Why don't more men wear tight shorts to the gym?

because...... and without being crude.... you would be able to see the outline of myballs and p*n*s ...<-- that says penis by the way!
lolololo.... that is why :flowerforyou:
Do you hide it because it might offend me or because you don't want me to see it?
haha.. I don'y mind anybody seeing it/them/those........ I like it...but only if they want to... but there are some ladies who don't want to see man junk... I guess you gotta cater for them??........... maybe I'm just too nice!???
Not necessarily. Some women wear compression tops so that they don't make the guys around them uncomfortable. However, this is something that women think about and discuss...and men kind of take for granted.
And the why to that is really interesting.
and THIS is exactly WHY I asked.
"I guess you gotta cater for them?"
If it means sacrificing a degree of comfort, to make others more comfortable... hmmm...
I guess its what Bloom72 said above..... but ... in my view.....generally 99% of guys think seeing everything of a woman is incredible... and pleasant..... but the %age of ladiesfindinging guy junk pleasant is significantly less..... so .... guys might not wanna take the chance of offended ladies.... some guys don't mid offending..... some do.... so I guess that's why many gym guys wear baggy shorts??????? fk... I sound like a psychologist.... I'm an Engineer..... I like angles and numbers!! lol0 -
A woman's body is a piece of art. A man's body is mechanical tool. Which would you rather look at. I find wearing tight clothing uncomfortable and like the feel of baggy shorts.
I disagree wholeheartedly.
A man's body is just as much a work of art as a woman's.
I'll disagree too. A man's body inspires me to do things.0 -
There is a guy at my gym who works out in compression underwear. It's fine until he gets on the half-exercise ball for balance work and his junk is jiggling.0

An interesting point. I'm straight, and I don't find men's bodies to be gross or anything, but I do tend to appreciate the female form more. I've never been an "OMG those abs" kinda girl though. I'm not really a visual person when it comes to sexy stuff. Erotic lit > porn.0 -
As a female I wear relatively baggy clothes, trackies and t-shirt...(that are actually mens-wear) because of comfort. Women's sportswear IMO doesn't have anywhere near the amount of comfort physically and mentally as mens. I don't see a sign up saying I have to wear tight clothing, and I refuse to follow everyone else just because it's what's seen as the done thing.
Personally I find what I wear, to be really comfy and flexible for things such as squats, deadlifts etc, which is why I buy them. I've tried on women's stuff before and often it's too short, cut low on the neckline, too tight/restricting to squat in, too tight around the shoulders/lats and just damn unflattering. I don't like skin tight clothes in the gym also because I don't want my every bulge, or I've-had-a-big-breakfast belly, or underwear line (I hate thongs) on show when I'm working out. I need to feel mentally comfortable as well as physically in order to focus 100% on my lifts.
I think it is a bit of a stigma for guys to wear tight, form fitting clothes. I don't have a care either way about it, but I don't think many people like seeing the outline of a man's genitals on display, and I don't think many would feel comfortable if it was themselves either (I know my bf didn't particularly relish the idea of having to wear a tight singlet for competition!) My opinion is as always, wear what makes you comfortable, and screw everything else!0 -

Those of us who wear tight workout clothes (like the ones in your pic ) aren't doing it because it's "the done thing." Frankly I like moisture being wicked away, and I truly prefer the comfort. Baggier clothes get caught on stuff and can cause some real problems. Ever try running is bootleg pants? :noway:0 -
OP, you obviously don't frequent a gym near a military base. PT shorts are not appropriate for public viewing; well, b/c of balls (can I say that?). Same goes for spandex shorts on men. I don't want to look, but I am going to...so please wear loose shorts over the compression shorts.0

I posted this on Mirey's wall. Please forgive the copy/paste. I am a poor typer......
I was going to post something like what your saying, but my experience isn't from the gym. I worked in the live aboard dive industry for ten years. I can't help but wonder if this is an American/Canadian issue with security. Male passensers from Europe,Japan or Australia almost all wore speedos and lounged in the evenings in lycra shorts. I know a Ukrainian here in Wisconsin that when he first moved here he wore a speedo to the beach once! He conformed to our culture quickly wearing board shorts just from the looks he got. Cwolfman is a secure man.

Back when men wore codpieces the size of watermelon, women weren't supposed to even obliquely refer to legs. And you don't even want to know what was "asking for it"0 -

I agree with her disagreement.
I can tell you that after having figure drawing for 2 straight terms, working from the model twice a week for 3 hours at a time that I am OVER the female form. The only people that we have been drawing are young thin females, and we are all honestly sick of it and are DYING for some variety. But, more young women are okay with modeling than men are, I have no clue why. The male form is gorgeous,
Here's my thought on that. Women decided to wear form-fitting workout clothing in the early 80s, and the longer women wore it, the more desensitized the public became, so that now, it is commonplace. The ones who are most self-conscious tend to be the younger women and women new to working out in public or to wearing exercise wear. That feeling goes away after a while. To be frank, I sold workout wear in the 80s and early 90s, and I'm just really, really glad we don't wear the butt floss leotards over bike shorts to do squats anymore. Those were painful.
Men place just as much social pressure on themselves as women do. Like LolBro says, getting past the mental discomfort of wearing meggings in public is the hurdle, because they're comfortable in the gym. Women got over it for the most part. Men just need to do the same.
I think that there is a lot of truth to this ^^^ In my area there are a lot of serious bikers and runners, seeing men in lycra shorts/leggings is really commonplace. It's the norm with bikers. Seeing how common it is probably helps other men be fine with wearing them.1 -

It's just another way of saying a woman's body is for the consumption of others and a mans body is for the use of its owner. Really, bodies are most beautiful when they are most functional.0 -

no compression shorts here, just boxer briefs to keep the boys in place and shorts. Tight close on my that is a negative, a compression shirt is possible.
however i might want to bring this look back
Don't knock that look. I have a special place in my heart for that look.
I just need to be able to find these shorts and socks. I can get the chucks.

It's me. Someone said that women don't like to see a man's "junk" (I never understood calling it junk). So, just being honest. I think bodies (all parts and all genders) are lovely. I am a dancer. Bodies are instruments of art.0 -
Really????
I have love in my heart for this man. Sincerely. Cutie!
Edit to add that I hope he's a nice person. :frown:0 -

I think that's a bit of a stretch.
Compression clothing makes you look smaller. Women generally want to look smaller especially at the gym.
Breastfeeding is not sexual (blech). But breasts sure as heck are, and I rue they day they aren't.
My husband got over it0 -
Imagine that too...everything just shown above and on top of it sweaty, sersly just close your eyes and imagine it...is that what you really want?0
