    You want Christmas?

    Germans. Fo sho. ;)

Oh, yeah, Germans, too! I AM eating "German" for the 4th--brats, sauerkraut, slaw, and potato salad are "German-like" foods. I drinks the beers, and eats the sausages and things called "salad" that contain no actual "salad". Oh, my German grandparents would be so disappointed in me :( I really don't know what "German food" is, do I? :drinker:

Hmmmm... I think I'll eat some food on that day. Yes, I think that's my strategy. Definitely going to eat food. And watch fireworks, and go all Murica! on everyone.

German food is fantastically yummy. So is Polish food.

With 4th of July around the corner, what is your strategy to stay on target with calories?

-Im going to walk/run a half marathon before heading to the lake with my fiances family so I know I will have a few calories to "bank" since my fueling and after run only uses about half of what I will burn.

    - bringing some fresh veggies to munch on and will sit away from the snack table (I LOVE CHIPS)

    - Just sticking to water, some one has to drive home!

    - Will not use a bun with my brat or hamburger (depending on what I decide to eat)

    - Will not go back for more- one plate rule and it will not be stacked

    - If I do go over my daily goal in calories I wont freak out but will just be better the next day!

So what are you planning to do?

You aren't going to freak out if you go over your calorie goal for the day, but you are going to severely restrict your food even after running a half marathon because for some reason more than one plate of food, bread, and chips is just going to be soooooo bad.

Seems like this is all contradicting and a little sad.

I'm going to Atlantic City that week so while I'll still record my food intake I pretty much plan on eating / drinking what ever I want. Free drinks at the Casino and the buffet are calling me...... :P

There's nothing wrong with taking a break once in a while. I haven't been perfect on my diet but I've been calorie counting hard for a while. A few days of vacation are not going to sabotage my total results. quitting my diet and going back to the way I was eating before over significant time will.

Pure alcohol, not really seeing room in my log for solids  (if we have plans without the kids)

Posting as the responsible mother of 2, honestly figure it will work itself out. Memorial day weekend did, if I go over a little...it happens. After I lose the weight I plan on living my life and holidays are part of that. For memorial day I was just very aware of my portions, I even drank and my numbers for the week still worked out.

ETA I did bring cucumber water with me, so that I had a drink and wouldn't be stuck with soda or alcohol as my only options.... I hate soda.

Nothing. The 4th is the weekend before my competition, so I shall be avoiding any and all social gatherings where there will be food I can't have, like the plague. There's always next FoJ to make up for it.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I have a family reunion (lunch) and a bachelorette party (dinner) on the 5th. I may have to go for an early morning run. Otherwise, I'm not too worried. Lunch will be stuffed grape leaves so that should be tasty and relatively low cal. I do plan on drinking tho!

My food strategy is to eat whatever I want...if I over eat, oh well, tomorrow is another. The only excercise I'm planning on is playing outside with the kids.

I'm going on vacation for the week, which means no home cooked meals and lots of drinking. To counteract all that, like last year, I make sure I go for runs every morning and go for a couple 20 mile bike rides. Last year I gained no weight, which was amazing, so I hope that's the case this year as well.

My strategy is to not be American (edit: or rather continue not to be, I never was to begin with :p)

(/cry that I don't get to eat lots of nice food with you guys)

I could see how an island of tea drinkers might not appreciate our celebration. ;)
One day we will reclaim what is ours.

    One day.
