- Congratulations on being at your lowest weight so far, that is awesome!!!

I just got back from a 5 mile hike, 85 minutes, 746 calories burnt, it was uphill for 2.5 miles and then downhill. It was great - when it was all over!

I am serious thinking about seeing if I can get my IUD out this week, I have been looking on the net and it seems that it can take awhile to get pregnant after that thing is removed. Not looking forward to the bleeding after it comes out. :grumble:

Thanks - that's a great hike and uphill and downhill are both good - they work different muscles to keep you balanced :)

I've heard you need to give yourself a couple of cycles without the IUD to reduce birth defects, not just to acclimatize to get preggers.

Really, that is interesting because I was told we could start right away. I will definitely have to research this more.

After looking for hours tonight I can't find any info on birth defects after the IUD, could you please share with me where you got this info??

Also does anybody know anything about taking a baby aspririn while TTCing to help with fertility? I have been reading about that tonight aso. Thanks!

Yup - I'm sure I forwarded it to my cousin's wife because they were talking about starting to try for #2 after taking out the IUD. Let me look around for it. Okay - so I can't find the original post that I sent her, but I agree that it looks like birth defects are not common (if at all). Sorry for the scare, it's bothering me why I can't find the original post because it was from a reputable source too.

They do say though that the risk of miscarriage is higher just after taking it out. The recommend waiting a minimum of one cycle because the IUD thins out the walls of the uterus and so you're not prepared to carry a fetus, if you do conceive. If you have the LNg version of the IUD (like Mirena), because it is treated with hormones, you'll have a similar recovery period to someone that is stopping oral contraceptives. Need to give the hormones a chance to rebalance.

Baby aspirin is only prescribed for those women who have a documented clotting disorder and have suffered miscarriages as a result. I wouldn't use it unless it was prescribed for you by your doctor.

I love that I got to sleep in today :) And I was still up at a decent time....daylight savings roll back - gotta love it!

Another busy day today. Can you tell we're getting a special guest soon? LOL The ceiling in the kitchen went up 80% of the way yesterday. We're doing a tongue and groove ceiling - so it went up and got painted yesterday. Today I get to stain the "beams" and put them up with the trim around the ceiling but we're going to my parents for most of the afternoon to help them finish installing their windows. The good news about going to my parents on the weekend is that I don't graze all day (not my house so I just don't) bad news about going to my parents on the weekend is that my Mom won't let me help with much so I will sit on my behind most of the day watching TV....I don't even think we're taking my dogs with us. That's always a good excuse for getting up and out of the house. Just don't have the time.

I think my girlfriend is bringing her new guy over tonight for a night of boardgames, but it can't run too late - early morning tomorrow for work. Because I think it's going to be light early tomorrow morning I might take a walk before eveyone else comes into the office (although I think I have several early morning meetings tomorrow).

I find that the days that the two big determinants for consistent weight loss for me are drinking at least 10 glasses of water AND getting at least 7 hours of good sleep. Hope everyone's having a healthy morning. Going to start drinking the green tea again (prepared for my nose to drip like a faucet) but only in the afternoon ;) Don't want it interfering with my multivitamins.

OMG OMG!! AF came to visit!!! I'm SO excited!
I know this is only one very little part of the puzzle, at least there is a piece of the puzzle present!
Maybe our plan can still work.

yea! Congrats Kcurtis! I was very excited when I got mine too...

starting my christmas shopping today :D

I just realized today that if we were to get pregnant this month (unlikely I know) we would find out on the weekend of our second wedding anniversary. How special that would be!

    HOOORAAAAAAY KCurtis!!!!!

AnneElise, if I got pregnant this month, the baby would be due on the third anniversary of my husband and I meeting and about four days before our second wedding anniversary. However, with all the other special dates we've missed and special times we could have found out, I don't have much hope for that, though I'm trying to think positively. After 11 cycles we have a good shot (unless we have real fertility issues). But I'm sure you'll have better luck than we do.

Ya KCurtis!!!! Isn't it weird that we celebrate AF when trying to regulate??? LOL

If we were to conceive when expected, baby would be born in between all our family birthdays!

    KCurtis -Yeah for AF!

Pam-thanks for the warning about waiting until the first cycle, I agree I read about the chance of miscarriage being higher after the IUD is first removed. I got pregnant with dd #1 the day after I stopped the birth control pills. I was sick and thinking I can't be pregnant already and yep I was.

Erica - thanks for clarifying about the baby aspirin. I will forget it then.

    Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

    Wonderful news!

AnneElise - If we were to get preggo this month, the baby would be due just prior to our 1st wedding anniversary.

So - I'm sitting here sipping on Pom (pomegranate juice) and would like to take a minute to brag up my husband!
This is what he surprised me with at my birthday celebration last night: http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/45028752.aspx
I was sooo happy! I still have a similar one from when I was a kid!

PMaria - YAY!!!!! :flowerforyou:  :flowerforyou:  CONGRATS!!! That's is awesome! Now you get to be a double-boarder! you better not leave us completely but hopefully a the rest of us will be able to "cross over" soon!
KCurtis - Congrats on AF - maybe we'll be baby buddies!

Well, I got a lot done today but still doesn't feel like enough. I finally painted the front bathroom! My husband will be...well i'm honestly not sure WHAT my husband's reaction will be. It looks nice, still needs one more coat and gotta do the edging around the light switches and bathtub but other than that...also finally attacked P's room...made a box of his old toys to donate to make room for Christmas. Tidy'd the house but didn't do a detailed job of cleaning. I plan to do that next weekend before the Hubster gets home! One more week!!!!

PMaria - YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you :) Congratulations. That is really exciting news.

    Weigh In Stats
    FFF SW = 268.6
    Week 12 Weight = 244.3 (-0.6 lbs)
    Week 13 Weight = 243.6 (-0.7 lbs)
    Week 14 Weight = 241.2 (-2.4 lbs)
    Week 15 Weight = 240.7 (-0.5 lbs)
    Week 16 Weight = 239.9 (-0.8 lbs)
    Week 17 Weight = 240.1 (+0.2 lbs)

I woke up this morning and could feel every single ab in my body screaming at me when I move. I know this is mostly water weight so I'm just going to drink up for next week. I wasn't great on the water this weekend and yesterday a friend brought by her new guy and I had all kinds of munchies out, but I had available calories. I'm thinking that they were high sodium treats though. Also, my personal challenge for the week is to get through my pilates video twice (not all at once, but gradually over the week).

Also, yesterday my CP seems to have gone back to normal and so.....I'm guessing that if I did O, it was probably Fri/Saturday. I do have my doc appt on Thurs. Does anyone know how long it would take for a pregnancy to show in blood work? Not that I think I am 100%, I'm not convinced I ovulated (although all signs did point to gearing up and the timing was right) and I would hate for them to prescribe the Provera on Thursday if there is even the slightest chance of it. I would definitely not yet be 8 dpo.
