Hey ladies!
Great job so far I have had such a busy two days this week. I am a high school teacher and I coach 2 sports which is basically year round. Girls soccer from May through October and Girls basketball from October through March.
I am so amazed at those of you who had TWO halloween candy pieces... I have had way more than I should :C
Goals for the week: I had two pops yesterday but was successful with the other two.
Having a hungry day today. Going to have fruit saled in a bit.
Have a great rest of the day!0 -
So glad I'm not the only one having a hungry day today!!!0
-
Great job on the 2 pieces of candy! I keep telling the DH he needs to take it to work and get it out of the house.
Is it possible to be eating too few calories? It says that I am supposed to have 1200 calories. I seem to notice a change in the scale on days where I go over the 1200 but I exercise but not on days where I am below the 1200 mark. Is there really a difference in calories consumed and calories burned. I would have really thought that a calorie is a calorie.0 -
I need to get my head back in the game and spend some more time on this site. I have always said it's the only thing that's different now. I only logged in once a day over the weekend if that and the scale is showing it today. Blah. Working to at least maintain for next Monday. Yesterday's eating was a particular disappointment since I ate more than my BMR and was so tired I came home from work and slept through until this morning almost (I swear I slept ate my dinner....)
Great job on 2 pieces of candy. I could say that if candy was the size of dinner plates maybe
K4tu - I think it is possible to eat too few. I know when I do, I immediately stop seeing progress on the scale. I have to find a delicate balance in order to see great loss (too few and I stop losing, too many and I stop losing - and maybe gain).
It also doesn't help that I still haven't seen AF since Sept - no chance of being preggo though, not with DH's surgery. My appt with the doctor is in a few days (next Thursday) so they don't want to give me Provera until then to see if I'm able to sort myself out, but I'm thinking that's quite doubtful. I'm calling Oct an anovulatory cycle because I'm pretty sure I am gearing up to O again (CM, CP, etc. are all right). I also never quite lost the AF weight after gearing up to go.....it jumped like I was going to but it never showed and I never saw it drop back down. I'm amazed at how our first month of "really trying" is just gone.0 -
Hey ladies,
Thank you for the birthday wishes. The day turned out wonderful, despite not being preggo. Dh took me to lunch and brought me flowers to work, and the in-laws took me to supper, and there was cake everywhere (I'm cake-d out). And this weekend is the party I know nothign about, so I'm looking forward to that.
I haven't stepped on a scale in 2 weeks... any progress I made is gone. So here we go again....
So, I'm going to weigh in tomorrow and set a November goal to hit then. I really want to be 215, so I'm going to try that. I'd love to be 210 for the New Year.
So the TTC is seriously on. I've discovered that I like to pee on sticks:blushing: I'm ordering a bunch of HPTs today (cheaper online) so i don't feel guilty about testing from 8DPO on (I have no patience...)
I had a dentist appt yesterday (final one, everything is now good to go for pregnancy), and I reacted really badly to the freezing (anesthetic and I do NOT get along). I was so sick last night, all night and I still am this morning. DH took a late bus withme just so he could be there if I had to dash off the bus and puke.... but I don't really have any sick time (used it up for surgery in March) so I'm stuck at work for the day. It's me, ginger-ale and nausea for the day. Ick. I keep telling myself it's practice for morning sickness later on.
It actually spawned a conversation with DH about anesthetic. When we have a baby, I want to try ad do it drug free (assuming it's not a Csection ofcourse). He agrees (I had such a bad reaction to the anesthetic in March they had to keep me hospitalized for 2 days since my body just couldn't metabolize it fast enough). He said he wants me to put it in writing before the birth so I don't blame it on him when he says no. LOL.
I've also decided I'll want a doula. DH isn't sold on the idea, but I told him we'll need someone else to lend a hand when we're both exhausted - he's convinced that's the nurse's job. I laugh every time and tell him nurses just don't have time!
Hope all is well everyone!0 -
kt4- It is possible to eat too few of calories. 1200 sounds very low. I have done a lot of research on this the last time I was very serious about loosing weight (april about) and all the other sites I found had me at higher calories that MFP. I would try upping them a bit and see how it works!
jalara- Good for you wanting to do it drug free! I watched my sister give birth this past may (I learned A LOT) and she did it drug free and it was VERY painful for her. Her contractions were not bad until her water broke and by that time it was kind of too late for the drugs.... She made it through but it convinced me otherwise I always am so amazed by and congratulate women who can do it drug free now!0 -
kt4 - my first questions is how tall are you? For me to lose regularly, I need to eat 1150ish. At 5ft1 (on a tall day), my body desn't need what a 5ft6 woman does. I know a lot of people panic at the idea of going under 1200 (and to be honest I can't survive on that in a day, I'm always over) but for smaller people that's just the way it is. Different stroke for different body types!
Anne Elise - decided, yes. But not looking forward to it! I just don't like the option of being out of it and unable to move from the epidural. I want to be able to move around as soon afterwards as I can...0 -
jalara - I have to say, I'm seriously considering doing it drug free too. I know my pain tolerance is high anyways and I know that warm baths really help me (let's just say I had an abscessed wisdom tooth in my early 20s that I didn't want to go to the dentist for several months....LOL) so I'm looking at water births. A friend of mine just had her second. The #1 thing on her plan was to get the epidural. Well as it turns out she got to the hospital too late and had the baby in 10 minutes (no, i"m not expecting such luck) without. She said the one thing that really surprised her was how quickly she recovered vs. the first time with the epidural. Just something to keep in mind....I'm sure once it happens I'll be pulling my husband into the tub by his collar for an epidural....LOL Romantic notions though, eh?
As for calories, I found I was losing really well on 1231 (2lbs) for a long time. I haven't been able to stick with it lately so I've bumped it up to 1500 cals (1.5lbs) at the suggestion of these lovely ladies and I'm at least not gaining anymore.....LOL, but no big losses. See what works best for you and once it stops working, try something different.0 -
Kt4au,
I lose more weight at higher calories. I had it set to 1 lb./week which had me at 1230 calories for the first month. I was either way under or way over. I bumped it up to .5 lb/week with is 1430 calories and I've lost around 1 lb per week. You might try increasing for a few weeks and see what happens.0 -
Jalara: I agree with you on the impatience
I'm the same. I tested two days ago even
though it may have been still to early. BFN
but i'm hoping AF doesn't show and i'll get
a chance to test again. I also would like to
go natural my sister in law has four kids and
she went natural with all out of fear of future
reactions to the epidural.
So, my exercising is still going great still no
weight loss but i blame all the left over
Halloween candy both at home and at work.
I'm going to resist today; that's my goal for today.0 -
Happy Happy Wednesday everyone!
Kt4 - I can't agree more with what everyone else is saying. I'm a big advocate of changing up your calorie intake every few weeks. You have to keep your body guessing (whether it's by changing your calories or your workout or both!) I will be doing the same thing probably next week bc i can't shake this 133-135 up and down plateu i am on. I am just under 5'6 and keep pretty reguarly to 1200-1250 a day and i normally eat back 1/2 or more the my exercise calories.
So last night after i got off work I went and picked my friend up bc she had a Dr appointment this morning and no car to get there so I offered for her to stay the night with me and I took her this morning before work. She is always one to talk me into just going thru a drive thru for dinner (she did it twice over the weekend) bc she's preggo and when the baby is hungry the baby wants to eat immediately. Well I talked her into me cooking for them, and so i was able to stay w/in my calories! Before dinner we ran to target and I thought...well it's 2 days before AF...I could take a test and just KNOW....so I bought just a two pack of the EPT (which normally i hate bc it's one of those that reads + or -...I would just rather something idiot proof that says preggo or not:laugh: ) so I decided i was going to take it this morning...first morning's urine and all. Guess who showed up before i went to bed! AF! I didn't even open the HPT box! So now we're cycle day 2 and I started 12 days after my LH surge but only had a 27 day cycle...still atleast she was ontime! I guess that counts for something! Glad she came...now we just need her to come one more time in early december and we're cleared for take off! :drinker:0 -
See, I told you...
By the way, EPTs (blue dye) are notorious for evap lines that make it look like a positive test even when it's not positive. I think the blue dye is more easily read by the eye so that any amount of blue registers as a line. So if you (general you) take one and the line is really thin, verify with another brand of test (either a digital or a First Response Early Response).0 -
Yeah, my husband's going to come home and go "uhh...why do we already have preggo tests under the sink..."
Kinda interesting though, plugged my numbers into a O'calculator based on a 27 day cycle and if my hub doesn't leave until the first week in Feb (which is what the original plan was...ALWAYS subject to change) we would end up with TWO solid Ocycles before he leaves...betters our chances...0 -
Question: When i'm calculating the length of my cycle...the day you start is CD1 right? So CD1 was October 7th and then Monday was CD26 and then I started yesterday so that would mean yesterday was CD1 again but also CD27...does that mean i have a 26 or 27 day cycle? I'm confused...0

Alisa - are you using Fertility Friend? I discovered the other night tha I could search for charts that meet specific parameters (ie, pregnant with short luteal phase, using OPK's, etc). I found it a great tool and I'm going to try to mimic it this week. And I can obsess over all the details it records!
I think my luteal phase is short.... does anyone know anything about that? I google it, but all I see are people taking progesterone (please don't say to go get Taking Charge of Your Fertility... anymore books and DH is going to kill me).
I'm really hoping I get a + this month.... as we all do I'm sure. But then again, I'm only on CD3.....0 -
An LP defect is usually considered if you LP is 10 days or less... or if you start spotting at 10 dpo until AF shows. You can take B6 to help, though I don't know how much. I would recommend checking www.amandabears.com. That's not a book.
As for the chart gallery... be afraid, be very afraid. It's highly addictive. I can't tell you how many times I've found pregnancy charts that matched mine exactly only to have AF arrive. At least 10-20 a cycle... The only thing you can really determine with temping is that you actually Od. It's not a good indicator of pregnancy and it can make you really crazy by obsessing about it. /PSA0 -
I'm on Fertility Friend and LOVE IT! I learned so much about myself and my cycles. I highly recommend it - even just to learn how to chart and how to interpret your cycles. They say Luteal phases are normal if they're anywhere from 10-16 days. Most of mine are 13-14 days but I had one month where it was only 12. I always ovulate around cd18.
Alisa - I heard somewhere that if you get AF after a certain time (some said noon, others said 5pm) you would count cd1 as the next day. If it were me, I'd count yesterday as cd27 and today as cd1 since you said AF got here before bedtime. cd1 also doesn't count if it's just spotting. You should need to use a regular pad or tampon to consider it cd1. HTH!!0 -
Holy Jeez! What have i gotten myself into...Just registered on FF and um...I'm addicted ALREADY! My husband is going to hate me! Althought i REALLY like knowing this much about my body, I (for the first time in YEARS) literally felt myself cramp a little and went potty and realized i was spotting!
Thanks Jenny for letting me know that technically last night didn't count! That helps a lot! I got my +OPK last month on CD16 so i'm assuming that means I O'd on the CD17 or CD18 which is 3-4days AFTER FF says i should have...but we'll see this month if that is consistant! I really like the tracking signs and stuff....
On a health and wellness topic (trying to keep a mix of convo! ) I have Zumba tonight...but i have cramps today...so not sure if i wanna...maybe i'll just see if my friend wants to just walk....0 -
Hi all! Wow that was a lot to catch up on. I can't wait till I can join in on the Oing and AFing convos. Still nothing over here! With all the complexity of our bodies it's amazing that anyone gets preggo at all! Gosh...
Well I am finally going to Zumba tonight after a week and a half. The stupid house and flu kept me away too long! I'm so excited, but unfortunately the instructor tonight isn't the best... But I guess I'll make it what I want. (again with the smiley faces!)
I'm trying to get my eating under control...I have been SO hungry lately. It seems like all I do, all day, is snack, so I made sure to bring an apple, grapes, and yogurt instead of chips and Halloween candy. Also, DH and I have been really bad lately with eating out (again). So I am revisiting the "eat out only once a week" goal. So far so good. It really amazes me that we are too lazy to get up and cook something for dinner, but we have no problem getting up, getting in the car, and driving through a fast food joint. Ugh, really?
37 more days till Hawaii! I would really like to see 139 (and AF x2) by then!!! So, eating out must be limited, Zumba has to go up, push-ups have to come back, and time to get the snacking under control!
Week Goal: Healthy snacks, Zumba 2 times, push-ups before lunch, and 1 eat out (prolly Friday, it's always our pizza night)0 -
kcurtis, was your doctor having you test regularly to make sure you aren't pregnant? And how long was she going to make you wait for AF? I would call and let her know you had some spotting and see if she can do a blood test for pregnancy then prescribe you something to start AF. This is ridiculous!0
-
I'm with kcurtis. How do teenagers have
a high rate of pregnancy? I mean i'm sure
they don't even know the science behind it
all.0 -

Younger eggs, more CM, and younger sperm.0 -
I guess DH and I should've started
way earlier.0 -
Just remember that it takes the average couple a year to conceive. I know the disappointment every month is hard, but it will likely take longer than a couple of months. Hang in there.0

I have taken a few tests just for curiosity sake and BFN each time... She told me to wait till at least January, because by then it will be a year since my last depo shot! I was really hoping the spotting was going to turn into something significant, but nope.:frown:  Ridiculous is an under statement! I'm SO sick of waiting, but at the same time I don't like to manipulate my body with medication either. (I don't even like to take meds for a headache, unless it's really bad) It's even harder because I have almost met my over-all goal and the whole point of doing this was to get pregnant and here I am unable to even try effectively. I'm trying to stay positive and think that "things happen for a reason," but it is getting harder as more time passes.
Sorry for the rant... I'm done...for now LOL0 -
I think it's crazy that she's making you wait an entire year from your last depo shot. I understand wanting nature to take its course (I'm waiting for a year until I seek medical help for infertility even though everyone thinks we should start testing now), but I would be raising hell if I was ready to start trying and couldn't because of no AF. I'm so sorry. I hope she starts soon. If not, get in there on January 2!0
-
My doctor was only going to have my wait 3 months when I wasn't having my AF... thank goodness it came last week. I would check with your doctor.0
-
Hey everyone...loving the posts in this group. I am pretty sure tis is the group I am looking for! My husband and Ihve been trying to conceive for almost a year with no luck yet. Getting frustrated as each month passes with a BFN. We are currently on day 10 of this cycle and abot ready to start "trying" again. Hoping that this will be our month!0
-
Jalara - I am 5'3".
I tried to change how much I wanted to loose on here and the calories didn't change until I changed it to 1/2lb per week so I changed it back. I thought for sure it would change but I guess not. I will just try to hit at least 1200 everyday and just up my exercising. Most days I have been shooting for a hour on the elliptical or at least 30 min and then some strenght training.
My mom just called and said that she was coming down here to Tampa for Thanksgiving. I am excited but that means everything that is cooked will be a little more calorie heavy. You might as well call her Paula Deen because that woman loves to cook with butter. Oh well, I guess I will just have to work harder that week!0 -
kkuhly - I was wondering when I'd see you over here! A friend and I started the Preggo group, and then tis was a spin-off from that. Welcome!!!!
So I did it. I weighed in. Everything I lost came back. Starting again! This is... the 3rd or 4th time this year. Oh well!0
