I'm freezing . . . I think they actually had the air conditioner on at my son's Christmas concert. Brrr! It's been in the low 30's all day and that's low for Georgia. :noway:

On top of everything else I have a terrible head cold. The medicine is really zoning me out. I actually went out to my car and took a nap at lunch today. :embarassed: But it did make me feel a little better. I think it might be warm enough to walk during lunch by Thursday and I'll try to get in a Leslie walk tomorrow when I get home.

Tracy, I don't think you get the southern weather benefit until you get an hour or so south of Atlanta and I'm about an hour north. So you really are in the northern South!

Marie, I'm having a hard time staying on track too. I think I'm using the least little thing as an excuse to take a day off. We just have to get our walk going again. We'll get there.

Teresa, your really making me jealous with the weather thing! LOL

Well, Igot another 3 miles done at work plus the kettlebell workout- now I'm tired and hungry:ohwell:

Hey Sandy- I started with a 5# weight, and stayed at that weight for about 3-4 weeks, until it wasn't as much of a challenge and I got the 7.5 with another dvd(but you could go to a sporting goods store (like ****'s) to find them. Get some rest and get over that cold before you start, expect to be hungry after about a week or two, get extra protein in your diet cuz your building muscle (about1/4 pound per week)

Kathy- sorry to hear about your grandson's teething, he must be very uncomfotable ((((hugs)))) for him. I've been listening to Christmas music since Thanksgiving- there's a station in Atlanta that plays it non-stop! What projects are you doing now?

Happy walking everyone and stay warm!

I'm feeling for you all!!! Our AZ weather was gorgeous yesterday. I started out raking the yard in long sleeves, by the time I was done I was in a tee shirt. I didnt get in any miles, but did 2.80 last evening on my bike in front of the tv.

Kathy Hope your Grandson is better today!

:flowerforyou: Hang in there and stay warm girls :flowerforyou:

Greetings and salutations all. We have a brisk 10 above this a.m. Too swamped to walk this morning but I will move it this afternoon. A good walk about to pick pine boughs for wreaths and swags, and at least two miles with Leslie.

Sandra, It has taken me three weeks to conquer that cold, I hope you are over it much quicker. Drink, drink, drink!

Plumsgrl outstanding workouts! Look at the great progress you have made!

No more chat time. Back to work. eeeek! Alice

I'm feeling sluggish today, I almost didn't feel like getting that morning walk in, I had to force myself ( only 2 milles) and moderate at that. The weather is freezing out side in the morning's about 40 degrees, but warms up quickly by noon probably mid 60's.
I think I drank to much water before my work out, I hope I do better tonight.

PlumGirl- wow! 5 lb weights & now 7 lbs Good for you, Thats awesome ! / I feel comfortable with my 3 pds.

Marie- 16 degree's. I've never been out of Florida except a 2 day visit to NewYork, If I was in your weather in Wisconsin , You'd have to put me in a coffin 6 feet under. LOL

Sandy- Feel better soon, Thank Goodness for those Car Naps ;-)
  • Well got 3 miles in today, and doing pretty good, I am so hoping none of the girls bring cupcakes tonight....

I tried out my second new WATP DVD. Walk Away Your Waistline 3 miles with the walk belt. The actual workout was good. Almost didn't think I was going to make it all the way through at one point but I did it. Not really impressed with the walk belt. Feels kind of awkward. Maybe I have to get used to it.

Did 3.50 miles cross country. Intention was to pick boughs for wreaths which I did, but I also got sidetracked following some tracks which told a story in the snow. Had a lovely hike, dropped bundles of boughs along the way and picked them up on my way
back. Burned a bunch of calories in the cold air, and had a great hike.

Hi Everyone! Looks like everyone is working hard. I did manage to get in the 3 mile Walk off 10 lbs dvd. I can't believe I'm feeling so much better after feeling so crappy yesterday so I thought I better get in a walk before I have a relapse. :noway:

Marie, I'm not real fond of the walk belt either. I feel like it's made for someone with longer arms. I need to shorten mine up a bit maybe.

I don't know why my kitty has to park himself right in front of my monitor every time I try to type something. He's a little  when he wants to be. lol

Hopefully it will be warm enough for a lunch time walk tomorrow. If not I can always nap again! I still can't believe I did that.

    See you all later!

Sandy good to hear you are feeling better. Sounds like you needed that nap. Anyway, thats exactly what I was thinking about the walk belt. I have to check it out alittle closer. I got so annoyed with it I just took it off.

You cracked me up about the kitty. Mine does the same thing and ever so slowly reaches for the key pad just to touch it and I have a random bunch of letters on my screen.

AliceLMS - My middle name is "Sidetracked" these days. Whats up with that? Sounds like you had a nice hike though.

Teresa - We all have days like that. I have more than I like to admit..lol. You will have to come to Wisconsin sometime. The cold isn't so bad after your body gets numb and it doesn't feel like your nose is there anymore. It really wakes you up and makes you walk faster too!

Fit in the 3 mile bootcamp while hubby did bedtime routine with the boys. I'm so grateful to him. He's very supportive and always willing to let me get that little extra exercise in at home when things pop up at work that keep me from doing so there. He's reading this over my shoulder so he's bound to think pretty highly of himself right now

Did two more miles while dinner was cooking. Roasted chicken, steamed brocolli, cauliflower, and peas.

    Here is a lovely ode to the Wisconsin Winter that a friend sent me today;

    WINTER Poem

    It's winter in Wisconsin

    And the gentle breezes blow
    Seventy miles an hour
    At thirty-five below.

    Oh, how I love Wisconsin

When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave Wisconsin Cuz I'm frozen to the ground!

    ( We love our winters!)

Sandy shortening the belt does help alot. If you don't like it just do the moves with light weights. I have learned to like the belt.

I was using her leg exercise bands, the ones with the stirups in them for you feet, to do floor exercises as shown on one of the Dvds. I was doing horizontal leg extensions with the bands on when it broke and I flipped backwards over my own head. A really fast backward roll! You can picture this 56 year old heap can't you? I laughed til I had tears in my eyes. Nothing was hurt, I wish I had it on film.

On my hike today I came across coyote tracks follwed him to where he spooked some deer and on from there to where he tried to catch an otter. Tracks clearly laid out on the ice. Mr. Otter made it to his hole in the ice. Mr Coyote is still hungry.
Otters slide marks were very clear, his dive hole froze over today.

    Happy walking!

    Good Morning girls

I did another 3.50 miles on my bike last night.

I know I need to be getting some more walking miles in today but I think I'm coming down sick? :frown:

Marie & Sandy Thanks for the heads up on the belt, I tried my stretchy band with one of the WATP dvd's and it did not work.

The DVD with the leg bands is Walk Away Your Hips and Thighs. I think they are actually ankle cuffs, but you get the gist. I called the Walk at Home folks and told them what had happened, no fuss, they sent me a new band. Love people and companies who honor their word, their mission, and their customers.

    Happy Day, Alice

Sorry I didn't post last night- to tired after working so many 12 hour shifts in a row (ad working out).

So yesterday I did a total of 5 miles, this morning I weighed in and saw a 2.4# drop on the scale and another inch off the waist and 1/2 inch off the hips! so happy~~~

Time to get busy...(walk, walk, walk)...

    "See" ya later!

    Hi all!

Did the 3 Mile AHA Walk yesterday morning and then walked to some stores (about 2 miles round-trip) with my DD and grandson. Haven't done any walking yet today but I did vacuum and spot-clean the living room carpet. Lots of spots, too! I hope to get a walk in but no promises!

Plums--I'm making a hat for my son on a round loom. He requested a doubled one for snow-boarding, on another loom I'm working on a red and white sack type thing for the baby's walks, I am also making a few simple jewelry pieces for the ladies in my life. I also have some breads I need to bake for neighbor's gifts. That's why I'm not on the computer as often right now!

Marie--I thought the Walk Belt took some getting used to but now I love it! I don't have that workout, though, I have the WATP for abs and it's pretty good.

Well, need to get moving. Will be back later!

Did the 3 Fast Miles today. I haven't done that DVD in awhile. Even Mare didn't bug me today  Still struggling with water, but overall, feeling like I'm on track despite the holi-daze.

Well I still feel a little loopy from working so much- 60 hour last week and this week.

But I was off today and took Plummy out twice for his walk (1 mile each time), did 3 miles this am and 2 miles this pm~
before you start thinking :noway: Sandra had reminded me that we're burning fewer cals (for the same amount of work)
as we get closer to our goals~ well darn it, I wanted ribs tonight (they were yummy) so I had to put forth the effort to have them:tongue::laugh:

    Nite Nite!

Hey Alice, send me just a little bit of that snow down here. I could use a day off! You know Georgia closes down if we have even an inch or two!

Eagle, I don't know how you work such long hours and still have the energy to work out as much as you do! Your awesome!

I did one of the 2 mile Leslie walks off of exercise TV. It wasn't bad, I'm going to have to try more stuff off of there.

I'm so happy tomorrow is Friday! YAY!

    Keep on walking everybody!

I'm so jazzed, I finally moved off my plateau and lost 2 pounds. That was a great thing to start my day off with. Here it's Friday, I've lost weight, I get to enjoy a weekend with the hubby and kids, and we may get some snow on Sunday so it'll really feel like Christmas when we trim our tree - truly feeling blessed today.

Did 4 Fast Miles today during lunch hour and even did all the boosts. I'm so perky I'm annoying myself

Perky is good but when combined with pert it irks more people! Congratz on the weight loss!

Did 3 miles today and threw in some resistance work and weights for good measure. I am tired tonight!
